If Manchester United were ever keen on Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis, they had better act now. United have a desire to sign a left winger this summer, and as they look to address that transfer need, few options are more compelling than Tzolis. The Greek international has been absolutely fantastic for the Belgian heavyweights; 22 goals and 29 assists in 52 games speak for themselves. His lethal combination of blistering pace, elite dribbling, and prolific goal-scoring has earned him the nickname “the next Eden Hazard“. The thought of signing the next Hazard alone should be enough to motivate any ambitious club into enthusiastic pursuit. While Old Trafford faithful were hoping that the club would be the great Man United, it has now emerged that is not the case. Arsenal pressing hard for Christos Tzolis United do hold an interest, but as per David Ornstein, it is Arsenal who are currently doing their utmost to get a deal done. The Premier League’s most trusted transfer source, via The Athletic, reports: “Arsenal are exploring a deal to sign winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge. Sources believe a deal for the 24-year-old could be possible for around €40million (£34.5m, $46.3m).” Worth a transfer hijack Surely United cannot simply stand by and watch the Gunners beat them to the signature of a winger as deadly as Tzolis and at such a bargain fee. Furthermore, Tzolis himself has already indicated that United could persuade him to sign should they make a move. With Arsenal now pressing hard, it is time for United to act if they truly are as ambitious as they are made out to be. The quoted fee is hardly exorbitant, making a transfer hijack well worth considering. A successful hijack could see United finally land a natural left winger, ultimately replacing the departed Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho and filling the void left by Alejandro Garnacho. Arsenal reach final verdict on whether to sell Swiss Army Knife to United, sparing Ineos transfer saga – report

Other than the midfield, Manchester United are tipped to bolster their left-back position this summer. Luke Shaw defied all odds last season to feature in every one of United’s league games. While the hope is that he continues being Mr Available, Shaw’s quality has never been the issue; his availability is. You simply cannot gamble on his ever-presence. Given the Premier League’s demands and the intensity of the Champions League, it would be wise to find Shaw an ideal deputy. Patrick Dorgu should have been that man, but he is now seen as more of a left winger following his impactful performances there. Shifting Dorgu’s role, therefore, leaves a gap to be filled. Some fantastic left-backs have been linked, Lewis Hall, Nathaniel Brown, and Myles Lewis-Skelly, among them. Yet, according to the latest reports, it is becoming increasingly clear which of these targets United will not sign. Myles Lewis-Skelly transfer verdict Nathaniel Brown is set to join Bayern Munich, ruling him out of the equation. And now, Manchester Evening News (MEN) are claiming that Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly may not be heading to Old Trafford either. A few months ago, when he was not featuring regularly, reports emerged that Lewis-Skelly’s intermediaries had offered him to United. It was subsequently suggested that Ineos were considering a summer swoop, with the Gunners tipped to cash in. However, towards the end of the season, Lewis-Skelly began getting his chances and ended up playing a key role in midfield during Arsenal’s final fixtures. That run changed everything, as MEN now confirm: “Myles Lewis-Skelly was also of interest, but his situation has changed after his emergence in midfield for Arsenal at the end of the season.” Lewis-Skelly’s versatility could have come in handy As a midfielder-cum-left-back, Lewis-Skelly could have helped United solve two problems, midfield and defence, with one signing. But that move now looks almost certainly dead in the water. Fortunately for the 20-time English champions, there have been promising developments in their pursuit of Hall. The Newcastle United star is open to joining United and is pushing to leave St James’ Park, having felt that Eddie Howe’s decision to overlook him in the final months of last season cost him a spot in England’s World Cup squad. People forget Luke Shaw: Kyle Walker explains why United ace should have made World Cup squad

Luke Shaw enjoyed a brilliant resurgence with Manchester United this season, but it was not enough to earn him a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s FIFA World Cup squad. The English full-back started all 38 league games this season, becoming only the fifth Red Devils player to achieve the feat in the Premier League era. Shaw finished the campaign with one goal and one assist, and he appears to have put his injury troubles behind him. Luke Shaw Stats: 2025/26 Season CompetitionAppearancesGoalsAssistsYellow CardsRed CardsMinutes Played Premier League38119-3,233′ Total38119-3,233′ Source: Transfermarkt. For context, the 30 year old registered just 27 appearances for the Premier League giants in the past two campaigns, during which he struggled with various fitness issues. However, Shaw did not miss a single game in the 2025/26 season due to injuries, which was certainly an impressive achievement. The Englishman also flourished in a back three under former head coach Ruben Amorim, while also impressing in his natural left-back role after Michael Carrick’s arrival. His performances ignited talk of a possible call-up to the national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but it was not to be. Former Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker, however, believes it was the wrong decision from Tuchel. Shaw could have been useful for Tuchel Speaking to talkSPORT, Walker revealed that Tuchel’s decision to select Newcastle United defender Dan Burn ahead of Harry Maguire surprised him. He said: “That one shocked me [Dan Burn] especially over Harry Maguire.” The former Manchester City man also explained why Shaw could have been a fantastic addition to Tuchel’s squad, adding: “I think people forget Luke Shaw. Luke Shaw’s had a fantastic year for Manchester United.” “To be in the tournaments that Luke Shaw has been in as well. And okay, probably he’s not got the legs of Djed Spence or Livramento, but his experience and you could probably sit him next to the centre halves and let Reece James go a little bit higher.” Tuchel also snubbed Harry Maguire, despite the defender’s impressive form since the turn of the year for the Red Devils, prompting a strong response from Maguire. The German manager has since explained his decision. How many World Cups has Luke Shaw been to? Shaw’s first tryst with the World Cup was in 2014, when he featured in then manager Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad. He earned his debut in the 0-0 group-stage draw against Costa Rica, thereby becoming the youngest player to feature in that year’s tournament. Shaw’s injury troubles saw him miss out on a place in England’s squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. However, he was back with the Three Lions for the global spectacle in Qatar four years later. Shaw started all five games under Gareth Southgate at the 2022 FIFA World Cup before England suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of France in the quarter-finals. As things stand, that game remains the United ace’s last appearance at the global event. Shaw also started the Euro 2020 final, which the Three Lions lost on penalties to Italy. The English left-back found the back of the net in the second minute of the game, setting the record for the fastest goal in a European Championship final. He also started the Euro 2024 final, which England lost 2-1 to Spain. Final Thoughts While Shaw will be disheartened by missing out on a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, there is a silver lining to the situation. The Englishman can be involved in pre-season with United, which could be of immense help ahead of a busy 2026/27 campaign. Manchester United’s pursuit of Hoffenheim starlet Bazoumana Toure is under threat from bitter rivals Liverpool. The Red Devils are preparing for a blockbuster summer transfer window, during which they are expected to invest heavily in midfield. However, INEOS are also looking to add a left-forward to Michael Carrick’s squad, and a recent report relayed by The Peoples Person states that they have set their sights on Toure. The 20 year old is a natural left-footed left winger who is blessed with blistering pace, a profile that United lack in their squad at present. Toure joined the Bundesliga club from Hammarby in January 2025 and has since become a first-team regular. Last season, the Ivorian registered five goals and 12 assists in 30 Bundesliga games, all but one of which were starts. Branded “The Hurricane” for his tremendous acceleration, Toure’s spectacular rise in Germany has not escaped the attention of the Old Trafford hierarchy. However, it now appears that they will have to step up their efforts if they wish to win this race. Liverpool leading United in Toure race According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool have moved ahead of United in the race for Toure. The report states: “Bazoumana Toure has become one of the most wanted players in the European transfer market, with Liverpool leading Manchester United in a packed race for the 20-year-old Ivorian winger, TEAMtalk understands.” “Liverpool have taken the most decisive action by formally registering their interest and notifying Hoffenheim, TEAMtalk sources confirm.” The report, though, insists that United remain firmly in the race, adding: “Man Utd are also firmly in the race, with sources indicating they see Toure as a high-upside addition capable of injecting dynamism into their forward line.” However, the Premier League duo are not the player’s only suitors, and there could be a scramble for his signature this summer. Six Premier League clubs want Toure The report goes on to point out that there are four other English clubs also in the race, adding: “The north-west rivals face competition from Aston Villa and Newcastle United, both described as ‘very interested’ by sources and actively monitoring developments. Brighton have been linked as well, while Brentford continue to show keen interest.” Bayern Munich and Arsenal have also previously been linked with the player, although they are yet to follow up on their initial interest. It was previously reported that the German club are willing to let Toure leave for €30-40 million after missing out on the Champions League. TEAMtalk, however, state that Hoffenheim are holding out for a club-record fee, in the range of €40-50 million, to let their prized asset leave. The youngster is under contract at the SNP Arena until 2029 and he does not have a release clause in his deal. Final Thoughts Toure fits the profile of young, exciting footballers with a high ceiling that INEOS have been targeting of late. The Ivorian’s price tag also makes him an affordable option for United, who cannot afford to allow Liverpool to win this race. Former Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has been ruled out of a stunning return to club football. United career Rangnick, somewhat surprisingly, replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager of the club in December 2021. The club had a terrible end to the season, winning only 38% of the matches they played under Rangnick. The original plan was for the German to stay at the club as an advisor, but after Erik ten Hag was appointed as manager, this plan was scrapped. Post-United career Despite the failings of his time at Old Trafford, Rangnick has found success in international football as the head coach of Austria. He has won an impressive 61% of his matches in charge and reached the last 16 of Euro 2024. The Austrians are also about to take part in this summer’s World Cup, with their first match scheduled against Jordan on Wednesday, 17th June. AC Milan rumours Rangnick was linked to the vacant Bayern Munich role in 2024 but did not end up joining the club. Borussia Dortmund were also said to be keen on his services last year, but he once again did not end up as manager. There have also been reports that he could be making a sensational move to Italian giants AC Milan, but as technical director, not a coach. Nonetheless, this now seems to be off. Journalist Matteo Moretto has posted on X, “Ralf Rangnick will not go to Milan.” He added, “the Rossoneri club does not agree to the conditions of the German executive, and the negotiations break off. Rangnick was awaiting a definitive response by the end of the day today.” “As reported, the Austrian Federation did everything possible to renew his contract.” Ralf Rangnick non andrà al Milan. Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has experienced a rollercoaster of a season. Out in the cold Mainoo began the season by requesting a loan move away from the club due to Ruben Amorim’s refusal to start him. The Portuguese head coach clearly had little faith in Mainoo, as he rarely gave him opportunities to shine. Consequently, Napoli became extremely interested in securing a deal for the young midfielder. Michael Carrick factor At the start of January, Ruben Amorim was sacked by the club and interim manager Darren Fletcher immediately reinstated Mainoo to the starting eleven. Michael Carrick also kept Mainoo in the team, and the Englishman repaid his faith with a series of outstanding performances, capped by a winning goal against Liverpool at Old Trafford. Mainoo’s form has also seen him welcomed back into England’s World Cup squad, and he is currently in the United States ahead of the Three Lions’ first match against Croatia. Skills Speaking to the club’s official website, Mainoo discussed how he worked on his skills as a young boy. Commenting on his love of emulating skills, he said, “obviously watching United, I’d say Rooney [caught my attention early on], and then I used to watch YouTube a lot, skills and stuff, it was always Ronaldinho, [Cristiano] Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, people like that.” Mainoo added, “that’s always what I found myself doing in my spare time, searching skills videos, waiting for new ones to come out and just follow all the players from there.” The young midfielder then explained that he would try to put the new skills he saw into practice. He went on, “I’d watch these things on YouTube and then there was a field right next to my house, so then say if I watched them the night before… I’d get my boots and my kit ready, lay it out at the foot of my bed. Then, as soon as I woke up, jump out of bed and go to the field and practice. Try and drag someone with me, anyone – [as] a mannequin, my dad, my sister, anyone!” Mainoo also asserted that this routine “definitely helped me a lot” in his development as a young player before turning professional. Manchester United are keen to strengthen their midfield this summer following the departure of Casemiro on a free transfer. Midfield targets The Red Devils have already agreed a deal with Atalanta for Brazilian Ederson, and he will complete his move after his involvement at the World Cup. United have been linked with a plethora of midfielders, but that list appears to be narrowing lately. One player around whom the rumours continue to swirl is West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes. Mateus Fernandes The 21-year-old has been regularly linked with a move to Old Trafford and appears to be the player United are now most concretely focused on after walking away from a deal for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson. The Portugal international has been linked with numerous top clubs such as Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal. There have been encouraging reports from a United perspective, suggesting that Fernandes would give priority to Michael Carrick’s side should they be able to agree a deal with West Ham, who are currently asking for at least £80 million for the player in spite of their relegation from the Premier League. The Times also reiterates this stance, stating that the Red Devils are in the lead for the player and look set to beat Premier League champions Arsenal to the signing. Advantage United The article states that “Manchester United are set to beat Arsenal in the race for Mateus Fernandes.” The report adds that, “the West Ham United midfielder, who is also wanted by the new Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, is increasingly likely to make the move to Old Trafford.” This has emboldened the Red Devils, who are now said to be “increasingly confident” of landing the young star. Fabrizio Romano has already stated that United are in official negotiations with the player’s agent Jorge Mendes, as well as West Ham, to understand a realistic price for the midfield talent. Despite Arsenal’s apparent admittance of defeat, Michael Carrick’s side will still need to fend off European champions Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid if they are to seal the deal. Manchester United continue to pursue Premier League-proven stars, but could be forced to pay over the odds for their services. United have already withdrawn from a potential move for Elliot Anderson after Nottingham Forest demanded a British record fee for the midfielder. Mateus Fernandes has now emerged as the priority midfield target, but West Ham United are asking for more than £80 million for the 21-year-old talent. United face similar obstacles in their efforts to strengthen their backline. Manchester United continue to chase Jarrad Branthwaite According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are closely monitoring Everton central defender Jarrad Branthwaite. The left-footed 6ft 5in defender has been on United’s radar ever since he broke through at Everton. Branthwaite even agreed personal terms to move to Old Trafford, but the Toffees rejected two bids from United in the summer of 2024. Branthwaite has struggled with injuries since then, but his versatility, one-v-one defending, imposing presence and ball progression have kept him on the radar of clubs such as United. It is believed that Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also interested in the England international. However, it is understood Everton would demand in excess of £70m for the 25-year-old defensive powerhouse. Manchester United also want Iliman Ndiaye United are also looking to improve their options on the left flank and are thought to be interested in Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye. The 26-year-old attacker possesses exceptional dribbling ability. The Red Devils face competition from Arsenal and City for his services. Needless to say, Everton are reluctant to part ways with Ndiaye as well. However, the Senegal international has yet to agree a new contract. Ndiaye has turned down offers of new terms and is believed to be keen on playing at a higher level. He moved to Merseyside from Marseille in 2024.
