Manchester United are eyeing several Premier League-proven midfielders this summer, including Newcastle United maestro Sandro Tonali. However, the latest update on the Italian’s future will not please Red Devils fans. INEOS enjoyed tremendous success in last summer’s transfer window and will be keen to repeat the trick this year with the midfield. A capable replacement for Casemiro is on the agenda, with recent reports suggesting Atalanta’s Ederson is all set to arrive at Old Trafford. The focus is now on adding Premier League-proven quality to Michael Carrick’s midfield, especially with Manuel Ugarte likely to leave as well. Recent reports have linked United with a move for West Ham United star Mateus Fernandes. However, the 21 year old is hardly the finished article and INEOS could be tempted to add more Premier League experience to the squad. With Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson expected to join Manchester City, Tonali has emerged as an option for the Red Devils. United enticed by Tonali’s Premier League credentials Tonali has been indispensable for Newcastle United since arriving from AC Milan in 2023. The Italian has amassed 79 appearances in the Premier League, registering five goals and four assists. Tonali combines defensive alertness with box-to-box drive and is assured with his passing, attributes that have endeared him to the Old Trafford hierarchy. Last season, Tonali registered three goals and seven assists in 53 appearances across all competitions for the Magpies. The 25 year old is under contract with the Magpies until 2028, and United are keeping a close watch on his situation. However, recent reports suggested that City are also interested in Tonali’s signature, and acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano has now provided another concerning update on the player. Tottenham Hotspur in the driving seat Sharing the news on social media, Romano said that Tottenham have entered the race to sign Tonali this summer. He wrote: “EXCLUSIVE: Tottenham have entered the race to sign Sandro Tonali!” “De Zerbi wants Tonali as new star for the midfield, ideal to step up #THFC level. Spurs ready to face Man City and Arsenal in the race for Tonali for new ambitious project to prove their intentions.” Just as United fans were coming to terms with the news, the Italian journalist dropped another bombshell. Sharing an update on his YouTube channel, Romano insisted that the Italian midfielder is ready to move to Spurs this summer. He said: “Sandro Tonali is keen on a move to Tottenham; he is ready to make a move to Spurs. Tonali is attracted by the project and wants to play under De Zerbi, as they share a very close connection, even without Europe! Could take £85m package.” Final Thoughts If Tonali wants to join Tottenham, United may be fighting a losing battle in attempting to convince him to move to the Theatre of Dreams. INEOS, instead, should redirect all their resources into completing a move for Mateus Fernandes. 🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Tottenham have entered the race to sign Sandro Tonali! 💣🇮🇹 De Zerbi wants Tonali as new star for the midfield, ideal to step up #THFC level. Marcus Rashford open to bombshell Old Trafford return under one key condition – David Ornstein

Marcus Rashford open to bombshell Old Trafford return under one key condition – David Ornstein

Manchester United remain intent on selling Marcus Rashford as several Premier League teams are eyeing the 28-year-old forward as an option, David Ornstein reveals. Barcelona Say No Despite a promising maiden campaign at Camp Nou after joining Barcelona on a season-long loan last summer, the Spanish giants have decided against signing Rashford on a permanent deal. The England international returned 14 goals and 14 assists in all competitions, helping the Blaugrana defend their LaLiga title. Hansi Flick is understood to have been a big fan of the United loanee and wanted him to remain a part of the squad next season, with a report from Spain even claiming the German boss had told Rashford this directly. However, Barcelona’s hierarchy prioritised the £70 million capture of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United over triggering the £26 million buy-option in the deal with the Red Devils. Interestingly, Gordon and Rashford are set to go head-to-head for the starting berth for the Three Lions at the World Cup. Thomas Tuchel is believed to be set to mirror this decision as well, with England’s opening game coming against Croatia on Wednesday. Barcelona had until 15 June to extend Rashford’s stay in Catalonia, with Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirming this morning that the Wythenshawe native had “formally return[ed]” to Manchester, even if he remains in America on international duty. https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/2066784339472310422 Tweet: “Marcus Rashford formally returns to Manchester United as €30m buy option clause for Barcelona has now expired. No decision on future yet as Barça are still keen on keeping Marcus but only on loan. Man United taking their time to make decision.” Rashford Open To Old Trafford Stay Ornstein claims it is “unclear” whether Rashford will be able to seal an exit before the summer window closes once he flies back to Old Trafford next month. The Athletic reporter reveals “another switch to Barca is not completely discounted”, nor to another top European club, but United “intend only to entertain permanent solutions.” Interestingly, amid growing interest from a host of Premier League sides, Rashford is understood to have a “£40 million clause available to all admirers”, except for Liverpool and Manchester City. Arsenal, Aston Villa – where he spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan – Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have all been credited with interest. But it is believed Rashford’s preference would be to “honour the remaining 24 months on his deal [at Old Trafford] rather than join an English team”, while Michael Carrick is understood to have “left the door ajar” for a return under his watch. Final Thoughts Regardless of the player or coach’s wishes, INEOS are steadfast in their plan to be rid of the club’s most expensive contract, which will increase once the Champions League bonus kicks in. There remains optimism that an offer from elsewhere in Europe may present itself, with Bayern Munich said to be on the hunt for a left winger after losing Gordon to Barcelona. But if push comes to shove in the final weeks of August, a return to Camp Nou on loan with full wage coverage is a better alternative financially than reincorporating a player whose race is run in M16. United make contact over 50m deal to sign 24-yo magician lighting up the World Cup – David Ornstein

Manchester United are interested in signing West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville, according to David Ornstein. Fire Sale in East London Despite West Ham having been unable to stave off relegation last season, a number of their best players – including Summerville – are expected to remain in the Premier League amid widespread interest. The Hammers are understood to need to raise significant income to cope with the loss of revenue that their descent into the Championship will induce, with some estimates reaching as high as £150 million. The London Stadium was also thrown into further chaos by the departure of chairman David Sullivan, who resigned from his position at the start of the month amid serious off-field allegations from a joint BBC Panorama and Times investigation. Manchester United have been strongly linked with midfield maestro Mateus Fernandes. A deal is advancing after positive talks were held with the 21-year-old Portugal international, though the two clubs remain apart on a fee. The Red Devils have also been linked with El Hadji Malick Diouf, West Ham’s flying full-back, as a back-up to Luke Shaw, while captain Jarrod Bowen is another target to provide a more reliable source of goals up top. However, Ornstein now reveals Summerville is also high on the radar if United decide to target a new option on the wing. Wing Wizard The Athletic reporter states United are one of a number of teams paying “serious attention” to the 24-year-old left winger. “One of those paying serious attention to Summerville are Manchester United, the tricky winger ranking highly among multiple options being studied in case they recruit in that position. “United have enquired about his situation and will be aware that it is expected to cost approximately £50million for West Ham to sanction the departure of a player under contract until June 2029.” The Netherlands international delivered a superb performance in his country’s World Cup opener against Japan, starting on the right for Ronald Koeman and scoring a lovely goal in the 2-2 draw. It’s like buses 🚌 Summerville guides the Dutch back in front pic.twitter.com/YVlV5gdgWt — ITV Football (@itvfootball) June 14, 2026 Final Thoughts This versatility – being capable of playing on either wing, or even through the middle – will be attractive to Old Trafford chiefs looking to bolster Michael Carrick‘s squad ahead of a return to the Champions League this season. Summerville’s track record in English football, having won the Championship Player of the Year with Leeds United two years ago, is another attribute INEOS prioritises. If a deal in the region of £50m can be struck, while picking up Fernandes for around £65m, it would be a double swoop on East London that adds quality and versatility in M16. United now eyeing move to sign Fulham midfield monster “with a great eye for a pass” – The Athletic

Manchester United are focusing their efforts on alternatives such as Mateus Fernandes after deciding against making a move for Elliot Anderson, with Nottingham Forest asking beyond a British record transfer fee. According to David Ornstein, talks through Fernandes’ agent Jorge Mendes are advancing, with personal terms not anticipated to prove an issue. However, it is understood the Old Trafford hierarchy are not prepared to meet West Ham United’s demands of £80m. Their list of alternative targets does not end with Fernandes. Manchester United eyeing Sander Berge According to The Athletic, Fulham midfielder Sander Berge is another player that Manchester United are now running the rule over as an option. It is believed United considered signing Berge in 2024 when he left Burnley for Fulham.  The 6’5″ midfielder has proven to be a success at Craven Cottage, continuing to impress with his aerial dominance, ball-winning ability, and ball-carrying skills. “He’s an intelligent footballer, with a great eye for a pass and the ability to run with the ball,” Vincent Kompany said after signing Berge for Burnley from Sheffield United. It is claimed Fulham would want to make a profit on the £25m they paid two years ago. The 28-year-old is part of Norway’s World Cup squad. A strong campaign in North America may further inflate his reputation and valuation. Manchester United explore deal for Alex Scott The same report adds that United have also explored the parameters of a deal for in-demand Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott. There is a belief the technically gifted Englishman could be available for £60m this summer despite the Cherries insisting he is not for sale. Bournemouth are attempting to renew his contract, which is currently set to expire in 2028. Any new deal could allegedly include a release clause of around £75m. Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali and Adam Wharton also remain on United’s list of midfield targets. Ex-United boss ready to derail Ineos pursuit of 25-yo Bundesliga midfield maestro report

Manchester United are keeping a close watch on Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha, but Real Madrid could end up ruining their plans. The Red Devils are determined to assemble a world-class array of midfielders at Old Trafford this summer. The English giants are looking to fill the boots of Casemiro, who was outstanding last season but has left the club as a free agent. With Manuel Ugarte failing to impress as well, United are targeting a complete overhaul of the midfield this year. Recent reports suggest that the Red Devils have already secured the services of Atalanta warrior Ederson. INEOS are expected to focus on Premier League-proven candidates next, with West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes high up on their agenda. However, that has not stopped them from scouting top talents from foreign leagues. Among the players who have long been linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams is Nmecha. United want Nmecha Nmecha rose through the ranks at Manchester City, but failed to cement a place in the starting XI and was released in the summer of 2021. He subsequently joined Wolfsburg and, two seasons later, ended up at the Signal Iduna Park. Felix has since become a guaranteed starter for the BVB. Last season, he registered five goals and three assists in 42 games, 36 of which were starts. The 25 year old fits the profile of players targeted by INEOS of late, which is why he is currently under consideration at the Theatre of Dreams. However, it now appears that the Red Devils will face intense competition in the race for his signature. Real Madrid eyeing Nmecha Sky Sports Germany report that new Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is keen to take Nmecha to the Santiago Bernabeu. The report states: “According to Sky Sport, Mourinho is keen on BVB midfielder Felix Nmecha.” “The 63-year-old star manager has already made enquiries about the nine-time Germany international. There is undoubtedly a need for reinforcements, as Real Madrid are looking to strengthen their midfield. Alongside the LaLiga giants, Premier League giants Manchester United and Manchester City are also lying in wait.” However, the report states that Dortmund are relaxed about the situation, given that the player signed a new contract in March that keeps him at the club until 2030. His release clause does not come into effect until next summer, and there is a belief that Nmecha will leave in 2027 for €70 million. The report also confirms that the German will become Dortmund’s highest earner from next season, concluding: “Nmecha’s importance to BVB has been underlined once again by his contract extension: according to Sky Sport, he will become the club’s highest earner from the start of the new season. Nmecha will be on the same salary as Süle, putting him in a league of his own financially speaking.” Final Thoughts United would not mind Real Madrid’s interest in Nmecha, given that he is not a priority target this summer. Meanwhile, the Los Blancos’ pursuit of the German could give the Red Devils a free run at West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes, who is reportedly on Mourinho’s wish list as well. Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke could be on the cusp of landing his next managerial role. Man United career After spending nine successful seasons at Aston Villa, Yorke moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 1998. He took to life in Manchester like a duck to water as he scored 29 goals in his first season as United won an historic treble. Yorke would spend just four seasons at United, scoring 65 goals in 152 appearances for the Red Devils. Before retiring, he had spells at Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Sydney FC and finally Sunderland. Managerial career In July 2022, Yorke was appointed manager of Macarthur Bulls but was sacked in January 2023. He had to wait a while longer for his next bite at the cherry in management, but in November 2024 he was named manager of his national side, Trinidad and Tobago. Yorke left the role earlier this year after his side failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. New opportunity Sky Sports report that Yorke is in the frame for his next managerial opportunity. The news station asserts that, “Dwight Yorke has had talks with Kaizer Chiefs about their vacant manager’s job.” They stress that, “the club’s ex-assistant Fernando Da Cruz is the favourite to take over the South African side but his appointment has yet to be confirmed and former Premier League striker Yorke is another name Chiefs have spoken to during their managerial search.” Yorke has been praised for his work with Trinidad and Tobago in terms of raising fitness standards and helping reconnect the team with their supporters. Therefore, Sky Sports have revealed that the Jamaican national team are also likely to make an approach for his services. Former Manchester United defender Sonny Aljofree is looking for a new club. United career Aljofree joined Manchester United’s first team training in 2022 but spent most of his career out on loan. The 21-year-old first joined Altrincham for two loan spells, first in 2023 and then in 2024. He then enjoyed a successful loan spell at Accrington Stanley, where he played regularly. The centre-back played 27 matches and even scored three goals for the League Two side. Aljofree then joined Notts County on loan last season but could not earn a regular place in the team, making just 11 appearances in total. As a result, he was recalled in January 2026. This month, it was also revealed that he would be leaving the club on a free owing to the expiry of his contract. The defender spent a total of 14 years at the club as he came through various ranks of the youth teams at Carrington. Future The Mirror report that the centre-back has a host of clubs interested in his services in England. The paper reports that, “Sonny Aljofree is attracting interest from League One clubs following his departure from Manchester United.” The article continues, “the 21-year-old central defender is available on a free transfer after 14 years at Old Trafford, where he rose through the ranks and captained the club’s Under-21 team.” Aljofree has yet to play at League One level, but after an impressive spell with Accrington Stanley, he may back his chances to impress at the slightly higher level of the third division. INEOS plotting sensational swoop for former United cult hero Anthony Martial – report

Not every player goes on to enjoy success after leaving Manchester United, just ask Anthony Martial. The Frenchman, regarded as a cult hero by the United faithful, joined AEK Athens after spending nine years in Manchester. His time in the Greek capital ended after one season, as he fell out of favour with the coach — a recurring theme for the versatile attacker. The 30-year-old then chose to join Liga MX club CF Monterrey in Mexico, but even that stint ended abruptly after a disappointing season. Anthony Martial has struggled since leaving United A free agent once again, the France international is looking to find a new team, and despite his difficulties over the last couple of years, teams in his homeland are reportedly ready to take a punt on him. Mediafoot have revealed that as many as three teams are chasing the former United No.9, including OGC Nice. Why is this significant? Because the Ligue 1 club are owned by INEOS, who are also co-owners of the 20-time English league champions. Paris FC and Troyes have also spoken to the player’s representatives regarding a summer move. Three Ligue 1 teams eyeing the Frenchman “At 30 years old, Anthony Martial is entering the transfer market as a free agent. And in Ligue 1, his profile is certainly attracting attention. “According to sources contacted by Média Foot, Paris FC has already made inquiries about the former Manchester United striker! As we previously reported, PFC wants to offload Ciro Immobile, who hasn’t lived up to expectations, in order to recruit a world-class striker. “While Anthony Martial hasn’t exactly provided consistent performance over long seasons after unsuccessful stints in Spain (Sevilla), Greece (AEK Athens), and Mexico (Monterrey), the Frenchman remains highly regarded in his home country. Besides Paris FC, OGC Nice and Troyes have also expressed interest to his representatives.” Perhaps a return to familiar surroundings could be the catalyst to the mercurial frontman regaining his mojo. Anthony Martial: a story of unfulfilled potential Anthony Martial arrived at United under Louis van Gaal and fans instantly took him to heart following his debut goal against Liverpool. He scored 90 times for the three-time Champions League winners, but his story remained a case of unfulfilled potential as poor attitude and injuries ultimately spoiled his United career. Manchester United had one player in World Cup action on Monday. Amad made a splash for the Ivory Coast when he scored the winner versus Ecuador on Sunday. Noussair Mazraoui also impressed by shutting down Raphinha for Morocco against Brazil on Saturday. Unfortunately, Manuel Ugarte could not have a similar effect for Uruguay against Saudi Arabia. Poor form The Uruguay international has been a bit-part player all season for United, especially since Michael Carrick became manager. He played just 24 games for the Red Devils, totalling just 1005 minutes of action. Ugarte did not kick a football in anger for United since a 1-2 home defeat to Leeds United in the middle of April. As a result, it is fully expected that Ugarte will be sold this summer, with the likes of Galatasaray and Crystal Palace linked to the combative midfielder. Saudi Arabia game Ugarte played 72 minutes in Uruguay’s 1-1 draw with Saudi Arabia. He did not make any key passes or cross attempts in the match. He was safe with the ball, though, making 90% of his passing attempts in the match. He also made 50% of his long ball attempts in the game. Ugarte is not known for his goalscoring, having only scored two goals for United and one for Uruguay during his career. Nonetheless, he had two shots on goal during the match and almost scored a goal for his nation, but his effort rattled off the post. The midfielder did complete one dribble attempt but did not make any tackles in the match. What’s more, he only won 33% of his ground duels and none of his aerial contests in a disappointing midfield showing. Uruguay will hope to secure all three points when they take on Cape Verde on Sunday night at 23:00 BST. Manchester United are looking to revamp their midfield department with Michael Carrick eyeing as many as three new signings. The Red Devils have already agreed a deal with Atalanta for Ederson, while the English giants are currently locked in talks over a deal for Mateus Fernandes from West Ham. Despite stiff competition from Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Tottenham Hotspur, INEOS remain confident of sealing the deal for the Portugal international as early as this month. Deals for Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali have fallen through, which means United are currently scouring the market for their third signing. United in pole position for Ayyoub Bouaddi Bournemouth pair Alex Scott and Tyler Adams are on the club’s radar, even though the Cherries will make it as difficult for United as possible. This is why the co-owners have widened their search to players outside the English top flight. It was recently reported that Arsenal and Liverpool have opened talks with Lille for Ayyoub Bouaddi, but Football FanCast have a blockbuster update on the Moroccan. They claim that the Old Trafford side are in pole position and have opened club-to-club talks with the Ligue 1 giants for the 18-year-old. “Arsenal, PSG and Liverpool have all held talks with the camp of Morocco star Ayyoub Bouaddi. However, it is United who have launched their move in recent days and made the most concrete steps to sign the 18 year-old, Football FanCast sources understand. What a stunning World Cup debut for Ayyoub Bouaddi “Red Devils chiefs have enquired with Lille over the cost of the deal, and are the only suitor to make club-to-club contact so far. They believe Bouaddi, who was born in France, would be open to joining up with Carrick this summer. Lille are expected to demand upwards of £70m for the teenager.” The price tag is bound to be as high, judging from the Morocco international’s exploits against Brazil in their World Cup opener. He literally played Casemiro and Bruno Guimaraes off the park, with the United superstar forced to come off at half-time. United have been long-term admirers of the midfield wonderkid, whose price will only skyrocket as the tournament progresses. Lots of suitors for Ayyoub Bouaddi, whose price will only keep rising The balance and poise shown by Ayyoub Bouaddi on the ball and his work-rate off it heralded the birth of a new superstar in world football. Whether INEOS can pull off this deal remains to be seen. But fans will be excited nonetheless after reading this update. Feature image Kevin C.
