Video: United starlet bags first ever senior goal to snatch draw for League Two side

Manchester United academy star Sonny Aljofree scored his first senior goal as Accrington Stanley drew 2-2 with Swindon Town.

The 19 year old has become a regular feature of the ‘Owd Reds’ starting line-up and consistently starts on the right hand side of a three man defence.

Aljofree has played 10 games in total and has logged seven consecutive games, playing the entire 90 minutes of action in each, as he gains valuable minutes in League Two.

His side managed a 2-2 draw at home to Swindon as they were pegged back in the second half.

After falling a goal down early in the first half, Aljofree struck to bring his side level in the encounter after 16 minutes.

A corner kick was flung in and the United youngster made an intelligent run to the near post and cutely flicked the ball on with his left foot.

The ball sailed over everyone, including the Swindon keeper and nestled in the opposite corner to bring parity to proceedings.

It will have been a wonderful moment for the youngster as it was his first goal in senior football and just reward for the fine work he is putting in at the Wham Stadium.

Unfortunately, the rest of the game did not reach the same standards as Aljofree struggled in his defensive duties.

Sofascore gave him a score of 6.7 despite the goal as he failed to make an impression defensively.

He made one clearance in the game but was very poor in the air as he lost all eight of his aerial duels.

The youngster also failed to complete a ground duel or a tackle in the contest.

He had 30 touches of the ball but was poor on it, as he only completed 44% of his passes and gave the ball away a wasteful 16 times.

Nonetheless, he will be ecstatic to have bagged his first senior goal and also the large bank of minutes he is building up in his introduction to senior football.

Accrington and Aljofree will next be in action when they take on AFC Wimbeldon on Tuesday night.
