Wilcox working behind the scenes to sign explosive Barcelona star, talks already held over stunning transfer – report

Manchester United are intensifying their search for a new left-back, with Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall emerging as their primary target. However, Newcastle maintain that they do not wish to sell Hall, and it may require a bid in the region of £70 million to secure the Englishman’s services. As a result, Jason Wilcox and company have reportedly also held talks regarding two other leading left-back targets.  Manchester United make move for Alejandro Balde According to TEAMtalk, extensive work has been ongoing behind the scenes at Manchester United on alternative targets, and two names have emerged prominently: Barcelona star Alejandro Balde and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown. It is claimed that both players fit the exact profile Wilcox is seeking. Furthermore, head of recruitment Christopher Vivell has been particularly influential in discussions and is understood to have strongly advocated for both players internally. United reportedly made enquiries regarding Balde earlier this year after learning he could become available in the summer.  That situation remains “very much alive”, with Barcelona planning a significant squad overhaul. Balde is one of the players for whom they are willing to listen to offers. The 22-year-old Spaniard is known for his explosive pace and dribbling ability. However, he has struggled with injury issues over the past 24 months or so. Manchester United prepared to swoop in for Nathaniel Brown Meanwhile, Brown has established himself as Germany’s first-choice left-back following a prolific Bundesliga campaign. Bayern Munich are thought to be leading the race for the 22-year-old German, having held talks with both Brown and Frankfurt. However, it is believed that a deal remains far from certain, as Frankfurt’s £55 million valuation is viewed as steep by Bayern. The report adds that United have been “quick to position themselves and we understand contact has taken place with Brown and his representatives.” Feature image Judit Cartiel via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. United thrown lifeline in race for “dream” Casemiro replacement, Vivell leading charge for 70m deal – report

Manchester United remain in the hunt for Aurelien Tchouameni despite Real Madrid president Florentino Perez’s insistence that the defensive midfielder is not for sale, according to a new report. Dream Target The Red Devils are prioritising a ‘marquee’ signing to replace Casemiro, whose contract expires this month and who looks set to join Inter Miami after a resurgent final season in a red shirt. A £39 million deal has already been struck for Atalanta dynamo Ederson, though the 26-year-old Brazilian is not necessarily seen as his compatriot’s successor, but rather as a versatile squad option for Michael Carrick. United’s primary target has been Nottingham Forest and England star, Elliot Anderson. But the 23-year-old is leaning towards the blue half of Manchester, with INEOS considering the Tricky Trees’ asking price – well in excess of £100m – too expensive. Tchouameni is a long-term target at Old Trafford, predating the current hierarchy, though the 26-year-old France international has many admirers in M16. Recruitment director Christopher Vivell is said to be leading the charge for the Champions League-winning midfielder, with Fabrizio Romano claiming he is United’s “dream” signing this summer. Initially, a pursuit appeared forlorn, given how important the Rouen native is for Los Blancos, with the player also understood to be happy in Madrid. However, a combination of an explosive fight with Federico Valverde, which saw the Uruguayan hospitalised, and Real’s interest in signing a new playmaker in midfield – Manchester City maestro Rodri is the leading target – has cast doubt over his future. Perez, in the midst of running for re-election as Real’s president, has publicly stated both Tchouameni and Valverde “will stay”, despite their confrontation. But sources indicate an exit is still possible, given the state of flux currently unfolding at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Door Is Not Fully Closed Tyrone Marshall (Manchester Evening News) claims Tchouameni could “remain one to watch” as a target for United as “some in Spain don’t believe the situation is necessarily closed.” The Manchester-based reporter states there are a “lot of moving parts at the Bernabeu this summer”, with the election, the imminent arrival of Jose Mourinho should Perez win re-election, and the prospect of big-money sales to fund new recruits. The state of play right now will likely be a radically different one come July. United have moved early to sign Ederson amid interest from other Italian sides, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal. The Campo Grande native was seen as a market opportunity that had been on the radar for a long time, a cost-effective way to bolster midfield. The next target on the agenda is West Ham starlet Mateus Fernandes, with talks already held for the 21-year-old Portugal international. The Hammers are demanding up to £80m, but well-placed sources indicate the expected price will be closer to the £60m mark. This would leave Carrick with two outstanding young No.8s in Mainoo and M.Fernandes, a versatile enforcer in Ederson, and Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount jostling for the No.10 role. The elite No.6 that the club are desperate to add to their ranks would remain unfilled – but there is a growing sense United are prepared to bide their time. Final Thoughts – Patience Is A Virtue The World Cup kicks off next week, making the signing of any one of Europe’s best players even more difficult than it normally would be. The chaos which has engulfed the Bernabeu in recent months will settle over the next month, with the Spanish giant expected to be aggressive in the market. Patience is a virtue; one United appear to be demonstrating in pursuit of Tchouameni, whose future with Real may look very different once France’s tournament in North America comes to an end. The fact that a price tag of around £70m has been suggested, when United’s other targets, like Anderson or Sandro Tonali, will cost £100m or more only strengthens the case. “We need to continue working”: Under-fire Skinner gets huge public backing from top figure at United

Manchester United Women started the season very well, qualifying for the Champions League. Mixed fortunes The Red Devils breezed through the league phase and Atletico Madrid to set up a quarter-final tie with Bayern Munich. Unfortunately, they narrowly missed out 5-3 on aggregate and also lost their first ever League Cup final to Chelsea. Sadly, they underperformed in the league and finished fourth, missing out on Champions League football next season. Marc Skinner doubts In fact, United won just one of their last ten matches and that was a last-gasp winner versus Everton. As a result, there has been a significant amount of pressure on manager Marc Skinner and there have been reports that the club were not happy with him. Skinner has come out fighting though in recent press conferences and defended his record at the club. He has also stated that he is the right man for the job even though an increasing number of fans disagree with this assessment. Omar Berrada backing In a recent interview with Manchester United’s CEO, Omar Berrada, it was seemingly suggested that Skinner’s short-term future at the club was safe. Despite not backing the manager outright, Berrada’s comments about the Women’s team suggested he would be a part of the future. Speaking on the Inside Carrington Podcast through club media, Berrada commented, “overall we’ve seen the women’s team play champions league for the first time, did really well. We fell short in the WSL, we would have wanted to finish in the top three positions but we understand it’s difficult to compete on all fronts.” Turning to the club’s future he exclaimed, “we’re very proud of what they achieved, now we need to continue working with Matt Johnson, Marc (Skinner) and others to see how we continue growing.” United will need a big summer window and have reportedly reached an agreement with Spanish full-back Andrea Medina. Nonetheless, there have been worrying rumours over the futures of stars such as Ella Toone, Elisabeth Terland and Melvine Malard, which will do little to appease fans’ concerns. Manchester United have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Lokomotiv Moscow attacking midfielder Aleksey Batrakov. The Red Devils are looking ahead to a busy summer transfer window and the 20 year old Russian is reportedly among the candidates on their radar. The English giants have switched to a youth-based transfer strategy in recent times and have subsequently signed some of the world’s most talented youngsters. Meanwhile, having also upgraded their attack last summer, United enjoyed a resurgent run from the beginning of the year to secure a third-place finish in the Premier League. That achievement has earned them a return to the Champions League after a gap of two years. The Red Devils are preparing to take part in the new format of the tournament for the first time and are wary of the fixture congestion that awaits them next season. As such, despite investing over £200 million in their front line last year, the Premier League giants are back in the market for further firepower. A recent report relayed by The Peoples Person states that they have been convinced by young Batrakov. UK sanctions put United on the back foot Batrakov rose through the ranks at the Moscow-based club before earning promotion to the senior side in 2024. The 20 year old has since cemented his place in the starting XI and is now one of the stars of the first team. This season, the Russian has registered 17 goals and 12 assists in 36 games, forcing clubs across the continent to take note. The previous report from TPP outlined that United, Manchester City and Chelsea are among the player’s suitors. However, it adds that UK sanctions on Russia due to the Ukraine war make it next to impossible for English clubs to secure a deal. That had opened the door for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to take advantage, with the player’s agent also confirming that a move to the Parc des Princes has a 95% chance of happening this summer. However, a contrasting update has now emerged that could provide United with a lifeline in this race. PSG end Batrakov pursuit According to Le Parisien, PSG have pulled the plug on their pursuit of Batrakov. The report states: “Among the players under consideration in recent weeks is Alexei Batrakov. The Russian attacking midfielder from Lokomotiv Moscow has been scouted on several occasions by Luis Campos, who has taken the time to analyse his development.” The report states that the Parisians’ football advisor Campos has decided against the move, adding: “Despite the interest shown in him, the matter is unlikely to go any further. Having assessed the situation, PSG do not intend to pursue this lead and are currently prioritising other options to strengthen the squad.” Final Thoughts United have to put succession plans in place for Bruno Fernandes, who will turn 32 in September this year. Batrakov could be an option to replace the mercurial Portuguese at the Theatre of Dreams, although securing his signature will be tough due to the UK sanctions. However, PSG’s exit from the race provides United with time to explore alternative avenues to get a deal done. The Red Devils should continue with the groundwork to ensure that they are ready to take advantage if the situation takes a positive turn. “A special connection”: United Women star gives encouraging updates on future at club after transfer rumours

Manchester United Women striker Elisabeth Terland had another good season for the Red Devils. Strong season Terland impressed with 15 goals in 32 matches but has recently been linked with a move away from the club. The striker was also in action for United in their recent World Sevens appearance and has linked up with the Norwegian national team ahead of World Cup qualifiers. Preparation Terland was speaking with the club’s media about how she prepares for matches. The Norwegian stated that her success is often down to the positive atmosphere of the dressing room. She explained, “inside the dressing room, everyone is just happy to see each other. We talk to each other, we connect. We’re focused for the game, we’re ready. I usually sit between Mel and Tooney [Melvine Malard and Ella Toone]. It’s nice to have them as neighbours. In the dressing room we’re all very happy usually, quite confident.” DJ duty The striker also explained that she is on DJ duty in the dressing room at the moment. She stated, “the best DJ is on the music… it’s me! You should ask all my team-mates what they think about the music. It is sick, they’re very happy about my music! We’re on a Bad Bunny high now. But it’s a lot of different things, I think I hit everyone. They’ve stopped requesting because it’s so good!” The striker also explained that she does not have any superstitions before a game, but some of her teammates certainly do, although it would drive her crazy having to remember them. Pre-match ritual She asserted, “I am not someone who visualises myself scoring before a game. You always prepare for what you’re going to meet and who you’re going to play against, and make sure you are where you need to be, both physically and mentally before the game starts.” Terland also explained that she loves playing in front of the home fans at The Progress with Unity Stadium and that there is no better feeling than scoring in front of them. She explained, “there is a special connection between us and our fans. You really feel the power of the fans. I had a period in Norway where I felt a little bit of the same, but I’ve never felt it as big before. It’s special and I love it.” Elisabeth Terland season stats SeasonGames playedGoals 2025/20263215 Source: Wikipedia Featured image Michael Campanella via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. Video: “He’s earned the right”: United CEO on what makes Carrick stand out compared to previous managers

Manchester United started the season in inconsistent fashion under Ruben Amorim. Due to results, disagreements over tactics and transfer decisions, United and Amorim parted ways in January. The Red Devils appointed Michael Carrick as interim manager, and he adapted to the job immediately, winning his first four matches in a row, including victories against Manchester City and Arsenal. Carrick guided United to a third-place finish and secured Champions League football for the next season. During this time, the club managed to beat most of the top teams in the league and won six of their final seven matches, ending the season very strongly indeed. As a result, Carrick was offered the job on a permanent basis in May, which he accepted. Omar Berrada In a wide-ranging interview with the club’s media, CEO Omar Berrada explained why Carrick was given the job ahead of potential rivals. Berrada claimed that Carrick and he have a “very good” relationship. He also explained, “I obviously didn’t know him prior to him taking over the role, so when we went through the interview process, I met him for the first time. I had heard many good things about him, and everything has turned out to be true. He’s somebody who loves the club, understands the values of the club, is a great man-manager, and we’ve seen that with the players and how they’ve reacted to him taking over.” Giving an insight into why Carrick was chosen to lead the club forward, Berrada suggested, “I think he’s earned the right to continue leading the team over the next two years or more.” When pushed to describe the Englishman’s managerial style, he said, “I would describe him as somebody who is very calm but also very driven and I’m sure he’ll do everything he can, him and his staff, to make sure that we have a successful team this season, next season and the year after that.” Berrada hinted that perhaps United have got it wrong in recent years by choosing managers with very different styles. He explained, “the way we look at it is you need the right coach for the squad that you have and what you’re trying to achieve over the next years. I think Michael, over the last months, has demonstrated that he can do that. I think when we look at the squad and what we’re trying to do over the next two years, he does bring the right attributes, the right ingredients, character, understanding of the club to help us navigate through the next steps of our journey.” MIchael Carrick Managerial Career Stats TeamFromToGames PlayedGames WonGames DrawnGames LostWin % Manchester United (caretaker)21 November 20212 December 2021321066.7 Middlesbrough24 October 20224 June 202513663244946.3 Manchester United13 January 2026present17123270.6 Total15677285149.4 Featured image Steve Bardens via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
