Man Utd: Mainoo to Chelsea given seal of approval as Romano provides update; key to replacement revealed

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Kobbie Mainoo to Chelsea while the key to Manchester United signing his potential replacement from Serie A has been revealed.

Mainoo was previously heralded as one of United’s ‘untouchable’ stars along with Alejandro Garnacho, but the club’s dire finances now mean every player has a price.

Chelsea have leapt to the front of the queue to sign Mainoo, who is said to be ‘unhappy’ with the initial terms offered by INEOS in negotiations over a new contract.

Mainoo currently earns just £20,000 per week, a drop in the ocean compared to Casemiro’s £350,000 per week wedge, and wants a salary that reflects his importance to the team.

United are keen to keep their academy graduate but are also open to offers – from Chelsea or other suitors – as his pure profit sale would be a huge help as they look to stay within the bounds of PSR guidelines.

Should Mainoo leave the club, United will need to source a replacement, and even if he doesn’t Amorim would welcome new midfield recruits with both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen on their last legs.

Reports claim they’ve been offered the chance to sign Douglas Luiz, who joined Juventus for £42.4m in the summer but has started just two games under Thiago Motta this season, with Manuel Locatelli, Khephren Thuram and Teun Koopmeiners preferred in midfield.

The Brazil international is keen on a return to the Premier League and Italian journalist Ciro Venerato has revealed that United are one of the clubs keen to sign him this winter.

It’s claimed Juventus want to recoup most of what they spent on Luiz in the summer but would consider a loan with an obligation to buy, though the Serie A giants are also interested in Joshua Zirkzee and would be open to some sort of swap deal.

Kia Joorabchan, who represents both Luiz and Zirkzee, is understandably thought to be key to the transfer.

Chelsea would likely be eager to see that deal go through in the hope that it will ease their path to Mainoo, and his potential move to Stamford Bridge has been given the seal of approval by England international teammate Cole Palmer.

Instagram user @TheSecretScout1 asked their followers if Mainoo joining Chelsea would be a good move and Palmer gave the post a thumbs up.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that while Chelsea hold an interest in Mainoo, it’s far from a “desperate situation for Manchester United”.

“What I can tell you, many of your messages are about this Chelsea story, I think it’s absolutely normal for all top clubs in the world – Chelsea for sure – but also many others to appreciate a player like Kobbie Mainoo,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“How can you not love a talent like Kobbie Mainoo? A guy who was in the academy one year ago, then a fantastic rise with Man United, Euros – don’t forget what this boy did for the English national team as a kid. So, it’s absolutely normal to fall in love with Kobbie Mainoo, especially if you’re an English club.

“But, that’s it at the moment. My headline is not ‘Chelsea like Kobbie Mainoo’ because that’s absolutely obvious and normal.

“But, the point here for Manchester United is that there are no negotiations with any other club, no bid on the table, the situation is completely quiet. The player is under contract till 2027 plus an option until 2028. So it’s not a desperate situation for Manchester United.”

Four United youngsters in senior training ahead of Arsenal clash, including 16-yo Amorim says is “ready for PL”

Four Manchester United youngsters have been called up to first team training this week.

The Red Devils are in the middle of a rare full week’s training as they prepare for their FA Cup tie with Arsenal on Sunday.

United have a rich tradition of giving young players a chance and academy players making their debut in cup competitions.

There have been fears that this season would see a reduction in the amount of youth minutes due to the team getting used to Ruben Amorim’s system but four youngsters have been present in training.

The Manchester Evening News reports that “Elyh Harrison trained with the Manchester United first-team on Wednesday after being recalled from his loan spell with Chester City, while there was also an opportunity to impress for midfielder Jack Moorhouse.”

Harrison had impressed in the National League, keeping seven clean sheets in 18 matches.

The club will now prioritise trying to find a higher level for the Reserve Team Player of the Year to play at in the second half of the season.

Moorhouse has also been rewarded for his fine displays for the academy where he particularly impressed “in the National League Cup win at Altrincham in November, catching the eye with his driving runs from midfield, and was excellent in the last Premier League 2 fixture of 2024, scoring twice in the 5-1 win against Southampton.”

The 19 year old recently made the step up to under 21s football and has scored two goals in five appearances.

“Defenders Godwill Kukonki, 16, and Tyler Fredricson, 19, were also part of the first-team training group.”

Kukonki has become a more regular feature of the first team squad, having made the final 18 against both Arsenal and Newcastle United. He has received high praise from his boss Amorim.

The Portuguese manager commented that the 16 year old defender is already ready for the Premier League and it seems only a matter of time before he is given an opportunity to make his senior debut at the club.

Finally, Fredricson has also been a stalwart of the under 21s side this season, playing 10 games in defence and scoring one goal.

Mainoo insulted by Casemiro wages as he leads Premier League underpaid list

Now we know the notion of any Premier League player being ‘underpaid’ is ludicrous, but it’s all about context and there is always context – like Casemiro being paid almost 20 times more than Kobbie Mainoo.

We have chosen one per Premier League club based on the figures from Capology, who have ‘verified’ many of these wages…

        ARSENAL: Gabriel (£100,000 a week)
He’s an Arsenal defensive stalwart but he still earns less than Kieran Tierney, significantly less than Oleksandr Zinchenko and not much more than a third of the £280,000 handed to Kai Havertz every week to be significantly worse than Alexander Isak.

ASTON VILLA: Morgan Rogers (£75,000 a week)
The daft sod only signed a new deal in November but has found himself still earning considerably less than Leon Bailey (£150,000). Rogers has six Premier League goals this season to the Jamaican’s one.

BOURNEMOUTH: Milos Kerkez (£30,000 a week)
The world and his wife are hawking ‘Kerkez to Liverpool’ rumours but the Hungarian actually earns about half as much as Tyler Adams at the Cherries.

BRENTFORD: Kevin Schade (£10,000 a week)
Now he’s a) in the team and b) scoring goals, he might want to ask why he earns a seventh of the sum reportedly handed to Aaron Hickey every week.

BRIGHTON: Yasin Ayari (£8,000 a week)
He’s only 21 so that is still a fair whack of money, but the Swede has started 11 Premier League games this season while Ferdi Kadioglu has started five for his reported £87,500 a week. Lesson: Buying from Fenerbahce is expensive.

CHELSEA: Malo Gusto and Romeo Lavia (£45,000 a week)
One downside of signing a 17-year contract might be that your wages over a five-year deal are simply spread over however many years it takes you to lose the will to live. Particularly galling when Ben Chilwell is earning £200,000 a week to do the square root of f*** all.

CRYSTAL PALACE: Adam Wharton (£35,000 a week)
That probably seemed like a lot until he heard that Eddie Nketiah earns £90,000 a week.

EVERTON: Dwight McNeil (£25,000 a week)
Clearly, if you sign players from East Lancashire clubs, they are just grateful to escape. It’s obviously a whole heap of money, but Abdoulaye Doucoure somehow earns more than five times his wages. He’s good but…

FULHAM: Antonee Robinson (£50,000 a week)
Not one of the lowest earners at Fulham but in the middle ranks along with Harrison Reed and Kenny Tete when really, he should be in the £100,000-a-week bracket with Raul Jimenez and Bernd Leno.

IPSWICH TOWN: Omari Hutchinson (£6,000 a week)
We really hope he is on some sort of survival bonus because he is doing as much as anybody to try and keep the Tractor Boys in the Premier League. We really, really hope Ipswich are paying only a fraction of the £150,000 a week being paid to Kalvin Phillips…

LEICESTER CITY: Mads Hermansen (£10,000 a week)
After single-handedly (we spot a problem) trying to keep the Foxes in the Premier League in the first stretch of the season, he is now injured. And still earning so, so much less than loanee Odsonne Edouard (£90,000 a week).

LIVERPOOL: Curtis Jones (£15,000 a week)
While Trent Alexander-Arnold seeks a hike on his £180,000-a-week wages, he should perhaps spare a thought for his fellow England international on about 8% of his salary.

MANCHESTER CITY: Rico Lewis (£25,000 a week)
It’s always the homegrown players who are scrapping around on a mere £1.3m a year, while Matheus Nunes swans about on £6.76m, or about £130,000 a week. It’s not Kevin de Bruyne money, but he’s not got Kevin de Bruyne skills.

MANCHESTER UNITED: Kobbie Mainoo (£20,000 a week)
He is said to be unhappy with Man Utd’s initial offer of new terms, which will take him nowhere close to the £350,000 a week being trousered by Casemiro.

NEWCASTLE UNITED: Lewis Hall (£7,000 a week)
We are taking this with a massive pinch of salt as this would put him below John Ruddy. If you want big wages, you really need to join on a free transfer like Lloyd Kelly and his reported £150,000 a week.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST: Anthony Elanga (£25,000 a week)
At least he can thumb his nose at Mainoo, still earning less at Manchester United than Elanga at Forest. Meanwhile, are Forest paying all of James Ward-Prowse’s £115,000-a-week wages for his five Premier League starts?

SOUTHAMPTON: Tyler Dibling (£5,000 a week)
It’s hardly apprentice wages but it’s sod all in football terms for one of the Saints’ few bright sparks in a ridiculously bad season. Especially when Aaron Ramsdale is on a reported £120,000 a week for a fool’s errand.

TOTTENHAM: Micky van de Ven (£50,000 a week)
Sizeable wages compared to some on this list, but when compared to the £165,000 a week reportedly paid to Timo Werner, it’s a relative pittance for Spurs’ best defender.

        WEST HAM: N/A
None of these f***ers are underpaid.

        WOLVES: Rayan Ait-Nouri (£10,000 a week)
Another of those underpaid left-backs being targeted by bigger clubs, Ait-Nouri knows that there is bigger money away from Wolves. Unless you’re Pablo Sarabia or Goncalo Guedes (£90,000 a week each)

United academy graduate shines again with wonder strike amid rumours of Old Trafford return – report

United academy graduate shines again with wonder strike amid rumours of Old Trafford return – report

Former Manchester United academy player Alvaro Fernandez Carreras has scored again amid rumours his former side may try and sign him this winter.

The Spaniard left Old Trafford permanently in the summer after failing to make a senior first team appearance.

The move was seen as a strange decision for United to take considering their glaring lack of left back options but they did insert a buy-back clause in the deal for a reported €20 million.

The Red Devils have been linked to a plethora of left back options but Nuno Mendes would cost €60 million and Milos Kerkez would also not come cheap, especially in January.

Therefore the former academy player could become a cost-effective, realistic option in the January window, especially if some money can be made from player sales as Casemiro seems to be inching towards a move to Saudi Arabia.

Carreras continued his highly impressive form with another goal in SL Benfica’s 3-0 victory over SC Braga in the Taça da Liga semi-final.

The youngster picked the ball up outside the box before shifting past a defender to arrow an expertly driven shot with his lethal left foot into the bottom corner of the goal to give his side a 2-0 lead after just 28 minutes of action.

Carreras was outstanding on the evening as he received a score of 8.2 for his night’s work.

As well as his goal, he completed all five of his long ball attempts and had a passing accuracy of 79%.

He was also a massive threat down the left hand side, completing four out of five of his dribble attempts.

The 21 year old was also a major contributor in defence, winning seven ground duels and making three tackles and two interceptions.

The sensational performance was just one in a long line of impressive showings in this campaign as he has played in 26 matches in all competitions, scoring three and providing two assists in a very productive season so far.

He has caught the attention of European giants such as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid and United may need to act fast if they want to secure the services of their former star as his reputation continues to rise in Portugal and across Europe.

Man Utd: Romano rules out Rashford to Serie A side as PSG star ‘very keen’ on Amorim reunion

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Serie A side Como is ‘not an option’ for Marcus Rashford as the transfer expert confirmed talks with three clubs, while a PSG star is reportedly keen on a proposed move to Manchester United.

Rashford wants out of Old Trafford having announced his desire for a “new challenge” last month, but options are thin on the ground thanks to his £300,000 per week wages and his lack of interest in a move to Saudi Arabia or Turkey.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed on Tuesday that Rashford is a ‘big priority’ for AC Milan, who have ‘proposed a loan with an option to buy’.

Di Marzio said: ‘Milan are aiming high and have identified Marcus Rashford as their big target for the winter transfer market.

‘In the last few hours, the Rossoneri club has put forward a concrete proposal for the English talent to its agents, trying to bring him to Milan with a formula that includes an initial loan, accompanied by a right of redemption.’

But Romano dismissed reports of interest from fellow Serie A side Como, managed by Cesc Fabregas, before listing the three clubs who have been in contact over a move for the England international.

Romano wrote on X: ‘Sources close to Marcus Rashford DENY all the reports and links with Serie A side Como.

‘NO talks taking place or planned… and NOT an option under consideration for Marcus/his camp.

‘Talks took place with AC Milan, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund… and more will follow.’

Romano said on Wednesday that the Rashford saga is about to ‘enter its important stages’, claiming it’s ‘deal on’ though the forward’s relationship with Man Utd is ‘not broken’.

In his column for GiveMeSport, Romano said: ‘The future of Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is about to enter its important stages.

‘It’s an open race as of now, but yes, movements have finally started with his brother/agent and his camp travelling around Europe to meet with clubs, explore possibilities and consider ideas ahead of the next weeks in order to decide what to do.

‘Let’s clarify first of all that there are still some chances for Rashford to stay and continue at Manchester United. The relationship is complicated, but not completely broken at this stage.

‘Ruben Amorim wants to see more from Marcus, that’s very clear. He’s not been happy with some training sessions in recent weeks and that is the main reason why he’s been left out of the squad several times, apart from at Anfield where he missed the game because he was ill. But the story remains open.

‘Meanwhile, Rashford is considering his options and his camp has started movements. While I’m writing this column, Marcus’ brother is in Italy, ready for face-to-face talks with AC Milan who are among the clubs keen on understanding the conditions of the deal.

‘We’re not at advanced stages or not even in concrete negotiations as of now, but AC Milan are looking for an offensive player to add to their roster and Rashford is high on their list.

‘The England international’s salary is also a key part of the story; Milan are not planning to cover the full salary but could be open to including a buy option clause in negotiations. For sure, talks will take place and we will see if Milan will be able to advance on both the player and club side with Man United.’

United boss Ruben Amorim is also desperate to bring players in this month, with wing-back a particular area in which he is keen to strengthen.

He’s supposedly set his sights on Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes, whose future in the French capital is in major doubt as he enters the final 18 months of his current deal.

Foot Mercato report that he is not satisfied with his salary and is ‘very keen’ on a reunion with former Sporting coach Amorim.

The Red Devils will have to sell before making a move for Mendes though, with PSG reportedly wanting around £50m for the Portugal international.

Familiar European giants enter the race for “the heart and soul” of United, shock exit on the cards – report

With Manchester United languishing in 13th position in the Premier League, Ruben Amorim needs all the help he can get in the January transfer window to help the club escape their current predicament.

However, a massive summer splurge coupled with the payoff and compensation payments to former boss Erik ten Hag and Sporting Lisbon respectively have meant the club have very little wriggle room in terms of PSR.

That is why INEOS are mulling over the potential sales of academy graduates like Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, previously thought as untouchables, as their sales would constitute pure profit.

While Chelsea are reportedly leading the race for the midfielder, the Argentine wonderkid has plenty of suitors with The Peoples Person naming Atletico Madrid as one of the interested parties.

              Garnacho could be sold

However, the Spanish giants do not have fond recollections of the way the 20-year-old had departed for Old Trafford while Diego Simeone seems stacked in terms of options of the left wing.

That could give Paris Saint-Germain the chance to strike with The Times naming the Ligue 1 side as yet another interested party. However, the Parisian club are yet to submit a concrete proposal.

“Atletico Madrid are aware of Garnacho’s availability but are reluctant to make a move for the winger, partly because they are not looking to strengthen on the left wing.

“But also because the Argentina international left the Spanish club under a cloud in 2020, when United signed him on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract.

“Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on Garnacho but have yet to make an offer for him.”

              PSG keeping tabs

The Argentina international has not started since the Nottingham Forest defeat with Amorim excluding him from the matchday squad ahead of the Manchester derby.

His application both on and off the pitch and his body language were questioned by the head coach with the youngster recently responding by deactivating his Twitter/X account and registering the assist for Amad Diallo’s equaliser against Liverpool last Sunday.

Selling such a gem so soon into his career would be the wrong signal to send from United’s point of view with legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson previously terming Garnacho and Mainoo as “the heart, and soul” of United.

INEOS are looking to fetch more than £50 million from a possible sale. It would be far more logical to get rid of Marcus Rashford, who has already revealed his desire to quit, but his humongous wages and asking price have meant not too many clubs can afford the out-of-form forward.

Serie A’s new big spenders plotting sensational hijack of Milan’s deal for Rashford, they’re prepared to cover his wages – Di Marzio

Cesc Fabregas’ Como have reportedly joined the race to land Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford this month.

Rashford is available for transfer in the ongoing winter transfer window after he admitted shortly before Christmas that he is ready for a new challenge, away from Old Trafford.

Given the high cost of a permanent sale, the player is mostly attracting loan interest from a number of teams across Europe.

Some of the clubs mentioned to be keen on signing him include Napoli, AC Milan, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham Hotspur and Galatasaray.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Rashford’s brother and agent was in Italy for exploratory talks with Milan executives over a potential half-season loan move. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Milan are keen on a loan with an option to buy.

Di Marzio has now given an update on Rashford’s situation, revealing that there is another surprise Serie A team eyeing a move for him – Como.

“Not just Milan: Como have also set their sights on Manchester United’s English striker Marcus Rashford. Surprisingly, Como has entered the race for Marcus Rashford.”

“Como would have no problem satisfying the 1997-born player from an economic point of view, also by virtue of the fact that Manchester United has not been open to contributing to the payment of part of his salary.”

“The Lombard club would also leverage the presence of Raphael Varane (now the club’s ambassador) with whom he played in England. These days Dele Alli, friends from his time in the English national team, is also training with Como.”

Di Marzio adds, “Como would have no difficulty in meeting the Englishman’s financial demands but would have one problem, the slot for non-EU players. Only one player between Marcus Rashford and Dele Alli could be registered.”

Como are currently in 16th position in Serie A and just a point above Lecce who are in the relegation zone. Lecce have played a game more.

Fabregas’ side made history last year when they secured promotion to Serie A after 21 years outside the top flight, during which time they went bankrupt twice.

They’ve enjoyed a fairytale revival over the past few years, backed by financial support from a host of former Premier League players including Fabregas himself and Thierry Henry. Dennis Wise served as chief executive but left the role in July.

Como have also received backing from Robert Budi Hartono and Michael Hartono. The two brothers own the Djarum Group and have a combined net worth of $50.3B according to Forbes. This could explain why Como are in a position to cover Rashford’s mega wages.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been banned from driving and slapped with a fine worth over £1,000 after he was caught speeding on two occasions in a span of just three days.

Maguire has been disqualified for 56 days after his Range Rover was clocked doing 85mph in a 50mph zone near Manchester Airport.

He was caught by a mobile speed camera on March 5 last year before being captured again two days later, as he was doing 68mph in a 60mph zone on the A616 near his home city of Sheffield.

The England international was not present at Bolton Magistrates’ Court but solicitor Gwyn Lewis appeared on his behalf.

Prosecutor Karen Allanson told the court that Maguire was the registered keeper of the car and admitted being the driver. Ms Allanson told the court that they couldn’t offer Maguire a fixed penalty “due to the high speed.”

The court heard that Maguire pleaded guilty in October. At the time of the offence, he had three penalty points on his licence, relating to an offence in March 2021.

The United star’s solicitor said [via The Sun], “He was offered a speed awareness course but unfortunately because he was away from this country in the summer he wasn’t able to take up the course.”

Maguire was fined £666 and ordered to pay £120 in costs as well as a £266 surcharge. It’s understood that he would have received a longer ban if the magistrates handed him six points for the Wilmslow Road offence.

Chairman of the bench Mark Hardman remarked, “We are prepared to exercise our discretion due to Mr Maguire being out of the country and not being able to take part in his speeding course.”

Maguire, who missed a very good chance to score a winner against Liverpool at the weekend, was due to be out of contract at United but the Red Devils confirmed they would trigger the option to extend his stay at Old Trafford by an additional 12 months.

The 31-year-old appears to be a key player under new boss Ruben Amorim, who has repeatedly declared his admiration for him.

Maguire and United are back in action on Sunday when they face Arsenal at the Emirates in the third round of the FA Cup.

La Liga club prepared to push ‘until the end’ to land €20m United forward this January – report

Manchester United are desperate to move players on this window so that INEOS can go out there and bring in reinforcements for Ruben Amorim with the club languishing in 13th position in the Premier League table.

However, it has been far from easy due to the asking prices involved and the huge salaries the underperforming players are on at United.

A prime example is Antony, who has started only twice under the new head coach, but none of those have come in the Premier League. And in both those starts, the €95 million signing has not lasted for more than 60 minutes.

The Brazilian has been tried as a No 10 and at wingback but it has been clear for sometime now that the former Ajax star is just not up to the standards required at Old Trafford as reflected from his market value which currently stands at €20 million.

Antony being eyed by multiple clubs

Off-field controversies have certainly not helped matters but INEOS are open to moving him on with The Peoples Person recently relaying that Real Betis were eyeing a loan deal.

Surprisingly, Olympiacos were also in the race but as relayed by Sport Witness, the 24-year-old winger prefers a move to Spain to regain his lost level and has therefore rejected an approach from the Greek giants.

The Andalusian club are prepared to push for this deal ‘until the end’ with Antony ‘awaiting news’ from the club and his agent about his future.

As part of the deal, the Red Devils will have to cover a portion of his humongous £200,000 per week wages. Currently, the highest earner at Betis is Isco, who earns €120,192 per week (all numbers via capology).

The Spanish club are trying to woo the United star by showing Manuel Pellegrini’s track record with improving the fortunes of former high-profile names such as Isco, Ayoze Perez and Giovani Lo Celso.

                    Real Betis leading the race

Interestingly, ABC Sevilla, who the outlet have quoted, have also suggested the possibility of a longer loan spell than the currently being worked upon formula of six months.

That long-term plan would include ‘the possibility of joint future benefit for the two entities in the event of the recovery of the value of the player’, the details of which are not mentioned.

It hints towards Betis possibly earning a share should United decide to sell the Brazil international after he has sparked back to life during his time at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.

Real Betis have been in touch with Antony’s agents for three weeks now, trying to seduce the player and and it will be interesting to see where Antony eventually ends up.

Milan “expected” to give United extremely disappointing news on Rashford, it’s not what they wanted to hear – report

AC Milan are reportedly adamant they will not cover anything above half of Marcus Rashford’s huge £325,000-a-week wages.

Rashford is looking increasingly likely to be on his way out of United after admitting last month that he is ready for a new challenge.

The Red Devils are believed to be prepared to listen to offers for him, with the forward attracting interest from both within England and abroad.

Some of the teams mentioned to be keen on landing Rashford, at least on an initial loan basis, include Juventus, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham Hotspur and Milan.

It’s understood that Rashford was presented with multiple lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League but he turned them all down in favour of continuing to ply his trade in a top European league.

It recently emerged that Rashford’s agent and brother Dwaine Maynard jetted to Milan to hold talks with the Rossoneri over a move to the San Siro. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that Sérgio Conceição’s side have proposed a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

David Ornstein revealed that United would want any suitor for Rashford to cover a large portion of his salary and now, The Times have given an update on Milan’s stance on this issue.

According to the newspaper, “AC Milan are expected to tell Manchester United that they will only pay half of Marcus Rashford’s wages during any potential loan spell.”

“Whether Rashford leaves before the transfer window closes depends on the parameters that United place on the deal. They are almost certain to demand a loan fee for the 27-year-old, who only two years ago scored 30 goals in a season.”

“Milan’s highest-paid player, Álvaro Morata, is thought to earn around £150,000 a week before tax.
If United lower their demands, their chances of loaning Rashford out will increase but the money they receive from the loan would decrease.”

The Times add that the only way United will be able to make signings this month is by selling some of the players in the squad.

Rashford has three years left on his terms at Old Trafford.
