United draw up 6-man shortlist as Ineos “green light” January left back purchase – report

    united-draw-up-6-man-shortlist-as-ineos-“green-light”-january-left-back-purchase-–-report

Manchester United are targeting six players to fill the left back void in their squad this January.

It was initially thought that the Red Devils would leave significant strengthening of this area to the summer but Ruben Amorim’s appointment has resulted in the club playing a 3-4-3 formation which is heavily dependent on attacking full back play.

It was hoped the eagerly anticipated return of Luke Shaw would aid the team but he only managed two substitute appearances in the Premier League before picking up yet another injury setback, that could take weeks to recover from.

For that reason, GIVEMESPORT report that the club “will now green-light plans to buy a replacement.”

“The decision to go into the market for a new left-back marks a slight tweak in strategy under Amorim” and they must now decide whether to pursue “a substantial investment in a long-term solution or opt for a more pragmatic, short-term signing”.

Milos Kerkez is one of the names at the top of the list as the AFC Bournemouth man continues to impress in the Premier League with his “dynamic” performances.

“Another player from the Premier League that has been regularly linked is Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Ait-Nouri. The Algeria international is under consideration, with the player renowned for his attacking contributions down the left flank.”

His dribbling skills and composure in advanced positions could add another dimension to United’s wing play.

Alphonso Davies is also a big name target from Bayern Munich but there has been confusion recently as to how available he might be. It has been reported that he is closer to agreeing a new contract with Bayern Munich.

However, reports emerged late last night that United have organised a meeting next month with the player and his representatives to convince him to move to Old Trafford.

United have also been linked to their former fullback Alvaro Fernandez and do retain a buy back clause for the player should they decide to make a move for the Spaniard after he has mightily impressed in Portugal for SL Benfica.

Another potential option is Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez, who United have been tracking for some time due to his sensational performances in Catalonia.

The final name on GIVEMESPORT’s list is that of Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu, as sources have confirmed that the Red Devils are watching his progress closely and are ready to lodge a €35 million bid in January.

The winter transfer market opens on the 1st of January and fans will have their eyes peeled for what United decide to do to fix this problematic position ahead of the final five months of the season.

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.

Six Manchester United players Van Nistelrooy could sign for Leicester includes academy pair

      six-manchester-united-players-van-nistelrooy-could-sign-for-leicester-includes-academy-pair

Ruud van Nistelrooy is off to a flyer after Leicester’s 3-1 win over West Ham but the scoreline told a very different story to the stats in that game and if he’s to keep the Foxes in the Premier League we suspect January moves may well be required.

He remains in the Manchester United good books despite his dismissal after a productive interim spell and that relationship with the bosses along with his very recent work with the players makes them a prime raiding target.

Here are six players we reckon he should be plumping for.

      Victor Lindelof
He’s Manchester United’s third longest-serving player behind Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford having been at the club for seven-and-a-half entirely forgettable years. Never the best nor the worst centre-back in that time, there’s not much more to say about Lindelof’s Manchester United career other than that (for now at least) we acknowledge that he’s had one. In five years or so we may struggle to even be that glowing in our reverence.

We do actually quite like Lindelof though. If nothing else it takes quite the stomach to remain at Manchester United for that long, and actually, being forgettable is an underrated quality in a centre-back. Sure, the very best are hard to miss, but so are the very worst, and being a consistently average centre-back is absolutely fine for Leicester.

      Ethan Wheatley
The understandably giddy Leicester fans may well baulk at the inclusion of a striker on this list after both Jamie Vardy and Patson Saka scored in Ruud’s first game in charge, but Wheatley would offer something very different as a target man for the Foxes.

He’s more of a penalty box sniffer than anything else, something Van Nistelrooy will be able to nurture, and he may as well earn experience elsewhere in the second half of the season with his path to the United first team blocked by Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford, all of whom appear to have found their feet quickly under Ruben Amorim.

      Harry Maguire
He’s not a guy short of confidence in his own ability having turned transfers down to fight what looked a losing battle for his place in the Manchester United team under Erik ten Hag. He featured far more than anyone thought he would having lost the captaincy, largely due to injuries to his competition, but also because he was playing some decent football.

But while he will probably fancy his chances again of regaining his spot on his return from injury as one of Amorim’s three centre-backs, amid Leny Yoro’s introduction, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez’s improvement and reports of defensive additions being high on a list of transfer priorities, we can’t see a fulfilling future for Maguire at Old Trafford.

A return to Leicester wouldn’t even have been on his radar, with middling Premier League sides a more reasonable landing spot, but Van Nistelrooy increases the allure of the Foxes, like all heroes of the Barclays era turned coaches.

      Toby Collyer
Did nothing wrong having replaced the hapless Casemiro at half-time in United’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool in September but he’s still very much below the Brazilian, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Christian Eriksen in the midfield pecking order, while Ruben Amorim’s new system also allows Bruno Fernandes or Mason Mount to take up one of those roles. Collyer’s not going to play if he stays.

Erik ten Hag was supposedly impressed by his ‘freakish running stats’ in training, as most managers would be in this energy-obsessed era of Premier League football, and while Van Nistelrooy already has two such Willing Runners in Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp, neither has done anything of great note to suggest gains can’t be made in the transfer market in that position.

As is the case with Wheatley, United would presumably be very pleased to send Collyer out on loan.

      Christian Eriksen
“It was a time of lots of joy and a lot of freedom,” Christian Eriksen said, reflecting on Van Nistelrooy’s interim spell at United as though he was explaining the Swinging Sixties to his grandchildren.

He only made two brief cameos from the bench during Van Nistelrooy’s four-game stint, with the caretaker boss valuing steel over guile in those deeper midfield positions. But Eriksen could be used as the furthest forward of a midfield three at Leicester, as he did to such great effect at Tottenham and in his brief stint at Brentford, before he was burdened with defensive responsibility he has neither the energy nor we suspect the heart (no pun intended) to engage in.

Also looks like he wouldn’t cost Leicester a dime.

      Antony
We’re fully in favour of Antony moving to Leicester more in the hope of it satisfying our sadism than anything else. His place in the team would be far from assured up against Facundo Buonanotte, Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi in those spots behind Jamie Vardy, and the thought of his glum face peering out from the King Power bench is a hugely attractive proposition.

United “in advanced talks” with sensational star, set to announce contract before the end of December- report

        united-“in-advanced-talks”-with-sensational-star,-set-to-announce-contract-before-the-end-of-december-report

Manchester United tried to maintain control instead of going on the attack against Arsenal and were ultimately made to pay as the Gunners scored twice from corners in the second-half to seal victory.

This was Ruben Amorim’s first taste of defeat since taking charge and looking back, the Gunners were not that good on the day from open play and he could have opted to have begun with a bang instead of a more conservative approach.

The ploy to start with Mason Mount did not work with Amad Diallo’s appearance in the second-half leading to the game’s best chance for the visitors falling to Matthijs de Ligt.

The Ivorian attacked the defensively-suspect Oleksandr Zinchenko and immediately won a dangerous free kick with the Ukrainian booked for his troubles. He could have been put under a lot more pressure by the Red Devils.

        Amad’s positive impact

Amorim has been impressed with the 22-year-old’s impact and is already thinking of shifting him into a more attacking role once INEOS sign a new left wingback for him.

The versatile attacker has notched three goals and five assists this season and has played in all four games under the new head coach.

So impressed has the Portuguese tactician been that he has instructed the club to agree a new deal with the former Atalanta starlet.

His current deal is valid until next summer with the club having the option of triggering a one-year extension. But Football Insider have now claimed that a breakthrough in contract talks is imminent.

The 20-time English league champions are confident that they can agree and announce a new deal for the talented Ivory Coast international within December.

        Close to contract agreement

“Man United to soon announce Amad Diallo deal” reads the report while further adding, “Man United winger Amad Diallo is in advanced talks to agree a new long-term contract at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

“The 22-year-old is expected to reach a full agreement on a long-term deal before the end of December.”

Amad was brutally overlooked by former manager Erik ten Hag, something that did not please the United dressing room and it was one of the reasons why this new contract agreement has taken time.

Hopefully, the club can agree the new contract extension soon with the player who had declared in the summer that he wanted to spend his whole career at Old Trafford.

Amorim wants United to sign Bayern Munich’s ‘Mr. Reliable’, his versatility will be a huge asset – report

          amorim-wants-united-to-sign-bayern-munich’s-‘mr.-reliable’,-his-versatility-will-be-a-huge-asset-–-report

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has been rotating the squad around, trying to manage minutes and while also gauging whether the current set of players can cope with his demands moving forward.

Christian Eriksen, who started the first game under the new coach, has not played since and rumours have swirled around a January exit with Celtic and Fenerbahce among the interested parties.

The Dane’s current deal ends in 2025 and the former Sporting Lisbon boss is open to his departure with a new deal unlikely. Casemiro is also in the same boat and his time at the club is also likely coming to an end.

The Portuguese tactician has already instructed INEOS to sign a couple of midfielders and Sky Germany have claimed on their Transfer Update – Die Show segment that the Red Devils are interested in Konrad Laimer of Bayern Munich.

          Laimer interest

The Old Trafford side signed Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from the Bavarian giants in the summer and Amorim now wants the Austrian to follow suit.

The 27-year-old is a midfielder with a great engine but has mainly been used as a right-back at Bayern. He has started only thrice in the Bundesliga under Vincent Kompany.

United could offer him regular minutes and the chance to stake his claim in the middle of the park with his versatility a bonus for Amorim.

He has a current market value of €30 million, something that would not be a problem for the club to pay next summer if Amorim deems hit fit for his style.

          No interest in leaving

However, BILD have revealed that the former RB Leipzig star is happy at Bayern and has no interest of leaving with his current deal valid until 2027.

“According to SPORT BILD information, Laimer feels comfortable in Munich and is currently not even thinking about a change!

“Although he is not an undisputed regular player at Bayern, he still gets playing time and impresses as ‘Mr. Reliable’. Laimer’s contract in Munich runs until 2027. He is unlikely to be the next Bayern player to leave for the time being.”

For now, Amorim has favoured Bruno Fernandes playing in a deeper role alongside Manuel Ugarte with Kobbie Mainoo likely to be the preferred choice once he regains full fitness.

            American football is better
I like sport. Football, as I played it for 30 years has always been my favourite. However, watching Arsenal and their set pieces has made me realise that American football is better. Arsenal don’t play football, their play special teams and American football special teams play is so much better.

            Why was Foden on corners?
Watching Rice and Saka last night delivering corners from each side reminded me of just what a sackable offence it was by Southgate to have Foden taking them for England in the Euros.

It boggles my mind back then how he could be so out of touch with his players’ strengths. Anyone wanting to remember him fondly and respectfully should be reminded of this.

The one small- but fairly obvious – oversight might have cost England the trophy.

Man Utd clear lowest of bars
36 minutes into the match last night, the scoreline 0-0. Man Utd haven’t had a shot on target, or touched the ball in the Arsenal box. Phrases such as ‘good shape’, ‘doing well’ and ‘manager will be happy’ are being used by Shearer in commentary. If ever you needed reminding of what Man Utd are right now, it was summed up by these compliments that are usually handed out to bottom half and newly promoted sides away from home.

Looking at the line-ups I’d say that’s the worst Man Utd 11 I ever remember us playing, and the ambition in time wasting from the 13th minutes onwards (did the ref not book Onana out of pity?) spoke volumes.

This was a real men against boys performance. Many will point to Arsenal needing set pieces as a job almost well done by Amorim, and his team. Ignoring the fact Arsenal should have been 1-0 up from one within 3 minutes. And the fact Utd’s only decent chance also came from a set piece.

This was a real 7/10 performance from Arsenal, at best, and that was more than good enough. Some poor decision making around the Utd box (Martinelli has been chief culprit this for a year now) and Havertz being wasteful with a clear cut chance, the scoreline flattered the away side. In hindsight, the lack of great urgency one we scored the first can be handy at this time of year when the games come thick and fast.

In summary, Amorim is no mug though. He’s warned the fanbase about what’s to come, and last night he showed them why emphatically. Utd may have ditched Ten Hag, but the bad results and frustration will continue for some time.

            We gave it away
Caoimhin Kelleher has been immense for us, not just this season but for his entire Liverpool career, so no aspersions cast his way tonight. But, (BUT !) he’s got to punch that clear. He’s got to. Absolute Goalkeeping 101 howler at that stage of the match with mere minutes left to run. Feel a bit sick thinking about it.

Still, to trail twice in soggy, feral conditions and to come away battling with a point, it could be worse. We’ve gone and played uphill x2 the entire second half, once by way of the scoreboard, and once by way of the dodgy, tilted St. James’ pitch (you’re telling me that box-to-box fairway gradient somehow meets Premier League standard ?!).

And you know, we could have a Biscuithands or the like between our sticks, but instead we’ve got Caoimhin Kelleher on, and as a deputy option no less. It really could be worse. Count thy blessings, take the solitary, greasy point, rest and recuperate, go again.
Eric, Los Angeles CA (Salah’s done F-all for an hour but come away now leading the golden boot. Show him the dotted line already.)

            O’Neil out
I have been behind him for all this time, all this season, all last season, and let’s not dent it he worked wonders for us last season, whilst also seeming to be a top bloke.

We also had a terrible run of fixtures at the start of this season, and I didn’t want us judging this season on us playing all the best teams in the league, and a 98th minute goal conceded to lose 2-1 against Man City. However, this is it, this is the final straw Gary O’Neil needs to go, and he needs to go now!

This isn’t his fault entirely. When we sold Collins I hadn’t seen him play a good game for us so I thought no big deal. Then we sold Kilman and never replaced him, we sold Neto, we sold Nunes (who cares) and I know who we are, we are a club who buys cheap and sells high…that is fine, but the owners no longer want to invest that money from selling players into the club. They need to sell the club to someone who gives a shit and f*ck off out of Wolverhampton.
            Andrew Gorman

            Man Utd and the rainbows
I really didn’t like the news about the United squad dropping the rainbow jackets. That did not make me feel good about the team. But then, they’ve been continually disappointing me for an over a decade now…

This whole thing seems to have sparked a half decent debate in the mailbox though, whilst waking up a fair few morons. I think there’s a general feeling among a certain section of the population that “no one cares what people do in their private lives” which invariably seems to be mixed with “leave the kids alone”. A kind of intolerance dressed up as intolerance if you will.

I think Sam Morsy had every right to refuse to wear the arm band. I don’t agree with his beliefs but he has a right to them. He’s not impinging anyone’s human rights, he is not compelled to promote LGTBQIA+ rights any more than I am compelled in 2024 to accept that there is a God.

However, in doing so he invites scrutiny as everyone else’s right to have an opinion kicks in. That scrutiny was rightly applied by F365 and Mr Tickner. If he didn’t want to face that scrutiny he wouldn’t have played or he would have worn the armband – and I suspect invited much worse scrutiny in his country of origin for whom he was an International. Them’s the shakes. He made his decision and will deal with the consequences. It’s unfortunate that these beliefs exist and I don’t think they are acceptable but fortunately, the Thought Police is not a real thing. Officially anyway.

And Mazraoui has exactly the same right not to wear rainbow jackets and invite the exact same scrutiny upon himself. Again, wearing the jacket is likely to bring a deal of hostility in his country of origin, for which he is a current International. He could have worn the jacket or not played, but he has made his choice. Again, one I don’t agree with.

The Manchester United Team have made a complete hash of this though. In attempting to enable Mazraoui to avoid scrutiny they have invited scrutiny on themselves. If supporting the cause was important to the other players they would have worn it anyway. By choosing a team mate, they’ve indicated that they were all merely virtue signaling. In turn, if Mazraoui was that steadfast in his beliefs, it wouldn’t have bothered him to be the only one not wearing the jackets as he would’ve explained it.

Of course, the players’ biggest miscalculation was that this wouldn’t come out. They’ve tried to stick together as a team in the leakiest dressing room and club English football has ever known. So to try and protect a team mate from airing a questionable belief (which he’s done before by the way) they’ve managed to highlight yet another split within the team.

And that’s to say nothing of any further damage between the club and its supporters and the wider LGBTQIA+ community.

The problem with letting people not wear the armbands or jackets and then shielding them from scrutiny is exactly as F365 call it. It’s tolerating intolerance. It’s intolerance dressed as tolerance. If you don’t want to support gay or trans people then fine. But you better have a good reason that you’re able to articulate.

The problem for those people is that there isn’t a good reason except “belief”.

In 2024 that should be intolerable.

United request January meeting with lightning-quick transfer target to strike early deal – report

                united-request-january-meeting-with-lightning-quick-transfer-target-to-strike-early-deal-–-report

Manchester United have reportedly requested Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies and his agent for a meeting in January, in a bid to try and reach an agreement over a free transfer.

The left-back position is believed to be an area of the pitch United are keen on strengthening, either during the winter transfer window or in the summer.

Luke Shaw’s injury struggles seem to be far from over as he recently picked up another issue, which is set to keep him sidelined for weeks.

At the moment, Tyrell Malacia is the only natural left-back who is available to Ruben Amorim for selection. However, there are still question marks over the Dutchman’s fitness after an extremely lengthy period on the sidelines.

In the two games he has featured since his return to action – against Bodo/Glimt and Arsenal – Malacia was on the pitch for only 45 minutes before being withdrawn.

In his post-match presser after the Arsenal game, Amorim admitted that Malacia’s minutes are currently being limited to ensure he is gently eased back.

Some of the left-backs United continue to be linked to include Davies, Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth), Antonee Robinson (Fulham), Alvaro Fernandez (Benfica) and Theo Hernandez (AC Milan).

Davies in particular is thought to be a key target for United, considering he is on the brink of becoming a free agent.

The Canada international has yet to agree terms of a new contract with Bayern and if there is no breakthrough in talks, he will be free to speak to other clubs in January.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Bayern have made significant progress regarding a fresh deal for the lightning-quick full-back.

It was stated that negotiations are positive, with Davies keen on remaining at the Allianz Arena. The report added that United are aware that Davies is likely to extend his stay in Bavaria.

However, according to BILD journalist Christian Falk, Bayern are yet to accept Davies’ demands.

Falk further notes that United are working to get a sit-down in January with the 24-year-old star and his representatives, presumably to try and convince him about a potential switch to Old Trafford.

Falk wrote on X, “Manchester United have asked Alphonso Davies (24) and his Manager for a Meeting in January.”

“Davies is a free Agent in Summer and he can then negotiate and sign with another club from January 1st.”

“Bayern have not yet accepted the demand of €16 million salary per year and €15 million signing fee.”

Davies has made 19 appearances across all competitions this season, registering three assists in that period.

Neville brands Arsenal genius as ‘the most annoying man in football’ after Man Utd win

Gary Neville has described Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover as “the most annoying bloke in football” after the Gunners beat Man Utd 2-0 on Wednesday night.

After Thomas Partey and Gabriel Martinelli both missed good chances from corners in the first-half, Jurrien Timber opened the scoring for Arsenal with a header from a corner on 59 minutes.

Joshua Zirkzee almost scored an own-goal from another brilliant Gunners corner before yet another brilliant delivery from a corner saw William Saliba turn in Arsenal’ second goal of the game on 73 minutes.

Man Utd had kept Arsenal at bay in the first half, after beating Everton 4-0 over the weekend, but the Gunners outclassed them in the second half to close the gap to seven points on Premier League leaders Liverpool.

And after witnessing Arsenal pummel Man Utd with corner after corner, Neville claimed Gunners set-piece coach Jover has “got to be the most annoying bloke in football”.

Speaking on a live watchalong for The Overlap, Neville said: “The set-piece coach at Arsenal, he’s got to be the most annoying bloke in football.

“He’s got to be, hasn’t he? He’s got to be though, hasn’t he?”

Fellow pundit Jamie Carragher added: “I’ll tell you what, give him what he wants.

“If you was that set-piece coach for Arsenal, you could write your own contract, couldn’t you? You couldn’t get rid of him.

“You know, if he said, “I want 25 grand a week”, you’d have to give it to him, wouldn’t you?”

Speaking about Jover’s role at Arsenal earlier this week, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: “He’s a very special person and obviously someone very close to me. I went to war for him at City because I felt there was a big room for improvement in that department.

“I contacted him and I suggested to Pep (for him) to come and help us. Since then we’ve been extremely close.

“We share a clear vision of how we want to put everything together, about how everything is connected, aligned and can work efficiently in our team.

“There are a lot of other people who put a lot of effort and thought and hours into that, but for sure he is someone who is very, very important for the team.”

Another set-piece analyst Mads Buttgereit has previously described Jover – who Arsenal poached from Man City – as a “genius”.

Buttgereit told Sky Sports: “I always had a passion for set-pieces but at that point I was still a normal coach, in a normal coaching role. I think, after meeting him, I began to see myself more as a set-piece specialist.

“Nicolas is a genius in the way he thinks and the way he creates the plans. Sitting with him and discussing different set-plays, you feel everything has an exact thought behind it.

“There are no coincidences at any point in any routine. Whenever we discussed set-pieces, it was never simple. We could discuss a specific corner routine for over an hour, not a problem.

“We would go through every aspect and go through what the opponent would then do. It was very, very detailed.

“There are a few set-piece coaches who I know personally but, in my mind, I think Nicolas is the best. He is fantastic.”

“Queuing up for his signature”: Former chief scout says multiple PL teams are eyeing United star next summer

Ruben Amorim suffered his first defeat as Manchester United boss on Wednesday with Arsenal prevailing 2-0 at home thanks to two set-piece goals in the first half.

Considering how ineffective the hosts were from open play, the Portuguese could have gone more attacking in the first half, something he might rue looking back.

The defence played well with Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire impressing, with the England international returning to the starting lineup after nine games out injured.

He was decent on the night and will be looking to make more of an impact moving forward, especially as his current deal ends in 2025.

                    Maguire’s future

The club can trigger a one-year extension option but the centre-back is hopeful of earning a new deal with Amorim having a say in who will earn a new contract at the club.

Amad Diallo has earned the boss’ approval and it will be interesting to see if the former skipper sticks around at the club in the long-term.

Even if he does not earn the new head coach’s trust, former United chief scout Mick Brown is aware of interest of multiple Premier League teams in the Englishman, including West Ham who had famously come close to signing him a few years ago.

He told Football Insider, “There are Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on the situation. Any club who wants a solid and experienced leader and centre-back will be interested in Harry Maguire.

Lot of PL interest in Maguire

“He’s a huge threat from set-pieces, both defending and attacking them, and he’s good on the ball. He was England’s first-choice centre-back for years so he’s got so much experience.

“I was constantly on about him when I was at West Ham, but they made an offer of £20 million for him and it was quickly rejected.

“They’re still looking at singing a new centre-back now, so I’d expect that interest is still there. If United decide to let him go at the end of the season, there are clubs queuing up for his signature, so he won’t be short of options.”

He was brought to the club by former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for a record £80 million back in 2019 and has had to face a lot of criticism since his move.

But as seen from the Arsenal game, the 31-year-old is suited more to the three-at-the back system and he could be a quality backup for the head coach if he can keep impressing.

Two Manchester United players have joined Bruno Fernandes on the shortlist for the Premier League’s November 2024 awards.

Earlier today, it emerged that Fernandes is among a number of Premier League stars who have been nominated for the Player of the Month award.

Fernandes was a standout performer in November, which saw him find the back of the net against Chelsea and Leicester.

He converted from the spot-kick in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea and produced a fantastic shot in the meeting with Leicester at Old Trafford, which ended in a 3-0 victory for United. The Red Devils skipper also assisted Garnacho during the Leicester game.

Alejandro Garnacho and Andre Onana have earned nominations for the Goal of the Month and Save of the Month awards, respectively.

Garnacho’s stunning curling strike against Leicester is in contention for the November Goal of the Month honour.

The Argentine came on from the bench to score United’s third of the match, ultimately securing the victory and ensuring all three points were in the bag.

Other top-flight players vying for the Goal of the Month are Salah Leif Davis, Emerson, Harry Wilson and Cunha, who has three entries for this category.

Voting for this award closes at 13:00 GMT on Monday. You can vote for Garnacho here.

Finally, Onana’s fabulous save to deny Liam Delap at Ipswich Town – in what was Ruben Amorim’s first match as United boss – is in with the chance of winning Save of the Month.

Delap looked like he was guaranteed to find the back of the net but Onana made himself big and thwarted the Ipswich talisman.

Other goalkeepers in the running are Aaron Ramsadale (Southampton), Lukasz Fabianski (West Ham), Bernd Leno (Fulham), Mark Flekken (Brentford) and Mads Hermansen (Leicester City).
