Man Utd ‘bidding hard’ for free transfer as Real Madrid ‘refuse to do anything crazy’

    man-utd-‘bidding-hard’-for-free-transfer-as-real-madrid-‘refuse-to-do-anything-crazy’

Man Utd are ‘bidding hard’ to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies on a free transfer, according to reports.

The Red Devils appointed Ruben Amorim on November 1 as they moved quickly to replace Erik ten Hag, who they sacked after a terrible start to the new season.

Man Utd only won three of their opening nine matches under Erik ten Hag and have gained another four points in the two games since his departure, against Chelsea and Leicester City, with interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy doing well in his short stint.

The Red Devils have done well to keep goals out this term with 12 conceded in 11 matches but they have the fourth-worst attack in the Premier League and sit 13th in the table.

There have been lots of rumours about who Amorim – who arrived in Manchester on Monday – will look to sign in the January transfer window if funds are available.

But Man Utd also have one eye on the summer transfer window and any bargain deals that can be had with the Red Devils very interested in Bayern Munich defender Davies.

The Canada international’s contract is up at the end of the season and he is free to leave for nothing at the end of the season if he doesn’t agree a new deal at the Allianz Arena.

And now Spanish publication AS (via Sport Witness) claim that Man Utd ‘bidding hard’ to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Davies.

Real Madrid are the favourites to sign Davies because of their recent history and out of other interested teams it is understood to be ‘mainly’ Man Utd who are actively pursuing the Canadian.

The report speculates that his agent is trying to ‘make the most of the situation’ with Sport Witness adding that Man Utd could have a ‘chance’ to sign Davies with Real Madrid ‘refusing to do anything crazy’.

Davies’ agent Nedal Huoseh recently gave Man Utd hope too by dismissing rumours that the Bayern Munich star had already agreed to join La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Huoseh said: “Although the player has many options, we have not reached an agreement with any club. Any information that suggests otherwise is incorrect.”

Former Man Utd defender Paul Parker reckons the Red Devils would be silly to pursue a move for Davies as it would ultimately end in disappointment.

Parker told BonusCodeBets.co.uk: “I think Alphonso Davies wants to go to Real Madrid. So, I don’t think there is any point talking about him.

“Man Utd might be silly enough to involve themselves in a battle for him, but if he wants to go to Madrid, they should let him go there.

“I think he is just waiting for them. As a player, he would be a very good fit, but I think there is no point talking about it.”

“Amorim’s opinion will be considered”: United exit of Ten Hag’s reliable star all but certain – report

      “amorim’s-opinion-will-be-considered”:-united-exit-of-ten-hag’s-reliable-star-all-but-certain-–-report

Manchester United are expected to let Christian Eriksen leave at the end of the season, claims Fabrizio Romano.

One of the biggest headaches new United manager Ruben Amorim inherits from his predecessor Erik ten Hag centres around midfield.

Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation, which worked wonders at Sporting CP, sees one of the two midfielders push higher up the field and into the final third. Meanwhile, the other midfielder is often tasked with helping the side during build-up and has ball-winning responsibility in transitions.

As such, both starting midfielders in Amorim’s lineup should ideally be technically proficient and physically dominant. Apart from Kobbie Mainoo, who is still relatively inexperienced, there isn’t any player in the first-team that fits the profile.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report suggesting Amorim intends to sign “players with intensity”. This leaves question marks over long-term futures of ageing stars Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.

It seems Eriksen, in particular, has no place in Amorim’s project, despite his impressive start to the 2024/25 campaign.

The 32-year-old Dane, who has been directly involved in seven goals across all competitions this term, is nearing the final months of his deal at Old Trafford, having joined the Red Devils as a free agent during Ten Hag’s first summer in Manchester.

The ex-Brentford star will be free to negotiate with clubs outside England starting in January. Still, United are yet to open talks with him over a new contract.

Shining light on the development, Fabrizio Romano posted: “Manchester United and Christian Eriksen are still expected to part ways at the end of the season.”

He continued: “No negotiations taking place over new deal, while Rúben Amorim’s opinion will also be considered — but Eriksen’s expected to leave.”

Since Amorim’s opinion will be considered before a final decision is made on Eriksen, it is not far-fetched to assume that things could change quickly if the Denmark international manages to impress his new head coach in training.

Having said that, considering his age and lack of intensity out of possession, it is best for all parties to move forward and look for alternatives.

Man Utd: Amorim given two-word boost on ‘amazing’ Gyokeres transfer tipped to be ‘PL best signing’

        man-utd:-amorim-given-two-word-boost-on-‘amazing’-gyokeres-transfer-tipped-to-be-‘pl-best-signing’

An ex-Manchester United star says they would be pulling off the “best signing in recent times in the Premier League” if they land Viktor Gyokeres.

New Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim signed Gyokeres from Championship outfit Coventry City for around £15m during the 2023 summer transfer window.

Gyokeres has massively surpassed expectations following his move to Sporting Lisbon as he’s the 2024 top scorer in Europe. He has 66 goals and 19 assists in his 68 appearances for the Primeira Liga leaders across all competitions.

The Sweden international’s immense form for Sporting Lisbon has fuelled speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League.

Following Amorim’s move to Man Utd, the Red Devils have been heavily linked with Gyokeres as they have struggled in front of goal this season.

Speaking last week, Gyokeres remained coy when he asked about a potential move to Man Utd.

He said: “He probably has some strikers there already, so we’ll see. No, he hasn’t [asked me to join him].

“It’s fun but nothing I attach any importance to because it’s talk and nothing concrete.”

In a potential boost to Man Utd, Portugal international and former Southampton defender Jose Fonte has revealed that Portugease clubs have “no option” but to sell their prized assets “for the right price”.

“Portuguese clubs have got no option but to sell for the right price. We need to sell. Portuguese clubs have to sell one or two players every season,” Fonte said.

“We don’t have the same TV rights as the Premier League so we don’t have the capacity to hold on to players. It would be lovely to see Portugal with a little bit more capacity to hold on to their talent, of course.

“That’s what people in the various federations are trying to do. Sporting will listen and they will probably have to sell Viktor Gyokeres because Portuguese clubs have to raise big money every year.”

Ex-Man Utd defender Paul Parker says Gyokeres could be “one of the best signings in recent times in the Premier League” if his former club acquire his services.

“I think it would be amazing if Man United can sign Gyokeres. In my opinion, it would be one of the best possible signings and maybe one of the best signings in recent times in the Premier League,” Parker said.

“He knows how Amorim wants to play and vice versa. He would be the perfect addition, and also add some competition to Højlund who really needs it, because he hasn’t shown enough yet.”

“Gyokeres would be a top striker in the Premier League.”

New signing plotting to leave United as pressure becomes “unbearable” – report

          new-signing-plotting-to-leave-united-as-pressure-becomes-“unbearable”-–-report

Joshua Zirkzee is edging increasingly closer to the exit door at Manchester United if recent reports are to be believed.

Having only arrived at Man United this past summer, the Dutch forward has struggled to adjust to life at Old Trafford, managing to score just one goal in 15 appearances, namely, the winner in his Premier League debut against Fulham.

Unfortunately for Zirkzee, his constant underperformance has not gone unnoticed by new United manager Ruben Amorim, who reportedly views the struggling forward as “not being ‘adequate’” and therefore disposable in the transfer market.

Still, it’s not only figures at the club who may be exploring the player’s potential departure. Last month, The Peoples Person discussed Zirkzee’s apparent feelings of regret over his move to Old Trafford.

This morning, CalcioMercato doubled down on this claim, reporting that Zirkzee is open to a transfer.

“What is certain is that according to sources close to him [Zirkzee] and as reported by Repubblica, the player is open to a change of scenery,” the report read.

“The pressure in Manchester is becoming unbearable for him, who has already been dubbed a dud by his own fans, who have recently questioned his physical form. And Serie A continues to tease him.”

According to the article, Juventus is a likely destination for the youngster, who burst onto the scene following his impressive display at Bologna last season.

“The Zirkzee-Juventus connection is made almost automatic by the presence of Motta, the man who has been able to make the most of his unique characteristics,” the article concluded, with Juventus manager Thiago Motta being touted as the mentor who may be able to unlock Zirkzee’s potential.

Still, Zirkzee’s link to Juventus is nothing new, with a previous report claiming that he could leave for the Serie A club as soon as January.

Another potential deal that has been suggested is a swap deal between United and Sporting, which would see Zirkzee depart in exchange for fellow striker Viktor Gyokeres.

While Zirkzee’s future remains unclear, one thing is certain – his poor form has resulted in a loss of confidence, not only at United but the Netherlands’ national team, with manager Ronald Koeman excluding the 23 year old from his matchday squad for Saturday’s 4-0 win over Hungary.

Whether he decides to leave Old Trafford for new pastures or chooses to fight for his place in Amorim’s squad, Zirkzee will need to act fast in order to reclaim the faith of his managers and salvage his career.

Man Utd: Romano reveals Amorim ‘loves’ two stars as ‘generational talent’ with no appearances is identified

            man-utd:-romano-reveals-amorim-‘loves’-two-stars-as-‘generational-talent’-with-no-appearances-is-identified

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that new head coach Ruben Amorim “loves” two Manchester United stars and will build his team around them.

Amorim has been appointed to replace Erik ten Hag, who Man Utd sacked after last month’s disappointing 2-1 loss at West Ham.

The 39-year-old is regarded as one of the best young managers in the world. Since 2020, he’s helped Sporting Lisbon win the Primeira Liga title twice and they have won their first eleven matches this season.

Amorim was linked with Liverpool and West Ham in the summer before they appointed Arne Slot and Julen Lopetegui. Despite this, Man Utd was the Premier League club that landed him, as they moved quickly and decisively to secure his services.

The former Sporting boss officially took over at Man Utd last week and has a big job. They are 13th in the Premier League ahead of Sunday’s trip to face Ipswich Town.

The Red Devils have a squad capable of challenging for the Champions League and Amorim will at least be targeting European qualification this season.

Ahead of his first game in charge, a report from Romano revealed Amorim “loves” summer signing Leny Yoro and academy product Kobbie Mainoo.

“Kobbie Mainoo is a crucial player for Manchester United owners, directors, and for Manchester United staff,“ said Romano on his YouTube channel.

“Ruben Amorim loves these kind of players. Kobbie Mainoo, Leny Yoro… these sort of players are exactly the direction he wants to take for Man Utd’s future.

“So the new contract of Mainoo is going to be an important topic in the next few weeks and months. Man Utd are still working on it.

“We are not yet at the final stages but the conversation remains ongoing and the conversation remains positive on both player and club sides.”

Mainoo was one of the standout players in the Premier League last season as he enjoyed a breakout season and also shone for England at Euro 2024.

Yoro meanwhile was one of Man Utd’s first summer signings as they beat Real Madrid in the race to sign the highly-rated 19-year-old for around £52m.

The centre-back is yet to make an appearance for Man Utd this season as he has been sidelined with a foot injury. Despite this, speaking last week, Romano claimed Amorim consider Yoro “one of the most interesting players to develop at Man Utd”.

“Ruben Amorim and his staff consider Leny Yoro one of the most interesting players to develop for Man United’s long term project,” Romano said.

“He’s considered a generational talent by the club and Amorim with his staff fully agree on that.

“Yoro’s full recovery is also at the final stages.”

“Allergic to defeat”: Nani highlights the depth of Ronaldo’s competitive streak at United

              “allergic-to-defeat”:-nani-highlights-the-depth-of-ronaldo’s-competitive-streak-at-united

Former Manchester United winger Luis Nani has opened up on how deep Cristiano Ronaldo’s competitive streak runs.

The winger joined United in 2007 after moving from Sporting Lisbon and would go on to play 230 times for the Red Devils, scoring 40 goals.

He is currently playing his football back in his native Portugal for Club Football Estrela Amadora SAD.

After moving to Old Trafford all those years ago, he moved in with Cristiano Ronaldo and fellow new signing, Anderson.

Speaking to The Players’ Tribune he outlined how competitive even a young Cristiano Ronaldo was.

“Jorge Mendes was his agent, too, and Cristiano was living alone. So I moved in with him and Anderson, who had just arrived at Man Utd. What a time it was. We were all young lads who spoke the same language, and we had so much fun. Cristiano had a swimming pool, a Ping-Pong table, a tennis court – and every day we would compete at something.”

Such was the young Portuguese’s aversion to losing that the people around him would do all within their power to make sure he would not suffer it.

“One time we had a quiz with Carlos Queiroz, Sir Alex’s assistant. I gave my answer and Cristiano gave his, and I knew mine was right. So you know what Queiroz did? He tried to change the answer to make sure that Cristiano would be right.”

“That’s what it was like with Cristiano. He could never accept losing. Never! But we loved that about him, and we learned a lot from him. By the time Anderson and I left that house, we had become allergic to defeat, too!”

Ronaldo went on to have an incredible career, scoring 910 goals for both club and country and winning numerous major trophies at Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.

Whilst his spectacular return to Old Trafford in 2021 didn’t quite work out, he has continued his fine displays at Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, where he has scored 10 goals this season.

This failure to accept losing has also been the secret to his longevity which has seen him still represent his nation regularly despite turning 40 this February.

United make €100m bid for European history maker who would “fit perfectly” into Amorim’s plans – report

                united-make-e100m-bid-for-european-history-maker-who-would-“fit-perfectly”-into-amorim’s-plans-–-report

Manchester United look set to battle it out with Paris Saint-Germain for Atalanta attacker Ademola Lookman.

The Red Devils have struggled to score goals all season and this issue will be high up Ruben Amorim’s list of things to solve in the coming weeks.

Whilst Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford have had decent starts to the season, it is widely believed that United need more in attack with both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to find the net with any consistency.

Lookman has been in fine form over the past two seasons and famously became the first player to score a hat trick in the Europa League final in May as Atalanta overwhelmed Bayer Leverusen 3-0.

The Nigerian’s strong performances have continued into this season as he has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 14 matches.

Fichajes report that it is this consistency that has led to two of Europe’s biggest clubs pursuing the 27 year old’s signature.

The Spanish outlet reports that “Ademola Lookman, currently playing for Atalanta BC, is the big target for Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain. Both teams have submitted offers close to €100 million for the Nigerian winger, who has become one of the sensations of Serie A with Atalanta.”

His ability to score and create goals, alongside his tactical flexibility allowing him to play in numerous positions has increased his appeal, “leading elite teams such as PSG and Manchester United to take notice of him.”

“Under the direction of Ruben Amorim, United are working on rebuilding their squad, and Lookman would fit perfectly into the plans of the Red Devils team. His versatility and ability to generate danger in the opposition’s area make him a highly desired addition for a team that seeks to regain its place among the best in England and Europe.”

Despite the importance of the player to Atalanta, they are reportedly happy to sanction a sale, as they know that the huge price tag would do wonders for their finances.

Lookman would certainly be an intriguing signing as he has reinvented himself into one of the most potent attackers in European football.

His signing would also be an abrupt change from the age profile that United have signed under Ineos, but perhaps a more experienced attacking option is exactly what the Red Devils’ squad needs to help support the plethora of young attackers at the club’s disposal.

Amorim desperate to “cut losses” on United star who is not “adequate”, days look numbered – report

                  amorim-desperate-to-“cut-losses”-on-united-star-who-is-not-“adequate”,-days-look-numbered-–-report

New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim reportedly does not count on Joshua Zirkzee as his days already look numbered despite playing less than six months at the club.

The Dutch striker became the first signing of the Ineos era at the start of the summer window as United successfully duelled with AC Milan for the signing.

Zirkzee’s career at Old Trafford got off to the perfect start as he netted a late winner on debut versus Fulham.

Since then however, he has desperately struggled and missed a host of chances before finally having to settle for a place on the bench behind Rasmus Hojlund.

Due to his poor form he has been dropped from the Dutch national team for the latest round of international fixtures and it appears he is not in the plans of the incoming United head coach.

It has been suggested by other sources that Zirkzee will not have a major role under Amorim, as he seeks to reunite with his former striker at Sporting Lisbon, Viktor Gyokeres.

Accordingly, GIVEMESPORT report that “Manchester United are reportedly prepared to cut their losses on £36.5 million acquisition, Joshua Zirkzee, with Ruben Amorim considering the striker as not being ‘adequate’.”

“The future looks uncertain for the 23-year-old, who is thought to not be involved in Amorim’s plans either. As such, a sale is a possible solution, and if one can be organised as early as January, it would allow the Red Devils to invest into a more suitable option for the centre forward role.”

Such is Amorim’s desire to move on from the player that a loan deal is a “viable” option to protect the 23 year old’s value for a summer sale.

What’s more, Zirkzee was reportedly not even previous manager Erik ten Hag’s first choice of striker this summer, to make the signing even more befuddling.

Whilst it would seem harsh to write off a signing so early and without seeing him play in the flesh, there is no denying that Zirkzee is a completely different profile to the number nine Amorim has used in Portugal.

In addition, the striker has looked so bereft of confidence, it has led to numerous pundits questioning whether the Dutchman will ever be able to shoulder the responsibility of playing in such a pressure cooker of a situation like United.

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. “Top-level signing”: United, Liverpool set for blockbuster tussle to land former Chelsea attacker in red-hot form – report

                    “top-level-signing”:-united,-liverpool-set-for-blockbuster-tussle-to-land-former-chelsea-attacker-in-red-hot-form-–-report

Manchester United’s right flank has been a problem position for sometime now. Erik ten Hag thought Antony’s arrival would fix the issue, but the Brazilian has failed to shine in red.

He is expected to be moved on under Ruben Amorim. Both Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho prefer the left flank, which leaves Amad Diallo as the only suitable option.

It is clear that another right-sided profile is needed and Calciomercato have claimed that the Red Devils are keeping an eye on Christian Pulisic of AC Milan.

The American has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and is in scintillating form, scoring seven times while registering five assists in 15 games this season.

                    Pulisic on fire

The Serie A has suited the 26-year-old, who had scored 15 times in the previous campaign as well while also getting 11 assists. But he has unfinished business in the Premier League after a disappointing spell at Chelsea.

Liverpool and West Ham United are two other teams in the race but the Rossoneri consider the US international as “irreplaceble” and “unsellable”.

They will only entertain thoughts of moving him on should anyone bid over €60 million for his services, with the investors set make a huge profit on their initial outlay.

“The Milan of the present continues to speak American and its Captain America, Christian Pulisic continues to be a fundamental cornerstone of this team… Very important performances that have not gone unnoticed.

                    United eyeing the US star

“The most important recalls are coming from the Premier League. Pulisic is instead very much liked by Liverpool, with the future of the US playmaker inevitably intertwined with the possible early farewell of Federico Chiesa returning to Serie A (Milan is there, but so is Inter).

“And also by Manchester United and West Ham of Amorim and Lopetegui who are looking for a top-level signing to lift a deficient ranking but with a Champions League spot still largely within reach.”

The Milan giants had got him for only €21 million last summer with the US star’s deal valid until 2027. And Pulisic is relatively young and his knowledge of the English game makes him a perfect fit for INEOS.

However, Milan’s valuation and the fact that Amorim’s system might not involve out-and-out wingers or attacking midfielders makes a pursuit of the American highly redundant at the moment.

                      united-women-suffer-devastating-injury-blow-as-key-star-is-ruled-out-of-action-until-the-new-year-–-report

Manchester United Women star Ella Toone has reportedly been ruled out of action for several weeks due to a calf injury.

Toone was not part of the matchday squad for United’s 2-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday afternoon at the King Power Stadium.

United clinched all three points courtesy of goals from Elisabeth Terland and Celine Bizet.

Marc Skinner spoke to the media and confirmed that Toone will miss both the team’s midweek trip to Everton in the Women’s League Cup and their WSL meeting with Chelsea next weekend.

It’s understood that Toone sustained the injury during a training session on Friday.

Skinner said, “Yesterday in training Ella took a calf injury.”

“She was running and just felt something. She will miss the next two games, she will miss Everton and Chelsea, then we will speak later in the week to know the scale of it.”

“Potentially [she will be available for England] – we don’t know that yet.”

Even more concerning is that according to The Daily Mail’s Kathryne Batte, Toone is unlikely to play any competitive fixtures this year.

Batte wrote on X, “Understand Ella Toone has torn her calf and is set to be ruled out for six weeks, meaning she’ll miss England’s games with the United States and Switzerland.”

“Likely to be back in the New Year. A blow for Manchester United and the Lionesses.”

Toone’s unavailability for the fixture vs. Leicester marks the end of a record-breaking run for Toone as it’s the first time she has missed a game since United were promoted to the WSL in the 2019/20 campaign.

The 25-year-old appeared for United in their 96 previous league matches in succession – the most of any outfield star for the same club in league history.

Toone has not scored a goal so far this season.
