Advantage for United as €25m creative dynamo rejects Real Madrid’s contract offer – report

    advantage-for-united-as-e25m-creative-dynamo-rejects-real-madrid’s-contract-offer-–-report

Manchester United have been dealt a big transfer boost in their pursuit of Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Martin Baturina, who has reportedly turned down a contract offer from Real Madrid.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Baturina was “very high” on United’s list of potential midfield reinforcements.

It was subsequently stated that the Red Devils were plotting a swoop for Baturina, who was also mentioned as a player Real Madrid were keen on following a recommendation from fellow countryman Luka Modric.

Indeed, Baturina has been dubbed “the next Luka Modric” and is widely seen as one of the biggest talents to come out of Croatia in recent years.

It’s easy to see why the 21-year-old is in high demand. A creative playmaker with an eye for goal, Baturina has so far registered two goals and impressive seven assists in 17 appearances across all competitions for Dinamo Zagreb.

He is incredibly comfortable on the ball and is an excellent reader of the game. Baturina also possesses great dribbling ability and a superb first touch, which enable him to easily bring the ball under his spell. The creative genius is very good at breaking down deep blocks and has great vision.

According to Sky Germany reporter Patrick Berger, Real Madrid attempted to steal a march in the race to land Baturina by offering him a contract, but their efforts proved futile.

Berger wrote on X, “Sky Info: Croatia’s top talent Martin Baturina (21) has rejected an offer from Real Madrid!”

“The Spaniards lured him with a five-year contract, but the Royal’s plan also included loaning Baturina out within Spain for two years.”

“The attacking midfielder, who has a big fan and supporter in Luka Modrić (39), wants to be a permanent fixture in a top team from the summer onwards. Barca, Atlético and Manchester United are also interested.”

“Baturina plans to leave Dinamo Zagreb after the season and sees the Bundesliga as the perfect step. No release, price tag is around € 20-25m.”

Amidst uncertainty over the long-term future of Christian Eriksen – whose contract is expiring at the end of the season – Baturina would be a solid replacement for the Dane.

Solskjaer names the Premier League manager who seriously advised him against re-signing Ronaldo

Former Manchester United striker and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Kieran McKenna warned him against re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo in 2021.

Ronaldo made a heroic return to United in the summer of 2021, joining from Serie A giants Juventus.

He came back to the club 12 years after he first left to sign for Real Madrid. At the time, McKenna formed part of Solskjaer’s backroom staff.

Speaking to Norwegian outlet NRK, Solskjaer divulged that McKenna analysed Ronaldo’s last six matches in a Juventus shirt and warned against bringing him back to Old Trafford.

According to Solskjaer, McKenna harboured doubts about Ronaldo’s defensive capabilities and how these shortcomings would impact the team.

The club legend told NRK, “How are we going to defend ourselves? That’s the first thing he [McKenna] says.”

“It was probably a wrong choice for all of us. But we felt it was the right decision then and there.”

Ronaldo bagged nine goals in 13 appearances under Solskjaer, who was sacked a few months later. Meanwhile, Ronaldo left a year letter after the Red Devils terminated his contract.

McKenna stayed on as an assistant to Michael Carrick and Ralf Rangnick before departing to become Ipswich Town boss. He led the Tractor Boys to the Premier League and is set to come up against United on November 24, immediately after the ongoing international break.

In hindsight, McKenna was right and interestingly enough, it appears that new United head coach Ruben Amorim harboured the same concerns about Ronaldo. It’s believed that Amorim threatened to resign from his role at Sporting Lisbon if the Liga Portugal club explored the signing of Ronaldo.

Solskjaer insisted that he is proud of his time at United despite how it ended.

“I am proud of what I did. I have to say, I think it was a lot of good, and we were on our way to something very good. We came third and second, got a number of semi-finals, and unfortunately, we lost that final [against Villarreal].”

“That’s how I think about it, if we had won it, it could have been a completely different outcome.”

On what’s next for him, Solskjaer suggested he has effectively retired from football management but admitted he could be tempted back as a national team boss.

Regarding the prospect of stepping onto the international stage, he remarked, “I have reached a position where I can pick and choose, and I am lucky there. Financially, I don’t need anything.”

“It must be something exciting enough, together with the right people. But I feel so well now that there must be something that triggers me enough for me to choose to travel from Nordmore [in Norway].”

“I think that a national team could suit me, but then it can’t be on the other side of the globe.”

The 51-year-old explained that he’s rejected at least two job offers since departing United.

“He will go”: Club president gives huge transfer update on red-hot gunman wanted by United

          “he-will-go”:-club-president-gives-huge-transfer-update-on-red-hot-gunman-wanted-by-united

Sporting Lisbon president Frederico Varandas has indicated that reported Manchester United striker target Viktor Gyokeres will be allowed to leave if his release clause is triggered.

Gyokeres has been mentioned to be a player United are interested in and these links have only intensified following the club’s appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach.

Under Amorim, Gyokeres has exploded, cementing his reputation as one of the deadliest and most lethal finishers in Europe.

So far this term, the Sweden international has plundered a mind-boggling 16 goals and one assist in 11 Liga Portugal appearances.

Across all competitions, he has managed 23 goals and four assists. This tally includes a sensational hat trick against Manchester City last week.

United are not the only party believed to be keen on landing Gyokeres. He’s also on the radar of outfits like Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the 26-year-old can be obtained for a £63 million sum, which is £20 million less than the value of his release clause.

It’s understood that Gyokeres has a gentleman’s agreement in place with Sporting for him to leave if a big club were to swoop in for him.

This arrangement has now seemingly been confirmed by Sporting president Varandas.

Varandas said [via Fabrizio Romano on X], “I can’t promise anything.”

“If a club arrives and pays the release clause, if he wants to go… he will go.”

“But I do NOT think this will happen in January.”

United’s struggles in front of goal are well-known, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee proving to be uninspiring. Gyokeres could potentially be a solution in this regard and it helps that he understands and functions well in an Amorim system.

United approach dream Amorim target but Barcelona could make an offer “he can’t refuse” – report

            united-approach-dream-amorim-target-but-barcelona-could-make-an-offer-“he-can’t-refuse”-–-report

Manchester United could miss out on top transfer target Alphonso Davies, with Barcelona boss Hansi Flick pushing to reunite with the full-back.

Davies is one of the most highly-rated left-backs in Europe and has been a key part of several Bayern Munich managers’ plans in recent years. He has been a regular fixture under Vincent Kompany as well, with the Belgian coach trusting him to cover the position in 15 games across all competitions so far.

However, Davies’s days in Munich appear to be numbered, with the Bundesliga giants struggling to find an agreement with his camp over a new deal.

The 24-year-old Canadian star has entered the final 10 months of his contract at Bayern.

According to TEAMtalk, there have been “long negotiations” between the two parties, and Bayern’s “final offer” is already on the table. They are not expected to make another proposal to Davies, who currently earns £130k per week.

As things stand, he will be free to depart Allianz Arena at the end of the season, and it is understood he has “plenty of offers around Europe.”

Real Madrid and United are among the clubs interested in the player, having already reached out to his camp to understand the “conditions of a deal.”

The Bayern star, known for his incredible pace and dribbling ability on the flanks, has the potential to be an ideal wing-back in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3, especially since there are plenty of question marks on Luke Shaw’s fitness.

As such, United’s alleged approach makes perfect sense. However, Barcelona have now joined the race and they might have an edge due to Flick’s history with the player.

The German tactician managed Davies at Bayern, and has reportedly requested Barca to bring him to Spain by making an offer “he can’t refuse”.

It is added that the Catalan outfit believe  they have a “chance of landing the full-back and that he would be keen on the move.”

While Barcelona seem to be stepping up their efforts to sign Davies, United reportedly see his wage demand, thought to be around £240k-a-week, as a “sticking point” in their pursuit.

“From what I’m hearing…“: Fabrizio Romano explains outcome of transfer window discussions between Amorim and Ineos

              “from-what-i’m-hearing…“:-fabrizio-romano-explains-outcome-of-transfer-window-discussions-between-amorim-and-ineos

Ruben Amorim has already hinted at the kind of players he wants Manchester United to sign, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Amorim is finally here. The Sporting CP legend arrived at United’s Carrington training complex on Monday afternoon.

The new United boss did not take too long to shake things, as within hours of his arrival, United confirmed Ruud van Nistelrooy, Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel have all left the club.

The November international break has started so Amorim will have to wait a while before he gets to coach all his players and make decisions on their long-term futures at Old Trafford.

Similarly, the club’s hierarchy and their new head coach are expected to take their time before deciding on specific transfer targets to pursue in the upcoming winter window.

While speaking on his YouTube channel on Monday, Romano said: “What I can tell you guys is that deciding on targets is something they will do in the next weeks. They will take their time, probably it’s going to be December.”

The journalist further added that Amorim wants some time to work with his players on the pitch in order to implement his tactical ideas at Carrington.

However, Romano did shine a light on Amorim’s general plan concerning transfers, stating: “From what I’m hearing, the first indication from Ruben Amorim to Man Utd directors is, ‘We need to bring players with intensity.’

“These were the crucial words he mentioned in the opening talks and meetings he had with United.”

Amorim’s Sporting side consistently press high, while his two midfielders are left to cover plenty of ground. Further, the wide-backs under the Portuguese tactician are expected to frequently join the attack. Apart from technical ability, all these roles require players with immense engine.

Interestingly, earlier on Monday, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Mancunians are interested in Al-Ittihad midfielder N’Golo Kanté.

The former Leicester City and Chelsea man epitomises intensity and energy on the pitch, but the challenge of being a part of a new project could prove to be too much for the 33-year-old.

Ruben Amorim arrived at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex on Monday afternoon, to officially take over the managerial reins at the club.

Amorim was appointed on November 1 as Erik ten Hag’s replacement, following the Dutchman’s sacking late last month.

United triggered his release clause but Sporting Lisbon only released him after Sunday’s 4-2 comeback win over Braga.

The Red Devils issued a statement relaying that their new head coach boarded a flight from Beja Airport in Portugal to Manchester in the morning.

United note that Amorim was received at Carrington by chief executive Omar Berrada, who gave him a warm embrace as he starts work at Old Trafford.

Also present to greet him were sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox, as seen in the images below.

Amorim’s first match as United gaffer will be on November 24, when the Reds make their way to Portman Road to take on Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town.

He has just under two weeks to prepare for that game.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the 39-year-old will not be able to oversee training sessions with the players due to a visa issue.

United are yet to receive the green light although that is expected to arrive swiftly.

Meanwhile, the club recently confirmed that Ruud van Nistelrooy, who served as caretaker boss for the last four games, has permanently left.

Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel have also parted ways with United.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs [via X], they will be replaced by Carlos Fernandes, Adélio Cândido, Jorge Vital, Emanuel Ferro and sports scientist Paulo Barreira.

Fernandes, Candido, Vital, Ferro and Barreira worked with Amorim at Sporting.

United ready to swoop for “untouchable” Serie A star who was on fire against PL giants recently – report

                  united-ready-to-swoop-for-“untouchable”-serie-a-star-who-was-on-fire-against-pl-giants-recently-–-report

After a disastrous start to the season, Ruud van Nistelrooy has steadied the Manchester United ship and Sunday’s 3-0 win over Leicester City means the Red Devils are only four points behind the top-four.

The interim manager’s tenure has resulted in quite a few big stars regaining form but with Ruben Amorim’s entry, a lot is expected to change.

Starting with the formation, with the 20-time English league champions set to play with a back-three, something that quite a few current stars are not used to.

And that means Amorim is on the lookout for players who are comfortable with that system and Inter Live have revealed that the Old Trafford side are looking at Inter Milan’s Yann Bisseck.

                  Bisseck impressing for Inter

The 23-year-old has improved leaps and bounds since his 2023 move to the Serie A and the Nerazzurri are keen on agreeing a new deal with the German in order to ward off potential suitors.

He has made 11 appearances this season and received plaudits for the instrumental role he played in the Milan giants’ 1-0 against Arsenal where the Germany U21 international cancelled out an in-form Bukayo Saka.

Apart from the three-time European champions, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are also looking at the centre-back with Inter not willing to come to the negotiating table unless someone places a €40 million bid.

“Appreciation has also arrived from abroad. And especially from England, where many newspapers have highlighted the way in which Bisseck managed to cancel out Saka.

“And, as they often do, the British have already begun to link him to various Premier League teams. For Inter, the boy is untouchable. Unless a high offer arrives.

                  United enter the race

“It should therefore take around 40 million to snatch him from the current team. Tottenham could come forward. And then there are those who bring up Chelsea and United.”

Julian Nagelsmann is said to have been impressed with the former FC Koln star’s rise and a Germany senior team call-up is pretty close, which should see his value skyrocket even further.

The player has already come out and said that he wants to agree a new deal with Inter despite the criticism he has faced from certain quarters back in Milan.

Simone Inzaghi is a fan and it could be a tricky and costly operation for United should they really want the 23-year-old.

Van Nistelrooy axed in stunning decision by new boss Ruben Amorim – The Athletic

                    van-nistelrooy-axed-in-stunning-decision-by-new-boss-ruben-amorim-–-the-athletic

Manchester United fans will not see former club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy returning to the club’s backroom setup, as manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed he won’t be part of his coaching staff.

Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic reported the news as Amorim began his official duties at Carrington, the club’s training ground, earlier today.

United have released an official statement confirming the same.

They also stated that assistant coaches Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel would also be departing, with a complete update on the first-team coaching staff to follow.

Van Nistelrooy initially returned to Man United over the summer to join Erik ten Hag’s coaching team.

However, after Ten Hag’s dismissal on October 28, the Dutchman assumed an interim leadership role and guided the team through four unbeaten matches.

Under Van Nistelrooy’s stewardship, United achieved two victories over Leicester City, one in the Premier League and another in the Carabao Cup, a win over PAOK in the Europa League, and a draw against Chelsea.

Amorim addressed the coaching change on Sunday, revealing plans to speak with Van Nistelrooy about his future role, noting, “I am very clear, and I will tell you like it is.”

It is a ruthless decision from Amorim, especially considering The Dutchman’s emotional connection with the fans.

Amorim has made it clear that he values a unified vision and is prepared to make tough calls to implement it.

This decisive action reflects a strong leadership style and an intention to reshape United according to his philosophy.

The Portuguese’s bold move could mark the beginning of a new era for a club that needs direction. It could bring fresh purpose and stability to Old Trafford.

Van Nistelrooy given the boot by Ruben Amorim after talks with new Manchester United manager

Ruud van Nistelrooy will leave Manchester United following Ruben Amorim’s arrival as head coach.

Van Nistelrooy returned to Old Trafford in the summer to work as assistant to Erik ten Hag, and was promoted to take interim charge of the team following his compatriot’s sacking at the end of October.

Two wins over Leicester, victory over PAOK in the Europa League and a draw with Chelsea ensured an unbeaten four-match stint in charge of the Red Devils for Van Nistelrooy.

Amorim was named Ten Hag’s permanent successor on November 1 and will take charge of his first Premier League game against Ipswich after the international break on November 24.

The Portuguese coach said on Sunday he planned to hold talks with Van Nistelrooy regarding his United future on Monday.

Asked by The Athletic about Van Nistelrooy’s role, the new United head coach said: “About a legend of the club. He did a great job. I have to talk with him tomorrow (Monday). Then I will explain everything. I am very clear and I will tell you like it is. Let’s wait until tomorrow.”

United have now confirmed that Van Nistelrooy won’t be part of it, and neither will four further members of Ten Hag’s team.

A United statement said: “Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club. Ruud rejoined in the summer and has taken charge of the team for the past four matches as interim head coach. Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend.

“We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford. Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel have also departed and we wish them all well for the future.”

Amorim travelled to Manchester with five members of his own staff. Coaches Carlos Fernandes, Adélio Candido and Emanuel Ferro, goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital and sports scientist Paulo Barreira.

Van Nistelrooy said ahead of United’s 3-0 win over Leicester on Sunday that he was “proud” of what he’s achieved in a short period in charge.

“It was a special period, it is still. I call it an important period because it was important to get through the four games as well as we could. I think we’ve done very well so far,” Van Nistelrooy told reporters.

“The players reacted really well in the games. The focus now is to show that on Sunday.

“I don’t know if it will be very emotional. I’m pragmatic as well, although I’m very proud to be able to fulfil this.”

Van Nistelrooy added that Amorim’s arrival hadn’t changed his mind, he wanted to stay on at Manchester United.

“The appetite to build further within this club is stronger than that (being my own man),” Van Nistelrooy added.

“I made a deliberate decision to step into this role for two seasons and take it from there. Four games haven’t changed that sentiment.

“That’s why I said from the beginning that’s what my intentions were after my interim job.”
