United star who left club on free transfer in 2022 is now Newcastle’s “main target” – report

Paul Pogba could return to the Premier League, with two English clubs eyeing a move for the former Manchester United superstar, as per Fichajes.

The World Cup-winning midfielder has left Juventus after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract. He joined the Old Lady on a free transfer for the second time after leaving United in the summer of 2022.

His second spell in Turin was nothing short of a nightmare, as he initially spent much of his time on the sidelines due to injury issues. Later, he was handed a four-year doping ban. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced his punishment to 18 months.

The 31-year-old will be free to play from early 2025 and is accordingly in search of a new club.

Amid this, reports emerged that Pogba is set to train at United’s Carrington training complex to regain his fitness. This sent the United faithful into a frenzy, with some fans hoping to see the dynamic midfielder join Ruben Amorim’s project.

However, earlier today, Fabrizio Romano quashed such suggestions by reporting that Pogba is not planning to train at any club, as he is working in Miami and there has been “no contacts with United.”

A United return seems like a far-fetched idea at this point, but the Frenchman could still get an opportunity to show his talents in the Premier League once again.

According to Fichajes, Pogba is the “main target” of Newcastle United and West Ham United, as his suitors still consider him a player of “great class and quality.”

Both Newcastle and West Ham are willing to take a risk and sign him as a free agent as they are confident he is capable of becoming a key part of their respective projects.

The Magpies are hoping to return to European football, while the Hammers’s current aim is to avoid relegation.

Question marks remain over his fitness, but Pogba, known for his passing range and dribbling ability in the middle of the park, has the skill sets to greatly improve midfield of both clubs.

As far as United’s midfield plans are concerned, their first priority seems to be offloading Casemiro.

Van Nistelrooy’s close friend makes incredible admission about his feelings after brutal axing by Amorim

Former Manchester United striker and interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has reportedly been left shattered by his recent club exit.

Van Nistelrooy was initially brought in as part of Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff in the summer but following the Dutchman’s sacking late last month, he was asked to step in in a caretaker capacity.

United went unbeaten in the four games Van Nistelrooy took charge of.

The Red Devils registered victories against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup and the Premier League, a victory over PAOK in the Europa League and a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

Van Nistelrooy repeatedly expressed his desire to stay at Old Trafford and be part of Ruben Amorim’s backroom staff but it appears the new United head coach had other ideas.

Last Monday, United confirmed Van Nistelrooy’s departure, with Amorim electing to bring in five members of his Sporting coaching staff with him.

According to The Mirror, Van Nistelrooy “has been left devastated” by his United departure.

Andre Ooijer, a close friend of the United legend and an individual who was part of his coaching set-up at PSC Eindhoven, revealed that Van Nistelrooy is gutted by the fact he was offloaded.

“Ruud wanted to stay as assistant. He would have said something if he wasn’t interested in working with Amorim. Ruud has had the chance to be manager or head coach at other clubs, but he deliberately did not take those jobs because he wanted to work at the club he loves most.”

“Don’t forget Ruud did really well at United, a draw against Chelsea and victories in the other three matches. You could tell the fans liked him so much.”

“You only had to watch how they reacted to him after his last match. He did so well under difficult circumstances. He has stayed unbeaten as a manager.”

Ooijer added, “If Amorim does not get the right results in the first few games, the crowd could start calling again for Ruud.”

Van Nistelrooy is unlikely to be short of suitors and is already being linked with managerial roles at West Ham, Burnley and Coventry City.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the 48-year-old is the “preferred choice” for the Coventry job.

United could sell Ten Hag signing for just £30m in January despite his impressive form this season – report

        united-could-sell-ten-hag-signing-for-just-30m-in-january-despite-his-impressive-form-this-season-–-report

Manchester United could be willing to part ways with Casemiro for a cut-price fee, as per reports.

United were understood to be prepared to listen to offers for the Brazilian during the summer transfer window on the back of a frustrating 2023/24 campaign.

Despite suggestions of a move to the Saudi Pro League, the veteran midfielder remained at Old Trafford.

Apart from his shaky performance against Liverpool in September, Casemiro did relatively well under Erik ten Hag. His display under interim boss  Ruud van Nistelrooy was even more promising.

Regardless, he is not expected to be a key part of Ruben Amorim’s project.

According to CaughtOffside, Casemiro is likely to have a lesser role under Amorim, who is expected to give more opportunities to his former Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The Uruguayan struggled to get regular game time under Ten Hag after joining the club from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. But since the Dutchman’s sacking, he has impressed with his work out of possession in the middle of the park.

Further, Kobbie Mainoo is also viewed as an exciting option who will be “key to build around.”

This midfield partnership in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation should keep both Casemiro and Eriksen away from the starting lineup.

While Eriksen, who is in the final year of his contract, is more likely to leave next summer as a free agent, Casemiro could reportedly be “made available for a price tag in the region of £30m this January.”

United paid a fee in the region of £60m to sign the 32-year-old from Real Madrid. Still, considering his high wages, his exit, even for a fee of £30m would be good for the Premier League giants.

The same report adds that the Mancunians want to strengthen Amorim’s squad in January by bringing in a new left-back, having set their sights on Álvaro Carreras and Ben Chilwell.

Update emerges amidst speculation of Paul Pogba’s return to Carrington – report

          update-emerges-amidst-speculation-of-paul-pogba’s-return-to-carrington-–-report

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba will not be training at the club’s Carrington training complex as his search for a new employer goes on.

Juventus recently confirmed they had reached a mutual agreement to terminate Pogba’s contract.

The Frenchman was initially handed a four-year ban from football for a doping offence before the suspension was reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport after a successful appeal.

This meant that Pogba could return to training with Juventus in January ahead of making a sensational return to competitive action in March.

However, he is now a free agent and on the hunt for a new team, where he will continue his career.

As his search goes on, Pogba needs to maintain his fitness, especially after such a lengthy period on the sidelines and it was suggested he could be hosted at Carrington.

Training with the Reds could have also given Pogba the chance to attract potential suitors.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has now provided clarity on this and indicated that at the moment, Pogba will not be training at Carrington.

Jacobs wrote on X, “Paul Pogba is training in Miami as he plans his next move.”

“Consideration given to MLS, Europe and Middle East options.”

“Told no plans in place for Paul Pogba to train at Carrington.”

Pogba made 233 appearances for United after re-joining the club in a blockbuster £89million move in the summer of 2016.

The World Cup winner helped the 20-time English champions to win the Europa League and EFL Cup.

United Women return to winning ways as they ease past Leicester in comfortable 2-0 victory

            united-women-return-to-winning-ways-as-they-ease-past-leicester-in-comfortable-2-0-victory

Manchester United Women cruised to a much-needed 2-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Heading into the match, United were on a run of three consecutive draws and pressure was piling on Marc Skinner and his players to clinch a victory.

Skinner fielded a starting XI consisting of Phallon Tullis-Joyce in goal with a defensive four of Jayde Riviere, Maya Le Tissier, Millie Turner and Gabrielle George ahead of her.

The midfield consisted of Celin Bizet, Dominique Janssen, Simi Awujo and Geyse Ferreira. Grace Clinton was deployed just behind striker Elisabeth Terland.

The substitute bench consisted of Safia Middleton-Patel, Lucy Newell, Anna Sandberg, Jess Simpson,  Hayley Ladd, Hinata Miyazawa, Emma Watson, Melvine Malard and Rachel Williams.

United were the better side in the opening minutes although they didn’t fashion any clear-cut opportunities. They kept the ball well and flooded red shirts inside the Leicester box.

The hosts found it very difficult to get outside their own half as United applied the pressure in search of an opener. Clinton nearly broke the deadlock when a cross found her unmarked on the edge of the six-year box. She had a pop but was unable to hit the target.

Leicester attempted to hit back moments later, via a counter. Hannah Cain made her way into the danger area, cut on to her right and attempted to find the top corner but sent her shot wide from six yards.

The defences of both sides were good, keeping the opposite side’s attackers from really threatening.

However, as the match went on, United got closer. Clinton tried to combine with Geyse but her pass was too heavy and Geyse could not bring it under her spell.

Summer signing Awujo nearly found Clinton and Awujo inside the box, for what would have been a certain tap-in but Leicester’s Catherine Bott intercepted the cross to snuff out the danger.

The tricky Cain load off the ball to teammate Nicole Momiki who somehow managed to create some space for herself in the box. United’s defenders swung into action in an effort to thwart Momiki but the ball ended up in the path of a free Cain. Luckily for the Reds, Cain failed to test Tullis-Joyce.

Two minutes of added time were added on at the end of the first half and United finally got their big break as Terland produced a looping header back across the goalkeeper to put her side in the driving seat. The goal was Terland’s fourth in the last three games against the Foxes.

Soon after the break, United were awarded an early free-kick which Clinton just curled over the bar.

Bizet attempted a bold overhead kick but it didn’t come off as she dragged her shot wide. Geyse looked dangerous in the second period, looking to take the defender on whenever the opportunity presented itself. Clinton had another effort, this time a header which went wide after a free-kick from the right.

At around the 64th-minute mark, Skinner looked to his bench and brought on Sandberg to replace George.

Bizet was presented with a golden chance to double United’s advantage when she was sent through on goal but Leicester goalkeeper Janina Leitzig rushed out to deny her. The rebound fell to Clinton but the scrambling defenders managed to clear their lines.

However, Bizet made amends almost immediately, capitalising on a mistake from Bott to expertly slot the ball home for United’s second of the match. The goal was Bizet’s first of the season.

Leicester tried to respond with a speculative shot from distance but Tullis-Joyce easily gathered it.

To get the victory over the line, Skinner made further personnel changes. Miyazawa, Ladd and Malard came on for Clinton, Awujo and Ferreira respectively.

Four minutes were added on but it was no trouble for United, who made sure Leicester didn’t spring up any late surprises.

United are back in action on Wednesday when they face Everton in the Women’s League Cup.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe bungling over Ten Hag sack third in ranking of his mistakes at Manchester United

              sir-jim-ratcliffe-bungling-over-ten-hag-sack-third-in-ranking-of-his-mistakes-at-manchester-united

After buying his stake in Manchester United in February, Sir Jim Ratcliffe admitted he and his INEOS team had “made a lot of cock-ups” in his other footballing ventures, Lausanne and Nice, presumably in a bid to convince the Red Devils fans that they had learned lessons from those mistakes that would not be repeated at Old Trafford.

He will no doubt claim they’ve made great strides off the pitch in his eight months at the helm, but the club is yet to reap the rewards of that supposed improved structure on the pitch, with United 13th in the Premier League and hoping Ruben Amorim can be their saviour aafter Erik ten Hag was given the boot having put them on a steady downward trajectory since the British billionaire bought the club.

Ratcliffe’s also made some questionable strategic calls and ill-advised comments in interviews that are among the mistakes we’ve listed here, including some that the Ratcliffe advocates will claim weren’t his decisions, but – despite his clear ethos of passing it wherever possible – the buck stops with him.

Anyway, here we go: Ratcliffe’s mistakes ranked from minor to major.

              8) The whole staff email
We suspect the Manchester United fans were delighted to hear about Ratcliffe and Ineos’ plan to conduct a ‘thorough strategic review’ of the football club when the British billionaire took charge of all football operations. After years of Glazer family negligence, on and off the pitch, it was necessary.

But while we imagined people in hard hats pointing to leaks in the Old Trafford roof and football coaching svengali Jason Wilcox shaking his head on the side-lines of an Erik ten Hag training session, we didn’t foresee Big Sir Jim himself picking up dirty socks from the academy dressing room.

It’s a level of scrutiny that in some ways reflects well on the fourth-richest man in Britain – he has a hands-on approach – but upon describing the cleanliness of the youth team changing rooms as a ‘disgrace’, along with many of the other facilities on his tour of the club in a leaked whole staff email, Ratcliffe immediately managed to ‘create a toxic feeling inside Carrington’.

He labelled the Manchester United museum – quite possibly the pride and joy of several members of staff – a load of ‘crap’, and in a bid to end the work-from-home culture, told employees to head back to the offices, despite there not being enough desks for them all to work. ‘If you don’t like it, please seek alternative employment,’ he told them.

Your Simon Jordans claimed it was a necessary shake-up, a method of sorting the wheat from the chaff, but there’s also little doubt that some very capable employees – not necessarily all Gen Z woke snowflakes – won’t have enjoyed Ratcliffe’s authoritarian day-one approach, will have taken it as a bleak sign of what was to come and taken a job in a more forward-thinking environment.

              7) ‘Wembley of the North’
Ratcliffe’s claim that a “conversation” with the government was required after proposing that Old Trafford is redeveloped into the ‘Wembley of the North’ was galling, to put it mildly.

The suggestion was that the burden of financing United’s next chapter should be shared between him, a man worth around £12bn, and the taxpayers. A brazen proposal even before you consider that Ratcliffe himself is a tax exile having officially changed his residence in 2020 from Hampshire to Monaco in a move estimated to have saved him £4bn, which is enough to build two Wembleys of wherever.

              6) FA Cup travel
In order to give Manchester United the best chance of on-field success, no saving is off-limits in the Ratcliffe regime, as those travelling to the FA Cup final discovered.

As joyous as that day became, any staff attending did so without recourse to former privileges. They each paid £20 towards travel costs that previously came as a perk of the job, while packed lunches were also seen as a luxury they could do without by the penny-pinchers at a club that had generated record revenues of £650m in its last accounts.

              5) Cutting the disability budget
Not nearer the top because they’re only ‘considering it’ but even thinking about cutting the disabled supporters’ association budget in half is deplorable.

As David Ornsein say, it’s “terrible optics” for a football club that has routinely spunked tens of millions of pounds on average footballers to believe that a viable and reasonable method of cutting costs is to make the lives of their disabled supporters harder. The audacity would almost be impressive if it wasn’t so shameful.

              4) Job cuts
The optics aren’t great when only a few months after staff members were all told they were crucial in helping contribute to on-field success, 250 of them were made redundant as part of Ratcliffe’s determination to slash costs by scrapping ‘non-essential’ activities.

Nearly a quarter of United’s employees lost their jobs and many of them, understandably, may well have pointed out that poor first-team recruitment has wasted far more money than will have been saved by cutting the rank-and-file workforce.

And those redundancies were made before the club spent another £200m in the summer on further under-performing footballers, most of whom can’t currently displace the in-situ under-performing, exorbitantly paid footballers from the first team.

Each of the 250 employees would have to be earning £55,000 per year to make getting rid of them more cost effective than paying Matthijs de Ligt his salary to sit on the bench, and that’s without considering the centre-back’s transfer fee, which would have been enough to keep those staff members in their jobs on that wage for three years.

              3) Women’s team
At the end of June, four months after his purchase of 27% of Manchester United (yes, Manchester United as a whole), Ratcliffe was asked whether he had considered spinning off the women’s team, with Chelsea having recently announced that their side will become a standalone entity.

“We haven’t got into that level of detail with the women’s team yet. We’ve been pretty much focused on how we resolve the first team issues.”

We understand why the men’s team is the priority. It’s the cash cow and what him and his team will ultimately be judged upon. But word to the wise Jim, don’t call them ‘the first team’. The women aren’t reserves just because they’re not men.

A slip of the tongue, maybe, but a telling one which when added to him moving the women out of their training facility and into portable buildings to make room for the men, which hardly paints Ratcliffe as a beacon of equality.

Asked in the same interview about what they are doing with the women’s team, Ratcliffe replied: “Well they’ve just won the FA Cup” as if he a) cared having not even watched the game, and b) had anything whatsoever to do with that success.

And imagine if he had given the same answer about the men when – as he well knows – the FA Cup win deflected from a poor league season and much deeper problems. He did not seem to have the same grasp of the issues with the women’s team, who finished 20 points behind champions Chelsea in the WSL last term.

              3) Not sacking Erik ten Hag in the summer
Handing someone who has just overseen the worst season in the club’s history a contract extension is one of the worst decisions made by anyone ever. They played well once, in the FA Cup final, having embarrassed themselves in the semi-final against Coventry, the entire Champions League campaign and the vast majority of their league fixtures. Manchester United were awful.

Their excuse for not replacing Ten Hag being the lack of suitable alternatives has now been exposed as nonsense given the manager they’re now hiring was so available in the summer that he flew to London to meet West Ham on the eve of his side’s crunch clash with Porto in their title run-in.

              2) Changing the coaching staff in the summer
Instead of sacking Ten Hag in the summer they got rid of his two assistant coaches, Steve McClaren and Mitchell van der Gaag, replacing them with Rene Hake and Ruud van Nistelrooy, who are arguably the two guys to have been most screwed by Ratcliffe and INEOS’ bungling.

Ruben Amorim has brought his own coaches because it would be mad to leave behind the people who have played a significant role in his success at Sporting, meaning Ruud and Rene et al. are out on their ears after three months at Old Trafford.

A lucky escape some would argue and they’re presumably been well-compensated, as were Sporting for United nicking their manager and coaching staff, which all-in-all reportedly leaves United close to the PSR line

              1) Buying players for Erik ten Hag
We were told that Jason Wilcox, brought in as the new technical director, would be the man to ‘determine and drive the move to a clear “game model” – effectively a cohesive playing style and identity United intend to replicate across all age groups.’

And apparently, unbelievably, after ‘providing a detailed assessment of Ten Hag’s strengths and weaknesses’ as the first duty in his new post, Wilcox reported back that not only was Ten Hag the right man for the job, he was also so good at his job that the club should continue to sign players to fit his system rather than individuals with a broader ethos in mind.

Wilcox, Dan Ashworth and the other directors may claim it’s a happy coincidence that the style of their former first-team coach was also the new Manchester United Way, though wouldn’t be at all surprised if the new Manchester United Way is actually more in line with Amorim’s ethos, which will require a host of his players rather than the Ten Hag’s, meaning the perpetual cycle of Red Devils managers being three to four signings away from challenging for the title will continue.

Gyokeres makes positive noises about potential United move, fans will be buzzing

                gyokeres-makes-positive-noises-about-potential-united-move,-fans-will-be-buzzing

Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres has left the door open for a future move to Manchester United.

Ever since Ruben Amorim agreed to take over the head coach role at Old Trafford, there has been much talk in the press that he will take the 26 year old striker with him.

Gyokeres is in red-hot form as he is the joint top scorer in this season’s Champions League with five goals and he has plundered a massive total of 23 in all competitions for Sporting.

He is currently on international duty with Sweden, where he has also been in lethal form, netting five goals and four assists in five Nations League matches, including a goal against Slovakia last night.

The Swede is said to be available for £20 million less than his release clause and Sporting Lisbon are reportedly open to a sale in the summer.

Speaking to Swedish outlet, Fotbollskanalen, the attacker opened up on his long term future.

When asked about whether he will move in the summer he stated, “it’s not something I think about. Of course, you want to play out the season at Sporting and I enjoy myself there, so there is no stress for me to make a move in the future. We’ll see when the time comes.”

Gyokeres also claimed that when the time comes for him to move on, he had no particular preference to where we will end up.

“It’s hard for me to say. I have no particular preference. We’ll see if it works out in the future, how it feels then.”

He also spoke of his sadness that Amorim was leaving Sporting by claiming, “it is very sad that he is leaving, but of course we understand his decision. He has obviously meant a lot considering that he gave me that chance and that he made me develop so much.”

The in-form striker then stated that he isn’t paying too much attention to links to reconnecting with his former manager in the near future as it is all “talk” at the moment but implied that he would certainly be open to a reunion with the 39 year old.

When asked directly about United’s interest he hardly slammed the door shut by asserting, “he probably has some strikers there already, so we’ll see.”

Gyokeres did outline what he expects from a new club and this was to “get an important role and that you get to play. That is the most important thing. There are other pieces that should also be in place, but I’ll have to take it when it comes.”

With Barcelona recently ruling themselves out of the running for the striker and Gyokeres’ total trust in Amorim to get the best out of him, United should be in a very strong position to strike if they decide to push ahead with a move for the Scandinavian sensation.

Manchester United academy star Sonny Aljofree scored his first senior goal as Accrington Stanley drew 2-2 with Swindon Town.

The 19 year old has become a regular feature of the ‘Owd Reds’ starting line-up and consistently starts on the right hand side of a three man defence.

Aljofree has played 10 games in total and has logged seven consecutive games, playing the entire 90 minutes of action in each, as he gains valuable minutes in League Two.

His side managed a 2-2 draw at home to Swindon as they were pegged back in the second half.

After falling a goal down early in the first half, Aljofree struck to bring his side level in the encounter after 16 minutes.

A corner kick was flung in and the United youngster made an intelligent run to the near post and cutely flicked the ball on with his left foot.

The ball sailed over everyone, including the Swindon keeper and nestled in the opposite corner to bring parity to proceedings.

It will have been a wonderful moment for the youngster as it was his first goal in senior football and just reward for the fine work he is putting in at the Wham Stadium.

Unfortunately, the rest of the game did not reach the same standards as Aljofree struggled in his defensive duties.

Sofascore gave him a score of 6.7 despite the goal as he failed to make an impression defensively.

He made one clearance in the game but was very poor in the air as he lost all eight of his aerial duels.

The youngster also failed to complete a ground duel or a tackle in the contest.

He had 30 touches of the ball but was poor on it, as he only completed 44% of his passes and gave the ball away a wasteful 16 times.

Nonetheless, he will be ecstatic to have bagged his first senior goal and also the large bank of minutes he is building up in his introduction to senior football.

Accrington and Aljofree will next be in action when they take on AFC Wimbeldon on Tuesday night.

Manchester United plan to strengthen their left-back area for Ruben Amorim in the January transfer window, as per reports.

Amorim is yet to take his first training session as United manager at Carrington, but the Red Devils’ transfer plans for their new head coach are starting to take shape.

According to CaughtOffside, the club’s hierarchy have identified left-back as a “priority position” to address during the winter window, and have earmarked Ben Chilwell and Alvaro Carreras as main targets.

Chilwell, whom Chelsea signed for a fee in the region of £50 million from Leicester City, has been on United’s radar even before Amorim’s arrival.

The English left-back has been pushed on the fringes at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca, who has handed him just one appearance all season.

Carreras, meanwhile, only swapped Benfica for United in January of 2024 on an initial loan deal. The Portuguese club recognised his potential and pulled the trigger to make him their player on a permanent basis.

His rise in stature and consistent performances in Bruno Lage’s squad have attracted United’s interest once again. The Premier League giants first signed him from Real Madrid’s academy in 2020.

CaughtOffside reports that United have a buy-back clause for their academy product, and the 21-year-old Spaniard is a player “Ruben Amorim has mentioned as a target he’d like to work with.”

Amorim’s 3-4-3 system requires an attacking full-back, and Carreras has shown he is capable of playing that role during his stint at Benfica as well as Preston North End, where he spent a season on loan.

It is understood further talks over the left-back position are expected to be held in the coming days.

Both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have yet to feature for United this season.

Question marks remain over Shaw’s fitness but Malacia recently returned to action after nearly 18 months, making an appearance for the Mancunians’ U21 side in the EFL trophy against Huddersfield.

Manchester United have been playing without a specialist left-back for the best part of one-and-a-half seasons now.

Luke Shaw had missed over 30 games last season while backup full-back Tyrell Malacia ended up missing the whole campaign. The Englishman remains sidelined while the Dutch star is on his way back and even played in a recent U21 game.

This season, both right-backs Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have been taking turns playing there while centre-back Lisandro Martinez has also deputised there.

After a brilliant pre-season campaign, it was expected that Erik ten Hag would hand academy sensation Harry Amass some minutes, maybe in the Carabao Cup.

                      Villa interested in Amass

But the former manager did not think the 17-year-old was ready and hence, the ex-Watford man got no chances. Under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, Amass finally found himself on the bench, even though a debut eluded him.

Lots of rumours have been swirling around that Ruben Amorim wants to re-sign Alvaro Fernandez in January and that could further hurt Amass’ chances of a breakthrough this season.

As recently relayed by The Peoples Person, top-four rivals Aston Villa are looking to take advantage of this situation by trying to sign the United academy defender in January.

Football Insider have now revealed that the Villans have been keeping a close watch on the full-back’s performances this season for the United U21s and have been impressed enough to try and acquire him this winter.

Unai Emery wants to sign young players and the England U18 international fits the bill. However, United will block any approach for the Englishman as they feel the youngster is too talented to let go.

INEOS feel Amorim’s wing-back system suits Amass and with the Portuguese’s knack for trusting youth, his chances of finally making his debut is expected to go up.

“Man United are expected to prevent Harry Amass from leaving the club amid interest from Aston Villa, sources have told Football Insider.

                      United to block Villa approach

“Villa’s interest in Amass has emerged as they feel they can offer him a clearer pathway into their first-team, with their ambitious view for the future.

“United view Amass as a key player for the future with “huge potential”, and despite growing interest, it would take a huge fee to tempt them into selling.

“The Portuguese boss plays wing-backs in his system, and there is a belief that Amass is more suited to the role than the makeshift options used so far this season.”

The former Watford star has impressed for the United reserves, playing 10 times in all competitions while registering three assists. United had to fight off the likes of Villa and plenty others to sign Amass from Watford in 2023.
