Manchester United star Mason Mount believes Ruben Amorim has unearthed a new tactical ploy that will come in handy.
The Red Devils bounced back from two straight defeats to Manchester City and Brentford to beat Sunderland by two unanswered goals last Saturday.
While the Black Cats might not be the most powerful team in the division, Man Utd showcased some promising signs in their convincing display, as they managed to dominate the action for the bulk of the game.

While Mount and Benjamin Sesko were the authors of the two goals, Senne Lammens stole the headlines on his Old Trafford bow. The Belgian managed to keep a clean sheet, much to the delight of the United supporters who playfully compared him to club legend Peter Schmeichel.
The 23-year-old looked solid, confident, and alert when dealing with the danger, displaying the sort of attributes that Man Utd goalkeepers have been lacking over the past two years or so.
Nevertheless, Lammens didn’t only perform a formidable job in protecting his goal, but also helped relieve the pressure off his teammates, as Mount explained after the game against Sunderland.
As the attacking midfielder explained, the custodian helped the team escape the opposition pressure with his route-one clearance, while Sesko did a formidable job by bringing the ball down on the other end of the pitch.
“Senne is coming in as well. It was a solid performance,” said Mount in his post-match interview via the Manchester Evening News.
“Any danger of them pressing, he puts it into Ben (Sesko) and we work off that. I think he kind of released the pressure a lot today.”

While this might sound like the oldest tactical trick in the book, it certainly paid dividends for Man Utd. After all, the backline has been struggling to play the ball from the back.
