He had one key pass in the match and also completed three of his four cross attempts as he was a constant threat from wide positions. Ennis was also quite accurate on the ball, completing 81% of his pass attempts. The youngster didn’t manage to have any shots on goals but did complete two of his three tackle attempts. He also got through significant defensive work, making five clearances and winning 100% of his aerial duels. He made 86% of his passes but failed to have any sort of shot on goal in a quiet game from an attacking sense. Gore made one tackle, a clearance and four interceptions to help preserve his side’s clean sheet. He recovered the ball five times and came out on top in three of his duels. Habeeb Ogunneye The full back got through another 90 minutes in his side’s latest defeat to Shrewsbury Town. He completed 79% of his passes and his only cross failed to reach a teammate. Ogunneye did have one shot on target in the match and it was classified as a big chance missed for his team. The 20 year old was poor in his duels though, winning just one of his five ground contests. Video: 1 goal, 91% pass accuracy, 7 duels won: United star stamps authority all over blockbuster international win
Manchester United had three players in international action on Saturday. Casemiro The Brazilian has had an outstanding season to date and there are rumours that United may even extend his contract at the end of the season. The Brazilian veteran’s importance has continued to grow with his national side and he was once again crucial in their 2-0 victory over Senegal. He scored his side’s second of the game when a clever run at the back post took him away from Senegal’s defence. Casemiro took the ball down well and curled a fine effort into the net to give the Brazilians some breathing space. The midfielder played the entire 90 minutes and made one key pass in the match. He also had a passing accuracy of 91%. The 33 year old also missed another big chance to grab a brace. He was strong defensively winning two tackles and six ground duels in the match. He also won one aerial contest. He headed a difficult cross towards goal but his effort unluckily cannoned off the woodwork. He also hit the post later on in the game as he searched for another Brazilian goal. Cunha had four shots in total and also completed two dribble attempts. The tenacious attacker also got through significant defensive work, winning six ground duels and one aerial battle. Patrick Dorgu Dorgu was also involved in Denmark’s 2-2 draw with Belarus. He won two tackles, made one clearance and two interceptions in the match. Dorgu was also combative in defence, winning seven ground duels and his only aerial contest. He also contributed in attack with three key passes and one big chance created. The young fullback also almost scored another international goal but had his shot well saved by the Belarussian keeper. Video: United Women suffer derby day blues as City run riot in convincing 3-0 win
Manchester United Women fell to a crushing defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad. First half After the high of the thrilling win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday, United struggled to get into gear in this contest. City almost opened the scoring in the 4th minute when Vivianne Miedema smashed an effort off of the post. Just a minute later, Anna Sandberg made a terrific block to stop Yui Hasegawa at the back post as City had United on the ropes. On 17 minutes Ella Toone had United’s first real chance but her volley from a corner spun harmlessly wide. City finally had the breakthrough after 26 minutes however. Lauren Hemp curled a wonderful corner into the back post for Khadija Shaw to nod back across goal and Rebecca Knaak was on hand to guide a header into the top corner to give the Citizens the lead. United tried to respond with some nice play just outside the City box but it was the hosts who claimed the vital second goal on 43 minutes. Khadija Shaw nicked in front of United keeper Safia Middleton-Patel to turn Kerstin Casparij’s low cross into the back of the net, to put a huge smile on the home crowd’s faces. United lost their heads for a moment when just before the half-time whistle, they gave the ball away in their own half and Lauren Hemp rifled an effort into the top corner in a clinical display. Marc Skinner’s side went into the half-time break three goals down to their table-topping rivals. Second half Melvine Malard’s introduction brought a bit more zip to the United attack but it was actually Hemp who almost grabbed City’s fourth but her chip from distance just evaded the visitor’s goal. United finally had a serious attack in the 71st minute when former City player Jess Park got free but her long-range effort struck the post. It took United to added time to register a shot on target when Maya Le Tissier’s header was cleared from goal by Jade Rose on her own goal line. Hannah Blundell also had a late chance from a corner to grab a consolation but her finishing let her down. United lost the encounter 0-3 and fell seven points behind leaders City at the top of the table. United will have to recover quickly as they have the daunting task of facing Wolfsburg away in the Champions League on Wednesday. United have their eyes on French wonderkid duo, Yoro knows them well – report
Since INEOS have come onboard, Manchester United have been extra active when it comes to trying and unearth the next hidden gem. Leny Yoro is already a bonafide first team star, while the likes of Sekou Kone, and Chido Obi, just to name a few are also looking like they will eventually make it to the top. The co-owners have already agreed a pre-agreement with Cristian Orozco, and have been scouting Argentine U17 World Cup hero Felipe Esquivel. Now, as per French journalist François Rauzy, the Red Devils are keeping tabs on French wonderkids Jeremy Jacquet and Mohamed Kader Meite. Jeremy Jacquet and Mohamed Kader Meite on United’s radar However, they are not alone and United will need to get a move on if they are to edge ahead of the chasing pack. “A ManUtd scout present for Jacquet and Meïté at Jean Bouin against the PFC (Paris FC),” the reporter wrote on X (formerly Twitter). But as things stand for these two players, it’ll soon be more relevant to name the big European clubs that aren’t scouting them rather than the other way around.” Yoro knows both of them well from his exploits with the France U21 national team, and it seems the 20-time English league champions are also impressed. Wonderkids are Yoro’s teammates Jacquet is an imposing centre-back, and is already a regular for the Stade Rennais side, having started all 12 Ligue 1 matches this term. At 20, he is ready for the next step in his career. As for Mohamed Kader Meite, he is only 18 but already has four goals and two assists for Stade Rennais, including a match-winning display against Olympique Lyonnais earlier this season. Maybe Yoro can put in a good word with his French U21 teammates to ensure United ultimately win the race. It is clear from the interest the duo are generating that United cannot afford to wait for too long if they are actually serious about winning the transfer race. Wilcox pushing United to raid Newcastle for incredible talent who can plug two crucial gaps in the squad – report
Despite his repeated inclusions, Ruben Amorim will not be impressed with Diogo Dalot’s form and Manchester United are expected to act to rectify this next summer. The Portugal international has been a huge liability, both defensively and offensively, irrespective of whether he has started on the right or the left. The former Porto star is not a wingback, something Amorim’s system relies on. Amad has impressed going forward but there are question marks about his defensive game. Patrick Dorgu, signed last January, remains a work in progress, and a versatile wingback capable of playing on either flank would suit United’s needs. Wingback needed And as per Ben Jacobs (via Teamtalk), the Red Devils really like Tino Livramento of Newcastle United due to his ability to do a job on either side. A left wingback is what United need most currently, while him playing on the right would free Amad to play closer to goal. A win-win situation with the Red Devils hitting two birds with one stone. United’s Director of Football Jason Wilcox, who worked with the Englishman during his time at Southampton, is pushing the 20-time English league champions to go after the 23-year-old. “The beauty of Tino Livramento is he can play on both sides. So, I can understand why Manchester United would like the player. And let’s not forget that Jason Wilcox knows him incredibly well. So, he’s a factor in all of this as well.” The England international is reportedly on top of Manchester City’s wishlist while the Magpies are also desperate to tie him down to a new long-term contract. The Chelsea academy graduate’s current deal is valid until 2028, and this means United will not have it easy if they are to sign Tino Livramento. United like Tino Livramento “Man City seem to be the club, speaking to sources, that are most adamant on trying to get Tino Livramento in 2026. But, of course, if they make progress and the feeling becomes that Newcastle might sell, then other clubs will come forward. “It is absolutely true that Manchester United have people that appreciate Tino Livramento but it’s simply not gone further than that and Ross Wilson, who’s the new sporting director at Newcastle, has just come in and one of his first tasks along with a few others at the club is to get Livramento to sign a new deal.” Despite INEOS having their eyes on the fullback for a while now, his injury record is not too great. This season he has already missed nine games, while two seasons back, he was out for 56 days with three separate injuries. In his final Southampton season, Livramento was out for over a year. However, he is Premier League-proven, which seems to be INEOS’ transfer mantra at the moment, and would be a valuable addition given the options at Amorim’s disposal currently. Why United’s medical staff took the risk of taking off Sesko vs Spurs now explained – report
Manchester United secured a last-gasp 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur away from home last weekend despite playing the last 10 minutes with a man disadvantage. It was the visitors who had taken the lead through Bryan Mbeumo but Spurs scored twice within quick succession, with Richarlison’s strike coming in added time. With Benjamin Sesko forced off injured, and no subs left for the Red Devils, up stepped Matthijs de Ligt in the last minute of added time to secure an important point. The Slovenian, who started on the bench, came on in the 58th minute and had two glorious chances to score United’s second. But he fluffed his lines on both occasions. Poor cameo from Benjamin Sesko It was a poor cameo and his day was made worse when he pulled up due to a knee injury. United’s medical team came onto the pitch and signalled the coaching staff that the 22-year-old was in no position to continue. Fans feared the worst, but it came as a pleasant surprise to hear Amorim say during the post-match press conference that the ex-RB Leipzig ace’s injury was not too serious. Then why could he not have soldiered on for another 10 minutes? It was because United were down to 10 men that the home side managed to find the back of the net a second time. The Slovenian national team manager’s reaction during the international break also raised further questions regarding United’s call to take him off. Centredevils have now claimed that the medical staff took the call to sub him off as a precautionary measure as if he would have played on, the chances of the United No.30 getting seriously injured would have drastically increased. Substitution call “There was also a huge amount of outrage from supporters, with some believing that the Slovenian came off the pitch due to embarrassment of his missed chance. “Benjamin Sesko was made to come off by the medical staff and coaches during the Tottenham Hotspur clash, with the attacker deemed physically unfit to continue at that time. “The club are insistent that this was the right decision for the Slovenian to leave the pitch, as if he carried on, he could’ve risked a further serious injury. Sesko has been assessed and monitored all week in Carrington, with the injury not being deemed as major.” Hopefully, Benjamin Sesko is back fit for the games against Everton and Crystal Palace later this month. Or else, INEOS might need to dip into the January market for solutions. United considering club record move to sign incredible talent ahead of four European giants – report
Manchester United failed in their bid to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion over the summer. However, the Red Devils were serious in their pursuit and even agreed personal terms with Baleba. The approach suggests that United had the budget to sign a high-profile midfielder despite spending over £200 million on attacking reinforcements. Ruben Amorim reportedly remains eager to strengthen his midfield and United could dig into their deep pockets mid-season. Manchester United to fight for Adam Wharton According to Defensa Central, United are among five clubs keeping tabs on Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the Premier League’s most technically secure midfielders in possession. The England international excels at dictating the tempo of the game, drawing comparisons to United legend Michael Carrick. The Spanish outlet claim United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have all entered the bidding for Wharton, who is also admired by Real Madrid. The Eagles recruited him from Blackburn Rovers nearly 20 months ago for just over £20m. The report states: “Everything indicates that he could leave Crystal Palace, and these teams would be willing to take him on.” Wharton focused on Palace and England Wharton, meanwhile, is relaxed about his future and is focused on being part of Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad. In a recent interview with The Athletic, Wharton addressed rumours linking him with top clubs. “I don’t really look into it or think too much about it,” Wharton said. “There are always rumours floating about on social media. Is it true? Is it not? You tell me.” Interestingly, his teammate Daniel Munoz has chosen not to shy away from talking about his transfer aspirations. Recently, the 29-year-old Colombian full-back admitted that United would be one of his “dream” destinations. United will be offered the chance to sign “world-class” hitman in January amid Sesko injury fears – report
Despite Manchester United’s thrilling last-gasp point against Tottenham Hotspur, Ruben Amorim remains a worried man given his options in attack. Benjamin Sesko, who came on as a second-half substitute, suffered a knee injury and had to leave the field. As a result, the Red Devils had to play on with 10 men for the rest of the game. Even though the head coach pointed out that the injury was not as serious, the 22-year-old had to withdraw from international duty. Should he fail to recover soon, Amorim will only have Joshua Zirkzee, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha as options to cover for the Slovenian. Sesko injury fears Neither of them are natural No.9s while the Cameroonian is expected to depart for the AFCON next month. With the Dutchman’s future also up in the air, INEOS might need to dip into the market for an alternative. And as revealed by Teamtalk, Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy could be a surprise option for the Red Devils to try and add to their roster during the January window. The Guinean will reportedly be offered to INEOS by intermediaries given the 20-time English league champions’ need for attacking reinforcements. The Dortmund No.9 has a special release clause in his contract that can be triggered by only certain clubs, and United are among those select few. Serhou Guirassy to be offered to United “Manchester United will be offered the chance to sign Serhou Guirassy in the January transfer window, sources have told TEAMtalk. “Sources have told TEAMtalk that Guirassy could be offered to Man Utd before the end of the season. While it is probably not going to be the right timing for Man Utd, there is a belief that Guirassy could look for a transfer from Borussia Dortmund. “Guirassy has a special release clause – with a handful of top clubs able to sign him. Man Utd are a team that are expected to be offered the opportunity to secure the 29-year-old goal machine’s signature.” The former VfB Stuttgart hitman has seven goals and four assists this season, but has not scored in his last six Bundesliga games. On top of that, United are wary of adding a striker to compete with Sesko for the lone position up top as they do not want to stall the ex-RB Leipzig ace’s development. United’s answer revealed The Old Trafford side will only be pressed into action if Zirkzee leaves in the winter as then it would open up a slot. “Man Utd likely to reject Serhou Guirassy offer. At the moment, the stance seems that Man Utd would not want a striker of Guirassy’s profile because of the threat it would pose to Benjamin Sesko. “Man Utd are torn over adding another striker to the squad because they do not want to block Sesko’s pathway to becoming a top Premier League number nine. The consideration towards bringing someone in would become more genuine if they decide to let Joshua Zirkzee leave.” Serhou Guirassy would reportedly cost €50 million, a fee INEOS might not have in their coffers, especially mid-season. A lot will depend on Sesko’s recovery and Zirkzee’s future. “Has been outstanding”: Sir Alex Ferguson lavishes praise on United’s surprise package of the season
Senne Lammens has made a promising early impression at Manchester United. Ahead of the current season, Ruben Amorim prioritised revamping his attack despite concerns over Andre Onana’s form last term. Eventually, Amorim was left with no choice but to bring in a new shot-stopper as both Onana and Altay Bayindir made frustrating errors early in the season. Lammens has made a bright start to life at Manchester United The choice was between Lammens and Emiliano Martinez, and the club’s hierarchy decided to place their trust in the relatively inexperienced Belgian. United agreed to sign the 23-year-old from Royal Antwerp for £18.2m on deadline day, a bold decision given he only had one full season as Royal Antwerp’s number one under his belt. Statistically, Lammens was an appealing target, as he made more saves than any other goalkeeper in any of Europe’s top-10 leagues last season. His impressive passing ability also made him an ideal fit for Amorim’s direct style of play. The youngster had to wait over a month for his debut against Sunderland in October. He helped the Red Devils keep their first clean sheet of the campaign in a 2-0 win. The Belgian remains unbeaten as a United player, having started all of their last five games. Lammens earns praise from Man United legend Sir Alex Ferguson hailed United’s latest addition in a brief chat with Raceday RTV. When asked about his former club’s recent run of form, Ferguson said: “Well, they are, the signs… the manager has had some good signs. “Particularly the goalkeeper has been outstanding, he’s only played three or four games and he’s looking really good.” Ferguson also underlined Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha’s impact at the Theatre of Dreams. “Of course, Mbeumo and Cunha, the new players from Wolves and Brentford, they have added to it,” he added. United planning another assault on PL side who are in no position to stop star man from jumping ship – report
Manchester United need midfield reinforcements, especially at the base, given the quality at Ruben Amorim’s disposal currently. Casemiro has turned his United career around after struggling under the Portuguese initially. He is the first name on the teamsheet at the moment but has not completed 90 minutes even a single time this campaign. The Red Devils thought they had hit the jackpot when they signed Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain as the Brazilian’s long-term successor. However, the Uruguayan has been a massive disappointment, and his fortunes have not changed even after his former Sporting CP boss took over at the helm. United’s need for midfielders With Kobbie Mainoo not suited to the defensive midfield role as per Amorim, the 20-time English league champions have been on the hunt for a viable alternative since the summer. Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, and Elliot Anderson are among the top targets, but each of them will cost a bomb, which explains why INEOS have not launched an all-out assault. The co-owners would prefer a Premier League-proven performer, and Joao Gomes of Wolverhampton Wanderers fits the bill. The Brazilian midfield dynamo has been a long-term target for the club and with Wolves languishing at the bottom of the Premier League table, it is quite certain that the 24-year-old will not be at the Molineux for much longer. Joao Gomes, the perfect fit As per Football Insider, the West Midlands outfit will not be able to resist any bids should they suffer relegation at the end of the campaign. “Man United are among a number of teams plotting moves to sign Joao Gomes amid a growing expectation that Wolves could be forced to sell their star man. “United could be boosted in their pursuit of the midfielder as Wolves will be forced to accept offers for him should they suffer relegation from the Premier League. Another assault on Wolves “As a result of the ongoing turmoil at Molineux, a number of “top clubs” in the Premier League and abroad have sent scouts to keep tabs on his performances.” Wolves were powerless to stop Matheus Cunha from joining the Old Trafford side last summer, and Joao Gomes could follow suit. The “pitbull” as he is called, has been among the few standout performers for the club, ranking in the top 95 percentile for duels won, and in the 90th percentile for dribbles completed (all stats via fotmob). This shows that the Brazil international is not only adept at shielding the back four, but he is more than competent with the ball. This puts him a league above Ugarte based on current form.
