INEOS prefer £55m PL sensation over red-hot French striker as United eye January replacement for Garnacho – report

Manchester United are worried about breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, which is why they are looking at moving on academy graduates as their sales constitute pure profit.

While Marcus Rashford seems the most obvious candidate with the Mancunian having already expressed his desire to leave, not too many clubs have come forward for his signature.

Which has meant INEOS are open to moving on Alejandro Garnacho this window, despite the Argentine being classified as untouchable not too long ago.

While Napoli were the first to start the bidding, recent reports have suggested that Chelsea are in pole position with the academy graduate open to leaving, having grown disillusioned since Ruben Amorim came in.

    Garnacho to Chelsea links grow

Should the 20-year-old leave, the Red Devils will need to find a quality alternative with CaughtOffside claiming Tyler Dibing of Southampton is seen as the perfect replacement.

Amorim will know all about the 18-year-old, who was on fire against the 20-time English league champions in their most recent meeting.

The Saints academy product has four goals and two assists this term and despite Southampton being bottom of the Premier League, the England U21 international has stood out with his skills and technical qualities.

With Ivan Juric’s team looking favourite to go down, many teams will be looking at acquiring Dibling in the summer when his price is expected to drop.

But United will need reinforcements immediately with the Saints slapping a £55 million price tag on him should any side come for him this January.

    Dibling as Garnacho’s replacement

“Manchester United are looking to step up their interest in Southampton’s Tyler Dibling this January transfer window. The Red Devils are bracing for the possible departure of Alejandro Garnacho, with Chelsea believed to be readying a bid worth at least £60 million and the winger open to a move to London.

“As a result, United will look to bring in Dibling, who has enjoyed a breakout season for Premier League strugglers Saints.

“The Old Trafford club could push for a deal this transfer window but there is every chance that the £55 million price tag that Southampton have put on him would inevitably drop at the end of the season should the south coast club get relegated.”

Interestingly, there has been talk of United going after Christopher Nkunku should Garnacho move to the Blues with the Frenchman’s goalscoring ability highly valued by the Old Trafford side.

However, certain sections within INEOS feel Dibling would be a far better alternative due to his playmaking ability. With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee already there, the club feel they need someone who can feed the strikers and Dibling is seen as the perfect recruit.

    Dibling over Nkunku

“Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku is exploring an exit from Stamford Bridge, with the club open to allowing any player who wishes to leave to move on, as CaughtOffside previously reported.

“At United, there are some within the club who view the Frenchman as a valuable addition, given his proven goal-scoring record—something United are in desperate need of.

“However, others within the hierarchy, particularly those within Ineos, believe the focus should instead be on improving service to current forwards like Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund.

“They believe investing in a versatile attacker like Tyler Dibling, who has the potential to develop and grow with the club, would be a more worthwhile approach for the long term.”

Whether either of the two come to United this month remains to be seen. Fans would prefer the club to keep Garnacho but PSR concerns might mean an exit is inevitable.

Rashford seen as most ‘realistic’ Barcelona signing but they want Liverpool, Newcastle stars instead

Rashford seen as most ‘realistic’ Barcelona signing but they want Liverpool, Newcastle stars instead

Barcelona would reportedly prefer to land Luis Diaz or Alexander Isak out of their forward targets, but Marcus Rashford is seen as a ‘more realistic’ signing in January.

Barcelona have landed top stars from various European leagues for years. In recent times, the likes of Raphinha, Ousmane Dembele and Robert Lewandowski were some of their biggest snares.

It is little surprise that, though they are in financial strife, they are continuing to court some of the best players in Europe.

According to reports in Spain, Liverpool’s Diaz, Newcastle’s Isak and United’s Rashford are the main forwards on the radar currently.

The potential of signing Rashford has seemed a legitimate one for weeks, given he’s essentially been banished from United’s squad under Ruben Amorim, last playing in early December. He is said to favour a move to Spain.

As such, it is believed that Rashford is the ‘more realistic’ signing of the Premier League trio. That is despite the fact it’s made clear that Barcelona would rather sign either Diaz or Isak.

That is likely as United would seemingly allow the forward to leave on loan in January, whereas there is no chance that either of the other Premier League sides would let their stars go for anything less than a massive fee.

👉 Man Utd: Rashford rejects ‘whopping offer’ with ‘favourites’ named amid PL transfer ‘real possibility’
👉 Man Utd ‘serious’ for Chelsea ‘swap’ to sign £67m star as ‘exit’ depends on two conditions

To get Rashford, Barca will still have to get a couple of players off the books. Indeed, they need to make space in their wage bill to be able to pay his massive contract.

It is believed they are trying to push Ansu Fati out the door, and reports have even stated that United themselves could look to bring the forward through the door on loan.

That would likely help the clubs come to an agreement on Rashford, as if Fati’s full contract was to be paid by United, it should in turn help Barcelona to be able to finance the Englishman’s deal.

United plotting La Liga raid for “extraordinary” French midfielder to replace outgoing Casemiro – report

With Casemiro’s future up in the air, Manchester United need a defensive midfielder to fill the void should the Brazilian depart anytime soon.

Al-Nassr’s offer still remains on the table while Major League Soccer clubs are also eyeing a move for the 32-year-old who has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

He has managed only four starts under Ruben Amorim, not lasting the full 90 minutes in either of those appearances and his last cap came more than three weeks ago with the head coach preferring academy graduate Toby Collyer instead of him, which makes a departure even more likely.

As per CaughtOffside, the Red Devils are monitoring Lucien Agoume of Sevilla with a view to moving in for him in the summer after he caught the eye of United scouts with his displays in La Liga.

        Lucien Agoume interest

“Sevilla’s Lucien Agoume is of interest to United. He is on their radar as they look to bolster the midfield, but any deal won’t occur until the summer.”

The 22-year-old can operate further forward as well and has made 20 appearances for the Spanish side since his summer move from Inter Milan.

Owing to United’s PSR woes, the Red Devils are are unlikely to have a huge war chest to work with in the summer as well and the France U21 fits the bill as he is not expected to cost a lot.

There is plenty of Premier League interest in his services, so it will not be a straightforward race. But he fits the INEOS bill of being young and having loads of potential.

        Will not cost a lot

“The 22-year-old is contracted at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium until 2028 and there is no exit clause in his current deal.

“He has been linked with a move to the Premier League before and would not cost a substantial fee,” the report further added.

The “extraordinary” Frenchman’s physical attributes have earned him a lot of praise in the past and he possesses a great engine, which should work well in Amorim’s system.

Agoume has a market value of €7 million with Sevilla acquiring his services for €4 million last summer with his contract valid until 2028. He has no release clause in his contract.

Official: Young United defender seals loan move to promotion contenders

Manchester United’s Jack Kingdon has completed a loan move to Rochdale AFC until the end of the season.

A key member of United’s treble winning u18s last season, Kingdon has been in fine form for the u21s this term.

Rochdale currently sit 8th in the National League table, two points off the play-off spots but with a number of games in hand compared to all of the clubs above them.

The non-league club took to X to say “we’re delighted to announce the signing of Jack Kingdon on loan from Manchester United.”

They also confirmed that Kingdon “will take the number 28 during his time here.”

The 19 year old’s move wasn’t registered in time for him to take part in Rochdale’s match today with Yeovil Town but he should be available for their home match with Boston United on Tuesday.

Kingdon previously met Rochdale in December when United’s u21s took on Rochdale in the National League Cup.

United won the match 0-1 with Kingdon being one of the standout performers, which evidently caught the eye of the Rochdale’s management.

The move will be the youngster’s first foray into first team football on loan but he has proven himself in the aforementioned National League Cup and EFL Trophy to be well equipped to handle the physicality of senior football along with having trained with United’s first team.

An old fashioned centre back in style, Kingdon defends the box well with a strong aerial presence while also having the mobility to mop up in the channels.

No slouch on the ball either, Kingdon has been capped at international level for Scotland’s u19s.

With Rochdale having 23 matches remaining in the league, more than any other club in the National League, the move offers a good opportunity for him to pick up a lot of experience before the end of the season, including potential high pressured play-off matches for promotion.

Man Utd told to ‘drop’ £60m star at Chelsea in swap deal as transfer target ‘walks into’ Amorim’s team

Pundit Paul Merson has told Manchester United to “drop” Alejandro Garnacho at Chelsea amid reports suggesting he could be involved in a swap deal.

The Red Devils are considering offers for Garnacho as this pure profit sale would raise funds for incoming and reduce their chances of breaking the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

Garnacho has been heavily linked with Serie A giants Napoli as they are in the market for a winger to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but Chelsea are also in the running to sign Garnacho.

The Argentina international is currently the most likely of Man Utd’s academy products to leave the Premier League giants this month, but it remains to be seen whether a deal can be finalised with his valuation set at around £60m.

It has also emerged that Garnacho could leave Man Utd as part of a swap deal as they are ‘seriously considering’ signing Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.

Merson thinks Man Utd would be better off with this transfer as they need to “get that deal done”.

“If I’m Man United, I’m getting that deal done, 100 per cent. I’m dropping him [Garnacho] off and picking up Nkunku,” Merson said.

“Honestly, if Man United got him they’d get a signing-and-a-half.

“I don’t get the Garnacho one. He’s not better than Jadon Sancho nowhere near, he’s not better than Pedro Neto. Him and Noni Madueke have their days when they’re looking good but they won’t be consistent enough.

“I don’t see where he plays but the other lad walks into the Man United team.”

Tim Sherwood meanwhile has explained why he “can’t see” Chelsea signing Garnacho, while Nkunku to Man Utd makes more sense.

“Very surprised on the fact that I don’t think Chelsea need Garnacho. I don’t think they do [need another winger], they’ve got better players,” Sherwood said.

“Nkunku to United I can see. He’s a goalscorer, he wants to play on a regular basis and I still think Man United are a big pull.

“But for Garnacho to go the other way, I just can’t see it. I’m not sure about Garnacho, I don’t think he’s a superstar but I think he’s a lot better than a lot of the players they’ve got.

“So, when you haven’t got that many good players and someone who’s come through your academy, why would you release?”

Manchester United are reportedly looking to ‘step up’ their interest in Southampton winger Tyler Dibling, as they brace for the departure of winger Alejandro Garnacho.

Dibling was in the sights at Old Trafford prior to talk of Garnacho upping sticks. He put in a good performance against the Red Devils earlier on in the season, and followed it up with another recently.

But United are now said to want to ‘step up’ their interest in the 18-year-old, who has two goals this season, given Garnacho’s situation, per Caught Offside.

The United winger has been the subject of offers from Napoli and Chelsea, and it’s believed the Blues have raised their offer. The new report states United are bracing for the exit of the Argentine.

So they will now look to bring in Dibling, and some within United’s hierarchy believe investing in a versatile attacker such as the Saints man, along with his potential to grow, is a worthwhile approach.

More so than a move for Christopher Nkunku, with some reports stating he and Garnacho could be involved in a swap deal.

If the Dibling route is taken, United could stun Tottenham, with our friends at TEAMtalk reporting the Saints man is very keen on a move to north London, with Spurs putting in work to secure his signing.

United also have eyes on Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume, per the report. It’s believed they want to bolster the midfield, and the No.6 would be a decent option to do that.

However, Agoume would not join in January, and any deal would be done in the summer, but with the Frenchman not commanding a massive fee.

They could also wait on Dibling, as the Red Devils reportedly believe that the reported £55million price tag on his head will drop by the summer.

“Clear objective”: 21yo Spanish sensation “being considered” for January transfer amid Lecce’s exorbitant demands – report

Manchester United are prioritising the addition of a left wingback in the winter transfer window with the club currently locked in talks with Lecce over Patrick Dorgu.

However, the Dane is not the only option being monitored with former Carrington graduate Alvaro Fernandez Carreras another player that the Red Devils have their eyes on.

The Spaniard has been a revelation since his permanent move to Benfica last summer. And as per Portuguese outlet Record, United scouts will be present to watch the 21-year-old in action when Benfica take on Casa Pia on Saturday.

“Man. United will be represented today in Rio Maior to watch Casa Pia-Benfica (6pm), with a clear objective: to see Álvaro Carreras in action once again.

United scouts will watch Alvaro Fernandez

“The club led by Rúben Amorim is looking to sign a left-back and has already made an offer for Patrick Dorgu, a Lecce player, but the possibility of the Red Devils buying the Spaniard back from Benfica is also being considered.”

Barcelona are also interested in the former United star with Benfica refusing to let him go for less than his release clause of €50 million.

However, the 20-time English league champions hold all the aces in the deal as they had included a buyback clause for around €20 million.

With Lecce demanding over €40 million for their wingback, INEOS might be tempted to opt for the cost-effective option given their PSR concerns.

The Spanish star has been a regular for Benfica this term, making 30 appearances while netting three times and has also registered four assists.

Alvaro is a more cost-effective option

Fernandez has impressed in an attacking sense but question marks remain over his defending. He has also been deployed as a traditional left-back for the Portuguese giants, another point of concern.

The potential deal also highlights what a costly mistake it was to let him leave for a mere €6 million in the first place.

Erik ten Hag opted to send him away without offering him any first-team minutes despite the absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia due to injury.

It will be interesting to see which left wingback ultimately comes to Old Trafford this January. One thing is clear, Ruben Amorim cannot make do with playing Diogo Dalot in the position for much longer.

Man Utd transfers: Amorim ‘requests’ three ‘bombshell signings’ with INEOS ‘to meet demands’

According to reports, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has ‘requested’ three ‘bombshell signings’ amid claims he’s ‘frustrated’.

Amorim was appointed to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd towards the end of 2024 and he’s endured a difficult start at Old Trafford.

Under the 39-year-old, Man Utd have lost seven of their previous 16 matches in all competitions as he’s attempted to implement his preferred 3-4-3 system.

The Red Devils are massively underperforming as they sit 13th in the Premier League. They have also threatened to slip into the relegation picture as they are only ten points clear of the bottom three.

Man Utd are yet to make a January signing. They have been focused on potential outgoings as a huge overhaul is required. A report from Manchester Evening News claims Amorim is ‘frustrated’ with the lack of business this month.

READ: ‘Stupid’ Man Utd transfer to ‘create bigger issue’; Man City FFP expulsion would ‘bankrupt PL’

                  The report explained:

‘Sources have suggested Amorim was not fully aware of United’s financial issues when he agreed to take over as head coach in November.

‘United sources have denied that and insist Amorim was given a full and transparent breakdown of the club’s financial realities when it was outlined that the days of spending £200million+ every summer were over.

‘Amorim was informed by the United hierarchy that they would have to sell to finance any incomings this month. However, United are adamant that they would only sell players out of choice and there is no pressure for a fire-sale in January.

‘United remain open to offloading players this month and could be forced into a cut-price sale of Alejandro Garnacho, recently valued at £73.76m by the CIES Football Observatory.’

Despite this, a report in Spain claims Amorim has ‘requested’ three ‘bombshell signings’ as he wants Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi.

The report claims Hakimi is considered an ‘ideal solution’ for the wing-back department, while Amorim has ‘proposed’ Wirtz as the ‘perfect playmaker’.

As for Gyokeres, Amorim previously worked with the prolific striker at Sporting Lisbon and he is the Europe’s leading scorer in 2025.

Man Utd are lacking in forward areas as Gyokeres is said to be their ‘priority’ target.

‘Manchester United are preparing for a summer transfer market that could mark a turning point in their recent history.

‘After several years away from the Premier League fight, the Red Devils are looking to meet the demands of their coach, Rubén Amorim, with three top-level signings: Viktor Gyokeres, Florian Wirtz and Achraf Hakimi .

‘The idea is clear: build a competitive team that can regain prominence both in England and in Europe.’

Manchester United are reportedly contemplating a loan move for Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.

According to Sky Sports pundit Dharmesh Sheth, a permanent deal to bring Nkunku to Old Trafford, however, is viewed as highly unlikely at this stage.

Chelsea’s interest in United’s young winger, Alejandro Garnacho, adds another dimension to the unfolding saga.

The Blues have been closely monitoring the 20 year old.

Garnacho’s potential involvement in any negotiations could significantly influence the dynamics of a possible loan arrangement for Nkunku.

For now, United’s focus remains on finding a solution that aligns with their financial priorities and tactical requirements.

Nkunku’s time at Chelsea has been forgettable so far, plagued by injuries that have curtailed his ability to make a significant impact.

However, it is important to remember his electric form in the Bundesliga, where he was one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards during his time at RB Leipzig.

His combination of pace, creativity, and clinical finishing made him a standout performer, attracting interest from several elite clubs.

Meanwhile, United’s current striking options have struggled to deliver.

Rasmus Højlund has underperformed this season, failing to live up to his early promise, while Joshua Zirkzee, though offering something new, lacks the consistent goal threat and incisive attacking edge that United desperately need.

Nkunku’s arrival could provide the dynamism and penetration that United’s attack has been missing.

Manchester United forward Antony has arrived in Spain ahead of his loan move to Real Betis.

A video shared on X by centredevils shows the Brazilian shortly after touchdown at the airport, pushing a trolley piled high with suitcases.

The 24-year-old is set to sign for the Spanish club on a straight loan deal for the rest of the season as he looks to get his career back on track – it was arguably last there at Ajax in 2022.

The days of his record-breaking start to life at Old Trafford, when he became the first United player to score in his first three Premier League matches for the club, are well and truly over.

The Brazilian will be glad of the opportunity for a fresh start and the chance to find some form, although the assumption is that this would simply serve to boost United’s asking price for him in the summer rather than offer him a way back into the team.

Since arriving in the dugout in November last year Ruben Amorim has used Antony sparingly, cautiously trialling the winger as a makeshift wing-back while prodding and probing his squad in his first few weeks in charge.

If Antony had played well, there is every chance Amorim would want to keep him around given Marcus Rashford’s abrupt disappearance into the background, the question marks over Alejandro Garnacho’s future and the side’s goalscoring issues.

But put simply, the 24-year-old fluffed his lines and fumbled every audition he was given, demonstrating himself simply not up to the level required to thrive in English football.

Through no real fault of his own, Antony became a symbol of everything that was wrong with the club during the Erik ten Hag era.

He was brought in after a rough start to Ten Hag’s first season in charge, and Ajax had pound signs in their eyes as United coughed up a huge £86m to reunite the player with his former manager.

Since joining the Red Devils, he has scored 12 goals and made five assists in 96 games, and frequently turned in shoddy performances to frustrate the fans.

United can at least console themselves with an unusually well-negotiated deal, which will see Antony’s new temporary employers contributing 84% of his gigantic wages, trimming around £1.5m from United’s balance sheet for the rest of the season.
