Manchester United are keeping tabs on young Italian striker Francesco Pio Esposito.

The Red Devils have made youth recruitment a key priority lately and have brought some exciting names to the team.

Leny Yoro, Sekou Kone and Chido Obi were all signed last season and 17 year old Diego Leon is on the cusp of officially joining.

United also have numerous exciting attacking options in the academy system such as Gabriele Biancheri.

Nonetheless, the club are always on the lookout for more talent and Calciomercato claim that the Red Devils have their eyes on another young gem.

“Francesco Pio Esposito, born in 2005, has put in extraordinary performances with Spezia this season, in addition to almost always prolific appearances with the Under 21s.”

Inter Milan own the rights to the player but he decided to stay on loan at Spezia this season and that is “a choice that is paying off, as his repertoire is extraordinary.”

His fine form has attracted interest from abroad and “there are the eyes of two clubs that have followed him and will continue to monitor him. These are Manchester United and Leicester”, who are expected to follow up their interest in the near future.

The 19 year old has taken Serie B by storm, scoring nine goals and providing one assist in 18 matches in the current campaign.

He has “rapidly emerged as one of Italy’s most promising young footballers, establishing himself as a future star at Inter Milan.”

“Esposito’s blend of technical skills, tactical intelligence, and physical attributes sets him apart from his peers”.

The forward is seen as an ideal modern striker with his height, high pressing, ball control and finishing ability.

United are also reportedly keeping tabs on fellow teenage striker Stefanos Tzimas who plies his trade at PAOK Thessaloniki but is currently on loan at Nuremberg.

Man Utd star sues club over ‘unlawful’ unpaid wages with ‘money from salary withheld’; verdict imminent

A new report has revealed that Manchester United winger Antony has sued former club Ajax, who are accused of “withholding” a portion of his salary.

The Brazil international was made Man Utd‘s top target during the 2022 summer transfer window as head coach Erik ten Hag was keen for a reunion after they worked together at Ajax.

This proved a prolonged saga as Ajax refused to budge on their asking price and Man Utd eventually caved, paying an initial £86m to sign Antony on deadline day.

The Red Devils had their pants pulled down by Ajax as Antony has been a massive flop, grabbing just 12 goals and five assists in his 94 appearances for the Premier League giants.

Antony – who has not made a single Premier League start this season – is not part of Ruben Amorim’s plans and Man Utd are trying to secure him a move elsewhere with a loan deal a possibility.

It seems Antony is not fully focused on his football as a report in the Netherlands claims he has sued Ajax over ‘unlawful’ unpaid wages and has taken his former club to court.

It is noted that this case has been heard this week and a verdict is expected within the next four weeks with Antony demanding ‘a few hundred thousand euros’.

Responding to this story, Dutch pundit Jack van Gelder claims Ajax “withheld money from his salary” before he secured his move to Man Utd.

“Antony wants some money,” Van Gelder said.

“He played for Ajax and was at one point in the interest of Manchester United. That involved a lot of money.

“Ajax wanted a certain amount, and Manchester United initially didn’t want to pay that. It lasted and lasted. Antony then dug in his heels and became ill, weak and nauseous.

“Ajax then withheld money from his salary. Ultimately, he went there for a record amount of €100m.

“He has trained very well so far and played six times and achieved nothing. But hey, that can happen. The case was heard on Monday and a decision will be made soon.”

Earlier this month, ex-United star Lee Sharpe encouraged his former club to “get Antony off the wage bill”.

“Antony’s been very disappointing for Manchester United since day one,” Sharpe said.

“We’ve seen flashes of his ability, but nothing ever consistent to what he was showing at Ajax. When you consider the formation that Ruben Amorim will be playing, I think he will struggle to get a game.

“For me, if United can get a half decent price in January and get him off the wage bill, that would allow Amorim to buy one or two other players that would suit the system well.”

Huge Juventus-Barcelona deal likely to pave the way for Rashford’s dream move to Spain – report

FC Barcelona’s chances of signing Marcus Rashford appear to be increasing as Juventus are very keen to sign the Catalan club’s defender Ronald Araujo.

The Red Devils are eager to shift Rashford out on loan as he clearly is no longer a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans, having failed to play a game at the club since the 12th of December against Viktoria Plzen.

A plethora of clubs are tracking Rashford but one team who have emerged as big contenders are Barcelona and one trump card the European giants could hold is that Rashford reportedly favours a move to Spain.

As a result, Barcelona are currently trying to explore a way to sign Rashford amidst their own financial problems and are currently attempting to release the €6.5 million from their “salary spend” to allow a deal to occur.

Moreover, owing to complex Spanish financial restrictions, Barcelona must comply to the 1:1 rule, which means a player must leave before they can sign another one.

A deal for Rashford could accelerate soon however as Juventus are hot on the trail of Araujo according to Calciomercato.

The Italian outlet states, “Juventus are betting everything on Araujo: the Barcelona centre-back is well ahead of the other names, who even today have not found easier outlets, or in any case a less blocked road to Turin.”

Crucially, Juve already have “the player’s will to leave” and the club are ready to “welcome him as soon as possible.”

The obstacle is that Barcelona have not agreed to a departure yet as “at the moment, the costs of the loan, nor of the right of redemption have not been discussed: the crux is precisely here, because Barcelona’s request risks being much higher than expected, with a total figure ready to touch the 40 million euro mark, including the first instalment to bring him to Turin as soon as possible.”

Therefore, time and patience may be needed to do a deal but this might accelerate soon as Barcelona have numerous competitors for Rashford, namely AC Milan.

Nonetheless, it is noted that a deal “will proceed more quickly” after Sunday’s Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia is over, where Barcelona will play their great rivals Real Madrid.

It is stated that compromise is needed but with Juventus’ urgency to boost their defence and Barcelona’s desire to raise funds for Rashford, there is optimism a deal can be struck in the coming weeks.

Impressive United loanee ready to shock Liverpool in big lunchtime FA Cup tie

Manchester United youngster Sonny Aljofree has spoken of his desire to beat Liverpool this weekend in the FA Cup.

The United academy product has been on loan at Accrington Stanley this season and he has made himself a key member of the starting lineup, playing 16 games in all competitions while scoring his first two senior goals.

He will be desperate to be in the starting lineup when his side travel to Anfield later today in the FA Cup third round aiming for a massive giant killing.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News ahead of the tie he revealed his excitement when watching the cup draw with his family.

“I was sat in the kitchen, having my tea with my family and I saw Liverpool come up and I had just a funny feeling. I was like, ‘I can’t play against United at Old Trafford, so the next best thing will probably be Liverpool here’.

“I said to my mum, ‘This is gonna be us here’. Obviously, it came up and all of us have just gone off and started cheering.”

Speaking on the prospect of facing the Premier League leaders he commented, “it’s another chance to learn and gain valuable experience. I think everyone’s up for it, and I definitely am because as a United fan, you want to beat them, so that’s what we’re going there to do, hopefully.”

The 20 year old then spoke about his preparation for the game, which included carefully studying United’s backline against Liverpool last weekend in the first team’s 2-2 draw.

“United are playing a similar formation to what we play, so I was putting myself in the shoes of Yoro and De Ligt and the defenders, of what I’d be doing and picking up the little things that Liverpool do when they win the ball back or lose the ball and making sure I’m kind of manifesting what I’m going to be doing in that situation.”

Aljofree also pinpointed some of the key differences between academy football and senior football by claiming game management was much more relevant in the Football League due to every point mattering.

He also believes that League Two has made him a more flexible player as all the stadiums, atmospheres, teams and playing styles all differ greatly in comparison to the Premier League 2.

The youngster also highlighted the physical nature of the league but that he is finding ways to deal with it.

“Also, being able to deal with bigger players, more stronger players than me but still finding a way to win a duel and get the better of my opponent, even though I might be physically underdeveloped compared to them at the minute. But I think the positive thing is I’m finding the ways to deal with these types of players and I’ve only got more to come physically as well as game understanding.”

Finally the youngster was also very complimentary of the support he has received from the club since being out on loan and that they have been in constant contact with him offering him advice and helping to smooth the transition of being away from Old Trafford.

Aljofree and Accrington Stanley will be hoping for one of the greatest FA Cup shocks when they take on Liverpool at Anfield at 12.15 UK time this afternoon.

“One of those games…” Skinner drops big hint about team selection as United Women begin cup defence

Manchester United Women’s boss Marc Skinner has claimed his side will aim to put in a strong defence of their FA Cup title.

United were victorious in May last year, comfortably beating Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in the final to win the Women team’s first ever piece of major silverware.

The Red Devils will begin their defence of their crown at home to West Bromwich Albion later today, where they will hope to go on a long run in this year’s edition of the tournament too.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference Skinner stated, “we are the holders of this cup and we want to continue that.”

“We know it’ll be a difficult task to get to the final again but we start with West Brom [on Saturday]. It’s going to be a good game, it’s the joys and trials and tribulations of an FA Cup, so I’m sure that they’ll enjoy the moment.”

He also claimed that the biggest respect that his side can pay his opponents is that they will be laser-focused to get the job done and move onto the next round of the cup.

Skinner then stated that he knows a few of the West Brom players well from when he used to train them.

“A long time ago, I used to coach some of their players as kids at Birmingham. We know a lot about them.”

The boss noted that United must not be complacent as the National League North team, which is the third division of women’s football, will be well up to the task of dethroning the champions.

“It’s one of those games where they’ll raise their game 20-30 percent, to the best of their performance but the reality is that we have to suffocate that and we have to be in a position for our football to do the talking.”

With the disparity in league position, many would assume Skinner would take the chance to rest some key players ahead of a busy January of action but the manager states he will take a different approach and play a strong first eleven to get his side ready after the winter break.

“It’s the first game of this part of the season for us, so we have to get players minutes before we go into a three-game week which is next week.”

United will take on West Brom later this evening with their match kicking off at 17:15 UK time.

“Serious option”: World-class instant Rashford replacement available for knockdown £20m this month – report

Manchester United have learnt that target Leroy Sane could be available for as little as £20-25 million this month.

The German winger has been linked to a move away from Bayern Munich as he is still yet to agree a new deal at the Bavarian club with his contract expiring in June this year.

It has been reported that the Germans are still trying to convince the player to stay but are also open to the fact that they may need to sell him so he doesn’t walk for free.

It has also been rumoured that United are a serious option for the winger and have already made enquiries about signing the player.

United do face intense competition from local rivals Manchester City and Liverpool however, and it has now been reported by Football Insider that the English giants now know the price that they must pay.

“Bayern Munich could accept offers of £20-25million for Man City target Leroy Sane if he does not sign a new deal,” the outlet’s sources claim.

“The 29-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract in Bavaria and can now agree a pre-contract elsewhere.”

To avoid this scenario, the Bundesliga leaders have now placed an attractive price on his head to raise some money from his sale.

Chelsea are also said to be in the mix for the former Premier League star.

Sane has scored five goals and provided one assist in 19 matches in this campaign under Vincent Kompany.

Nonetheless, Premier League teams will be well aware of what the German international can do when at his destructive best as he scored 39 goals in 135 matches at City over the course of four seasons in England.

With the likely departure of Marcus Rashford this winter, United would certainly need some sort of signing to replace him and Sane would provide ready-made Premier League experience and understanding of the league.

Rashford to Barcelona, Garnacho exits: 11 Man Utd players to flog for Amorim rebuild in ‘keep or sell’

Manchester United have gone from having three untouchable players to zero and they need to make a sale or two if Ruben Amorim is to improve his squad this month.

It’s time to revisit our Red Devils keep or sell from last June and see what has changed.

                  Andre Onana: Keep
Onana is still capable of some dodgy moments but replacing their No. 1 goalkeeper is the least of Man Utd’s worries right now.

                  Altay Bayindir: Sell
Every top club wants a decent back-up goalkeeper but Bayindir is rarely called upon and is wasting his career at Old Trafford.

                  Tom Heaton: Keep
What would be the point in selling him?

                  Diogo Dalot: Keep
Dalot has been more shaky than expected as a wing-back in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 but we rate him pretty highly. Our stance might change over time if Amorim signs Nuno Mendes or someone else to play left-wing-back.

It’s worth noting that we recommended keeping Aaron Wan-Bissaka, which Man Utd most certainly did not do. He might have been a solid option at right-centre-back. I guess we’ll never know.

                  Noussair Mazraoui: Keep
Mazraoui has been Man Utd’s signing of the season by a long way and he was the cheapest of the lot.

                  Victor Lindelof: Sell
Depth at centre-back is important considering Amorim wants three of them on the pitch but Lindelof is injury prone, not good enough and out of contract in the summer. If Man Utd can get a fee for him this month, they will have done very well.

                  Matthijs de Ligt: Keep
There is only one summer signing the Red Devils should consider selling or loaning and De Ligt is not one of them, even if he was Liverpool’s player of the match last weekend.

                  Harry Maguire: Keep
Maguire in the middle of a back three is the best version of Maguire. He can be very useful under Amorim.

                  Jonny Evans: Keep
Like with Heaton, what would be the point in trying to flog a 37-year-old Evans?

                  Leny Yoro: Keep
Many in the game believe French teenager Yoro is destined to become one of the best centre-backs in world football. Man Utd were chuffed to beat Real Madrid to his signature but we all know who the player’s first choice was and the Premier League club had to fork out £50m because they knew he would go to Spain for nothing next year if they didn’t.

                  Lisandro Martinez: Keep
Martinez might be the best finisher at the club because what the f**k was that at Anfield? He could teach Rasmus Hojlund a thing or two.

                  Luke Shaw: Sell
Man Utd are at their wit’s end with Shaw, who can’t seem to string together three consecutive appearances at the age of 29.

His injury problems are becoming far too persistent and it’s about time the club cut ties. Shaw could be one of the best defenders in Europe if he wasn’t injury prone, but he is and that is proving to be really quite annoying.

                  Tyrell Malacia: Sell
It’s clearly time for a reset on the left. Malacia is not good enough to start for Man Utd but is a handy back-up, which should not match his ambitions.

                  Manuel Ugarte: Keep
Ugarte’s start has been pretty slow but there have been some very promising performances since his summer transfer from PSG. It’s important to remember that he is only 23.

                  Casemiro: Sell
This is the biggest no-brainer in the entire squad. Man Utd have been praying for Saudi Arabia to rescue them from Casemiro’s colossal contract and this should finally be the transfer window for them, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr keen on signing the Brazilian.

                  Kobbie Mainoo: Keep
Mainoo inspired us to revisit this particular idea as there have been reports of Sir Jim Ratcliffe becoming open to offers for every single player. Mainoo, Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho were deemed ‘untouchable’ last March but not anymore.

An Old Trafford exit is very unlikely for the academy graduate, who is someone Amorim should build around. He needs a new contract first, though.

Give the boy some first-team experience, will ya?

                  Christian Eriksen: Sell
Eriksen is another out of contract at the end of the season and Man Utd would do well to get a fee for him in January, but there is no harm in trying.

                  Mason Mount: Sell
But to who? Injuries have been the story of Mount’s Man Utd career. He just can’t stay fit, which is an incredible shame, because he is a fantastic player capable of playing anywhere in midfield and off the striker.

                  Bruno Fernandes: Keep
Finding a place in his team for club captain Fernandes should be as much of a priority for Amorim as new signings. He is the only world-class player in this Man Utd squad and needs to find his groove, just as he did under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

                  Antony: Sell
Not good enough and the sooner he is sold the quicker people will forget he cost £80million.

                  Amad Diallo: Keep
Amad just signed a new contract and has been the best attacking player under Amorim.

                  Marcus Rashford: Sell
Player and club are on the same page and plenty of managers seem interested in being the one to resurrect Rashford’s career. Where will he end up, though?

PSG, Milan, Dortmund, Napoli, Barcelona, Juventus and Monaco have all been linked this week and Barca surprisingly seem the most likely destination, though it will only happen if Ronald Araujo is sold to Juve.

Amorim is either not a fan of Rashford as a player or a person or has been told he has no future by Sir Jim Ratcliffe or one of his minions. The Man Utd co-owner wants rid of his huge £325,000-a-week salary and you can’t blame him. Rashford’s performances over the last 18 months make him one of the most overpaid people in the world.

Rashford staying and getting his career back on track to become a club legend is a lovely thought but it will not develop into anything more than just that.

                  Alejandro Garnacho: Sell
Perhaps the only controversial shout here. It is definitely the most controversial anyway. Garnacho’s form this season has been rubbish and if we are being very critical, he had a decent second half to last season, which has prompted Man Utd fans to overrate him and ultimately set him up to disappoint and go from the next big thing to another underperforming loser.

As a homegrown player, Garnacho can be sold for pure profit, which is gold dust nowadays with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules striking fear into everyone. He came from Atletico Madrid, who reportedly want him back, and if they come in with a tempting offer, we think the Red Devils should take it. He isn’t actually that good, is he? Not as valuable as Mainoo, Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund anyway.

                  Rasmus Hojlund: Keep
Hojlund has been nowhere near good enough since joining Man Utd for a ridiculously large fee from Atalanta in the summer of 2023, but we sympathise with him. He was screwed over by the lack of depth last season and wasn’t really given any time to adapt to the Premier League, which was evident in his performances in the first half of last campaign.

You might say a £60m signing should not be allowed that long to adapt but not even Man Utd are naive enough to expect a guy with nine Serie A goals in 2022/23 to be the immediate answer to their problems. In the end, a goal every three matches in the Premier League was a decent return all things considered.

Hojlund probably should have kicked on more this term and his goalscoring numbers have again been rescued by a stellar showing in Europe, but we have faith and can’t see any positives from actively looking to sell him.

                  Joshua Zirkzee: Sell
Is our stance on Zirkzee ironic considering how we just defended Hojlund? You could say that, but you could see there was something in Hojlund last year and the pressure was greater; we have seen nothing from Zirkzee besides a tidy goal on his debut. His best position is unclear and he doesn’t strike us as a Premier League footballer.

United’s 17 year old keeper makes waves with two goals at tournament in Germany

Manchester United u19s got off to a good start at the Rewe Junior Cup on Friday night winning their opening two fixtures.

The United group led by Adam Lawrence took on local amateur club JFV Eichsfeld in their opening match.

As expected, United took an early lead through Albert Mills before Jim Thwaites expertly laid off to Dante Plunkett to score United’s second of the match.

United keeper Cameron Byrne-Hughes then added his name to the scoresheet when his lofted ball towards Louie Bradbury in the box was completely missed and bounced into the back of the net.

Bradbury made no mistake shortly after though with a bullet of a shot into the left corner. Thwaites and Jaydan Kamason then netted before Bradbury rounded off the scoring with his second to finish the match 7-0 to United.

United’s second match of the night proved a tougher test up against Hamburger SV.

Byrne-Hughes’ ability with the ball at his feet allowed United’s players to get high up the pitch and pin HSV back into their half. The United keeper was afforded so much space that he walked up the pitch past the halfway line before smashing a shot into the bottom left corner for his second goal in two matches.

The 17 year old is no stranger to using the ball with his feet, having famously made his u18s debut for the club on the left wing last season after a couple of injuries left United down a man with no other options on the bench.

HSV instantly responded after Byrne-Hughes goal though, with a good finish from a tight angle to make it 1-1.

Thwaites finished off a rebound after Kamason’s effort was saved to make it 2-1 before Jariyah Shah provided United’s third after pouncing on a mistake by HSV’s player-keeper to tap into an open net.

The German side were deploying an extra outfielder at the time in place of their keeper, a method United have used in previous years but haven’t used yet this year due to Byrne-Hughes’ ability on the ball.

HSV pulled one back but Byrne-Hughes then picked out Bradbury in the corner to take on his man and fire past the keeper to make it 4-2.

A classic indoor football goal pulled HSV back within one when they struck the ball off the boards and ricocheted off of Byrne-Hughes’ back and into the goal.

United’s captain Kamason finished off the match though with a nice spin to open up the space and make it a 5-3 win.

United now meet SV Rhume-Oder, JSV West Göttingen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and 1. SC 1911 Heiligenstadt today to round out the group stage.

                    United squad: 1 Byrne-Hughes, 2 Kamason (C), 3 Mills, 4 Helafu, 5 Plunkett, 6 McCormack, 7 Brown, 8 Shah, 9 Bradbury, 10 Thwaites

Serie A side emerge as surprise suitors for Ten Hag favourite, ready to go all out to secure January deal – report

Manchester United are desperate to move players on this January so as to raise capital to steer clear of breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules while using that money to try and bring in reinforcements for coach Ruben Amorim.

Due to the Red Devils being in 13th position in the Premier League, almost the whole squad has been put up for sale including plenty of big-name stars.

Marcus Rashford was one of them, with the Mancunian attracting plenty of interest from Italy with new boys Como FC emerging as surprise suitors.

However, the Englishman has turned down a move to join Cesc Fabregas’ side with AC Milan and Barcelona currently leading the race.

                      Como now want Malacia

But Como are not done yet with journalist Alfredo Pedulla now revealing that the Italian big-spenders are eyeing Rashford’s teammate and good friend, Tyrell Malacia this January.

“Como does not stop, absolutely unleashed on the market. There is a new target for the left flank, it is Tyrell Malacia, left back born in 1999 owned by Manchester United.

“The Red Devils had purchased him in the summer of 2022 from Feyenoord for around 15 million: there are other suitors for Malacia, but Como is working on it to give a new pawn to Fabregas.”

The Dutchman, who became former manager Erik ten Hag’s first signing at the club, has struggled for form since his return from long-term injury.

The 25-year-old has started four times under Amorim, not lasting more than 60 minutes while being substituted at half-time in three of those games.

Malacia has struggled since returning from injury

It is clear that the former Feyenoord star needs more time to return to his best with Malacia currently looking like he has lost more than a yard of pace while also struggling fitness-wise, a natural repercussion of a knee injury that kept him out of action for over a season.

But Amorim cannot afford the luxury of time given United’s current predicament and he has asked for reinforcements at left wingback, having been forced to play Diogo Dalot in that position despite his preference for the right flank.

The report does not make clear whether Como will acquire the Netherlands international on a permanent basis or on loan. Nor does it reveal their bid amount.

There is also interest in the defender from fellow Serie A side Juventus as well as Germany, and France and it will be intriguing to see if Malacia actually makes way this winter window.
