Turkish giants enlist super-agent to snap up misfiring United forward in shock January swoop – report

    turkish-giants-enlist-super-agent-to-snap-up-misfiring-united-forward-in-shock-january-swoop-–-report

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is a shock target for Galatasaray, who could make an approach as soon as January, according to reports in Turkey.

As per Kontraspor, the Süper Lig leaders have commissioned super-agent George Gardi to work on a deal to bring the Englishman to Istanbul.

The Italian has an impressive track record of bolstering the Galatasaray squad with superstars. He was instrumental in the signings of Mauro Icardi and Victor Osimhen, and the club are hoping he can repeat the trick with Rashford.

Kontraspor claim that Gardi reached out to the Turkish giants with confidence that he could secure them the services of the 27-year-old forward.

With Icardi sidelined for months with a ruptured ACL Okan Buruk’s side is short in attack, and with question marks persisting over Rashford’s future at Old Trafford Gardi has identified an opportunity to pounce.

Kontrasport say that Galatasaray “will decide whether to make a move after both the transfer fee and the player cost are determined,” so while they do hold an interest there is a lot still to be finalised before it is made concrete.

The report adds, however, that whether in the January or summer transfer window Galatasaray “definitely plans to make a transfer offer to Rashford in case of a possible departure.”

Rashford, who is credited with a market value of €60m, scored the first goal of the Ruben Amorim era to give United a lead after just 81 seconds against Ipswich Town at the weekend.

But it didn’t take him long to lapse back into his old lethargic ways, leaving fans unhappy with his overall performance.

The 27-year-old now has five goals and three assists in 18 matches this season and is generally thought to be in Amorim’s plans.

The Portuguese tactician preferred him to Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee at centre-forward against Ipswich, a clear show of faith in the player.

But his underwhelming showing could see some rotation in tomorrow’s Europa League match against Bodø/Glimt.

Regardless, it would be incredibly surprising to see United part ways with him in January, although should his form fail to pick up for the rest of the season it would be hard to turn down a sizeable offer.

Amorim names four Man Utd players as he reveals main ‘concern’ at ‘not dangerous’ Red Devils

      amorim-names-four-man-utd-players-as-he-reveals-main-‘concern’-at-‘not-dangerous’-red-devils

Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim has revealed that one of his main concerns is the lack of a reliable goalscorer in his ranks at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are currently 12th in the Premier League after their 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town, in Amorim’s first game in charge, boosted them up one place.

Only Southampton, Crystal Palace and Everton have scored fewer goals than Man Utd in the Premier League this season with Marcus Rashford, Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund scoring just four goals between them.

When asked if it was a worry that Man Utd lacked a reliable goalscorer currently, Amorim told a pre-match press conference on Wednesday: “I think there is a concern in that, but we have to improve as a team. We controlled the ball in the second half [vs Ipswich] but we were not dangerous. Rasmus and Josh will score more goals. Amad has to be better nearer the goal. Bruno has to score more goals.”

Rashford played through the middle against Ipswich on Sunday but the Man Utd boss admitted it was wrong of him to start the England international in that position at the weekend.

Amorim added: “That positon is not the best for him [vs Ipswich]. He was fighting with two giants. We will keep looking for solutions. He will have all the help of all the staff and fans. He is a Manchester United boy.”

Man Utd tried a 3-4-3 formation in Amorim’s first match in charge, something that helped him to success during his time at Sporting CP, but the Portuguese coach insists they won’t be sticking to one system.

Amorim continued: “It is not a surprise. These are different things. I have to use the names of the players to explain the situation to you guys. I have explained why we had some problems in the first half. It was not a problem with the players; it was about me [and my ideas].

“I believe we can play in different systems. Sometimes we defended in a 4-4-2 [vs Ipswich]. We have to play in different systems because nowadays teams change their dynamic. I think our structure, the power of this structure, is to change formation in each game.

“It is a different league and it is harder than in Portugal. But I also have experienced players who play in their national teams. Having a lot of games without time to train means it will be difficult for me, but be tougher for them.”

On his first home match in charge against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday, Amorim said: “It will be a special time. I just want to win the game. Before the match it will be like a new sensation. After the whistle, it will just be another game.

“We have a lot of games and we are in the beginning of something. We will try to win every game, not just focus on this game and have a clear of idea of how to play.”

“Premature decision”: Former United assistant was upset Ten Hag allowed top player to leave

        “premature-decision”:-former-united-assistant-was-upset-ten-hag-allowed-top-player-to-leave

Former Manchester United assistant coach Mike Phelan suggests David de Gea’s exit was a mistake.

One of Erik ten Hag’s boldest transfer decisions as United manager was letting De Gea depart Old Trafford in 2023, bringing an end to his 12-year stay in Manchester.

De Gea was a fan favourite at United, having made a club record 545 appearances for a goalkeeper. During that period he also became the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets (190) for the Mancunians.

As such, not many expected the Spaniard to leave the club at the age of 32, and that too as a free agent.

Phelan, who was part of United’s coaching staff under Sir Alex Ferguson as well as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, also didn’t expect De Gea to part ways with the Premier League giants.

Speaking to Firenze Viola (via Sport Witness), Phelan, who was at the club when United signed De Gea from Atletico Madrid, revealed: “No, it doesn’t surprise me [that De Gea moved to Italy]. If anything, what surprised me was that he decided to leave Manchester United in the summer. Or rather that United did not confirm him. It was a bit of a premature decision in my opinion.”

When asked if the Spain international’s exit is a “regret” for the Red Devils, Phelan said: “Yes, it is. I was very sad that he left. I have worked with David since the beginning of his career and I think he is a very serious professional, someone who works hard every day he goes to the field to train.”

Despite his stature, it wasn’t easy for De Gea to find a suitable club following his departure from United. He had to wait for over a year before Fiorentina came calling, handing him an opportunity to ply his trade in Italy in 2024.

The 34-year-old has so far enjoyed life in Florence, raising many eyebrows with his phenomenal saves. He earned plenty of plaudits for saving two penalties against AC Milan earlier this campaign.

Having said that, as far as United are concerned, De Gea’s absence hasn’t been felt.

Ten Hag’s decision to replace the veteran with Andre Onana has paid dividends, with the ex-Inter Milan star impressing fans and pundits alike with his composure in possession and sharp saves.

No goalkeeper has earned more clean sheets (5) than the United number 1 in the Premier League this season.

Amorim says key defender is fit again and will return to face Bodo/Glimt tomorrow

          amorim-says-key-defender-is-fit-again-and-will-return-to-face-bodo/glimt-tomorrow

Ruben Amorim says Lisandro Martinez is available for Manchester United’s Europa League clash with Bodo/Glimt tomorrow.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the game, the United head coach confirmed that Martinez will take part but Harry Maguire, who is also in training, is not yet ready.

“Not Harry, Licha is ready. He didn’t stop too much time, so I feel he is ready. The situation is different to Harry’s,” he said.

Asked when Leny Yoro will be fit enough to play, Amorim said:

“He is training. We believe a lot of him and we are preparing the best way to start with Leny.”

The next question was in regard to what the new head coach feels about his first home game.

“It will be a special time,” he said.

“I just want to win the game. Before the match it will be like a new sensation. After the whistle, it will just be another game.

“We have a lot of games and we are in the beginning of something. We will try to win every game, not just focus on this game and have a clear of idea of how to play.”

Amorim then mentioned again that he will be rotating the team tomorrow and for the foreseeable future.

“They [the squad] is already split,” he explained. “If Bruno plays tomorrow, he cannot train for two days. He can only train slowly. Some of the guys will field the game, some of the guys will train the next day.”

A Norwegian reporter then asked the boss about what he expects from Bodo/Glimt.

“I am expecting a tough game. They run a lot and we need to improve that. They have some special players in the wings. They are winning all the time so I am expecting a very, very intense game and a good game. It will be a good game.”

On reports Glimt will rotate, he said:

“I am not thinking about that; I am just focusing on winning our first game in Old Trafford. If you win, it is a big help. I know the players and the way the team [Bodo/Glimt] plays. I am focused on seeing things in my squad.”

He was then asked how long it will take the team to adapt to his methods.

“It is a different league and it is harder than in Portugal,” he replied. “But I also have experienced players who play in their national teams. Having a lot of games without time to train means it will be difficult for me, but it will be tougher for them.”

In regard to the issues faced against Ipswich, he noted that “it is not a surprise [there were problems]. These are different things. I have to use the names of the players to explain the situation to you guys. I have explained why we had some problems in the first half. It was not a problem with the players; it was about me [and my ideas].

“I believe we can play in different systems. Sometimes we defended in a 4-4-2. We have to play in different systems because nowadays teams change their dynamic. I think our structure, the power of this structure, is to change formation in each game.”

Amorim finally fielded a question about whether a recognised striker is a priority for him, given that he benched two strikers against Ipswich and played winger Marcus Rashford up front.

“I think there is a concern in that, but we have to improve as a team. We controlled the ball in the second half but we were not dangerous. Rasmus and Josh and Rash will score more goals. Amad has to be better nearer the goal. Bruno has to score more goals.

          On Rashford specifically, he said:

“I will try to help him. It was not easy for him in that position [centre forward against Ipswich] because he was facing two giants.”

“We will continue to look for solutions for him and for the other players. Marcus has to be Marcus. He will have the help of all the staff and the fans because he is a Manchester United kid, but it has to come from him first.

Thinly-veiled dig aimed at ‘smiling’ Rashford with Man Utd proving their ‘terminal decline’

            thinly-veiled-dig-aimed-at-‘smiling’-rashford-with-man-utd-proving-their-‘terminal-decline’

BeIN Sports presenter Richard Keys aimed a dig at Marcus Rashford after the Man Utd forward scored in their 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

The Red Devils were held to a draw at Portman Road after Omari Hutchinson’s long-range deflected strike cancelled out Rashford’s early opener.

That point moved Man Utd up one place to 12th in the Premier League table with only Everton, Southampton and Crystal Palace scoring fewer goals this season.

Rashford, as well as Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have been criticised over their performances with four goals between the three players in the Premier League this term.

England international Rashford has struggled over the last year or two with many feeling that he’s lost some of his enthusiasm for playing football.

And Keys sarcastically praised the Man Utd forward for “smiling” and temporarily rediscovering his “appetite” for playing the game.

Keys wrote in his blog: “It’s not often that Manchester United fans have a better matchweek their City rivals – but they did yesterday.

“What a start the new coach got off to – a goal up after only 80 seconds or so, but don’t mention the shanked cross that turned into a really good ball!

“And just for a moment it looked as though Marcus Rashford had re-discovered his appetite for the game. He was even smiling.

“I loved the way Amorim reacted to the goal. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. He was motionless. Class.

“But – the freshness, the optimism, the joy all faded too quickly and it was clear that despite the system – and there’s nothing wrong with it – this United team is in terminal decline and Amorim has got a hell of a job on his hands.

“But we knew that didn’t we? There’s no short term fix. He simply doesn’t have enough players who are good enough to wear the jersey.

“Look at the starting line-up. How many of them would you keep? Three? Certainly no more. And where do you get rid of the rest? Who’s going to take Rashford and pay him £350,000 a week? Casemiro? Eriksen? Evans? De Light? Ugarte? Fernandes? Mount? Zirkzee? It’s scary.

“Only surgery is going to sort the mess out and that will require Ratcliffe to find someone money – big money. Factor in wages, I reckon it’s going to need a billion – £500m on players at least – the rest in wages and agents fees.

“Is Ratcliffe going to spend that kind of money? Is he hell. Don’t bet on United re-joining everybody else at the top table any time soon. I genuinely wish Amorim all the luck in the world. He seems like a really nice guy, but that won’t be enough.”

Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge of Manchester United did not go as planned with injury issues forcing the Portuguese to select a far-from ideal starting XI against Ipswich Town.

The former Sporting Lisbon boss had to pick Jonny Evans on the left-side of a back three with Noussair Mazraoui playing on the right.

Ideally, he would have employed a left-footed defender on the left side and a pacey centre-back like Leny Yoro on the right with the Moroccan having the freedom to play as a wingback.

Ahead of Thursday’s Europa League test against Bodo/Glimt, the 39-year-old head coach will be pleased to see two injury absentees return to training.

              Injury update

As revealed by The Manchester Evening NewsSamuel Luckhurst, Harry Maguire, who last featured against Aston Villa in the Premier League, was spotted back in training alongside Lisandro Martinez.

The World Cup winner had sustained an injury against Leicester City in interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final game in charge and had returned from international duty early to assess the issue.

This is not confirmation that both will feature from the start against the Norwegian team but they could possibly make the squad for the league game against Everton at the weekend.

Both were not part of Amorim’s first matchday squad and the Englishman, in particular, could take further time to make his return considering the prolonged period of absence.

Both will be welcome returns with the Argentine likely to slot into the left-sided centre-back role while Maguire could excel in the centre. The former captain has experience of playing in a back three for the country, and excelled in that role.

              Yoro not in training

The MEN also revealed that Yoro was not present in training. The Frenchman has trained under the 39-year-old but Wednesday was supposedly his recovery day.

“Leny Yoro not training as he’s got a designated recovery day. Not taking part in every training session yet,” Luckhurst’s update on X read.

The Peoples Person has already relayed that the club is being extra careful with the 19-year-old’s rehabilitation so as to avoid any further complications following a summer surgery.

Man Utd: Ruben Amorim ‘makes firm decision’ on ‘struggling duo’ after ‘major move’ from Euro giants

                man-utd:-ruben-amorim-‘makes-firm-decision’-on-‘struggling-duo’-after-‘major-move’-from-euro-giants

According to reports, new Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has ‘made a firm decision’ on two ‘struggling’ players amid exit speculation.

Earlier this month, Amorim was appointed to replace Erik ten Hag, who was sacked amid Man Utd‘s miserable start to the 2024/25 campaign.

39-year-old Amorim had his first game in charge on Sunday afternoon as Man Utd were held to a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town.

United’s performance at Portman Road made it clear that Amorim has a massive job at Old Trafford and he could overhaul his squad in the coming months.

The Red Devils have struggled in attack this season as they have only scored 13 goals in their 12 Premier League matches.

Alejandro Garnacho is their leading scorer with three goals, while Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have just three goals between them this term.

READ: Eight Man Utd kneejerk predictions on player exits after Amorim’s first game include Rashford leaving

After scoring 30 goals in all competitions during Ten Hag’s first season, Rashford’s form has rapidly declined and is being linked with a move to Ligue Un giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Earlier this week, a report claimed PSG have taken a ‘major step’ towards signing Rashford, but a report from Caught Offside claims Amorim has ‘made a firm decision’ on the England international and Hojlund.

It is noted that the ‘struggling duo’ have a future under Amorim, who ‘has made it clear that he doesn’t want them to leave the club in upcoming transfer windows’.

👉 Man Utd: Murphy predicts Amorim snub with ‘someone not at the club’ tipped to replace England star

                The report explains.

‘Sources with a close understanding of the situation have informed CaughtOffside that despite the poor form of Rashford and Hojlund up front at the moment, Amorim is keen to keep them at Old Trafford.

‘Paris Saint-Germain are long-term admirers of Rashford and are understood to be keen on the England international again at the moment due to the patchy form of Luis Enrique’s side.

‘The Ligue 1 giants lost star forward Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer in the summer, and they could surely do with a big-name attacker signing like Rashford for that left-hand forward role.

‘Still, it seems United will not be entertaining offers for Rashford any time soon, while young Danish star Hojlund will also get the chance to keep on developing and improving.’

The same cannot be said for Zirkzee, though. It is noted that it ‘might be a different story’ with the summer signing.

‘Despite impressing a great deal during his time at Bologna, Zirkzee hasn’t looked like the right level for MUFC, and it seems he could already be on his way out of the club and heading back to Italy.

‘Amorim may be happy to keep Rashford and Hojlund around, but there’s no doubt that the attack is a concern for the Red Devils at the moment, so bringing in an upgrade on Zirkzee could be important business for the club this January.’

Man Utd ‘rejected’ by Zirkzee replacement as ‘top January signing falls through’

                  man-utd-‘rejected’-by-zirkzee-replacement-as-‘top-january-signing-falls-through’

Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has ruled out a move to Man Utd in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Red Devils replaced Erik ten Hag with Ruben Amorim earlier this month after a terrible start to the new Premier League campaign.

Man Utd are currently 12th in the Premier League table after a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Sunday in Amorim’s first match in charge of the Red Devils.

They have particularly struggled to score goals in the Premier League this term with only Everton, Southampton and Crystal Palace scoring fewer than Man Utd.

Marcus Rashford scored his second of the season at Portman Road over the weekend, while both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have scored just one each.

Zirkzee, who signed from Serie A side Bologna in the summer for £37.5m, has particularly struggled this term as he attempts to get up to speed with a new league.

There have already been rumours that the Man Utd hierarchy consider him a ‘lost cause’ and are looking to replace the Netherlands international as soon as possible.

A number of Serie A clubs, including Juventus and Inter Milan, are reportedly hopeful that they can strike a deal in January for Zirkzee but Man Utd would do very to be offered anything but a loan deal in the winter transfer window.

There have been several strikers linked with a move to Man Utd too with Amorim looking to address their need for a new centre-forward after his comments about Rashford playing through the middle on Sunday.

One player believed to be on their list of striker targets is Bayer Leverkusen star Boniface with the Nigerian scoring 20 Bundesliga goals in 33 appearances since joining the German outfit in 2023 from Belgian side Union SG.

And now reports in Spain claim that ‘a top signing falls through’, referring to Boniface’s potential move to Old Trafford, with Man Utd ‘dealt a heavy blow in the winter transfer market’.

The report adds that the 23-year-old ‘has decided to rule out any possibility of joining Manchester United in the next transfer window’ and the ‘young attacker’s refusal represents a blow to the plans of the English club, who saw him as a solution to strengthen their attack for the 2025 season.’

Zirkzee’s poor form had ‘opened the door to considering Boniface as a possible replacement’ but ‘the player has hinted that he has no intention of joining Ruben Amorim’s side, complicating United’s plans to bolster their attacking line’.

New Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has been urged to target Brighton forward Danny Welbeck in January as he “needs an extra backup”.

Man Utd were held to a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town in Amorim‘s first game in charge on Sunday. Their performance in this stalemate made it clear that the 39-year-old has a huge job.

The Red Devils have struggled in front of goal this season as they only have 13 goals in their 12 Premier League matches. They are 17th in the open-play goals table.

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have just two goals between them, while Alejandro Garnacho is their leading scorer with three.

Welbeck progressed through the ranks at Man Utd and left in 2014 to join Premier League rivals Arsenal. He’s subsequently had spells at Watford and Brighton.

The 34-year-old has surpassed expectations at Brighton as he’s been a great signing and has reached another level this season. He has six goals and two assists in his 12 Premier League appearances.

Ex-Man Utd star Lee Sharpe has encouraged his former club to re-sign Welbeck in January.

“Manchester United could look at someone like Danny Welbeck in January,” Sharpe said.

I know he’s been at the club before, but he’s doing brilliant things at Brighton this season and looks a really assured and mature player at the moment. He’s working his socks off, creating and scoring goals, and he looks like he’s in his prime down there at the AMEX Stadium.

“That’s the type of striker I’m thinking of that is bright enough and strong enough to have a really good effect in the Premier League.

“I think Rasmus Højlund will come good eventually, but he’s still a bit raw and still needs a little but more composure, so the club probably need a bit of extra backup.”

Sharpe has also explained why he would prefer to sign £33m-rated Liam Delap from Ipswich Town instead of the 2024 top scorer in Europe Viktor Gyokeres.

“Viktor Gyökeres is having a really good season so far and I have no doubt Ruben Amorim would set up to get the best out of him, but he wouldn’t be my number one choice for the Premier League,” Sharpe added.

“It depends if the club want to go for an older and more experience person to lead the line, but someone like Liam Delap from Ipswich is a fantastic player and had another good game on Sunday.

“He really gave Matthijs de Ligt a hard time and held onto the ball very well.”

On Marcus Rashford, he continued: “Marcus Rashford scored against Ipswich on Sunday, but I’d actually say he’s better on the wing than he is up front.

“He’s more suited at facing up to people rather than playing with his back to goal, so I’d say he looks a lot stronger coming in from the left and cutting in on his right foot.

“Rashford isn’t suited to holding the ball up and having to produce moments on his own. He’d require a lot more coaching if he was to continue in the number nine position, so I think he’ll eventually go back over to the left once Amorim has found a good balance within the rest of the team.”

Man Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal? Gyokeres has ‘his heart set on’ a move to one club

Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has ‘his heart set’ on a move to Man Utd in the summer despite links to Arsenal and Chelsea, according to reports.

The Red Devils have emerged as potential candidates for Gyokeres after Ruben Amorim was announced as the new Man Utd head coach earlier this month.

There have been rumours that Amorim has asked his new club to sign Gyokeres with the Sweden international scoring 24 goals in 20 appearances so far this term.

Gyokeres also scored five goals in two matches for Sweden in the last international break and he continues to attract attention from the Premier League with Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea all mooted as possible destinations.

And now, in an article about Barcelona’s interest in Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, The Sun has claimed that Gyokeres wants a move to Old Trafford above a transfer anywhere else.

The report in The Sun adds:

‘SunSport understands Sporting Lisbon striker Gyokeres has his heart set on a move to the Premier League and a reunion with ex-boss Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.

‘But Isak is viewed as a plan B by Barcelona who think he can help lead them to success in Spain and in Europe.’

Former Man Utd defender Paul Parker reckons Gyokeres could be “one of the best signings in recent times in the Premier League” if the Red Devils can get a deal over the line for the Swede.

Parker told BonusCodeBets.co.uk: “I think it would be amazing if Man United can sign Gyokeres. In my opinion, it would be one of the best possible signings and maybe one of the best signings in recent times in the Premier League.

“He knows how Amorim wants to play and vice versa. He would be the perfect addition, and also add some competition to Højlund who really needs it, because he hasn’t shown enough yet.

“Gyokeres would be a top striker in the Premier League.”

Parker added: “I saw a lot of him when he was at Coventry. He was so good, but he has just improved even more since at Sporting.

“He is a goal scoring machine, and he is arguably one of the best strikers in the world.

“A lot of us were surprised that Sporting managed to sign him, because other clubs here in England should have been interested, but in the end he joined Sporting, which has been a very good decision.”
