Manchester United teenager Jim Thwaites has become the latest academy product to impress Ruben Amorim while training with the first team.
Carrington is currently brimming with outrageously talented youngsters aspiring to make the big leap and join the senior squad in the coming years.
For his part, Amorim has displayed his willingness to field young players in his lineup. Last season, several teenagers earned their senior debuts under his watch, including Ayden Heaven, Chido Obi and Harry Amass.

This season, United’s light schedule has prevented the manager from handing opportunities for some of the club’s most deserving youngsters. Nevertheless, the Portuguese has been occasionally inviting some of them to train with the seniors. This was the case with Shea Lacey, who left a major impression on the technical staff, as reported last month.
According to Man United insider, Sully, Amorim and his collaborators brought Thwaites to a training session last Friday, and they were left delighted by the 17-year-old.
As the journalist explains in his update on the CentreDevils, the teenager was given this opportunity thanks to his brilliant performances with Man Utd’s U18 squad this season. The midfielder has already scored two goals in six league appearances.
Carrington sources have been so impressed with the United wonderkid, that they’ve been comparing him to Pedri.
Why Thwaites has been likened to Pedri
Although the Englishman still has a long way to go before reaching the levels of the Barcelona and Spain star, observers have already been bewitched by his ability to maintain possession while under pressure and bring the ball forward.
Thwaites is able to operate in almost any role in the middle of the park. He can feature as a deep-lying playmaker, a box-to-box midfielder, or even as an advanced playmaker.
While 15-year-old J.J. Gabriel might be the delight of the U18 squad, Man Utd are certainly blessed to have several other rough jewels at their disposal.
