“Too good to be a back up”: United fear losing key squad member in the next transfer window – Sky Sports DE

Manchester United are reportedly braced to lose Altay Bayindir in “one of the next two transfer windows” as the club fears the goalkeeper is “simply too good to be a number two behind Andre Onana”.

Florian Plettenberg (Sky Sports Germany) reveals that while Old Trafford officials are “very satisfied” with the Turkish international a departure may happen sooner rather than later, given there are currently “no prospects of regular playing time”.

🚨🔴 At Manchester United, there is an expectation that Altay #Bayindir could leave the club in one of the next two transfer windows, as he is simply too good to be a number two behind André #Onana and currently has no prospects for regular playing time. #MUFC

Tweet: At Manchester United, there is an expectation that Altay #Bayindir could leave the club in one of the next two transfer windows, as he is simply too good to be a number two behind André #Onana and currently has no prospects for regular playing time.

#MUFC Internally, the club is very satisfied with him. Contract until 2027. Red Devils are in the market for a new third-choice goalkeeper or potentially both a new number two and three.”

Bayindir has rarely featured for United since his £4.3 million move from Fenerbahce last summer, given the form and availability of the club’s first-choice option, Andre Onana.

No goalkeeper in the Premier League has produced more clean sheets than Onana this season with six. The Cameroonian has consistently been the difference maker for United with a number of brilliant game-changing saves keeping his side in games.

And given the goalkeeping position is not one which requires rest or rotation, this has meant few opportunities for Bayindir to come into the team in Onana’s stead.

Plettenberg contends there is an “expectation” at Old Trafford that this lack of minutes will lead to Bayindir’s departure as the Turkish international seeks more first-team opportunities away from United.

Third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton signed a one-year extension in the summer but the Englishman turns 39 in April and is not a long-term option in the squad.

As such, the Sky Sports reporter reveals the club are “in the market” for an new goalkeeper with “potentially both a new number two and three” on the wish list, given Bayindir’s future is a doubt.

If Bayindir is to leave, United will expect to command a profit on the £4.3 million fee used to secure his services a year ago which can be used to fund his replacement.

Fabrizio Romano: United making “good progress” over new deal for standout star considered “key” by Amorim

      fabrizio-romano:-united-making-“good-progress”-over-new-deal-for-standout-star-considered-“key”-by-amorim

Fabrizio Romano has revealed Manchester United are making “good progress” over a new deal for Amad Diallo with the 22-year-old winger considered “key” by head coach Ruben Amorim.

Amad has been in fantastic form in an unfamiliar right wing-back role since Amorim’s appointment last month following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag on October 29.

The Sporting coach swapped Lisbon for Manchester during the November international break and has wasted no time in stamping his mark on his new team, implementing the trademark 3-4-3 system which brought him such success in Portugal.

One of the key areas for making this formation work is the wingback position, with Amorim often favouring the conversion of a winger, rather than pushing a fullback further forward.

Despite Amad’s diminutive stature, Amorim has recognised the Ivory Coast international’s potent pairing of technique and work rate make him an ideal candidate for the RWB role – with the 22-year-old immediately rewarding this faith.

Amad has returned three assists in his two starts since Amorim’s appointment, producing a brilliant run in the opening game against Ipswich Town for Marcus Rashford to convert from a cross, as well as two well-executed passes in the 4-0 demolition of Everton on Sunday following brilliant closing down of the opposition defence.

His general play has been excellent while his hard work on and, crucially in Amorim’s system, off the ball has been equally strong.

It’s no surprise therefore that Romano reveals Amad is considered “key for club and Amorim” with Old Trafford officials actively “working” on agreeing a new long-term deal.

🚨🔴 Understand Manchester United made good progress with Amad Diallo’s new contract in recent weeks!

United are working to get new long term deal done before the end of 2024… even before activating club clause to extend current deal until 2026.

Tweet: “Understand Manchester United made good progress with Amad Diallo’s new contract in recent weeks! United are working to get new long term deal done before the end of 2024… even before activating club clause to extend current deal until 2026. Amad, key for club and Amorim.”

Amad’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, though the club retains an automatic twelve month extension. However, there is a strong desire at Old Trafford to lock down the talented Ivorian to a well-deserved contract extension without this clause being activated.

Amad’s versatility – capable of playing the wingback position or as one of the attacking midfielders in a 3-4-3 – makes him a valuable asset for Amorim, while his comfortability on the ball and in possession paints him in stark contrast to many of United’s other attackers, who often struggle in tight spaces.

A new deal, therefore, constitutes one of the most important pieces of business at the club ahead of what will undoubtedly be a busy summer of recruitment next year.

Man Utd name price as Real Madrid eye Red Devils star as alternative to Liverpool defender

        man-utd-name-price-as-real-madrid-eye-red-devils-star-as-alternative-to-liverpool-defender

Man Utd have named their price for Diogo Dalot as Real Madrid consider him as an alternative to Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, according to reports.

The Red Devils had a terrible start to the new season under Erik ten Hag with the Dutchman sacked after just three wins in nine Premier League matches.

Ruud van Nistelrooy put another four points on the board as interim boss before Ruben Amorim took over earlier this month.

After an underwhelming 1-1 draw against Ipswich and 3-2 comeback win over Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League, Man Utd put on an impressive display to beat Everton 4-0 for Amorim’s first Premier League win as head coach.

That comfortable victory moved the Red Devils above Aston Villa, Newcastle and Fulham in the Premier League table with supporters given more belief their side can score more goals this season and keep clean sheets.

Dalot has been one of the players to come in for criticism so far this season, as most Man Utd players have, but now reports in Spain are claiming that Real Madrid want to sign the Red Devils right-back.

Spanish website Relevo claims that Real Madrid are ‘keeping a close eye on the Portuguese full-back’ as they look to sign a new right-back in the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Liverpool defender Alexander-Arnold in recent months ‘either immediately (very difficult) or in the summer, when his contract expires’.

But he ‘is not the only player that the white team is following to reinforce its right flank: they have also shown interest’ in Dalot at Man Utd and the Red Devils have told them that ‘to get the Portuguese player from Old Trafford they would have to start talking from 50 million euros’.

It is claimed that ‘contact with the player’s entourage was made while Erik Ten Hag was still in charge of the Red Devils’ dugout’ but ‘his importance seems to be growing even more’ with Amorim now in charge.

Real Madrid’s ‘main option’ is still Alexander-Arnold but ‘the possibility of reaching an agreement for his renewal no longer seems so remote and all parties involved have begun to look for alternatives to be prepared for any scenario’.

Speaking about Dalot, Amorim said last week: “He is very powerful. Sometimes we have to rotate him, because he always seems fresh, but that is not the case, he is not a machine! I think he plays better on the right, and we will manage to put him there, he is a very good player.

“He can play on both sides, and a player like that today is perfect. I expect the same Dalot as last year. He is a team player, you can see that in the way he plays.”

Long-term United attacking target “will not be” allowed to leave in January with CL giants plotting summer deal – report

          long-term-united-attacking-target-“will-not-be”-allowed-to-leave-in-january-with-cl-giants-plotting-summer-deal-–-report

Manchester United were struggling for goals under Erik ten Hag but have now scored eight times in three games under new coach Ruben Amorim.

Sunday’s 4-0 thrashing of Everton saw struggling forwards Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee net a brace apiece while the team displayed the intensity that the coach has been demanding since his arrival.

The Dutch striker now has three goals this season and hopefully, despite persistent links with a January exit, he can finally come good in red.

Amorim will hope all three of his strikers can deliver now that INEOS have already announced that not much in terms of transfer help will be available.

Gala will not allow Osimhen to leave

That means a move for reported target Victor Osimhen could be off the table after recent reports stated that United were eyeing an ambitious swap deal which would see Zirkzee move to Naples with Osimhen coming to Old Trafford.

Turkish Football have now claimed that the Nigerian will not be let go by Galatasaray in January and even if United were to return next season, the Turkish outfit are trying to buy him outright from Napoli in the summer.

The Napoli star has nine goals and five assists for Gala and they are in talks with sponsors to come up with a bid that will please the striker’s parent club.

“Sources have told Turkish-Football that the Lions will not let Osimhen leave in January. The Nigeria international will not be joining United and Galatasaray do have the final say on the matter.

Summer move could also be off the cards

“United had considered including young forward Zirkzee in a potential deal to acquire Osimhen from Napoli. However, with Osimhen’s preference for Galatasaray, this move seems unlikely to materialize.

“Galatasaray are now focused on making Osimhen’s transfer permanent and are working with their sponsors to secure the necessary funds. The Turkish club is determined to keep hold of the talented striker and build their team around him.”

A future move for Osimhen will depend on the form of United’s current options and if they start firing, a pursuit will make very little sense.

Amorim already has his eyes on former Sporting Lisbon protege Viktor Gyokeres and should a striker be required, the Swede is likely to be the club’s primary target.

Ruben Amorim says Leny Yoro is finally set to be part of Wednesday’s matchday squad vs. Arsenal

            ruben-amorim-says-leny-yoro-is-finally-set-to-be-part-of-wednesday’s-matchday-squad-vs.-arsenal

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has revealed that summer signing Leny Yoro is in contention to be in the matchday squad vs. Arsenal.

United will travel to the capital on Wednesday to take on Mikel Arteta’s title-chasing Arsenal.

Yoro has been sidelined for four months since he picked up a metatarsal injury in pre-season, that required him to be subjected to an operation.

Over the past few weeks, Yoro has been training with his teammates but the defender has not been included in any matchday squad.

It now seems like the teenager’s wait to make his competitive debut for the Red Devils is finally set to come to an end. Ahead of the meeting with Arsenal, Amorim spoke to reporters and said about Yoro, “We have one more training session to see it. Maybe Leny Yoro is going to be in the squad.”

“I feel he is in a good moment now, his fitness is better, so I think he is going to be in the squad. The others we have to see, some players are tired and we have to assess tomorrow in training.”

“I think he’s a special talent, you have to be careful in this first moment because we didn’t have too many trainings together, he is training not alone, but with a small group of players.”

“He is really fast, he is a modern defender and that is good when you want to press high and you leave a lot of strikers, especially in this league one against one, I think he can manage that. He is very good with the ball, so I’m really excited.”

“I have to be careful. We have to manage the load and the minutes in the beginning but I am really excited to see Leny Yoro play.”

Bruno Fernandes was taken off in the second half, during United’s 4-0 victory over Everton on Sunday. The Portugal international was spotted with an ice pack wrapped around his ankle. This sparked concerns that he may have got hurt but Amorim has alleviated any such worries.

“Now he’s fit to play. I see him already this morning. He’s fit to play, he’s a guy that doesn’t need a lot of rest, you know him, so he is prepared to play.”

On facing Arsenal, Amorim remarked, “It’s the best team that we faced by far (so far). But the test is every game. If you see the last game yesterday was really tough. Was 4-0 but you see the game like I see it, so everything now is a test without so many minutes to train. Trying to manage the number of minutes for a lot players who cannot manage more than one game.”

“Some players have to be out of the pitch 60 minutes, 70 minutes, it’s really hard in this moment, everything is a test. Arsenal, for me, are in a different point of their team, they are in a different moment.”

On why the press conference was unusually held at Old Trafford, Amorim replied, “We have a meeting with all the staff trying to connect everyone, the sports part here are far from Carrington. We are trying to build a connection between Carrington and Old Trafford.”

“This is something you cannot buy, the pedigree, the size of the club, we have to use it. It is a key point for us. Also improving the youth teams and creating a connection between every part to put his club in the place it needs to be.”

Amorim gave his verdict on the fact that United fans have already coined a chant for him.

“I don’t like my chant! I feel a bit embarrassed because I’m a coach! I understand and I really appreciate the connection with the supporters, but I want them to support the team and the players, because they are on the pitch and I’m outside of it but I am really honoured about that.”

“I feel the connection with the supporters but we know that we need the results to maintain that.”

Arsenal vs. United kicks off at 20:15 BST.

United want to transform attack with sensational raid for Serie A’s next superstar – Sky Sports DE

Manchester United have set their sights on Juventus starlet Kenan Yildiz as one of their “top names” for the attacking midfield position next summer, though the 19-year-old will be difficult to prise away from the Serie A club.

Florian Plettenberg (Sky Sports Germany) reveals the Red Devils are “impressed by [Yildiz’s] development” with the Old Lady and are continuing to “monitor the 19-year-old closely” ahead of next year’s transfer window.

🚨🔴 Excl | Kenan #Yildiz is one of the top names on Manchester United’s shortlist for the attacking midfield position. Tweet: “Kenan #Yildiz is one of the top names on Manchester United’s shortlist for the attacking midfield position. The club is impressed by his development and continues to monitor the 19 y/o closely.

#MUFC are keeping an eye on this position for the summer. However, we’re told that Yildiz has no plans to leave Juventus. He feels very comfortable at the club, is a fan favourite, and intends to stay with #Juve next summer. His contract runs until 2029.”

The Sky Sports reporter describes Yildiz as one of the “top names on Manchester United’s shortlist for the attacking midfield position” – an area of the team the club are “keeping an eye on for the summer.”

The 19-year-old Turkish international has scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists in 14 league games this season, having firmly established himself as a key starter in Thiago Motta’s 4-2-3-1 system with Juventus.

Often deployed on the left of the attacking midfield unit behind the number nine, Yildiz is a technically gifted footballer who can play anywhere along the front line.

Ruben Amorim has wasted no time in implementing his trademark 3-4-3 formation since arriving at Old Trafford as the club’s new head coach last month. And in a report relayed by The Peoples Person, the 39-year-old has identified the need for a new attacking midfielder to buttress this new three-man attack.

Yildiz appears tailor made for the left attacking-midfield role, with United lacking options capable of playing in tight spaces and using their dribbling skills to help unlock defences. Bruno Fernandes is prone to dropping deeper while Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford are more better running in behind the backline than playing in between lines.

However, Plettenberg reveals Yildiz has “no plans to leave Juventus” and “intends to stay” in Turin beyond this season. The 19-year-old is “very comfortable” in Turin and is described as a “fan favourite”.

This makes the prospect of convincing the talented youngster to swap Italy for England a remote one. But INEOS, who gained full control over the football operation at Old Trafford in February, have shown a willingness to pursue elite talents, even when a deal seems improbable.

The pursuit of 18-year-old defender Leny Yoro from Lille in the summer, with sources in France considering a move to Real Madrid a certainty, demonstrated United will go all out if the recruitment department considers the player an unmissable target; and succeed in doing so.

While Plettenberg’s report suggests it will be difficult for the Red Devils to repeat this trick next summer, it certainly cannot be ruled out if INEOS have set their sights on Yildiz as a key part of Amorim’s rebuild at the club moving forward.

“Firmly on the agenda”: Amorim “will hold talks” with United’s newest hero over brand-new deal – Telegraph

Ruben Amorim’s first Premier League win since taking charge arrived on his home league debut as Manchester United thrashed Everton 4-0 on Sunday.

Struggling forwards Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee both grabbed a brace apiece but what will have pleased the Portuguese the most is the intensity shown by his players.

Amad Diallo’s drive and industry forced the Toffees into two mistakes, one in each half, from which the hosts capitalised with the Ivorian grabbing two assists as well.

Unfairly overlooked by former boss Erik ten Hag, the 22-year-old has come into his own since the Dutchman’s departure and now has two goals and four assists since.

Amorim wants a new deal for Amad

Amorim was quick to praise former interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy for his part in helping the former Atalanta star improve his confidence after Sunday’s game.

The ex-Sporting Lisbon boss has been very impressed with Amad’s heroics and is desperate to keep a hold of him with his current United deal ending next summer.

The club have the option of triggering a one-year extension before January 1, but Amorim wants the club to focus on handing the Ivory Coast international a new lucrative deal before then as per The Telegraph.

“Ruben Amorim will hold talks over Amad Diallo’s future at Manchester United as the winger approaches the final six months of his contract.

United working to agree new contract

“Amad has featured in all three of Amorim’s matches since his appointment as United head coach and the 22-year-old appears to have a bright future in the 3-4-3 system the Portuguese wants to use.

“United sources say Amad’s contract is firmly on the agenda in the next weeks, with his future in sharp focus after starting both of Amorim’s Premier League games so far and drawing praise from his manager.”

As relayed by The Peoples Person before, the new head coach does have a say in contract negotiations and he gave the green light for a new deal after Amad’s impressive start under him.

With Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez out and Bruno Fernandes a major injury doubt, the boss will be heavily reliant on Amad to produce the goods against Arsenal come Wednesday.

Man Utd stars spotted doing something they haven’t done in ‘two seasons’; Red Devils ‘could receive millions’

                  man-utd-stars-spotted-doing-something-they-haven’t-done-in-‘two-seasons’;-red-devils-‘could-receive-millions’

Players at Man Utd were seen “smiling” for the first time “in what felt like two seasons”, according to a talkSPORT pundit.

The Red Devils beat Everton 4-0 on Sunday to launch themselves up to ninth in the Premier League table after Ruben Amorim recorded his first league win as the new Man Utd head coach.

Amorim’s side drew 1-1 against Ipswich Town in his first match in charge just over a week ago before guiding them to a 3-2 comeback win over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League in midweek.

The Portuguese coach now has his feet under the table at Old Trafford and supporters and players are now looking ahead with exciting Premier League matches against Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Man City coming up in the next couple of weeks.

And talkSPORT host Sam Ellard has noticed a change under Amorim already but, rather than their style of play or philosophy, he noticed a “small” change in their demeanour.

Ellard said on talkSPORT: “I just saw there at the end of the game, something really small, but they went round the pitch, and they started clapping the fans, and they almost did a little bit of a lap, and the players were smiling.

“And I watched that, and I just thought, that’s the first time I’ve seen some of these lads smile in what felt like two seasons.”

Amorim will also be hoping to bring in some of his own players in the January transfer window with Man Utd potentially needing new recruits to fit the Portuguese boss’ system.

And now TBR Football claim that they could be in luck in 2025 with speculation that Mason Greenwood could secure a move away from Marseille to either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Man Utd secured a big sell-on fee when they sold Greenwood to Marseille over the summer and the Red Devils ‘could receive millions’ next year from a sale.

                  TBR Football add:

‘Clearly, Ratcliffe wants to create some financial wriggle-room at Manchester United, potentially to ensure he can help Ruben Amorim build a competitive squad without upsetting the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

‘In 2025 – however – TBR Football understand Manchester United could receive millions without doing anything, due to Mason Greenwood.

‘Sources have now informed TBR Football that Barcelona and Real Madrid are closely monitoring the Marseille No.10 after his excellent start to life in France.’

                  The report continued:

‘TBR Football understand the Spanish trio were initially impressed by the 23-year-old’s efforts at Getafe, where he scored ten goals and assisted a further six in 36 appearances, and their admiration remains.’

‘There is yet to be a concrete, definitive figure stated in the media in regards to the value of Manchester United’s sell-on clause for Greenwood.

‘However, TBR Football understand it is worth around 50% – which could secure INEOS a small fortune and alleviate the need for Ratcliffe to undergo any further cost cutting procedures.

‘It could also help Amorim, who has transformed warm-ups at Manchester United, bring in some of his own players.

‘If Greenwood maintains his impressive form, he could well be worth £50m next summer, which – if a move materialised for that amount – would net Manchester United roughly £25m, to provide an example of just how lucrative that clause could prove to be in the coming months.’

Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim has been told that signing Benfica defender Tomas Araujo makes more sense than Goncalo Inacio, according to a Portuguese journalist.

The Red Devils have made a good start under new boss Amorim with the Portuguese head coach getting four points from two Premier League matches against Ipswich Town and Everton, and securing a 3-2 comeback win versus Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League in midweek.

A 4-0 win over Everton on Sunday showed that there are goals in the team despite only seven sides scoring fewer than Man Utd in the Premier League this term.

Their backline has actually been solid with only Premier League leaders Liverpool conceding fewer goals than Man Utd this season.

However, they are still being linked with numerous defenders as Amorim looks to improve their backline after changing their formation to a 3-4-3.

Man Utd, Liverpool and other Premier League clubs have been linked to Sporting CP centre-back Inacio over the last 12 months or so but Portuguese journalist Rafael Soares insists a move for Benfica’s Araujo “makes more sense”.

Speaking on Record na Hora, Soares said of Araujo being an ideal fit for Man Utd: “I even think it makes more sense, because they are two central defenders who have the talent to leave Portugal.

“But looking at what Ruben Amorim has done and the options he has had, for example, Goncalo Inacio is a central defender playing on the left and there he has Lisandro Martinez, who seems to be a certainty in United’s 11.

“In the case of Tomas Araujo, and I’m very curious to see him in a three-central system, something that doesn’t happen at Benfica, due to all the quality he has on the ball, in addition to what he’s grown defensively. I think he could very well fit in in a system of three Ruben Amorim plants.”

Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush, who has scored 17 goals in 19 matches in all competitions so far this season, is another player who has attracted attention of both Man Utd and Liverpool in recent months.

And now Caught Offside claim that Man Utd have ‘opened talks’ over a possible move for Marmoush in January with the Red Devils making ‘first contacts over the potential transfer’.

Man Utd scored four goals against Everton at the weekend to reduce worries about their forward line with Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford scoring a brace each.

Manchester United have stolen a march on bitter rivals Liverpool by opening talks for red-hot Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush, according to reports.

As per CaughtOffside, United “have reportedly had first contacts over the potential transfer” of the Egyptian forward, who has bagged 17 goals and assisted 11 times in 19 matches in all competitions this season.

The article doesn’t credit a source for this claim, but observes that it “makes sense” for top clubs like United to be pursuing the 25-year-old.

The Old Trafford side have already been linked with Marmoush but are far from alone in their interest.

Liverpool were thought to be closest, so United establishing contact ahead of Arne Slot’s outfit would be particularly sweet.

Mohamed Salah’s contract expires in the summer, and Marmoush is a strong contender to take his fellow Egyptian’s place as a talismanic frontman at Anfield – he has even been dubbed the “new Mohamed Salah”.

Just like Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford, the Bundesliga hitman marked 1 December with a brace in a 4-0 victory, but unlike them he has failed to score in just three league matches this term.

Marmoush turned in a man of the match performance and picked up a sofascore rating of 9.1 against FC Heidenheim to keep Frankfurt second in the table.

Another noteworthy comparison is that the Egyptian’s goal tally in all competitions is the same as the entire United squad have managed in the Premier League.

It was only yesterday’s emphatic win over Everton that drew Ruben Amorim’s squad level with the Frankfurt hitman, so it is little wonder that the Portuguese manager is desperate for forward reinforcements in January.

Marmoush is currently in the form of his life and has already matched his goal total from last season, which was his first in Frankfurt.

He took to the field five times with Donny van de Beek, who was on loan at the Waldstadion from United before departing for Girona in the summer.
