Serie A’s new big spenders plotting sensational hijack of Milan’s deal for Rashford, they’re prepared to cover his wages – Di Marzio

Cesc Fabregas’ Como have reportedly joined the race to land Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford this month.

Rashford is available for transfer in the ongoing winter transfer window after he admitted shortly before Christmas that he is ready for a new challenge, away from Old Trafford.

Given the high cost of a permanent sale, the player is mostly attracting loan interest from a number of teams across Europe.

Some of the clubs mentioned to be keen on signing him include Napoli, AC Milan, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham Hotspur and Galatasaray.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Rashford’s brother and agent was in Italy for exploratory talks with Milan executives over a potential half-season loan move. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Milan are keen on a loan with an option to buy.

Di Marzio has now given an update on Rashford’s situation, revealing that there is another surprise Serie A team eyeing a move for him – Como.

“Not just Milan: Como have also set their sights on Manchester United’s English striker Marcus Rashford. Surprisingly, Como has entered the race for Marcus Rashford.”

“Como would have no problem satisfying the 1997-born player from an economic point of view, also by virtue of the fact that Manchester United has not been open to contributing to the payment of part of his salary.”

“The Lombard club would also leverage the presence of Raphael Varane (now the club’s ambassador) with whom he played in England. These days Dele Alli, friends from his time in the English national team, is also training with Como.”

Di Marzio adds, “Como would have no difficulty in meeting the Englishman’s financial demands but would have one problem, the slot for non-EU players. Only one player between Marcus Rashford and Dele Alli could be registered.”

Como are currently in 16th position in Serie A and just a point above Lecce who are in the relegation zone. Lecce have played a game more.

Fabregas’ side made history last year when they secured promotion to Serie A after 21 years outside the top flight, during which time they went bankrupt twice.

They’ve enjoyed a fairytale revival over the past few years, backed by financial support from a host of former Premier League players including Fabregas himself and Thierry Henry. Dennis Wise served as chief executive but left the role in July.

Como have also received backing from Robert Budi Hartono and Michael Hartono. The two brothers own the Djarum Group and have a combined net worth of $50.3B according to Forbes. This could explain why Como are in a position to cover Rashford’s mega wages.
