Man Utd: Spurs boss Postecoglou responds to Rashford links as Romano reveals ‘dream’ move

    man-utd:-spurs-boss-postecoglou-responds-to-rashford-links-as-romano-reveals-‘dream’-move

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou insists he is “not interested” in reports linking Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford with a move to north London.

Rashford was dropped, along with Alejandro Garnacho, for Ruben Amorim’s 20-man squad for their Manchester Derby against Man City.

Man Utd forward Rashford has been linked with moves to Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain and revealed on Tuesday that he is ready for a “new challenge” away from Old Trafford in an interview with journalist Henry Winter.

Tottenham has been mooted as a potential destination for Rashford although there haven’t been any concrete links as the England international decides his future.

When quizzed about Rashford, Tottenham boss Postecoglou said: “There’s always noise about Manchester United, come on mate. Where have you been?

“No interest. Don’t care. Not interested. He is a Manchester United player. A very good player, they have plenty of good players, but I manage my players and other managers will manage their own players.

“In terms of Marcus’ situation, I have no real desire to examine it any further.

“If I looked at everyone we were linked to, I would have no time to do anything else to be honest. I have got other people to do that part of the process.

“For us, we’ve been pretty disciplined in what we’re trying to build here and we’ll continue to be so.”

Asked once more if Rashford was a potential target for January, Postecoglou insisted: “That’s not on my radar. You can ask me about Marcus but you can ask me about every single Premier League footballer and I’ll say the same.”

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that a move to Spain is the “dream” destination for Rashford as he considers a move away from Man Utd.

Romano said: “Looks like Marcus Rashford confirms that he’s opening the doors to a Manchester United exit. And what I can say is that on the club side, they are absolutely feeling the same.

“Not now, not even on Sunday. It’s even before that Manchester United felt that it could be time in 2025, January or summer, based on proposals, to part ways with Marcus Rashford.

“At the moment, Man United have not received any formal bid, any formal approach.

“The dream of Marcus Rashford one day is to play in Spain. Marcus Rashford would love to play in Spain one day.

“But what I’m told is that at the moment, there are still no advanced or concrete negotiations. For example, from Saudi, they are very attentive to these sort of situations.”

Man Utd: Scholes gives brutally honest view on whether the Red Devils should sell Rashford

      man-utd:-scholes-gives-brutally-honest-view-on-whether-the-red-devils-should-sell-rashford

Paul Scholes doesn’t think Man Utd should worry about Marcus Rashford performing elsewhere as he’s not playing well for the Red Devils.

Ruben Amorim left Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho out of his 20-man squad to face Man City as Man Utd won 2-1 in the Manchester Derby on Sunday.

There had been reports the previous week that Man Utd are open to ‘top offers’ for Rashford in January as the Red Devils look to free up some funds to bring in some signings for Amorim.

And on Tuesday, after being left out of the squad on Sunday, Rashford told journalist Henry Winter in an interview that he is ready to leave Man Utd for a “new challenge”.

There have already been rumours that he could move to Barcelona in a swap deal for Frenkie de Jong, while his preference is understood to be Spain.

And Scholes insists Rashford has “been nowhere near” the standard required at Man Utd for about 18 months now.

Scholes said on The Overlap: “I hate seeing local lads leave.Especially when there is still time.

“I remember Danny Welbeck was just cast aside. But the thing with Marcus is, he was so good two years ago. He had that season where he scored 30 goals and just never managed to get to that level again and that’s why he gets the stick.

“He showed his standards and now for the last 18 months or two years, he’s been nowhere near.

“There’s something not right, whether that is the support system around him, I don’t know. Definitely not right.”

Scholes added: “He doesn’t look happy, the lad.

“Even if he’s scoring a goal. You think, what’s wrong with him. Is he getting the right support behind the scenes?

“You don’t know what’s happening. But it did happen with Erik ten Hag; I think he was late for a meeting before the Wolves game, and again, he’s been left out of this squad. I think his on and off the field choices aren’t quite right.”

Amorim played down the possibility of Rashford leaving in the January transfer window, despite the England international’s claims, but Scholes insists that Man Utd can’t fret over what he’ll do elsewhere as he’s been underperforming for a long time at Old Trafford.

Scholes continued: “You can’t be worried about him going to another club and starting to produce, there is every chance that could happen. But he’s not doing it for us now.”

Shock club readying sensational loan offer for €55m United star who “dreams of playing in Spain” – report

        shock-club-readying-sensational-loan-offer-for-e55m-united-star-who-“dreams-of-playing-in-spain”-–-report

Manchester United superstar Marcus Rashford is set to dominate headlines ahead of the January transfer window after his bombshell revelation regarding his future.

In an interview relayed by The Peoples Person, the Mancunian revealed that he is open to leaving his boyhood club in order to enjoy a new challenge.

His latest comments coupled with the fact that head coach Ruben Amorim dropped him for the all-important Manchester derby at the weekend seems to suggest an exit is highly likely whether in January or next summer.

A move to Spain has been mooted but long-term admirers Barcelona have been ruled out due to the United No 10’s massive wages and the Catalan giants’ own economic difficulties.

        Atletico want Rashford on loan

TBR Football have now claimed that Atletico Madrid are open to a sensational loan approach for the Englishman but whether the Red Devils accept remains to be seen.

The England international would love to play in La Liga and a move to Real Madrid or Barca would please him but both giants are not interested in the United forward currently.

“TBR Football are able to exclusively confirm that Marcus Rashford is attracting a prospective loan offer from Atletico Madrid as he looks to be heading towards the exit door at Old Trafford.

“The Wythenshawe-born winger dreams of playing in Spain, however, potential transfers to either Real Madrid or Barcelona do not lie in his destiny.

“So far, both Spanish giants have shown no interest in signing Rashford, with Diego Simeone’s side looking like the only possible option he has if he wishes to play his football in La Liga.”

        Will INEOS accept?

The report also mentions that the 27-year-old has been offered to the likes of Bayern Munich and Fenerbahce while Arsenal and Chelsea have no plans of going after the United academy graduate.

Either way, INEOS would prefer to move him on to a club abroad in a straight sale in order to recoup a sizeable fee which would count as pure profit owing to the forward’s homegrown status.

However, TBR does not mention whether the approach will be made in January or next summer nor does it include details of whether the initial loan offer will include an option or obligation to buy and for what amount.

Rashford’s current deal with United is valid until 2028 with his current market value standing at €55 million according to Transfermarkt.

The player’s comments does make it clear than a separation is the best outcome for both parties but United should negotiate it at their own terms instead of agreeing a cut-price sale or just a simple loan.

United’s pursuit of marauding fullback liked by Amorim given shot in the arm as new contract details emerge – report

          united’s-pursuit-of-marauding-fullback-liked-by-amorim-given-shot-in-the-arm-as-new-contract-details-emerge-–-report

Manchester United target Nuno Mendes is reportedly not close to signing a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain.

The left wingback position at United has become a major issue for Ruben Amorim, something previous manager Erik ten Hag also struggled with.

Tyrell Malacia’s incredibly severe injury that kept him out for well over a year and Luke Shaw’s constant relapses have resulted in Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui both being forced to cover on the left despite their preference of playing on the right.

Amorim’s side have been linked with numerous left back options including Alphonso Davies, Milos Kerkez and Rayan Ait-Nouri in recent weeks.

Nuno Mendes is also thought to be one option the club is keen on but hopes seemed dashed when it was reported he was close to signing a new deal with his current team, Paris Saint-Germain.

Nonetheless, it seems that this transfer still has some life in it yet, according to reports from Germany.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has stated that “Manchester United remain strongly interested in Nuno Mendes as revealed in our show three weeks ago.”

PSG would love to extend the 22 year old’s contract but the reporter states that he has “been told that it is currently not planned for him to sign soon, as there are many top suitors.”

Interestingly, Mendes and United boss Amorim share the same agency, and the Red Devils are aware of Mendes’ situation.

It is suggested that Alphonso Davies still remains a major target but if he decides to stay at Bayern Munich then Mendes and AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez are “currently the two expensive preferred left-back options.”

Mendes played one season under Amorim back in 2020-2021 while they were both at Sporting Lisbon and the marauding full-back would be familiar with his tactical demands in the wingback position.

The 22-year-old is also seen as a balanced player where “his natural ball progression skills and flair could help in exposing defences, while his awareness and concentration provide more security at the back.”

He is currently enjoying a successful season in Paris where he has scored two goals and provided two assists in 15 matches in all competitions.

Man Utd have ruined Rashford’s career
At the risk of over-reacting to one mail, the Rashford slander all around the internet today is gross and quite telling.

Calling him unambitious is rich. If he was “ambitious” he’d have dumped your cesspool of a club 5-7 years ago. Consider this – he’s not leaving after being “dropped for one game”, he’s leaving after wasting almost a decade with his home club despite insane mismanagement and lack of ambition or direction. Championing Antony, the glass-based Mount and a soon-to-be Chelsea player is hilarious.

Personally, I think United failed Rashford far more than just with a lack of ambition. This man should’ve been England’s premiere attacking threat for most of the last decade. He should’ve made Harry Kane moot by now. But United’s lack of coaching stability, horrific appointments, misunderstanding of his abilities as a player and how to utilize him correctly and build support for him is the main reason he now seems like he’s done at 27. To this day no one can confidently tell what his best position is and the United trash-fire is a big reason why.

Sure, he’s not been perfect. Not even close. Probably not the best attitude ever. But pretending that him looking for new options at this point is some kind of huge slight against the club is embarrassing. It’s clearly in the best interest of both parties to go their separate ways now, but it’s been in his best interest for like 5 years now and he stuck around for you. And he took so much abuse during that time, it’s wild.

That interview is actually quite harmless and respectful. Let that man go in peace, you’ve ruined his career already, he deserves it. Hopefully, he finds himself somewhere nice like Spain or Italy and finds his feet back in a slightly more easy-going league. Maybe he can even have a revival in the national team one day.

And if your retort is “well he was happy to collect a massive paycheck…” Well yeah. Of course he was. Stop being a child. This is a grown man being paid for his job, which your club is failing to maximize. You ran a potential club icon to the absolute ground and are now kicking him on his way out. Shame on you.
Tom, LFC (the less said about the emotional City fans the better. Take a deep breath and think back to the times when you were absolute sh*t, it might help you with proportions.)

👉 Marcus Rashford is ‘talentless ambitionless spineless waste of space’

…Firstly, to Craig and Steve Jones, are you okay lads?

Kudos to The Editor for including those two erudite pieces of correspondence. They really added to the debate…..

My main issue, for want of a better word, is with the points raised in his letter by Aman.

Do you really think that Marcus Rashford has decided to leave just because he got left out on Sunday? Surely this goes back much further than that and, as ever, completely ignores the absolute s*it-show that the Club has been for years. It’s always the players’ fault through, right?

I’m pretty convinced that Marcus Rashford’s biggest current problem is actually being at Man Utd, not his “lazy and careless attitude” or “lack of willpower”.

Time will tell, but I am also pretty sure that there will indeed be decent offers for a player who scored 30 goals just two seasons ago.

Credit to you Aman for sticking with it though and suggesting that the perpetually injured Mason Mount (a central midfielder) and also Jadon Sancho are both better than Rashford. It should be noted of course that the latter has been good everywhere, except at Man Utd.

            What does that tell you?
Gareth (Not even a United fan)

…I’m a Manchester United fan, and have found Marcus Rashford’s general malaise as frustrating as anyone. But to offer a defence, I read something very true in a shared tweet/ Facebook post/Reddit comment a little while ago (where all the wisdom is found now, tbf).

It said something along the lines of: there are three things that everyone needs for them to fulfil a job role. The first one is time, of which you get eight hours a day, and is always replenished – not a problem. The second one is energy, which dwindles over the course of a few weeks/months, which is why we get annual leave – to have a break and come back with our energy levels topped up. And the third one is ‘giving a sh*t’, which is diminished by bad management, customers or managers with sh*tty attitudes, and so on. The thing with that one is that it can’t be replaced – once it’s gone, it’s gone.

This rang very true with me, to the point where it would ideally be taught to those studying for management qualifications. It also could well be true of Rashford – I’d fully understand if after training at subpar training facilities, playing in a stadium with a leaky roof, and seeing revolving doors bring in and take away players and managers with insufficient quality, he simply can’t muster any enthusiasm any more. Why would you?
            Dan, Worthing

Thanks for giving Aman the opportunity to show yet again that certain footballers – in this case Marcus Rashford – cannot win whatever they do. Rashford is a footballer, who wants to play football; having fallen out of favour with the new manager, he has suggested he might have to move clubs in order to do this. Consequently, he is marked out as someone with “no willpower to back his talent” and “a lazy and careless attitude”.

Imagine for a second that Rashford or his agent had not made these intimations to the media; there is no way whatsoever that a Rashford not playing but equally not complaining is considered by either the media or the fans as “working hard in training to win his place back”. It’s absolutely nailed on he’s considered the modern-day Winston Bogarde, collecting millions in wages without actually playing any matches to earn any of it.

For better or worse, Rashford has put himself in a bit of corner, but this could have an advantage for Manchester United. If he wants a move, he’ll need to play well to convince someone he is worth the high wages all United players are on compared to most other clubs, and not merely the negative aspects of the situation Aman has chosen to focus on.

Ultimately, Rashford has been below his best but has still been better than some other players who don’t have such a high profile outside of football. A bit of poor form and grumbling doesn’t change that he’s still a good player, and overall, it’s in Manchester United’s better interests to have him happy, motivated and playing well than it would be to sell him.
            Ed Quoththeraven

            Rashford going nowhere in January…
Marcus Rashford is under contract until 2028. He is on wages of £350k a week. Whilst he’s inefficient in terms of pounds per goal (over £1M per goal apparently) he does occasionally find the net to the extent that he’s our top league scorer with a whopping four. It’s a low bar.

He doesn’t seem to fit United’s system but would he fit any other top side’s system? He doesn’t track back for United and this seems to be a requirement for all players at top clubs these days.

So he’s got a long contract, extreme wages, doesn’t score enough or work hard enough to justify the wages. Doesn’t really fit in to any top teams and even if people think he would do well at Arsenal, United would not want to sell to a “rival” (lol). For the clubs that he’s likely interested in going to, he’s not a good fit.

And whilst United need the money, they would have to spend immediately to cover the loss of Rashford’s modest goal output because we are not exactly firing on all cylinders. He would garner the fabled pure profit but no one is going to pay up front cash for him in January, having been on such pathetic form since 2023. The best that can happen is a loan with obligation to buy, whilst covering all his wages. United would then be dependent upon some poor sap agreeing to the same deal for their star winger.

And emotionally, a United academy product who has scored so many goals for the club, leaving in what’s meant to be his prime is a bad look for United.

For the reasons above I think Rashford leaving in January is a big fat nothing burger. Having said he wants to leave and the pressure off, Amorim will get a tune out of Rashford until the summer, when he will still have three years on his contract. That will be the time to review.

That said, if we somehow manage to get Nico Williams to join and use Rashford to pay for that (through the magic of pure profit and amortisation) I’ll probably wet myself, Gary Neville style.
            Ashmundo

            How PR works
So Aman went off on a hysterical rant about Rashford throwing his toys out of the pram in an interview only two days after a derby win.

But this interview was published the day after it was widely reported that he was available for transfer. For instance, Jamie Jackson in The Guardian wrote two separate articles about this (he does love to procrastinate does Jamie).

The next day we have Amorim giving a presser saying he wants Rashford to stay.

So, you’ve got the club (presumably) leaking that he’s for sale, the player saying he wants to leave and why, and the manager saying he wants him to stay. Call me a cynic but the timings or contents do not look to be coincidental.

But nevertheless the less Aman chooses only to beat on Marcus Rashford. Why?

For what it’s worth I didn’t see much toy throwing or ranting. Seemed fairly calm and reasonable.

            Rashford: The emerging narrative
I think there’s only one way this is headed.

Rashford will come off the bench at Old Trafford on Sunday, score in the 94th minute to rescue a point, run to the technical area and stand in front of Amorim, close his eyes and point to his temple.

Whereupon a dragon will descend from the battleship-grey Manchester murk overhead and incinerate Rashford on the spot prompting Garnacho to intensify his warm up and Barney Ronay to be sucked immediately into another dimension through the force generated by the closure of this narrative loop.

            Just wait and see.

European giants rule out blockbuster move for United superstar INEOS “determined” to move on – report

              european-giants-rule-out-blockbuster-move-for-united-superstar-ineos-“determined”-to-move-on-–-report

Beleaguered Manchester United superstar Marcus Rashford dropped a bombshell late on Tuesday when he claimed that he is ready for a new challenge away from Old Trafford.

In the interview given to reputed journalist Henry Winter, the Mancunian explained how the recent Manchester derby dropping episode affected him as well as his suitability to Ruben Amorim’s system.

The Portuguese took the bold call to drop two of his most potent attackers — the Englishman and Alejandro Garnacho for the trip to the Etihad Stadium but his team still triumphed while playing a dominant brand of football.

The ex-Sporting Lisbon boss wanted to try the England international up front, a position he is not the most comfortable in, often explaining in public that he prefers the left flank.

              Rashford wants to leave

However, the new head coach’s system does not use traditional wingers and his demand for hard work out of possession is not something that naturally suits the United superstar.

His below-par on-field performances and off-field controversies seem to suggest that a separation is the best outcome for both parties with Winter referring to La Liga as a potential destination.

Long-term admirers Barcelona have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old but as per SPORT, their economic situation coupled with Rashford’s humongous wages makes an approach highly unlikely.

The United No 10 currently earns £375,000 per week (as per capology), something far beyond the Catalan giants’ reach.

Rashford has to agree to take a huge hit on his earnings and the La Liga side has to sell a few stars in order to make room for the Englishman in their wage bracket for a move to work out. Currently, the Camp Nou outfit have no such plans.

“Marcus Rashford is already making waves in the market. Manchester United are determined to let him go this summer to carry out a real revolution in their squad and his transfer fee could be around 40 million euros, a real bargain given his performance and age.

              Barca cannot afford him

“At this time, Barça would not be a viable option to undertake the operation given their situation with the salary cap. Either the player lowers his salary significantly or Barça would have to make a sale to find space and they are not considering it.

“Rashford is a player who has always been of interest to the Blaugrana club and a few years ago they bid for him when he was about to leave his contract. At that time, United put pressure on him and offered him a million-dollar salary to keep him, but now the divorce has been consummated.”

Not many clubs can afford to pay a substantial fee while also paying Rashford’s wages and realistically, Saudi Arabia could be an option but the player has no interest in moving to the Middle East at this stage of his career.

United will be entitled to cough up a substantial payoff should the forward have to leave and join a club where he gets a lower wage packet. A lot for INEOS to ponder as the winter window approaches.

Not fit for purpose: Amorim must sell controversial superstar in January before more damage is done – opinion

                not-fit-for-purpose:-amorim-must-sell-controversial-superstar-in-january-before-more-damage-is-done-–-opinion

Manchester United would do well to part ways with Marcus Rashford this January, given the recent developments concerning the player both on and off the pitch.

At the end of the 2022/23 season, Rashford was on top of the world. Scoring 30 goals in all competitions, the England international won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, topping off what was arguably his best campaign to date.

Sadly, his form tumbled last season. In 43 matches in all competitions, Rashford scored just eight goals while bagging five assists. (Transfermarkt)

Still, it was difficult to lay the blame squarely on Rashford, given the poor season that the entire squad experienced under Erik ten Hag.

But even for those fans who were willing to give Rashford more time to turn the ship around, patience is running out.

The 27 year old has consistently struggled to replicate his fine form from two seasons back. While four goals in 15 Premier League matches is a better goal-to-game ratio than last season, Rashford has consistently failed to show quality on the ball, with his dribbling and physicality far from satisfactory.

Rashford has completed just 26% of his dribbles while winning only 33% of his ground duels. His passing accuracy of 77% and long ball accuracy of 40% have also been underwhelming, especially since his role as a winger includes providing support to his teammates from the flank during attacking build-ups.

Even if he were to shift into a wing-back role in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation, it appears that he would not be up to the challenge. Rashford has made just 0.5 tackles per game while averaging only 0.3 interceptions. (Stats via Sofascore)

In contrast, fellow winger Amad Diallo has shown his ability to play as both a traditional winger and a wing-back. The youngster has averaged 1.6 tackles per match (more than triple that of Rashford) and 0.6 interceptions, double that of his struggling teammate.

Amad has also proven more clinical in his attacking role, with 52% dribbling, 84% passing, 46% long balls, and winning 53% of his ground duels. (Sofascore)

In recent days, the cracks in Rashford’s life at United have dramatically deepened. Amorim took the controversial decision to exclude Rashford from the squad that faced Manchester City, which was a crucial match for the club.

The United boss admitted that his decision was influenced by Rashford’s performances in training and perhaps his behaviour off the pitch as well.

Yesterday, The Peoples Person discussed Rashford’s recent comments on his future. Asked about whether he may leave United, Rashford replied: “For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next step.”

“When I leave, it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person,” he reportedly added.

While Amorim insisted during his latest pre-match press conference that Rashford helps to make United a better team, it might be time for the United manager to cut his losses and say goodbye to Rashford.

Although the club can be grateful for his many contributions, particularly during the 2022/23 season, past heroics will not improve United’s current predicament.

When there are rising stars such as Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho making waves, it becomes increasingly difficult to excuse Rashford’s underperformances. Amorim would do well to part ways with Rashford, instead putting his efforts into nurturing the next generation of United stars who will serve the club for years to come.

United receive a response from sensational Inter Milan ace after their recent approach regarding January swoop – report

Manchester United’s problems at left wingback are well known with Ruben Amorim forced to play Diogo Dalot in that position due to his versatility.

The Portuguese coach has admitted that his compatriot is more suited to the right-hand side but owing to Luke Shaw’s injury-enforced absence and Tyrell Malacia’s form, Amorim has had no other choice but to keep playing Dalot.

The former Sporting Lisbon boss has already informed INEOS that he would like to add to his wingback options during the January window.

Names like Alphonso Davies, former academy graduate Alvaro Fernandez and Serie A superstar Theo Hernandez have all been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

                  Dimarco approach made

Now, Tuttosport (via Football Italia) have added Inter Milan ace Federico Dimarco to the list and have claimed that the Red Devils had spoken to his camp regarding a winter switch to Manchester in recent weeks.

The 27-year-old has three goals and five assists this season while last term, he managed six goals and eight assists, which highlights his attacking ability, a must in the modern game.

Add to this the fact that he plays mainly as a wingback for the Nerazzurri and the Italian would have been the perfect fit for Amorim’s system.

However, Dimarco has turned down the 20-time English league champions in favour of staying at the San Siro with Inter now ready to offer a brand-new contract extension to their star defender.

                  Unlikely to leave Inter

The Italy international is a boyhood fan of the club and has no interest in moving on in the winter. His current deal is valid until 2027 with the Serie A giants preparing to extend his deal by a year or two.

Dimarco has a market value of €60 million and Inter will likely ask for more to part ways with their talisman, something the Red Devils cannot afford to pay due to their PSR situation.

Arsenal had also tried and failed with an attempt last summer and it will be interesting to see which player United turn to to solve the left wingback mess.

As per reports, United cannot go all gung-ho in the winter and it remains to be seen if the club dip into the loan market to address the situation or sell players to fund new arrivals.

Man Utd transfers: Amorim picks ‘two preferred’ replacements as INEOS prepare for snub amid ‘growing feeling’

According to reports, Manchester United have picked out their “two preferred expensive” replacements for Luke Shaw if they miss out on Alphonso Davies.

The Red Devils are likely to be busy in the transfer market in 2025 as new head coach Ruben Amorim tries to put his stamp on his squad.

One of their priorities should be to sign a new left-back as Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have been dogged by injuries over the past couple of seasons.

When fit, Shaw can be one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, but his fitness issues have meant he’s only been on the pitch for 98 minutes in three appearances across all competitions.

United could do with replacing Shaw and they are linked with several potential targets ahead of the winter transfer window.

Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies has been mentioned as a potential target as he is among the 20 best footballers who could become a free agent in 2025.

Man Utd reportedly have an ‘opening’ to sign Davies as he has been ‘angered’ by Bayern Munich’s treatment of him, but they face competition from Real Madrid.

The La Liga giants should be considered the favourites to sign Davies and a report from German journalist Florian Plettenberg claims Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes and AC Milan’s Theo Hernandes are their “two preferred options” if they miss out on the Bayern Munich star.

Plettenberg claimed: “Manchester United remain strongly interested in Nuno #Mendes as revealed in our show three weeks ago.

“Paris Saint-Germain want to extend with Mendes beyond 2026, but I’ve been told that it is currently not planned for him to sign soon, as there are many top suitors. Mendes and Amorim share the same agency, and #MUFC are aware of Mendes’ situation!

“22 y/o Mendes and Theo Hernández are currently the two expensive preferred left-back options for ManUtd if Alphonso Davies extends his contract with Bayern.”

Man Utd are also targeting up-and-coming talents and Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling has been mooted as a possible signing amid his breakout season for the Premier League strugglers.

Football Insider are reporting that Man Utd are ‘racing’ Newcastle United to sign Dibling and there is a ‘growing feeling’ that he could leave his boyhood club next year.

‘Dibling has caught the eye with his displays and is now said to be on the radar of a number of top sides who are weighing up a move.

‘Newcastle are keeping tabs on his progress as a potential option for their right-wing position, which they are set to prioritise ahead of the January transfer window. Man United, meanwhile, are also keen to blood young talents and help develop them into superstars at Old Trafford, as Football Insider revealed in November.

‘However, any deal is thought to be more likely to take place in the summer as Southampton are not willing to see a key player leave mid-way through the season.

‘There is a growing feeling that a deal can be agreed as Dibling would be equally keen on the step up to either Man United or Newcastle.

‘Sources also say that Southampton could be forced to cash in on the winger if they are relegated from the Premier League come May in an attempt to balance the books.’

                      football-quiz:-recall-the-man-utd-xi-on-marcus-rashford’s-debut-versus-arsenal

Can you recall the Manchester United XI when Marcus Rashford marked his Premier League debut with a brace against Arsenal in 2016?

United were managed by Louis van Gaal, and Rashford was thrust into the side amid an injury crisis that saw United field an unfamiliar side against the Gunners.

Rashford scored twice in the first half before teeing up one of the midfielders for the third in the second half.

Things have gone sour between Rashford and United but how quickly can you remember Van Gaal’s side around the then-teenage forward? The defence has a very makeshift look about it…
