Man Utd ‘offer less than £33m’ for Sporting star as ‘truth’ about Amorim promise emerges

    man-utd-‘offer-less-than-33m’-for-sporting-star-as-‘truth’-about-amorim-promise-emerges

Man Utd have made an offer for Sporting Lisbon youngster Geovany Quenda ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Red Devils sacked Erik ten Hag at the end of last month after a terrible run of form spelled the end of the road for the former Ajax boss.

Man Utd moved quickly to hire Sporting Lisbon boss Amorim with the Red Devils announcing in a statement that the Portuguese coach would join on November 11.

Amorim took charge of his final Sporting match on Sunday with the Portuguese top-flight leaders beating Braga 4-2 to extend their lead at the top of the table to six points.

And with Amorim arriving in Manchester on Monday, the Portuguese coach can now get to work on deciding his formation and tactics, meet the players and start forward planning.

There have already been lots of rumours about who Amorim could ask Man Utd to sign in the next couple of transfer windows as he looks for support in the market.

Viktor Gyokeres has been the most heavily linked Sporting player – but a more realistic addition would be teenage winger Quenda, who made his first Liga Portugal appearance in August and scored his first league goal at the end of October against FC Famalicao.

And now Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim that Man Utd have made ‘an initial offer of less than 40 million (£33m)’ for Quenda but that ‘it remains to be seen how much they will have to raise to convince the Sporting management’.

Sporting recently increased Quenda’s release clause from €45m to €100m after ‘they anticipated the arrival of millionaire clubs, especially from the Premier League’.

Speaking before leaving for Man Utd, former Sporting boss Amorim promised: “I won’t [look for players from Sporting ] in the January transfer window , that’s what I said.”

But ‘the truth is that the Premier League club’s desire [in Quenda] predates the hiring of the 39-year-old Portuguese coach and the first inquiries came even before the change of coach’.

The report adds: ‘The idea is to secure Quenda now , who will continue to play for the Lions until the end of the season and move to the north of England in the summer.’

Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit is “not totally convinced” that Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford are good enough to impress under Amorim.

When asked if Amorim can handle the pressure at Man Utd, Petit told Instant Casino: “Mourinho was the same, remember, when he left Portugal. The same questions were asked about him. Can he do it in the Premier League? He won many trophies. He was one of the best managers for at least a decade.

“I won’t say that Amorim will change Manchester United’s fortunes straight away. With what’s happening at Manchester United, it will take time, but I have the feeling that he can change a few things this season and start to build towards success.

“For me, the quality of players at Manchester United in some positions is not good enough. Starting from the midfield, I think they need to add quality players and wingers as well.

“I’m sorry, but I’m not totally convinced about Garnacho, about Amad, Rashford. He’s got a lot of work to do.

“He can change a few things, starting with the tactics, which will bring more confidence back to the team.

“I think he can also give the Manchester United fans something that they have been waiting ages for: attacking football. He can get them to play the way they used to with attacking players that come at the opponent like waves. That’s exactly how he plays with Sporting.

“If you look at Sporting playing, they are very enjoyable to watch. He needs to bring back the joy at Manchester United. He needs to bring back the joy on the pitch, and if he can do that, he can change things.”

Man Utd duo set for ‘less of a role’ under Amorim as two January targets are identified

      man-utd-duo-set-for-‘less-of-a-role’-under-amorim-as-two-january-targets-are-identified

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are set for a lesser role under new Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim as January targets emerge, according to reports.

The Red Devils appointed Amorim a couple of weeks ago as they moved quickly to replace Erik ten Hag, who they sacked after a terrible start to the new season.

Man Utd only won three of their opening nine matches under Ten Hag and have gained another four points in the two games since his departure, against Chelsea and Leicester City, with interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy doing well in his short stint.

The Red Devils have done well to keep goals out this term with 12 conceded in 11 matches but they have the fourth-worst attack in the Premier League and sit 13th in the table.

Amorim has a big job on his hands to turn their fortunes around and he will already have ideas of who he wants to keep and who he wants to move on.

And Caught Offside claim that his plan is ‘starting to take shape, with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen looking like having less of a role under the new manager’.

The report adds: ‘The Portuguese tactician is likely to make more use of Manuel Ugarte, despite his slow start since joining in the summer, while Kobbie Mainoo is also seen as an exciting young player who will be key to build around.’

It is also claimed that Man Utd have ‘identified left-back as a priority position to strengthen for the January transfer window’ with Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell and Benfica’s Alvaro Carreras their two top targets.

      The report continues:

‘United have a buy-back clause for Carreras, and sources have also told CaughtOffside that he’s a player Ruben Amorim has mentioned as a target he’d like to work with.

‘Further talks over this position are expected to take place in the coming days, with the club keen to bring in more options in what has been a bit of a problem position in recent times.’

Amorim gave his first interview as Man Utd manager earlier this week and it will be encouraging for fans to hear the former Sporting Lisbon boss talk about “identity”.

The new Man Utd boss said: “We know that we need time, but we have to win time. To win time is to win games. But the most important thing for me is identity.

“From day one we will start with our identity. Of course we are going to prepare for the games, but we will focus a lot on our game model. How to play, how to press, these small details.

“You cannot go 100 per cent on every detail because it will be confusing for the players. So if I have to say one thing, my main goal, my first goal, is identity.”

Speaking to the club’s official channels earlier this week, Amorim added: “I’m a small part of the club.

“I know that the manager or head coach is so important in the club because you have in your hands the engine of the club. I understand that, but I want to be part of something. I don’t want to be just in charge. So I want everybody together. It will be more fun and so much easier to reach the goals.

“A long time ago, we don’t win the Premier League. But if you ask (me), Manchester United is the biggest club in England. So this is part of the history, it is not now. So we have to to address that, to show that and to try to win again.

“That is a great responsibility. And the first thing is that I’m really honoured to be here. It was my only choice because I think I really feel the how big this club is. And then I will do everything for the team.”

United preparing to make stunning €40m move to secure signing of Sporting star “as soon as possible” – report

        united-preparing-to-make-stunning-e40m-move-to-secure-signing-of-sporting-star-“as-soon-as-possible”-–-report

Manchester United intend to find an agreement for Geovany Quenda’s transfer now and leave him at Sporting CP until the summer, as per reports.

Erik ten Hag’s appointment as United manager paved the way for several players with Ajax connections to move to Old Trafford.

As expected, Ruben Amorim’s arrival at the club has also intensified suggestions of United raiding Sporting, with in-form striker Viktor Gyökeres grabbing the most headlines.

The ex-Sporting manager has, however, insisted he doesn’t plan to reunite with his former players in January, but refused to make any promises for the following transfer windows.

Now, a report from Portugal is suggesting the Red Devils are planning to put their plan into action by securing Quenda’s services.

According to A BOLA, United want to resolve the Sporting talent’s situation “as soon as possible” before welcoming him to Old Trafford in the summer.

The 17-year-old star made his breakthrough under Amorim this season. He has impressed at both right wing-back and right-wing and has four goal contributions to his name in 18 appearances across all competitions.

In particular, his composed display in Sporting’s 4-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League early in November earned him plenty of plaudits.

Quenda has a contract lasting until June 2027 that also includes a release clause reported to be worth €100 million.

The Lions expect their 57 number to be the club’s next big sale. However, the Portuguese outlet claims that United plan to test Sporting’s resolve by making an initial offer of around €40m.

Amorim certainly admires Quenda and he has the potential to become a regular fixture on the right flank under his coaching at United too.

Still, it is worth noting that the Mancunian giants have been monitoring the exciting prospect even before they hired the 39-year-old as their head coach.

Gyokeres opens up on chance of him joining Amorim at Man Utd: ‘It’s very sad that he’s leaving’

          gyokeres-opens-up-on-chance-of-him-joining-amorim-at-man-utd:-‘it’s-very-sad-that-he’s-leaving’

Sweden international Viktor Gyokeres has remained coy over his chances of joining former Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim at Man Utd.

The Red Devils are looking to give new boss Amorim the tools to be a success after replacing Erik ten Hag as Man Utd manager earlier this week.

Man Utd made five signings in the summer as they looked to support Ten Hag but their terrible results and performances this season cost him his job.

And there are some concerns that Amorim will have to go back into the transfer market as soon as possible to bring in players to suit his preferred 3-4-3 system, which he has been using at Sporting.

Sport Bild reporter Christian Falk revealed earlier this week that Man Utd are serious players in the race to sign Gyokeres, while they also have interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

Falk wrote in his Caught Offside column: “Manchester United are big competition for Viktor Gyokeres. It’s easier, of course, for United with Ruben Amorim having swapped Sporting CP for Old Trafford.

“Also, Bayern already have Harry Kane in the squad, so Gyokeres won’t get so much playing time in Munich, which isn’t a great argument for Vincent Komapany’s side. The Red Devils are also interested in another Bayern Munich target in Benjamin Sesko (so you see the club is always competing with the Premier League).”

And now Gyokeres has revealed that the new Man Utd boss has not asked the striker to join him at Old Trafford just yet.

When asked about a potential move to Man Utd, Gyokeres said: “He probably has some strikers there already, so we’ll see. No, he hasn’t [asked me to join him].

“It’s fun but nothing I attach any importance to because it’s talk and nothing concrete.”

Gyokeres added: “I want to finish this season at Sporting. I love it here. We will see [about a new club] when the time comes. I want to play, that’s crucial, and there will be also other factors.”

Speaking about Amorim’s exit in general, the Sporting striker continued: “It’s very sad that he’s leaving, but of course we understand his decision.

“He has of course meant a lot [to me] considering that he gave me that chance and that he made me develop so much. Now we look forward to working with the new coach.”

Looking around a floodlit Old Trafford earlier this week, Amorim remarked in his first interview as Man Utd manager: “You watch on TV and you know that it’s big and it’s impressive, but when you are here you can feel it and I think you feel the history.

“I’m really, really proud to be a Manchester United coach, so it’s amazing. It’s a real honour to be here.”

Ten of the greatest disallowed goals features Henry, Tiote and Schmeichel

            ten-of-the-greatest-disallowed-goals-features-henry,-tiote-and-schmeichel

You’d never guess that John Nicholson hates VAR as he runs down some of his favourite disallowed goals…

            Cheick Tiote v Manchester City
Goals were actually disallowed before VAR.

Here, Tiote gathers the ball 30 yards out and drills it into the top right-hand corner over the heads of a packed penalty area. It is a stunning strike and the lad thinks he’s scored what Paul Merson would, like a six-year-old, call ‘a worldy’.

Trouble is three Newcastle players are offside. Not controversial at all and you didn’t need a man in a darkened room in Stockley Park to tell a waiting referee with his finger in his ear, folk-singer style.

Chunky, of course, wags his finger and thinks he knows best but he knows less about football than dancing.

            Thierry Henry v Blackburn
Bit of a classic. Brad Friedel collects the ball with Henry in close attendance. He releases it in order to boot it up field and Henry, the cheeky monkey, boots it as it’s released and goes on to score. Cue outrage. If social media was around, it would have had a meltdown as nerdy boys (it’s always boys) slow down the footage and argue about when exactly a ball is released, as the rest of us see no point in this sort of granular argument and get on with life.

            Youri Tielemans v Fulham
A Leicester corner comes out to Tielemans 30 yards out. He absolutely leathers it into the top corner. But the VAR decides from on high to disallow it simply because a Foxes player is offside, a fact the referee or linesperson should have been able to spot without someone squinting at a screen in a sordid little grief hole, terrified to get it wrong and feel the wrath of Jamie Redknapp’s nepo baby tongue. Great strike but illegal.

READ: You cannot polish the turd that is VAR; just flush it down the toilet

            Don Hutchison v Liverpool
Panties got in a right wad about this one. In the last minute of the Merseyside derby, Liverpool keeper Sander Westerveld collects the ball and launches it up-field, only to hit the world’s most Mackem Scotsman square in the back and bounce back into the goal. Perfectly fine, except Graham Poll disallowed it because he had idiot tendencies and he was prone to terrible decisions. He couldn’t tell you which law was broken to this day.

It’s idiotic decisions like this that increased the demand for VAR to solve. Only it didn’t and we argued about how biased and stupid the VAR is instead.

            Alexis Mac Allister v Leicester
The sort of brilliant strike we all love. Head over the ball, a first-time strike from 30 yards into the top left corner that really makes the net bulge. He runs away joyfully at the goal but uh-oh, here comes the cloak of VAR doom to disallow it. Repeated replays don’t make it much clearer as the ball goes over a crowd of players.

It’s a goal so there must be a way to disallow it and not just because he’s got an annoying, never seen before, space between Mac and Allister. A typical example of the system searching to disallow a goal and smother joy at birth. Thank you, Poindexter, you just ruined football. You must be proud.

Robin van Persie v Manchester City
Another example of kicking the ball out of the keeper’s hands, in this case, Joe Hart’s massive gloves. Only he’s tossed it up in order to boot it and plainly it’s in play, not protected by the goalkeeper’s forcefield. It’s a superb finish as he flicks it up as Hart releases it and then volleys it 25 yards into an open net. A disallowed goal but one which should have been allowed and Joe had some substantial neck to claim it was a foul. A classic bit of Joe Harting.

            Pedro Mendes vs Manchester United
You must remember this. It’s that moment when Roy Carroll advances by 50 yards and clears the ball up-field only, as he runs back to his goal, for it to be immediately cleared back to Pedro Mendes who hooks it towards goal in a 50-yard looping shot. Carroll is still running back and attempts to catch it but makes a total bollocks of it and it bounces out of his arms and into the net. Seeing the ball bouncing into the net, he dives to scoop it out. But he fails.

The ball is in the middle of the net but the linesman doesn’t realise and he gets away with it, albeit giving the lino a shifty look in the process. Not disallowed as such, but a goal not awarded when it should have been.

            Ronaldo v Al Shabab
Of course we had to have a CR7 disallowed goal from the comedy league which nobody watches that people only play in for money. He goes up for one of his ludicrous long-necked headers and scores but it’s ruled out for a push. CR7 protests vehemently as though this is a human rights crime, which is ironic really, and in a fit of paranoia, accuses the referee of being against him, which would have at least been understandable, but obviously not true. But they won 4-0 and the large Adam’s Appled one scored twice. Yeah, they hate you Chris. Now shut up, eh, you massive ar*ehole.

            Peter Schmeichel v Wimbledon
It must have been near the end of the game. The big Dane has gone up for a corner. The ball goes out to the edge of the box, everyone rushes out towards the ball, which gets chipped in and to Schmeichel who, with his back still to goal, manages to hit it with the outside of his foot into the corner. Yay! Great goal. Only its offside. By a country mile. What I like about this is there’s no protestations or complaints. He just runs back, expressionless. No stropping or thinking the world is against you like a total git.

            Leigh Griffiths v Hearts
Another goal-not-given. Imagine how galling it must be to take a free-kick from 45 yards and for it to hit the underside of the bar and go in, only for the referee to not spot it’s gone in the goal and bounced out. Utter blind stupidity. The linesman is standing there and might as well be wearing a blindfold. He hasn’t a clue, even Hibernian’s Griffiths isn’t sure it is a goal. It was probably a Unionist conspiracy.

Picture: Amorim running out of options for Ipswich Town test as another United star suffers injury on international duty

Manchester United’s defensive options have dwindled further with Victor Lindelof picking up an injury during Sweden’s Nations League game against Slovakia.

He was playing on the right side of a back three and picked up what seemed to be a hamstring issue and had to be substituted in the 26th minute.

The Swede had picked up a toe injury in pre-season which had kept him out for more than a month and he will be gutted after picking up another injury so soon after his return.

Since his return, the defender has had to play in multiple positions, at full-back and even in defensive midfield along with at the heart of the backline.

              Lindelof injury

The centre-back had spoken about how happy he was to return to action and how much he was looking forward to working with new head coach Ruben Amorim.

Both were teammates once upon a time at Benfica and keeping in mind the number of injuries, the 30-year-old was in line for regular minutes at the start of the Portuguese’s tenure.

              — Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) November 16, 2024

The former Sporting Lisbon manager likes to play with three centre-backs at the back and with Harry Maguire still sidelined and Leny Yoro get to get back to full fitness, Lindelof was an option to start against Ipswich Town.

But the injury might mean Amorim has to either change his preferred formation or come up with a solution from within the academy.

              Formation change?

Jonny Evans and Matthijs de Ligt are the only fully-fit options at the coach’s disposal with medical tests set to determine the extent of Lisandro Martinez’s back issue.

As for the Sweden international, the injury will further cast doubt regarding his future. His contract with United ends in 2025 and currently, the club have no plans of offering an extension.

And if he fails to play and win over Amorim, an exit seems even more likely. Lindelof is free to agree a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club from as early as January.

Juventus and AC Milan are interested in his services with the Rossoneri’s advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic praising his compatriot and refusing to diffuse the rumours.

United had tried to sell him in the summer only for a toe injury and his wage demands to scupper any chances of an exit.

Lisandro Martinez takes bold step in bid to forge new relationship with Ruben Amorim

                lisandro-martinez-takes-bold-step-in-bid-to-forge-new-relationship-with-ruben-amorim

After a difficult start to the season, interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has steadied the Manchester United ship and ready for Ruben Amorim to take over.

Since his arrival, the Portuguese has spoken about wanting players with intensity and how he is wants the players to agree to his idea about how the team should look like.

Players will be desperate to impress the former Sporting Lisbon manager, who is open to offering every player a clean slate and his decision will be pivotal in contract renewals.

Club captain Bruno Fernandes is set to come back early from international duty and the partnership between skipper and coach will be crucial in driving standards higher.

                Licha’s injury scare

Lisandro Martinez is another of the leaders in the dressing room and was a crucial component of Erik ten Hag’s system, having been brought to the club by the former Ajax coach.

But with the Dutchman no longer at the club, the Argentine will be keen to get along well with the new head coach and as per The Daily Mail, the World Cup winner is also slated to return early to Manchester to begin work under Amorim.

Martinez had picked up an injury during United’s league win over Leicester City, which worsened after a nightmare journey to the team base.

Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni announced that the 26-year-old was in no shape to face Peru and Paraguay in Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers.

But Martinez had the option of staying with the team until the end of international break but he has decided to return early. He will have a series of tests to understand the extent of damage.

“Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has travelled back from international duty early to meet new manager Ruben Amorim.

                Licha set to return early

“The 26-year old was called up by Argentina to face Peru and Paraguay in their World Cup qualifiers but was ruled out after having an injury that he picked up against Leicester City evaluated.

“Martinez still had permission to stay in Argentina with his family for the entirety of the international break but began the journey back to England on Saturday so that he can begin work early with Amorim.

“His first step upon arrival in Manchester will be to undergo tests to assess the extent of the physical discomfort that prevented him from playing for Argentina.”

Hopefully, the issue is not too serious and the player can be fit for Amorim’s first test, against newly-promoted Ipswich Town. Martinez would be the perfect fit as the left-sided centre-back in the coach’s system.

Van Nistelrooy emerges as “preferred choice” for managerial role but there’s a “complex and uncertain” issue – report

                  van-nistelrooy-emerges-as-“preferred-choice”-for-managerial-role-but-there’s-a-“complex-and-uncertain”-issue-–-report

Former Manchester United interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is reportedly the favoured option for the Coventry City job.

Van Nistelrooy returned to United in the summer as part of INEOS’ coaching reshuffle.

Following Erik ten Hag’s sacking late last month, the former Red stepped up in a caretaker capacity, in an effort to try and steady the ship before Ruben Amorim’s official arrival.

United went unbeaten in the four games Van Nistelrooy took charge of. However, despite this, the club confirmed the Dutchman’s departure on Monday.

Since then, he has been linked to the Burnley and Coventry managerial roles.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Van Nistelrooy had submitted his application for the Coventry job.

The Championship outfit, who made the last four of the FA Cup last season, recently parted ways with Mark Robins. The Sky Blues are currently languishing in 17th in the second tier and have chosen to make a change in the dugout.

Alongside Van Nistelrooy, the other candidate in the running for the Coventry job is Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.

Sam Cohen has now given an update on the situation. Cohen wrote on X, ” Understand there are two candidates currently in contention for the Coventry manager role: Frank Lampard and Ruud van Nistelrooy.”

“Ruud is the preferred choice of most involved parties, but the owner is leaning toward Lampard due to their close ties with the Redknapp family.”

“Ruud is willing to accept the role as head coach without additional conditions, whereas Lampard is seeking influence over transfers as part of his appointment.”

“This has created a complex and uncertain situation as discussions continue.”

Earlier this week, Coventry owner Doug King remarked [via talkSPORT], “We’ve received a huge amount of CVs from high-quality people, of which Frank is one.”

“We’ve done nothing on that process…but clearly we’re in the international break, we’ll be assessing everything. We’ll work out who’s going to make the shortlist and we’ll go from there.”

Meanwhile, United are back in action next weekend when they travel to Portman Road to take on Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town.

Robin van Persie expects ‘sensitive’ Arsenal fans to stop his return after Man Utd move ‘closed door’

Robin van Persie does not expect a return to Arsenal in any guise, suggesting that the “door is closed” after he moved to Manchester United in his playing days, with Gunners fans “still sensitive”.

Van Persie spent eight years with Arsenal as a player, bagging 132 goals, and winning the FA Cup, as well as reaching the Champions League final in 2005/06. But after his Arsenal career, he made the switch to rivals Manchester United.

The Dutchman, having never won the Premier League with the Gunners, managed the feat in his first season with United, scoring 26 goals on the way to triumph in the 2012/13 campaign.

His switch to United and subsequent career there was not received well by Arsenal fans, and now that Van Persie has moved into management, which means links to previous clubs at that level will come, he does not feel he will ever be welcome back at the Emirates.

“I don’t expect to work at Arsenal. I think that door is closed,” he told Sportcast.

“Because of my switch to Manchester United, that is my assessment. You never know in football, but that is my assessment.

“It is still sensitive for them, not for me. It is especially sensitive for the Arsenal fans. I have learned that planning so far ahead makes no sense at all.

“I don’t want that either. I mainly live in the here and now. I really enjoy it here and I am very proud to be the coach of SC Heerenveen. I feel I feel very welcome within the club and among the fans. I also think that is important that you feel welcome.”

Van Persie’s Heerenveen side are 12th in the Eredivisie, one spot below where they finished last season. Prior to his spell as the manager there, he spent time with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, having also managed some of Feyenoord’s youth teams.

Official: United confirm arrival of five new coaches as part of Amorim’s backroom staff

                      official:-united-confirm-arrival-of-five-new-coaches-as-part-of-amorim’s-backroom-staff

Manchester United have confirmed the arrival of five new coaches, who will form part of Ruben Amorim’s backroom staff at the club.

Amorim officially arrived at United on Monday to kickstart his reign as the club’s new head coach.

He replaces Erik ten Hag, who was sacked late last month after a string of poor performances and results, with the 2-1 loss to West Ham proving to be the final nail in the Dutchman’s coffin.

Ten Hag’s departure also saw some of his coaches follow him through the exit door including Ruud van Nistelrooy, who temporarily filled in as caretaker boss.

The likes of Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel also parted ways with the Red Devils.

United have now revealed the new coaches who will support Amorim at Old Trafford.

A club statement reads, “Carlos Fernandes, Jorge Vital, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro and Paulo Barreira have all made the move from Sporting to United with our new head coach, who began work in Manchester earlier this week.”

“The quintet join a set-up that already includes first-team coaches Darren Fletcher and Andreas Georgson, plus assistant first-team goalkeeper coach Craig Mawson.”

United say that Fernandes will be Amorim’s “right-hand man” – a role he also held at Sporting. The two also worked together at Braga and Casa Pia,

Vital will serve as United’s first-team goalkeeper coach, collaborating closely with Mawson.

Candido and Ferro have been appointed first-team coaches. Like Fernandes, Candido was on Amorim’s previous staff at Casa Pia, Braga and Sporting. United state that Candido’s employment is subject to receiving a visa.

Meanwhile, Barreira joins United as a physical performance coach. Barreira has previously worked in England with Arsenal and Liverpool. He also enjoyed a stint in Saudi Arabia and the UAE before linking up with Amorim at Sporting in 2020.

Amorim is expected to hold his first training session at Carrington on Monday, ahead of his first match next weekend vs. Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town.
