United legend names two things Amorim must urgently do to hit the ground running at Old Trafford

    united-legend-names-two-things-amorim-must-urgently-do-to-hit-the-ground-running-at-old-trafford

Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic has named two things that Ruben Amorim must urgently do to hit the ground running at Old Trafford.

United confirmed Amorim’s appointment as Erik ten Hag’s successor on November 1.

He arrived at the club on Monday, to officially assume his new role. A day later, Amorim was pictured meeting some of his players including Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Toby Collyer and Mason Mount.

Amorim certainly has his work cut out for him, with United currently sitting in 13th position in the Premier League, having gained just 15 points from a possible 33.

Vidic, who won 15 trophies with United, spoke to Sky Sports and said that Amorim must get recruitment right and foster positive relations with his players, the media and insiders at the club.

The former Serbia international told Sky about Amorim, “I don’t know much about him. [But] obviously, I know he was very successful at Sporting Lisbon.”

“He seems like a very positive guy and I think he has a winning mentality. He played at a top level. He was a decent player. He has a good background.”

“But, for me, what managers and coaches need in the modern game is, first of all, good recruitment, and an ability to deal with the players, media, and even with the people in the club. I hope that he is the right fit for the club.”

Vidic added, “A job needs to be done in the next few transfer windows. Not just players they are going to bring in – I think some players definitely have to try and find new teams.”

When asked about United’s decision to sack Ten Hag, Vidic responded, “It’s difficult to say whether it was right or not. But definitely we have to say that Erik ten Hag got support from the club over the years. The club invested a lot of money in the philosophy of Ten Hag, but if you look at the results, my expectation and the expectation of the fans was much higher.”

“But I’m not sure it was just a problem with the coach. I think we have to look at the bigger picture. Other things need to be right to help the coach perform and give the best of his ability. Sometimes you don’t need the best player in the world to play for your club, but you need the right character.”

The 43-year-old explained that consistency is key when playing for the biggest clubs in the world.

United are back in action on November 24, when they travel to Portman Road to face Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town.

“We didn’t expect…”: National team boss issues very concerning injury update on key United star

      “we-didn’t-expect…”:-national-team-boss-issues-very-concerning-injury-update-on-key-united-star

Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has given a concerning injury update on Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez as concerns heighten over his fitness.

Martinez reported for international duty with the reigning World Cup winners ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru.

However, he had to withdraw from the team due to a “knock” he suffered while playing for United.

The Albiceleste sent him back to England for further assessment. It’s believed that Martinez picked up the issue during the club’s 3-0 win over Leicester City last weekend.

He was on the pitch for all 90 minutes including added time, despite needing treatment in the second half after colliding with an opponent.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Martinez was examined by Argentina’s medical staff, who discovered he was dealing with pain that rendered him unable to “function normally.”

Scaloni has now given more information on this matter. He said [via Manchester Evening News], “We didn’t expect the case of Lisandro.”

“We saw that he had suffered a blow to his back, but apparently, he had no problem, just pain.”

“When he arrived here, the pain increased a bit, he underwent tests and is not fit to be here.”

Martinez has started 10 of the Red Devils’ 11 Premier League games this term and will certainly be hoping to be fully fit and available for Ruben Amorim’s first match against Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town on November 24.

United have been without Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire for a number of weeks now and can’t afford to lose another centre-back.

However, it’s believed that Yoro is close to making his return to action, with the Frenchman set for a big role under Amorim.

PL club turned down Amorim for ex-Real Madrid boss, now they are “tearing their hair out” – report

        pl-club-turned-down-amorim-for-ex-real-madrid-boss,-now-they-are-“tearing-their-hair-out”-–-report

West Ham United are ruing the decision to overlook Ruben Amorim in favour of Julen Lopetegui, as per Fichajes.

Manchester United’s decision to part ways with Erik ten Hag mid-season, despite the side’s atrocious form, left many surprised as it raised questions concerning his replacement, not least because it is always considered difficult to lure a top manager at this stage of the campaign.

However, INEOS showed an impressive level of decisiveness and swiftness to secure the services of Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim.

Amorim steered Sporting to two Primeira Liga titles and the Lisbon-based outfit were flying this campaign as well, having won all of their opening 11 league games.

Their 4-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League further strengthened Amorim’s reputation as one of the most exciting coaches in European football.

While his arrival in Manchester has drastically improved mood of the United fanbase, it has allegedly left West Ham fans and directors questioning the club’s summer move.

According to Fichajes, the Hammers “discarded” Amorim in the summer. Despite considering the 39-year-old tactician as David Moyes’s replacement, they eventually decided to place their trust in Lopetegui, owing to his experience.

However, it is suggested that after seeing the expectation that Amorim’s arrival has generated at Old Trafford, West Ham are “tearing their hair out”.

Lopetegui is facing lot of scrutiny due to West Ham’s poor start to the season. They sit 14th in the Premier League table, three points behind the Red Devils.

It is understood that some figures at the club now consider the choice to appoint the ex-Real Madrid manager over Amorim as “hasty”.

West Ham are not the only club to have been linked with Amorim in recent times. Late in October, The Peoples Person relayed a report suggesting Manchester City were interested in him. However, the former midfielder was not willing to wait to replace Pep Guardiola at a later date.

According to ESPN, Amorim was also on Liverpool’s radar, but the Merseyside outfit made a decision to go with Arne Slot. One of the reasons behind their move was the then-Sporting boss’s loyalty to his 3-4-3 formation. It will be interesting to see how the current United squad would fit into his system.

Ruben Amorim has already told £70m United star to look for a new club in January – report

          ruben-amorim-has-already-told-70m-united-star-to-look-for-a-new-club-in-january-–-report

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro may be on the verge of departing Old Trafford as the January transfer window approaches.

The club is contemplating a roster overhaul under the potential guidance of new head coach Rúben Amorim.

Amorim’s arrival may require substantial lineup changes, potentially leading to the departure of seasoned midfielder Casemiro.

Recent reports from BBC Sport (via Sport) indicate that the manager has already advised the player to contemplate his options for January.

The January transfer window is renowned for catalysing lineup modifications, particularly when a new coach with a novel perspective and strategy assumes the helm.

For United, a roster overhaul is particularly pressing due to their financial resources and underwhelming performance on the field this season.

Consequently, several players may find their positions precarious, and Casemiro, a high-profile acquisition, appears to be among the most prominent names at risk.

The former Real Madrid star joined United with considerable expectations, but his contributions have been a subject of intense debate among supporters and critics alike.

While the Brazilian has occasionally demonstrated exceptional abilities, inconsistency has marred his time with the club.

In response to the season’s performance, Casemiro recently reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing his abilities and supporting his teammates.

His market value is estimated at €15 million (£13 million), reflecting a significant decline in his worth since joining United.

While Casemiro, at 32, still possesses qualities that could make him a valuable asset, the allure of emerging talent and the need for squad restructuring may prompt United to consider his departure.

Should Casemiro choose to depart, United fans may witness a reshaped squad, potentially paving the way for an intriguing January transfer window.

“Destined for a successful United career”: January exit off the cards for struggling Ten Hag recruit – report

            “destined-for-a-successful-united-career”:-january-exit-off-the-cards-for-struggling-ten-hag-recruit-–-report

After last season’s dismal record in front of goal, Manchester United’s summer business included signing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna after the forward’s impressive season in Italy.

And after a match-winning strike on his debut, fans were excited to see how the Netherlands international would get on once he really found his feet at the club.

Since the Fulham goal, the 23-year-old has struggled to put the ball in the back of the net, missing glorious chances galore. His play seems to suggest he excels in link-up play but is not a lethal finisher.

Considering Rasmus Hojlund’s young age and his own travails, Zirkzee’s form has come as a bit of a shock to the system for the Red Devils.

            Zirkzee’s future

As has often been the case with United players, the media starts kicking them when they are down, and the former Bayern Munich star has already been linked with a surprise January exit.

The Peoples Person has relayed reports stating that the Dutch star was reportedly not someone Ten Hag wanted to sign while new head coach Ruben Amorim also feels he is not up to the mark.

A sensational swap deal with Viktor Gyokeres coming to Old Trafford with the United No 11 heading to Lisbon has been mooted but TBR Football have poured cold water on these speculations.

They have claimed that Amorim will offer every player a clean slate and a chance to stake their claim and both Zirkzee and United have no interest in ending their partnership so soon.

The consensus at Old Trafford is that Zirkzee is a very talented player and he will eventually come good with his adaptation taking longer than expected.

“TBR Football understands that a number of Italian clubs have registered an interest with Joshua Zirkzee’s representatives, should he be made available this January but they have been told that as it stands he has no plans to to leave Manchester United.

            No January exit

“Amorim is set to give all his squad a chance to stake a claim in his plans and that very much includes Zirkzee – who TBR Football is told is confident he is still destined for a successful United career.”

Juventus, currently managed by former Bologna boss Thiago Motta, are interested in a January loan but as things stand, that does not look like materialising.

Interestingly, the report claims that after the next six weeks, Zirkzee’s agent will reassess his client’s situation and a concrete decision will be taken then.

Zirkzee’s last start in a red shirt came back in September with the Dutch forward registering two assists in nine games since.

Man Utd: Ruud van Nistelrooy tipped for ‘instant return’ with Championship club ‘interested’ in ‘shock move’

              man-utd:-ruud-van-nistelrooy-tipped-for-‘instant-return’-with-championship-club-‘interested’-in-‘shock-move’

Former Manchester United assistant Ruud van Nistelrooy could reportedly make an ‘instant return’ as a Championship club is ‘interested’ in him.

Van Nistelrooy was beloved at Man Utd during his playing career and returned to the Premier League giants ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The 48-year-old retired in 2012 and has subsequently turned to coaching. He spent a year in charge of PSV Eindhoven before leaving at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Van Nistelrooy helped the Eredivisie side win the KNVB Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield. Despite this, he left with one game of the 2022/23 season remaining as he was not backed enough by the board.

Earlier this year, he returned to Man Utd as he was named Erik ten Hag’s assistant. This was viewed as an interesting move as he has clear managerial ambitions and could potentially undermine his fellow Dutchman.

READ: Five PL moves for Ruud van Nistelrooy post-Man Utd include replacing Ange Postecoglou at Spurs

Under Ten Hag, Man Utd endured a miserable start to the 2024/25 campaign and the former Ajax boss was sacked at the end of last month.

Van Nistelrooy was named interim boss and won three of his four games in charge. Despite this, new head coach Ruben Amorim has decided to get rid of the club legend as he is sticking with the staff he worked with at Sporting Lisbon.

This leaves Van Nistelrooy without a club, but a report from The Sun claims he ‘could make an instant return to English football’ in a ‘shock move’ as Championship side Burnley are ‘interested’.

Burnley were heavily linked with Van Nistelrooy following last season’s relegation and this appointment was reportedly close before Man Utd hijacked the deal.

              The report adds.

‘Van Nistelrooy could be set for a quickfire return to football, SunSport has learned.

‘His spell at the Red Devils, on top of his impressive season in charge of PSV, have seen his stocks rise and SunSport understands Burnley are interested.

‘Their managerial hunt in the summer saw both Van Nistelrooy and Scott Parker as candidates – with the Clarets appointing the latter.

‘The decision was taken out of their hands somewhat as Van Nistelrooy instead chose to join Man Utd as Erik ten Hag’s assistant despite holding talks to be top man at Burnley.

‘The allure of an Old Trafford homecoming was too much for Van Nistelrooy to turn down. But Burnley could now look to revisit that situation if they feel they are heading in the wrong direction under Parker.

‘Owner Alan Pace is well-known for giving managers time, as he has done with Sean Dyche and Vincent Kompany. So it seems unlikely he will axe Parker just yet.’

Amorim has picked his preferred striker at United, and it’s not Hojlund or Zirkzee – report

New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is considering playing Marcus Rashford through the middle, as per reports.

Erik ten Hag’s first season at United was very promising, as the Red Devils finished the season in third place and ended their trophy drought by lifting the League Cup. The biggest reason behind United’s impressive campaign was Marcus Rashford’s scintillating form. The Englishman was at his prolific best, managing 30 goals and 11 assists across all competitions.

However, his form declined rapidly the next season and so did United’s, as they recorded their worst league finish in Premier League history. Despite a promising pre-season, the 27-year-old has had a slow start to the 2024/25 campaign as well, and Ten Hag has lost his job.

Regardless of many concerns about his ability and mentality, the Englishman remains United’s best attacker and his form has the potential to heavily influence the reign of yet another manager at Old Trafford.

It seems Amorim recognises that and according to GIVEMESPORT he arrives at Carrington with a plan for the United superstar.

It is claimed that the Portuguese is set to hand Rashford “a chance to impress as the number nine in his 3-4-3 system” in an attempt to fit him into his lineup.

Amorim’s system, which paid great dividends in Lisbon, relies on a narrow attack, featuring a number nine and two number tens behind him.

The dynamic left-winger, known for his pace and ball-striking ability, is certainly not a playmaker, leading to question marks over his role in the new gaffer’s plans.

The report adds that “insiders who are familiar with Amorim’s way of thinking have suggested to GIVEMESPORT that it would not be a surprise to see him try Rashford as a centre-forward.”

Viktor Gyökeres‘s ability to attack the channels and space behind defenders in transition worked wonders at Sporting CP and it is expected that Amorim will look to implement similar ideas in England. In that regard, Rashford’s skill sets could come in handy and help the player rediscover his best form.

Rasmus Hojlund is also a threat in transition but the 21-year-old has struggled to consistently get on the scoresheet. Joshua Zirkzee, meanwhile, likes to drop deep like a number 10. Garnacho has the pace and dribbling skills to trouble any backline in Europe, but he is too wasteful in front of the goal.

As such, at least until the summer transfer window, Rashford, who has four goals to his name in all competitions this term, appears to be the most experienced and suited attacking option through the middle for Amorim.

Details of when Amorim will take charge of his first United training session emerge – report

                  details-of-when-amorim-will-take-charge-of-his-first-united-training-session-emerge-–-report

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly set to take his first training session at the club early next week.

Amorim arrived at United on Monday, to officially assume his role as the Red Devils’ next boss.

A day later, he was pictured greeting some of his United players including Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, Leny Yoro and Toby Collyer.

When he leads United out at Portman Road to face Ipswich Town on November 24, he will become the club’s sixth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

Amorim replaces Erik ten Hag who was sacked after two-and-a-half years following United’s worst-ever start to a Premier League season that culminated in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of West Ham.

It’s understood that Amorim has yet to receive his visa and so, he cannot get on the grass before this crucial document is issued.

However, it’s only a matter of time until he has obtained his visa.

In fact, according to the reliable Ben Jacobs, Amorim’s visa will have arrived by Monday.

Jacobs wrote on X, “Ruben Amorim is due to take Manchester United training for the first time on Monday, by which time his visa is expected to have arrived.”

“Manchester United will announce the full coaching staff when everyone’s work permit is sorted. No rush due to the international break.”

Earlier today, United confirmed that Amorim visited Old Trafford for the first time.

He met fans and also shared a moment with United Women’s no.7 Ella Toone. Pictures of Amorim at the Theatre of Dreams can be seen below.

When he toured the press conference room, Amorim said, “This is funny. I’ve watched this room so many times.”

“Sunday, next week. Ipswich. We will be ready.”

Video: Rio Ferdinand names the quickest player in United’s last CL-winning side, fans will be shocked

The halcyon days for Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson seem a long time ago after a decade without a Premier League title.

United boasted of some of the greatest players on the planet during Ferguson’s tenure, which saw them win two Champions League titles and a raft of domestic trophies.

Owen Hargreaves was part of United’s 2008 Champions League winning side and despite his injury issues at the club, the Englishman did enjoy a few notable moments in a red shirt.

The former Bayern Munich star was typically seen as a combative midfielder, primarily there to cover ground and recover the ball for his side.

However, as reported by The Mirror, Hargreaves possessed a key attribute that might have gone unnoticed by a lot of United fans, as well as his teammates at the time.

Speaking with Rio Ferdinand on his YouTube channel, the pair reminisced about their time at Old Trafford with Hargreaves highlighting his pace as an underrated trait he had in his locker.

🏃 When Owen Hargreaves raced Anderson for his car 😂

“People didn’t know I was that quick, so I could always surprise them,” said Hargreaves, before Ferdinand claimed he was the quickest at the club, much to his teammates’ surprise.

“He came into the training ground when he signed, and we done [sic] testing, and he blew everyone out of the water. He blew everyone away; we used to do like 10 yards, 20 yards, and he won every race.

Wayne Rooney used to go to the guy, ‘Who’s playing with the machine? Owen can’t be the fastest’,” Ferdinand recalled.

Despite carrying a knee injury that plagued him at United, Hargreaves still remained the sharpest in the tests at United’s training ground and revealed an exchange with fellow midfielder Anderson that nearly cost the Brazilian his car.

“I had just started with my knee. I wasn’t healthy,” Hargreaves continued. “Five, 10, 15, 20, 25 yards. Easy money; everyone would try and put bets to race me out on the pitches because they weren’t accepting it.

“I remember Ando [Anderson], I said, ‘I’ll bet your car.’ That Audi, the white one, a nice car. I said ‘Ando, you ain’t gonna beat me, man, just leave it’,” he said.

Ferdinand confirmed Anderson thought better in the end. “He didn’t bet it. He knew – he saw a couple of spirits, and he said, ‘No, not for me’.” the former centre-back said.

Hargreaves’ knee injury eventually saw his time at United cut short with the midfielder subsequently moving to neighbours Manchester City before retiring a year later.

The former Bayern Munich man played 39 times for United, winning the Champions League and the Premier League title in 2008.

Conner Botterill has been with The Peoples Person for two years. A keen match-going red with degrees in Sport and Journalism and Philosophy and Psychology, Conner still believes he has a chance of making United’s first team through his 5-a-side career.

English side “interested” in offering ex-United coach quickfire return to management after brutal axe by Amorim – report

                      english-side-“interested”-in-offering-ex-united-coach-quickfire-return-to-management-after-brutal-axe-by-amorim-–-report

Despite receiving extensive backing in the summer window, Erik ten Hag just could not get Manchester United to start performing with the club enduring their worst start in 35 years.

And the defeat to West Ham, which left the Red Devils perilously close to the relegation zone, forced INEOS into action as they sacked the Dutchman and put assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy in charge on an interim basis.

The former club striker did a great job in steadying the ship, with the 20-time English league champions going on a four-match unbeaten run which included three emphatic wins.

The Old Trafford side are only four points off the top four with plenty of big-name stars returning to form under the interim manager, a huge boost for new head coach Ruben Amorim.

                      Ruud’s time at the club

The players wanted Van Nistelrooy to stay, and the ex-Netherlands star also expressed his wish to continue working under the Portuguese but Amorim decided otherwise.

He brought in six of his own staff from Sporting Lisbon and out went almost the entire backroom staff except Darren Fletcher and Andreas Georgson.

Van Nistelrooy’s record at United and PSV Eindhoven will stand him in good stead and it seems he could be in line for a shock return to England with Burnley interested in his services according to The Sun.

The Championship side had courted the 48-year-old in the summer, holding a few meeting with him as well, but the lure of returning to Old Trafford proved too difficult to turn down and he choose to join United as an assistant coach instead.

Now the Clarets, who are fourth in the table, could go back in for the Dutchman following significant fan unrest. Burnley have not won a game in their last four attempts and have scored only nine goals in their last 13 games.

Scott Parker, the current Burnley boss is under pressure and while owner Alan Pace is known to give his managers time, Van Nistelrooy’s availability could force a rethink if results do not improve.

“RUUD VAN NISTELROOY could be set for a quickfire return to football, SunSport has learned. His spell at the Red Devils, on top of his impressive season in charge of PSV, have seen his stocks rise and SunSport understands Burnley are interested.

                      Burnley again

“Their managerial hunt in the summer saw both Van Nistelrooy and Scott Parker as candidates – with the Clarets appointing the latter.

“Burnley could now look to revisit that situation if they feel they are heading in the wrong direction under Parker. Across Burnley’s last 13 league games since, they’ve only managed nine goals. A disgruntled Turf Moor could be beginning to turn on Parker despite them still sitting fourth in the table.”

Despite his stint as assistant, the former Real Madrid striker never hid his desire of returning to management and the challenge of taking back the Clarets to the Premier League could be too hard to turn down.

He could get the chance to manage in the English top-flight should he prove successful and it would send a telling message to INEOS and Amorim and remind them of his credentials.
