Man Utd star ‘wants’ transfer to Real Madrid or Barcelona after being told to ‘get a job somewhere else’

    man-utd-star-‘wants’-transfer-to-real-madrid-or-barcelona-after-being-told-to-‘get-a-job-somewhere-else’

Man Utd winger Alejandro Garnacho “wants” to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona, according to former Red Devils midfielder Nicky Butt.

There has been a lot of change at Man Utd this season with five new signings in the summer transfer window and a number of players also departing Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag was also replaced by Ruben Amorim as Red Devils manager earlier this week with the Portuguese taking over officially on Monday following Ruud van Nistelrooy’s stint as interim boss.

Man Utd have made a terrible start to the new Premier League season with the Red Devils currently 13th after winning just four of their opening 11 matches.

A number of players have come in for criticism so far this campaign with Garnacho occasionally criticised despite his 11 goal contributions.

And Bruno Fernandes explained that Garnacho’s muted goal celebration in a 3-0 win over Leicester City was because the Argentina international feels he’s “lost the faith” of Man Utd supporters.

Reacting to Garnacho’s lack of celebration, Roy Keane claimed earlier this week that the 20-year-old should “get a job somewhere else”.

And now former Man Utd midfielder Butt reckons Garnacho will be keen on moving to La Liga giants Real Madrid or Barcelona in the future.

Butt told the Football’s Greatest podcast: “The Premier League is the best league in the world but all the best players always leave and go to Spain, go to Real Madrid or Barcelona.

“If you look at all the superstars, they never stay in the Premier League. They stay until they need to go to the next level.

“A lot of the players see the next level as being Real Madrid or Barca but we don’t see anywhere bigger than Man United. Our mentality is if you leave Man United you’re going down.

“You don’t get appreciated here like you do at Madrid. You can guarantee Kylian Mbappe will be in the running for the Ballon d’Or next year because he’s at Real Madrid.

“It’s like Garnacho, he’s doing well here now, he’s a young Argentinian boy. If he keeps going, you can imagine him wanting to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona. Players become superstars there, not only on the football pitch.”

There is not suggestion that Garnacho is close to leaving Man Utd but Red Devils legend Paul Scholes explained the lure of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Scholes added: “If you become a great player here, the only place you can go is Madrid or Barcelona.

“I would call it a sideways move. If you’re talking about going to Juventus or Bayern Munich, I would say no.

“But there is something about going to Barcelona or Real Madrid. Some players become obsessed by that.”

Man Utd top injury table with 57 Premier League games missed

England have had nine players pull out of international duty this week and that’s a pattern repeated across football as players are massively over-worked.

Many international footballers have played three major international tournaments in three years and then started the Premier League 24/25 season already fatigued.

That has led to unprecedented numbers of injuries, particularly as UEFA have added more European games to the calendar with the expanded ‘Swiss model’ competitions.

We have looked at the seven Premier League clubs competing in Europe this season and calculated how many top-flight games have already been missed by senior players through injury. And it’s only November.

Ranked from lucky Chelsea to ravaged Manchester United…

      7) Chelsea: 15 games missed
Injured players: Malo Gusto, Reece James, Romeo Lavia and Jadon Sancho

They’ve had the luck of the (blue) devils this season with even Reece James making it onto the pitch for four Premier League games this season. Is their fortune about to run out? Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Malo Gusto and Wesley Fofana have all withdrawn from international duty this week. Though some would have you believe that is all the fault of Thomas Tuchel. Yes, even the Frenchmen. Blame the GERMAN.

      6) Liverpool: 24 games missed
Injured players: Alisson, Federico Chiesa, Diogo Jota, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones

Barring their goalkeeper – who has a very able deputy – Liverpool have been able to field pretty close to their first-choice XI over the first 11 games of the season, which has obviously helped them top the Premier League table. It’s hard to argue that they have missed Diogo Jota, with Darwin Nunez a £64m deputy.

A thigh injury to Trent Alexander-Arnold could potentially provide the first big test of the season, though Arne Slot has been consistent in giving minutes to Conor Bradley.

      5) Aston Villa: 26 games missed
Injured players: Rodd Barkley, Matty Cash, Diego Carlos, Boubacar Kamara, Ezri Konsa, John McGinn, Tyrone Mings, Amadou Onana.

Barring Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara – who are arguably not first choice anyway – most of these injuries have been relatively minor, with Unai Emery putting such niggles down to the increase in football. Villa have already played 17 games this season and there are plenty more to come. Six players have started all 11 Premier League games and Jhon Duran has come on to finish 11 too.

      4) Tottenham: 30 games missed
Injured players: Rodrigo Bentancur, Ben Davies, Wilson Odobert, Richarlison, Dominic Solanke, Heung-min Son, Djed Spence, Micky van de Ven, Timo Werner

Barring the lesser-spotted Odobert and Richarlison, most of these missed games have been short spells on the sidelines or have largely effected fringe players. Possibly the most troublesome has been the thigh injury suffered by Van de Ven; without his pace and class, Spurs fell to embarrassing defeat to Ipswich Town.

READ: 16 Conclusions on the F365 Tables: Brighton for the Champions League as Postecoglou has it easy

      3) Arsenal: 38 games missed
Injured players: Riccardo Calafiori, Gabriel Jesus, Mikel Merino, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White.

Aside from the epidemic of left-back injuries – note that we’re not even counting Kieran Tierney as a member of the first-team squad here – there is no doubt about the biggest injury loss for Arsenal this season. After the relative luck with injuries of the last two campaigns, the loss of Odegaard for seven games is one of several factors in the near-obliteration of their title chances.

He bowed out at the end of August and returned in November to an Arsenal side desperately needing a result against Chelsea to avoid full-blown crisis status. He delivered.

      2) Manchester City: 42 games missed
      Injured players:
Nathan Ake, Oscar Bobb, Kevin de Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Rodri, John Stones, Kyle Walker.

It’s tricky for many to dredge up much sympathy for Manchester City but they have been robbed of the actual best player in the world for the majority of the season, while De Bruyne, Foden and Grealish have started only four Premier League games each. No title-chasing team should be forced to play Matheus Nunes on the left.

This is the greatest test of Guardiola as Manchester City manager; can he win the Premier League title without Rodri and with only one fit, in-form goalscorer? At the moment it is very much Advantage Liverpool.

      1) Manchester United: 57 games missed
Injured players: Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans, Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo, Tyrell Malacia, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro.

That list includes three players who have not kicked a ball in anger for the Manchester United first team this season, while Mount has barely figured at all (though he should have more chances under Ruben Amorim). As doomed as Erik ten Hag became after failing to produce a consistent style of player for United in over two years, he was not helped by injuries in a stuttering campaign.

Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan made his much-anticipated professional tennis debut on Thursday.

The Uruguayan featured in a doubles match with Argentine Federico Coria which unfortunately ended in defeat for the South American pair.

As reported by The Daily Star, Forlan and Coria were comfortably beaten inside an hour by Bolivian duo of Boris Arias and Federico Zeballos.

The Uruguay Open match ended 6-1, 6-2 with Forlan and his partner struggling to make an impact from the beginning.

All of Forlan’s service games ended with a break but the former footballer showed flashes of his ability, particularly at the net.

Despite the loss, Forlan was honest with his assessment after the event and was grateful to play alongside Coria in front of a huge crowd.

“I know my limitations. I’m grateful for the opportunity to play with Fede; it’s not easy for him to enter these tournaments with an amateur beside him.

“There was a big crowd, which you don’t always see in tennis. I used to experience it in football, playing in front of 60,000 people, but in that sport is normal for me, not here,” he said.

Forlan is now setting his sights on the ITF senior tour, targeting tournaments in the over-45 category.

“I know I have opportunities to play ITF tournaments in the +45 category, which is where I’ve been competing. The plan is to keep at it, with people from Lawn Tennis, friends, travelling, and enjoying it,” he added.

The 45-year-old enjoyed a fine footballing career which included a relatively short stint at United in which he became somewhat of a cult hero.

Having suffered early struggles in the Premier League, a quickfire brace at Anfield in late 2002 secured a fine win on enemy territory for United and earned Forlan a place in the hearts of fans in the process.

Forlan went on to score a hatful of goals for multiple clubs around the globe including Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan, Internacional and Mumbai City before eventually retiring in 2019 after a season in Hong Kong at Kitchee.

Given his hero status at Old Trafford, United fans will no doubt keep a close eye on Diego’s tennis journey and wish him all the best in his new sporting career.

PL rivals desperate to thwart United’s attempts at sensational mid-season approach for free-scoring forward – report

          pl-rivals-desperate-to-thwart-united’s-attempts-at-sensational-mid-season-approach-for-free-scoring-forward-–-report

Despite their recent impressive results under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, Manchester United’s struggles in front of goal this season have been apparent to all those who have noticed.

The Red Devils are only the 16th top scorers in the Premier League with their two strikers contributing only two goals to the cause.

Rasmus Hojlund has two strikes to his name in all competitions while summer signing Joshua Zirkzee has netted only once. And new head coach Ruben Amorim has a huge job on his hands to try and get the duo to start firing.

The Portuguese is already contemplating using Marcus Rashford up front instead of the aforementioned duo while the rumour mill continues to link the Old Trafford side with a move for Amorim’s Sporting Lisbon protege, Viktor Gyokeres.

          Goals needed

A January move has been ruled out by the ex-Sporting boss himself and as per reports relayed by The Peoples Person, Christopher Nkunku of Chelsea has emerged as a sensational option.

The Frenchman, who is the Blues’ top-scorer this season with 10 goals, is unhappy with his lack of minutes in the English top-flight and is considering his future.

Despite his impressive goalscoring record, the 26-year-old has managed only one start in the league and has seen a total of 154 minutes of action with Enzo Maresca preferring Nicolas Jackson instead.

The France international is open to switching to the red half of Manchester with the London side asking for £52 million to part ways with the former RB Leipzig star.

However, as per Football Insider, Chelsea have had a change of heart and are reluctant to let go of the attacker owing to his brilliant form in front of goal.

Chelsea are still in three competitions and Nkunku’s European form has really aided their Conference League ambitions and Maresca knows the importance of maintaining a competitive squad.

          Chelsea won’t sell Nkunku

“Chelsea are reluctant to allow Christopher Nkunku to move on amid reported interest from Man United, sources have told Football Insider.

“Nicolas Jackson is the undisputed first-choice striker for Enzo Maresca. However, Nkunku is just one injury away from starting for Chelsea and has been in good scoring form in his appearances under the Italian boss.

“Maresca has been clear that he wants to keep his squad together after huge change during the most recent summer window.”

Hopefully, Amorim can get Hojlund and Zirkzee firing or else United will have to find a brand-new target for the winter window.

“No intention…”: Agent of unhappy United star rubbishes recent sensational exit rumours – report

Manchester United winger Antony reportedly has no desire to leave the club amidst speculation that he could be on his way out in the near future.

Antony has been extremely underwhelming since his £86m move from Ajax in the summer of 2022. He has managed just 12 goals and five assists in the 87 appearances he has made for United.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are prepared to cut their losses and part ways with the 24-year-old.

Such is the level of United’s desperation to offload the Brazilian that they’re even willing to sanction a loan exit during the winter transfer window.

It recently emerged that United are interested in using Antony as a makeweight in a January deal to land Flamengo youngster Lorran, who is in high demand.

However, this claim has been rubbished by journalist Jorge Nicola, who insists that Antony does not want to depart Old Trafford and any talks of a potential swap arrangement involving Lorran are wide of the mark.

According to Nicola [via SportWitness], he contacted Antony’s agent, Junior Pedroso, who re-affirmed his client’s commitment to the 20-time English champions despite the ongoing uncertainty over his future.

“Let’s change the subject and talk about a speculation that comes from England, and the account that Lorran, a Flamengo player, is of interest to Manchester United.”

“From there, United could use Antony as a currency to hire the 18-year-old player. I confess that I found the story there weird, after all, Lorran is valued at €12m, and Anthony was bought for €100m.”

“Anyway, I thought it was better to look for Junior Pedroso, who is Antony’s representative, to know if there was any search, any inquiry, if this story has any meaning.”

“The answer was that Antony has no intention of leaving Manchester United.”

Nicola added, “The club has just changed coach, Ruben Amorim, who was Sporting’s commander, was hired, was presented now at the FIFA date, and from there a new possibility opens up for Anthony to be better used. He has another two and a half years of contract with the English club and intends to continue.”

Antony is reportedly set for showdown talks with the club over his very limited playing time this season, which has seen him amass just 27 minutes of Premier League action.

“Demands a lot…”: Summer signing finally opens up about slow start to life as a United player

              “demands-a-lot…”:-summer-signing-finally-opens-up-about-slow-start-to-life-as-a-united-player

After Casemiro’s struggles in the previous campaign, Manchester United decided to spend big on Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte in the summer.

Erik ten Hag eased him into action, claiming he needed more time to adapt to the rigours of the English game. Reports suggested that the Dutchman was not a fan of his signing and that he wanted other options in his stead.

INEOS were not too pleased with the former Ajax coach’s methods nor with the results and ultimately decided to sack him, placing Ruud van Nistelrooy in interim charge.

And the former United striker did a fine job steadying the ship, as the team went unbeaten in four games, winning three of them, while scoring 11 goals in the process.

              RvN backed Ugarte

After receiving plenty of early criticism, Van Nistelrooy backed Ugarte, and claimed that he would be brilliant signing for the club moving forward.

“I’m convinced Manuel will be a great player for United. Getting players in an early conclusion, players that are here for two or three months, you should be careful with that I think.

“It’s a great signing, very good player, professional, he has very specific qualities in midfield, gets in between players, can recover a lot of balls for us to get us in attacking positions.”

And that faith and regular minutes allowed the Uruguayan to finally shine in a red shirt, with his recent displays drawing plaudits.

Currently on international duty, the defensive midfielder was asked about his slow start and how he felt about his fitness currently.

“I feel very good now,” Ugarte told reporters. “It always takes time to adapt to the league, which I think is the best league in the world and that demands a lot from you.”

              Amorim excited about the future

The current run of form has United only four points off the top four. And the Uruguay international was pleased with the progress. With new head coach Ruben Amorim coming in, a feel-good factor seems to be back at the club.

“I am very happy with how we are doing with the club. There is a lot of optimism and I feel very good physically.”

It must be remembered that the 23-year-old has played under Amorim during his time at Sporting Lisbon and that must give him the edge when it comes to adapting to the coach’s demands.

The new United coach has already spoken about how happy he is to reunite with the United star and hopefully, the duo can work in tandem to ensure a good end to the season.

“Times like that in your life…”: Ex-United star ripping it up at new club makes big admission about his summer exit

                “times-like-that-in-your-life…”:-ex-united-star-ripping-it-up-at-new-club-makes-big-admission-about-his-summer-exit

Scott McTominay has insisted that he has no regrets about leaving his boyhood club Manchester United in the summer to join Napoli.

Napoli announced McTominay’s signing during deadline day of the summer transfer window. It’s believed that United and the Serie A club reached an agreement for the Scotland international at around the £25 million mark.

The switch marked an end to McTominay’s 22-year association with the Red Devils, having joined them as a five-year-old in 2002.

He made 255 appearances for the 20-time English champions and won an FA Cup and League Cup during his time at Old Trafford.

At the time of his exit, the 27-year-old had a year left on his contract. He was not guaranteed to be a regular starter under Erik ten Hag and so, he elected to go elsewhere in search of greener pastures.

McTominay has so far been a hit with the Napoli fans, who have unsurprisingly taken to him like a duck to water.

The midfielder grabbed his third goal for the Partenopei last weekend, as they played out a 1-1 draw against Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan to remain at the top of the Serie A standings.

The Carrington academy graduate spoke to PA [via Manchester Evening News] and explained that he has not looked back since parting ways with United.

“It was a huge decision for me and my family and my friends. Times like that in your life you just have to say; ‘Do I want to do it’? Absolutely, and go for it.”

                “There’s no looking back.”

“I’ve never had any regrets in my life or my career and I’ll continue that way to this day.”

“I want my career to be successful, and I’m going to go out of my way to try and push myself to be the best football player and best person that I can possibly be, as well.”

Meanwhile, United are back in action on November 24 when they travel to Portman Road to face Ipswich Town.

Official: Brilliant United duo nominated for prestigious global award

                  official:-brilliant-united-duo-nominated-for-prestigious-global-award

Manchester United duo Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo have been nominated for the Globe Soccer Emerging Player 2024 award.

The Globe Soccer Awards brings together football personalities, both past and present, to honour the biggest and most outstanding achievements of 2024.

Globe Soccer Awards’ website states, “The winners will be chosen through a unique dual selection process. Football enthusiasts worldwide will have their say in determining the recipients of these coveted awards through a global fan vote.”

“Additionally, an esteemed panel of international football icons will lend their expertise to the selection process. This year’s jury includes legendary figures such as Francesco Totti, Iker Casillas, Luis Figo, and Marcello Lippi.”

Throughout a season of mixed fortunes, marked by the triumph of an FA Cup victory and the disappointment of an eighth-place finish in the Premier League for the 2023/24 season, Garnacho and Mainoo have remained consistent bright spots for both fans and the club.

Both players truly broke into the team last term, making an impressive 82 appearances across all competitions between them.

The two Carrington academy graduates also grabbed a goal apiece to secure United’s victory in the FA Cup final over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

So far this campaign, Garnacho seems to have picked up where he left off and leads the way as United’s top scorer this season with seven goals in 18 appearances.

Mainoo’s has only featured on eight occasions, due to an injury that has kept him sidelined for weeks.

Garnacho and Mainoo were in the running to win the Kopa Trophy but eventually lost out to Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal. However, the United pair are now in contention to claim the Globe Soccer Emerging Player 2024 award.

For either to win, they will need to ward off significant competition from the likes of Pau Cubarsí (Barcelona), Désiré Doué (Paris Saint-Germain, Arda Güler (Real Madrid), João Neves (Paris Saint-Germain), Aleksandar Pavlović (Bayern Munich), Savinho (Manchester City), Yamal (Barcelona), and Kenan Yildiz (Juventus).

INEOS considering another “highly controversial move” as part of cost-cutting measures at United – report

                    ineos-considering-another-“highly-controversial-move”-as-part-of-cost-cutting-measures-at-united-–-report

Manchester United are reportedly considering trimming the budget allocated to the club’s disabled supporters’ association by half.

Since INEOS billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed his partial 27.7% investment into the club, he has undertaken a raft of measures intended to significantly reduce operational costs at Old Trafford.

Some, including the laying off of about 250 staff members, have proven to be very unpopular. In INEOS’ bid to exhaust all avenues to reduce costs, United also ended Sir Alex Ferguson’s multi-million-pound ambassadorial role, which he held since his retirement in 2013.

Mike Keegan of The Daily Mail now reveals that United are targeting the £40,000-a-year usually given to MUDSA, the club’s official disabled supporters’ group.

It’s understood that a final decision has not been made over the “highly controversial move” which would undoubtedly spark the anger of a section of the fanbase.

An insider told the newspaper, “This is nothing short of a disgrace. The figures they are talking about are a drop in the ocean and the optics would be horrific.”

“It feels like the club has lost touch with its soul. The disabled supporters’ club has always been a big part of Manchester United and when you see how much money is being wasted on paying off managers and bringing in players who aren’t good enough, something like this will be very difficult to justify.”

Keegan explains that the money donated to MUDSA is used for a number of things including subsidising tickets to annual events such as a Christmas Party, which has proven to be very popular with members and the players.

Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic has named two things that Ruben Amorim must urgently do to hit the ground running at Old Trafford.

United confirmed Amorim’s appointment as Erik ten Hag’s successor on November 1.

He arrived at the club on Monday, to officially assume his new role. A day later, Amorim was pictured meeting some of his players including Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Toby Collyer and Mason Mount.

Amorim certainly has his work cut out for him, with United currently sitting in 13th position in the Premier League, having gained just 15 points from a possible 33.

Vidic, who won 15 trophies with United, spoke to Sky Sports and said that Amorim must get recruitment right and foster positive relations with his players, the media and insiders at the club.

The former Serbia international told Sky about Amorim, “I don’t know much about him. [But] obviously, I know he was very successful at Sporting Lisbon.”

“He seems like a very positive guy and I think he has a winning mentality. He played at a top level. He was a decent player. He has a good background.”

“But, for me, what managers and coaches need in the modern game is, first of all, good recruitment, and an ability to deal with the players, media, and even with the people in the club. I hope that he is the right fit for the club.”

Vidic added, “A job needs to be done in the next few transfer windows. Not just players they are going to bring in – I think some players definitely have to try and find new teams.”

When asked about United’s decision to sack Ten Hag, Vidic responded, “It’s difficult to say whether it was right or not. But definitely we have to say that Erik ten Hag got support from the club over the years. The club invested a lot of money in the philosophy of Ten Hag, but if you look at the results, my expectation and the expectation of the fans was much higher.”

“But I’m not sure it was just a problem with the coach. I think we have to look at the bigger picture. Other things need to be right to help the coach perform and give the best of his ability. Sometimes you don’t need the best player in the world to play for your club, but you need the right character.”

The 43-year-old explained that consistency is key when playing for the biggest clubs in the world.
