“I’ve not set hopes or expectations”: Ten Hag favourite unsure of what the future holds under Amorim

    “i’ve-not-set-hopes-or-expectations”:-ten-hag-favourite-unsure-of-what-the-future-holds-under-amorim

It has been a roller-coaster two-and-a-half years for Christian Eriksen in Manchester United colours. His first season was a grand success, with the Dane forging a formidable partnership with Casemiro in the middle of the park.

Erik ten Hag brought both to the club in his first season and the Red Devils clinched the Carabao Cup and qualified for the Champions League with plenty of fans excited to see what the future had in store.

But everything came crashing down in his sophomore season, with the club struggling to adapt to his chaos ball with the Dane hardly getting a look-in as Kobbie Mainoo took his place.

Despite a dismal start to the current season, the 32-year-old was once again trusted by the Dutchman and while his individual performances were quite impressive, the club’s poor form meant Ten Hag was relieved of his duties.

    Eriksen’s future

An injury meant interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy could not call upon his services and with Ruben Amorim taking over permanently, the Denmark international’s future remains up in the air.

His contract with the 20-time English league champions ends in 2025 and despite four goals and three assists this term, Amorim wants younger players who can handle the intensity of his footballing philosophy.

The former Tottenham Hotspur star, currently out on international duty, was asked about his future and he confirmed that he is yet to hear from the club regarding the same.

“I haven’t focused on it yet, and I haven’t heard anything from the club,” he was quoted as saying by Tipsbladet. “Right now it’s just about football, and then we have to see where we stand in January and for that matter in the summer.”

    Eriksen focussed on impressing Amorim

Amorim will have a say in contract renewals and he will give each player a clean slate and judge them after seeing them in action.

And the experienced midfielder also reiterated the same message, saying that his job was to train well and then leave it up the new head coach.

“As a football player, you just turn up and train, and then it is the coach who decides the team at the weekend. I have not set my hopes or expectations.”

Eriksen could still play a major role this season owing to Kobbie Mainoo’s injury and Mason Mount’s poor injury record. But his future seems to lie away from Old Trafford as Amorim and INEOS want to build for the future.

Amorim has found “generational talent” at United who could be a perfect fit for his 3-4-3 system – report

      amorim-has-found-“generational-talent”-at-united-who-could-be-a-perfect-fit-for-his-3-4-3-system-–-report

New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has plenty of faith in Leny Yoro’s talents, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The Frenchman, considered Kylian Mbappe of centre-backs on the back of his incredible stint with Lille in Ligue 1, was one of the most sought-after players during the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool were all reported to be keen on luring the 19-year-old. However, INEOS made a statement of intent by securing his services for United in a deal believed to be worth €62 million, plus a potential €8m in add-ons.

The France under-21 international instantly made a promising impression on his debut in pre-season, but an injury against Arsenal in the United States left him on the sidelines.

Erik ten Hag, who lost his job in October, couldn’t rely on his much-hyped signing but the youngster has now returned to first-team training and is expected to be available for selection under Amorim after the international break.

The Portuguese is understood to be looking forward to working with Yoro, who is yet to make his competitive debut for the Red Devils.

According to Romano, the ex-Sporting CP manager and his staff consider the centre-back “one of the most interesting players to develop for Man United’s long term project.”

The Italian journalist further added: “He’s considered a generational talent by the club and Amorim with his staff fully agree on that.”

Amorim’s 3-4-3 system is built on strong defensive foundations and relies heavily on central defenders to progress the play from deep.

In that regard, the 6′ 3″ tall talent, who is comfortable in possession and is very good at covering wide channels, has all the skill sets to cement himself as an integral part of the new manager’s lineup.

Yoro is not the only United player who is highly rated by Amorim. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report suggesting the 39-year-old head coach admires Mason Mount.

The England international struggled to cement his place under Ten Hag, but Amorim is planning to put Mount “at the centre of his plans.”

Video: Fabrizio Romano claims Amorim will axe this in-form Ten Hag signing who cannot handle “intensity”

        video:-fabrizio-romano-claims-amorim-will-axe-this-in-form-ten-hag-signing-who-cannot-handle-“intensity”

New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is expected to do away with Christian Eriksen in the name of midfield intensity.

That’s according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who says that “intensity” is the name of the game for the Portuguese head coach, and warns that the 32-year-old Dane is unlikely to fit the bill.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “I don’t think Christian Eriksen will continue at Manchester United under Amorim beyond this season.”

The Italian journalist put heavy emphasis on Amorim’s style of play, which will focus on energy and dynamism.

And while Amorim will want some time to work with his current players as he decides what is required in the transfer market, Romano affirmed that “the first indication from Ruben Amorim to Manchester United directors, to Manchester United management, is we need to bring players with intensity.

“This was the crucial word he mentioned in the opening talks and meetings he had with Manchester United.”

Inevitably, this casts doubt on some of the current crop of United players. Romano points to players with “lots of quality, big history, big personality” such as Casemiro and Eriksen, but questioned whether they are suitable for the Portuguese manager’s style of play.

So, Romano said, “the expectation is for Manchester United to bring in fresh legs from 2025.”

He added that United will not be signing any players from Sporting Lisbon in January, with particular reference to in-form striker Viktor Gyökeres, but added that this may not be the case in the summer.

Eriksen was a key part of Erik ten Hag’s first season success at Old Trafford, forming an effective pivot with Casemiro in the middle of the park.

But his form fell off badly last season, with a summer exit widely expected.

However, when the transfer window closed Eriksen was still at Old Trafford, and he has been one of the surprise success stories of the season so far.

Only Alejandro Garnacho has scored more goals than Eriksen in all competitions, and the 32-year-old’s contributions have been incredibly valuable in the Europa League in particular.

His strikes secured points for United in their 1-1 draws against FC Twente and Fenerbahce, and he assisted two of the goals in the 3-3 draw at Porto.

Man Utd transfer: Euro giants ‘offer’ shock cash-plus-player deal with INEOS ‘open’ to accepting bid

          man-utd-transfer:-euro-giants-‘offer’-shock-cash-plus-player-deal-with-ineos-‘open’-to-accepting-bid

According to reports, Manchester United have received a cash-plus-player ‘offer’ for Alejandro Garnacho and are ‘open’ to letting him leave.

The 20-year-old had spells at Getafe and Atletico Madrid before he joined Man Utd in 2020 for a fee in the region of £420,000.

Garnacho quickly progressed through the ranks at Old Trafford and has already made over 100 appearances for the Premier League giants across all competitions.

The Argentina international has generally been one of Man Utd’s most consistent performers in recent years but was criticised after his muted celebration against Leicester City in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final game.

There are fears that the winger will not fit into Ruben Amorim’s system as Paul Scholes thinks he is one of four players “not right” for the new Man Utd head coach.

The uncertainty surrounding Garnacho has led to interest from former club Atletico Madrid, who – according to a report in Spain – have submitted an ‘offer’ to re-sign him.

READ: Five PL moves for Ruud van Nistelrooy post-Man Utd include replacing Ange Postecoglou at Spurs

The report claims Man Utd are ‘open to listening to offers’ for Garnacho and could be handed Pablo Barrios in exchange.

The 21-year-old has made 69 appearances for Atletico Madrid across all competitions and has made seven La Liga starts this season. Most of his outings have come as a centre-midfielder, but he is capable of playing in various positions.

          The report claims.

‘Atletico Madrid are still working on their squad planning and, according to various sources, one of the red-and-whites’ objectives is to sign Alejandro Garnacho.

‘Atletico Madrid have offered 40 million (£33m) euros for the player, including Pablo Barrios in the deal for the young Argentine. On the other hand, Manchester United expect an offer of 60 million euros (£50m) for the player, again including Pablo Barrios.’

Man Utd have made a miserable start to the new season and could look to be busy when the transfer window opens in January.

A report from Football Transfers claims United have ‘returned’ for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and AFC Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.

‘We understand Ineos are very keen on Branthwaite, believing that he can be a key figure at the club as the first-choice left-sided central defender.

‘However, the Toffees see Branthwaite as their most valuable player and maintain an asking price of above €70 million ahead of next year’s transfer windows.

‘Furthermore, sources inform us that United are monitoring Milos Kerkez at Bournemouth. Even though Luke Shaw is back fit, there is real concern over his future at Old Trafford given the amount of injuries he’s endured. Tyrell Malacia is getting up to speed, too, but he is another whose future at the club is under question.

‘The Cherries are bracing for approaches for several of their players next year, including Illia Zabarnyi, so it’s thought that United will have to act fast for the Hungary international.’

Video: Amorim suffers first injury setback as highly-touted United midfield ace spotted in crutches

            video:-amorim-suffers-first-injury-setback-as-highly-touted-united-midfield-ace-spotted-in-crutches

Manchester United’s midfield roared back to life under former interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy but new head coach Ruben Amorim wants to freshen up things.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are likely to leave in 2025 and the Portuguese has already reiterated to the hierarchy that future transfer business must be conducted so that players can handle the intensity his system requires.

The new co-owners are planning to address the lack of goals via the transfer market but a solution for the middle of the pitch could come from the academy with plenty tipping summer arrival Sekou Kone to breakthrough this season.

The Malian was registered in United’s Premier League squad but the club were prepared to afford the 18-year-old time to settle into his new surroundings.

Kone’s start to life at United

He made two appearances before Tuesday, one in the Youth League and the other in PL2 with his most recent appearance coming in the EFL Trophy against Huddersfield last night.

And after a promising beginning, Kone seemed to lose his way and a few sloppy touches meant he was eventually booked and one of his loose touches invited a heavy challenge from the opposition.

He had to be eventually substituted in the 42nd minute as a result of the knock and was spotted leaving the John Smith’s Stadium in crutches.

His team also struggled and in the end, lost 1-4 against a strong League One side.

            Bad injury

The midfielder was also seen wearing a protective boot and it could indicate a major injury issue that could keep him out of action for sometime.

The U17 Mali international moved to Old Trafford from Guidars FC and his signing came about as a result of INEOS’ youth-first approach which also saw the Red Devils sign plenty of top talents in the summer.

Kone is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also play further forward and caught everyone’s attention with his performances in the U17 World Cup where Mali finished third.

He had trained with the first team back when Erik ten Hag was in charge and fans will be praying that the injury is not too serious and he can come back soon.

Serie A giants involved in three-way transfer tussle for long-serving United defender – report

              serie-a-giants-involved-in-three-way-transfer-tussle-for-long-serving-united-defender-–-report

Juventus are considering making a move for Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof this summer.

Having arrived at Man United in 2017, Lindelof has struggled to rise through the ranks at Old Trafford, never becoming a regular starter for the club.

This season has proven no different, with the Swede making just four Premier League appearances this season, all of which were off the bench, making for a combined 58 minutes. (Transfermarkt)

Clearly not hitting his heights at United, The Peoples Person discussed reports claiming that Lindelof will likely leave the club at the end of the current season.

If recent reports are to be believed, Lindelof will become the latest player to leave United as a free agent.

Today, Tuttosport reported that Juventus are considering making a move for Lindelof this summer.

“Among the various profiles recommended to the Old Lady to replace the injured Gleison Bremer, Victor Lindelof has emerged, whose contract with Manchester United expires on June 30 and who has so far taken the field sparingly,” the Italian outlet reported.

“The former Benfica player fared a little better in the Europa League, where he played twice, collecting 145 minutes on the pitch. In short, his adventure around Old Trafford seems to be coming to an end. For this reason, a possible early departure cannot be ruled out, should a top-level solution emerge.”

The report claimed that a deal between Juventus and Lindelof appears likely due to the player’s representatives having strong relations with Cristiano Giuntoli, the sporting director of Juventus.

Still, even if Juventus express their interest in the Swedish defender, United may be spoilt for choice if other reports are to be believed.

AC Milan has been linked with Lindelof, with the Serie A giants poised to make a move for him in January when he becomes free to negotiate with foreign clubs.

Former United manager Jose Mourinho is also believed to be interested in reuniting with Lindelof by luring him to Fenerbahce.

With Ruben Amorim recently taking charge at United, it will be down to the Portuguese manager to determine what he wants to do with Lindelof, largely depending on his plans for the club.

Manchester United have a new manager, and as is often the case, everybody has an opinion on the man to lead the side out.

With Ruben Amorim taking over from Erik ten Hag, the Portuguese head coach started his new post on Monday this week, with the appointment dividing opinion with some not having a clue of Amorim’s background, while others believe he is the best thing since sliced bread.

Amorim led Sporting Lisbon to two league titles, ending a 19-year drought during a period where the Portuguese first division was dominated by rivals Porto and Benfica.

Former Sporting and Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao believes United have hired one of the best in the world.

Coentrao said: “Sporting have lost a very important figure, but I am thrilled for Ruben. Manchester United have gained the best coach in the world… by far.”

The full-back played just 25 times on loan for Sporting, though understands the league well having made 52 appearances for Benfica, while playing for Rio Ave across five different spells.

After the departure of Amorim, Sporting confirmed their B team manager Joao Pereira would be taking over in place of the new United boss.

On Periera, Coentrao said: “Ruben is Ruben, Joao is Joao. Ruben has already proven himself and now he will make us proud in another country. Ruben cared about Sporting until the last second and left the team very well prepared. The team is ready and whoever goes there has to be intelligent and finish the work that Ruben did. With this team, without a doubt, Sporting has to be champion.”

Amorim faces a tough challenge ahead with United currently sat 13th in the Premier League, though they are just four points off Arsenal in fourth place.

The early season has seen the likes of Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Fulham all starting strong and sitting in the top half of the table, but Amorim will be looking to make an instant impact at Old Trafford.

His first game in charge of the Reds is away to Ipswich Town against Kieran McKenna, a man who was reportedly in the run in to replace Ten Hag in the summer when United had been looking to part ways with the Dutchman.

Amorim’s announcement saw him become the first ever head coach in the club’s history, and at 39 years of age, he is the eighth man in his 30’s to be appointed by United, but the youngest since Wilf McGuiness, who was 31 when succeeding Sir Matt Busby, in 1969.

United eyeing game-changing transfer for brilliant 22 year old midfielder labelled ‘the next Camavinga’ – report

                  united-eyeing-game-changing-transfer-for-brilliant-22-year-old-midfielder-labelled-‘the-next-camavinga’-–-report

Manchester United have reportedly set their sights on Daniel Svensson, an emerging defensive star from Sweden who plays for Danish club FC Nordsjaelland.

The 22 year old left back, whose strong performances have turned heads across Europe, is attracting interest from several top Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal.

With the January transfer window approaching, United are among the clubs closely monitoring Svensson’s development.

Known for his versatility, Svensson primarily plays left-back but has proven capable of playing multiple positions in defence and midfield.

Scouts often label him ‘the next Camavinga’ or ‘the next Zubimendi’ due to his versatility.

This trait has become essential in modern football, and the young Swede’s standout season earned him his first senior cap for Sweden in October, a move that has only intensified attention from clubs in England, France, Spain, and Germany.

His role has varied significantly; while he initially played as a left-back, he’s also seen action in central midfield and even at centre-back, adding to his appeal as a versatile asset.

United have reportedly been present among scouts from the English ‘Big Six’ who have monitored Svensson’s matches in Denmark this season.

Although Nordsjaelland recently extended his contract until 2027, the Danish club could be open to offers by summer 2025.

Despite his rising profile, Svensson’s valuation remains reasonable compared to players in more prominent leagues, making him a more attainable target for Premier League clubs.

While United already have options at left-back, the team’s ongoing defensive challenges might cause the club to consider Svensson as a future addition to bolster squad depth.

This is especially true considering the injury history of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Some reports speculate Svensson may make an intermediate move to a mid-table Premier League team like Brentford or Brighton before eventually landing at a top-six club.

Nonetheless, United’s early interest signals their intent to monitor the player’s development, especially as competition from rivals like Liverpool builds.

United eye sensational January swoop for Chelsea’s midfield maestro – report

                    united-eye-sensational-january-swoop-for-chelsea’s-midfield-maestro-–-report

Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in a January transfer for Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, according to the latest reports.

This potential deal is noteworthy, given that Dewsbury-Hall only joined Chelsea from Leicester City this past summer.

Following his successful spell at Leicester City, the 26-year-old midfielder was initially expected to make a significant impact under Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.

However, his transition has been challenging, with limited opportunities to showcase his skills at Stamford Bridge.

Amid these difficulties, sources suggest Chelsea may be open to allowing Dewsbury-Hall to seek new opportunities.

The situation has reportedly put United on high alert.

Manager Ruben Amorim is potentially seeking midfield reinforcements, and Dewsbury-Hall could be a viable option as the club looks to add depth to its roster.

Christian Eriksen, one of United’s veteran midfielders, has seen reduced playing time due to age, which could create an opening for Dewsbury-Hall to contribute soon.

Although Dewsbury-Hall has struggled to replicate his Leicester City form with Chelsea, his record speaks to a player with potential.

Known for his creativity, the England international was a standout in the Championship with Leicester, where he emerged as an assist leader and demonstrated his ability to perform in the Premier League.

Other clubs, including Newcastle, are also evaluating Dewsbury-Hall’s availability.

A loan option could be a low-risk, high-reward arrangement, potentially allowing the midfielder to regain his confidence and adapt to another top Premier League squad.

Chelsea fans may feel disappointed if Dewsbury-Hall is permitted to depart so soon after his arrival. His move to Chelsea initially looked promising due to his history with Maresca at Leicester, yet his development at Stamford Bridge has been slower than anticipated.

Manchester United‘s Under-21s were in action on Tuesday night at the John Smith’s Stadium, where they were beaten comfortably by Huddersfield Town in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy. It was quite literally men against boys in Town’s 4-1 triumph, but what should illicit most United pride is the vocal away crowd that turned out to support their next generation.

Almost 600 fans made the short trip over from Manchester, singing loud and proud all night, enjoying friendly song exchanges with the youthful Town support to the left of the away end.

United have long packed out allocations across the country and Europe, and though the away stand wasn’t quite full on Tuesday night, those that made the journey deserve some credit.

For many, it was an opportunity to get their weekly football fix with the senior team out of action at the weekend due to the international break. For those much younger, an opportunity to know what it feels like to travel and support their team where tickets are far easier, and cheaper, to buy in comparison to senior games.

It may come as a surprise to many, but United fans travelling to support the youngsters is nothing new. They did just that earlier this season in the same competition when the Under-21s played away at Barnsley. Don’t forget, Old Trafford was filled with 67,000 fans in 2022 when the Under-18s were crowned FA Youth Cup winners after beating Nottingham Forest.

On that particular day, the United faithful saw a glimpse of their future, with two young lads called Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo both standing out on the night. Fast-forward two years and they guided the senior team to FA Cup success, both netting at Wembley in May.

The club’s Carrington academy base has long been a talent factory for the youth; the carousel has churned out stars like Marcus Rashford in recent years. And if Gary Neville didn’t mention it enough, the Class of ’92 also came through the same system.

Habeeb Ogunneye, Jayce Fitzgerald and Harry Amass, all of whom were involved against Huddersfield, have enjoyed some degree of involvement with the first team in the last 12 months.

On the final whistle, the defeated youngsters trudged over to applaud those that came out to support them. There’s no guarantee, but those who go on to enjoy a career at United will quickly learn that the away support will always do exactly what it says on the tin: support.

The era of social media has given a platform to YouTubers and influencers who find it easy to hurl abuse at players and spark narratives which are backed by their thousands of followers. Garnacho faced exactly that scenario ahead of last week’s clash against PAOK in the Europa League when a fan was heard giving the Argentina international advice on what he should be doing on the pitch, all while streaming his footage.

Garnacho was then visibly subdued in his celebration of a goal against Leicester, with captain Bruno Fernandes later revealing that the 20-year-old felt he had lost the support of some of the fans.

This came despite the Old Trafford crowd being vocal in their efforts to get behind the winger, who has adopted club legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘Viva Ronaldo’ song. The 593 at Huddersfield could be heard singing ‘Viva Garnacho’ on Tuesday night too. A youngster who joined from Spain during the Covid lockdown will have learned a lot about United’s real fanbase this week.

United are now onto their sixth permanent manager since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in Ruben Amorim. All five of his predecessors would probably be in agreement that the only thing they received from match-goers was support.

The culture around United’s fanbase is stark compared to other clubs. Booing performances at half-time and full-time has slowly crept into Old Trafford in recent years, but managers have been supported until their final day.

Jose Mourinho, a man who destroyed any semblance of dressing-room harmony, was supported until the very end. The Portuguese manager’s name was even sung at Old Trafford when he returned to the ground at a later date while on punditry duty with Sky Sports. Everybody had their own opinion on the recently sacked Erik ten Hag, but he too was backed by the fans until his final day.

If the incoming Amorim wants to know what to expect from match-going United fans, he would only have to watch the highlights of the Under 21s clash and note something other than the return of Tyrell Malacia.
