United poised to land lethal hitman with Championship club powerless to stop INEOS – report

Manchester United are set to sign Derby County wonderkid Blake Henry, according to a new report. Striking Starlet Despite only turning 14 in November, Henry is already attracting attention from the Premier League’s elite thanks to his incredible goalscoring record last season. The Manchester Evening News reveals the red-hot striker plundered 45 goals across all competitions to mark himself as “one of the hottest attacking prospects in the country.” In Derby’s 142-year history, Henry became the second youngster player to be offered a scholarship at 13, while he has already signed a sponsorship deal with Adidas. Over the winter period, the England under-15 international made his debut for Derby in the U18 Premier League, becoming one of the youngest players to do so. The Midlands club worked “incredibly hard” to tie him down to a new contract over the past 18 months, but he is expected to leave Park Park this summer. Despite Manchester City vying for his signature, local outlet Derby Telegraph reveals he is “set to join Manchester United”. Derby will be entitled to “significant compensation” should Henry arrive at Old Trafford, though the exact figure will be determined by his “age, how long he spent at the academy, the category of the club signing him plus development and training costs.” If the two clubs cannot reach an agreement, the case will “go to a Professional Football Compensation Committee tribunal which will determine the outcome,” the report concludes. Focusing on Youth United have demonstrated a renewed focus on securing the best youngsters since INEOS took charge in 2024 – an approach which had been lost in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era. The captures of Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi from Arsenal highlight a ruthlessness from the Old Trafford hierarchy, while the signings of talents like Sekou Kone from Mali and Diego Leon from Paraguay underscore how global their view is. Talks are underway to bring David Eze to the red half of Manchester, with the 16-year-old midfielder considered one of the premier prospects in Man City’s academy. Similarly, a deal has just been struck to add Liverpool’s highly-rated winger Vincent Joseph, while Isaac Konde is another target in the crosshairs on Merseyside. While a raid on Derby does not quite stoke the fires in the same way as one on Anfield or the Etihad, Henry is one of the most exciting talents at any age group in the country. United close in on 100m playmaker as PL rival’s hijack attempt fails, talks underway to strike deal – report

Manchester United’s departing superstar Casemiro once described the midfield as the “heartbeat” of a football team – with virtually every one of England’s elite on the hunt for a transplant this summer. The Red Devils have already struck a £39 million deal for Atalanta and Brazil international Ederson, though official completion will not come until his World Cup campaign concludes. But talks are ongoing to make Mateus Fernandes the second signing of the Michael Carrick era, with Manchester United having identified the West Ham United starlet as their leading target after Elliot Anderson communicated his wish to join Manchester City instead. Red-hot race in the Premier League The 21-year-old Portuguese maestro, capable of playing across a variety of roles in midfield, is understood to be prioritising a move to Old Trafford, even if the Hammers have placed a prohibitive asking price as high as £100m on his head. However, Arsenal and Liverpool were also admirers of the Sporting CP academy graduate, while Tottenham Hotspur have now stormed into the race as well, further strengthening West Ham United’s negotiating position, despite Nuno Espirito Santo’s side having suffered relegation. Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing Fernandes at the request of Roberto De Zerbi, with the Lilywhites prepared to go all out to back their new manager. A separate raid has been launched for Newcastle United dynamo Sandro Tonali – another target at Old Trafford – with David Ornstein revealing talks have been held with the 26-year-old’s camp. Manchester United had identified Tonali as an option in the build-up to the window, with Carrick said to be an admirer of the Italy international. However, Newcastle slapped down a £100m valuation to fend off interest, which led the Red Devils to cool their interest. Arsenal and Manchester City are both in the hunt for the Brescia native, where De Zerbi also hails from. It remains a distinct possibility the Citizens sign both Anderson and Tonali if Rodri departs for Real Madrid, which would then potentially increase Manchester United’s chances of pulling off a blockbuster deal for Aurelien Tchouameni, though Liverpool are also in contact with the French superstar. The only member of the Premier League’s top six not mentioned so far is Chelsea. But the Blues are braced for interest from Real Madrid in their own midfield maestro, Enzo Fernandez. The 2022 World Cup winner, currently on duty in North America with Argentina, has previously admitted the Santiago Bernabeu attracts him, with Los Blancos considering him as part of a major revamp of Jose Mourinho’s squad. Were Chelsea to lose Fernandez, they would aggressively enter the already fiercely competitive midfield market and players like Fernandes and Tonali would gain yet another suitor. However, the west London club have stronger pre-existing links to Crystal Palace maestro Adam Wharton – yet another option on INEOS’s radar. Spurs zero in on Wharton Manchester United have been tracking Wharton since he arrived at Selhurst Park from Blackburn Rovers in 2024. Under the tutelage of the departing Oliver Glasner, the 22-year-old has grown into one of England’s best ball-playing midfielders, helping propel the Eagles to triumphs in the FA Cup and Europa Conference League. Possessing a wand of a left foot and incisive line-breaking vision, Wharton resembles a playmaker born in Barcelona rather than Blackburn. His teammate, Yeremy Pino, believes he could play for the Spain national team such is his technical quality. Wharton is highly rated at Old Trafford, featuring highly on the list of targets in midfield. However, there is a sense he is not an ideal partner for Kobbie Mainoo, with the two players sharing many qualities – and some of the same weaknesses. This led Manchester United to prioritise other targets with more physicality and versatility, such as Fernandes and Ederson, over the Palace talisman. Chelsea and Liverpool are understood to be big fans as well, with the Reds having held talks in recent weeks. TEAMtalk now reveals Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make a “serious push” for Wharton as there is internal recognition in North London that deals for either Fernandes or Tonali will prove “difficult to conclude at this stage.” “As a result, Wharton is increasingly emerging as one of Tottenham’s most realistic high-profile targets. Sources have told us that De Zerbi is a huge admirer of the 21-year-old and…there is confidence that a move for Wharton represents a deal the club has a genuine chance of completing, provided Palace are willing to engage.” The report states Manchester United have “maintained a long-standing appreciation” and are continuing to “monitor his situation closely.” Final Thoughts While Tottenham’s ramping up their pursuit of Wharton may rule out an option held in high regard by United, it also provides tacit acceptance that prising Fernandes from West Ham’s grasp is unfeasible as the Red Devils have the firmest hand on a deal for the Portuguese. Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are both understood to have held initial talks with Fernandes’ camp, though sources at Old Trafford indicate there is belief this is being inflated by his agent, Jorge Mendes, and there remains confidence a deal can be struck for a talent who shone last season despite being constrained by a struggling side. United handed brutal fixture run after Champions League matches, it will make or break Carrick’s season

United handed brutal fixture run after Champions League matches, it will make or break Carrick’s season

Manchester United learned their fixture fate for the 2026/27 season this morning, with the Premier League releasing the schedule for the upcoming campaign. Michael Carrick’s men kick off with a trip to newly promoted Hull City, before entertaining another promoted side, Ipswich Town, in the first game at Old Trafford. This bodes well for a good start to life as permanent head coach for Carrick, who will have to deal with a bumper schedule this year after guiding United to an impressive third-place finish last season. Champions League issues Qualifying for the Champions League was a fine achievement for a United side that had finished in 15th place the previous season, and it gives the players a chance to perform on the biggest stage for the first time since 2023. However, with Europe comes the trials and tribulations of extra fixtures and travel across the continent, which could impact league form, with injuries and fatigue playing a huge role in the hustle and bustle of English football. With all that in mind, here are the fixtures United must navigate after their European exploits, with the opposition due to be announced after the qualifying rounds have taken place. Champions League Matchday 1 – Manchester City (H) Champions League Matchday 2 – Leeds United (A) Champions League Matchday 3 – Bournemouth (H) Champions League Matchday 4 – Aston Villa (H) Champions League Matchday 5 – Brentford (H) Champions League Matchday 6 – Crystal Palace (A) Champions League Matchday 7 – Liverpool (H) Champions League Matchday 8 – Brentford (A) With Brentford missing out on European football of their own by a three-goal swing last season, they will have the full week to prepare for the double-header with United, with old rivals Leeds also in that boat. The others, however, will all be facing European tests of their own before facing Carrick’s men, which evens the playing field in terms of preparation time. United will expect to get through the league phase and head into the knockouts for the first time since Ralf Rangnick oversaw the elimination to Atlético Madrid in 2022. Potential bumper knockout schedule A strong European league campaign is vital to ensure United skip the knockout phase play-offs that would give them an extra two-legged tie should they finish outside the top eight in the initial stage. If United do have to play the knockout phase, they will face fixtures before a trip to Nottingham Forest after the first leg, with the second leg before welcoming Premier League champions Arsenal to Old Trafford – the knockout phase is scheduled for 16/17 (leg 1) & 23/24 (leg 2) February 2027. However, the hope will be that United skip straight through to the Round of 16, which is set to take place on 9/10 (leg 1) & 16/17 (leg 2) March 2027. The following fixtures after those games are Everton (H) and Manchester City (A), respectively. Hull City (H) and Ipswich Town (A) follow the respective legs of the quarter-finals, which are scheduled for 6/7 (leg 1) & 13/14 (leg 2), April 2027. United would be in dreamland if they find themselves having to rest and rotate for the semi-finals, which are being played on 27/28 (leg 1) April & 4/5 (leg 2), May 2027. Should Carrick’s side get there, they will face a couple of away trips after the crunch semis against Coventry and Bournemouth, respectively. The holy grail of the final will take place in Madrid on 5 June, bringing the curtain down on a season that would be one to etch in the history books if United are one of the sides making their way to the Spanish capital. United will be desperate to go as deep in the competition as they can but will need to strike the balance between European success and keeping up domestically, something they failed to do when reaching their last European final. Ruben Amorim guided United to the Europa League final in 2025 but at the cost of a record-low Premier League finish, which was compounded by the failure to beat a poor Tottenham Hotspur side in Bilbao. However, Carrick has navigated the ultimate test of endurance before, winning both the Premier League and Champions League as a player in 2008, and will no doubt be relishing the chance to repeat that extraordinary feat in his new role. The fact that he has the easiest start to the campaign out of any other manager should help in this endeavour. United surge ahead of Arsenal in race for one of worlds best midfielders, Wilcox pushing hard to seal 87m deal – report

Manchester United are facing new rivals in the race to sign Real Madrid superstar Aurelien Tchouameni as hopes grow of a blockbuster exit from the Santiago Bernabeu, according to a new report. “Dream Target” The Red Devils are prioritising a major revamp in midfield this summer, with Casemiro having already departed and Manuel Ugarte, 25, being pushed towards the exit door, having failed his audition as a successor to the 34-year-old Brazilian. A £39 million deal has already been agreed for Ederson, Atalanta’s 26-year-old all-action dynamo, while talks are underway to make West Ham starlet Mateus Fernandes the second addition in the engine room. But the ‘marquee’ signing to replace Casemiro remains unfilled, with both options best deployed in box-to-box roles rather than as a holding midfielder. Elliot Anderson has long been the club’s first choice for this position, but the Nottingham Forest talisman is on the verge of arriving in the blue half of Manchester. However, Fabrizio Romano has stated Tchouameni is the “dream target” for the Red Devils, with recruitment director Christopher Vivell understood to be pushing hard for the France international. Tchouameni’s contract with Real runs until 2028, and there is a willingness on both sides to extend. But the arrival of Jose Mourinho at the behest of Florentino Perez, fresh from winning re-election as president, has thrown the Spanish giant into a state of flux, with an aggressive transfer policy already underway. If Los Blancos want to generate funds to pursue a midfield maestro like Manchester City’s Rodri or Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez, Tchouameni could be sacrificed as Mourinho does not consider him “untouchable” in the way he does with teammates Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham. Eyed by England’s Elite TEAMtalk reveals sources at Old Trafford believe there is a “genuine chance the 26-year-old could leave Madrid this summer”. Lines of communication between United’s hierarchy, spearheaded by Jason Wilcox, and the player’s camp have remained “open throughout the summer.” “The Old Trafford hierarchy have also monitored the Frenchman for several years and regard him as one of the elite midfielders in world football. Sources suggest United see him as a player who could transform the balance and quality of their midfield unit.” However, the report also states this belief is shared at Anfield, with Liverpool in constant dialogue with Tchouameni as well. The bitter enemies are considered the two “most likely destinations should he decide to move to England.” Interestingly, both Arsenal and Chelsea are said to be monitoring the situation, though neither London club is as well positioned as their north-west rivals. Xabi Alonso has taken charge at Stamford Bridge six months after his dismissal as Real manager, where Tchouameni was ever-present under the Spanish tactician. TEAMtalk claims Tchouameni has “now been made aware that his place in Mourinho’s plans is no longer guaranteed”, with internal recognition at the Bernabeu that he is “one of the most valuable assets” the ‘Special One’ is content to part ways with. Real would demand a fee in the region of €100m (£87m) to sanction a sale, which would be a huge outlay, but still cheaper than the prices being quoted for targets like Anderson or Sandro Tonali. Final Thoughts While both Ederson and Mateus Fernandes are talented midfielders with the flexibility to play across a variety of roles and systems, neither offers the profile needed to fill the hole Casemiro’s exit has created. Tchouameni, signed by Real from AS Monaco in the same summer the Brazilian moved to Manchester, has already done exactly that under the bright lights of the most pressurised environment in world football. The Frenchman is exactly what the doctor ordered at the Theatre of Dreams to cure the midfield problems; INEOS must move aggressively to fend off their rivals and secure the antidote. “I’m not gonna lie, he’s not a full-back”: legendary United defender delivers brutal verdict on current star’s future

Patrick Dorgu is a “raw” talent who is “definitely here to stay”, according to Manchester United legend Wes Brown. Brown, one of the club’s best ever centre-backs and full-backs, was speaking to The Peoples Person in an exclusive interview hosted by BetGoodwin. Dorgu was bought by United as a wing-back to play in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, but under Michael Carrick’s 4-2-3-1, there is not an obvious place for him in the side. We asked Brown what he thinks the 21-year-old’s future role will be. “Not a full-back” “That’s a tough one for me because I’m not gonna lie, he’s not a fullback,” the treble winner stated. “He brings out the best of himself when he’s in an attacking area on that left-hand side, whether it’s a wing or coming inside.” “He’s just got raw ability. And obviously we know — I didn’t know this for a long time – but he can shoot and he can shoot very well.” “So lots of potential. I think definitely a player that Michael can use going forward. So much energy. He’s probably got the best energy up there with Bruno in the squad, actually. Quick, physically strong, and like I just said, he can score goals as well. So it’s, it’s going to be interesting, but he’s definitely here to stay.” Dorgu’s best role “Michael’s obviously got to try and find that best position, but I think it’s a little bit more forward,” Brown said. “Not necessarily where Cunha plays on the wing, but probably a touch more inside where he can cause a lot of havoc. But obviously then you would change the way we play a little bit, but then that could be another option.” Is it worth changing the formation to accommodate him? “Well, I think when he plays and in certain situations you can,” the former England man said. “I’m not saying he can’t play on the wing, he just looks more effective when he gets the ball and he drives inside, he’s playing one-twos, he’s got the ability, he’s got the speed to get on the end of things.” “At some point he will be on the wing and he sees he can get past the player because he’s quick enough, he can get across it. But if you do that, you stifle his abilities around the box and scoring and hitting really long shots.” “We’ll have to see more of him next year, but I’m glad we’ve got him and when he came back from injury,he really showed everybody what he can do – because I don’t think everybody knew that.” Sadly, Dorgu’s Denmark did not qualify for the World Cup, so he is not in action in North America. That could be a blessing in disguise for United, though, who will go into the 2026/27 season with a fresh player ready to really make his mark on the Premier League stage.
