European club submit loan offer with £60m purchase option for United sensation not in Amorim’s good books – report

    european-club-submit-loan-offer-with-60m-purchase-option-for-united-sensation-not-in-amorim’s-good-books-–-report

Ruben Amorim has not been afraid to take bold calls since his appointment as seen from what transpired before the Manchester derby last Sunday.

The Portuguese dropped both his top scorers — Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho for the clash, yet his team were in control against Pep Guardiola’s side and emerged triumphant.

“We try to evaluate everything – training, performance, game performance, engagement with the teammates, push the teammates up,” was the reasoning given by the new head coach behind the decision which was supported by INEOS.

The Argentine has since returned to the matchday squad for the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash against Tottenham Hotspur with the head coach revealing that the academy graduate is unhappy with him for his decision to drop him.

    Garna back in the squad

“He trained really well. He seems a little bit upset with me and that is perfect! I was really, really happy because I would do the same. He is ready for this game,” the coach said.

Recently, the 20-year-old has courted controversy for his below-par training and off-field conduct while both the forward and his brother were also accused of leaking team news with the coach even talking to the player afterwards.

Both have categorically denied those charges but the rumour mill has gone into overdrive, linking the Argentina international with an exit from Old Trafford.

Atletico Madrid were linked with a shock swoop recently while CaughtOffside have now claimed than an unnamed European giant have come forward with a loan offer with an obligation to buy for £60 million.

    Loan to buy offer

“CaughtOffside sources now understand that the Argentinian has since attracted interest from an as yet unnamed European club to sign him on loan from Red Devils with a £60m permanent purchase option.

“Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, FC Bayern Munich, Chelsea, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al Hilal are all rumoured to be interested, with one of them seeing Garnacho as their main transfer target to strengthen their squad due to his age and general performance levels.”

Garnacho is the top-scorer for United this season with eight goals and four assists in 24 appearances and his contract with the Red Devils is valid until 2028 having signed a new deal last year.

United have no intention of selling their prized asset just yet but it is upto the winger to impress Amorim and reclaim his position as a starter after the recent controversies.

Man Utd ‘submit’ £48m ‘offer’ for ‘priority’ Rashford replacement with Amorim ‘confident’ for two reasons

According to reports, Manchester United have made Nico Williams their ‘main target’ as they look to replace wantaway forward Marcus Rashford.

The Red Devils have reportedly entered the market for a new winger as they could do with replacing Rashford, who is keen to leave the Premier League giants in 2025.

After being omitted from Man Utd’s squad for the Manchester derby on Sunday, Rashford admitted that he is “ready” to leave his boyhood club.

Rashford said: “If I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person.

“When I leave I’ll make a statement and it will be from me.

“When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.

“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

It remains to be seen who will sign Rashford, but the under-fire forward is reportedly ‘attracting a loan offer’ from La Liga as he looks to finalise a ‘dream’ transfer.

Man Utd are linked with several possible replacements and Williams is said to be the latest player on their radar after he starred for Athletic Bilbao and Spain last season.

The talented winger was targeted by Premier League clubs and Barcelona in the summer but opted to stick with Athletico Bilbao. However, he could leave the La Liga outfit after starting this campaign with two goals and five assists in his 22 appearances.

A report in Spain claims new Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim is ‘targeting Williams to be Rashford’s replacement’.

Williams is reportedly Man Utd’s ‘main target’ as he has been deemed the ‘perfect profile’ for the Premier League giants.

The Red Devils are said to have ‘taken the lead’ in the race to sign him by ‘submitting a formal offer’ as his 58 million euros (£48m) ‘makes the operation affordable’.

Man Utd reportedly face competition from two European giants, but Amorim is ‘confident’ for two reasons.

‘Despite United’s obvious interest, the path to signing Nico Williams will not be easy. Both PSG and FC Barcelona have set their sights on the player, aware of his potential to lead any sporting project. The Parisian team sees him as a perfect complement to their attack, while the Catalans consider him an alternative for the future to strengthen their squad.

‘However, Manchester United seem determined not to let their target slip away. Beyond the sporting aspect, the signing of Williams would send a strong message to the market: the Red Devils are willing to bet heavily to return to being protagonists in Europe.

‘For now, Amorim is confident that the attractiveness of his project and the club’s financial capacity will be enough to close a deal that could change the face of the team.’

“We want to give a different response”: Amorim favourite desperate to exact revenge on Spurs after league debacle

        “we-want-to-give-a-different-response”:-amorim-favourite-desperate-to-exact-revenge-on-spurs-after-league-debacle

The last time Manchester United met Tottenham Hotspur, it was in the Premier League and Erik ten Hag was in charge. It turned out to be a day to forget for the Red Devils as they lost 0-3 at Old Trafford back in September.

It was a horrible start as the visitors took the lead within the opening three minutes with skipper Bruno Fernandes shown a straight red in the first half in what was yet another terrible call by the referee against United.

Diogo Dalot, who started as the left-back on that day, has promised that Thursday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final encounter will be a different affair and for that to happen, the 20-time English league champions will have to start better.

“It’s going to be a good game, especially because of the feeling that we left the last game that we played against them at Old Trafford,” the defender told club media. “I think we didn’t play our best. So we want to give a different response in these type of games.

United want to exact revenge vs Spurs

“I think we started the game in the worst way possible. So I think we have to, from the start, show that we are going there to win the game. We want to go to Wembley again.

“So these are the best games to play against really good teams. They are a good team, so it’s a good challenge that we are looking forward to.”

United will be buoyant after Sunday’s Manchester derby triumph in which the Old Trafford side displayed a degree of control not seen in the recent past.

They went toe-to-toe with Pep Guardiola’s side, something Dalot acknowledged. It was a sharp cry from what had transpired against Arsenal early in December.

Away at the Emirates, United were comfortable with the ball, but failed to make their possession count and looked like they lacked ideas up front.

“I had the opportunity to say it was probably the first time, since I arrived, for me personally when I played at the Etihad. It was probably the first time that we felt that we were in control. In control of the game but also emotionally controlled. We never lost our heads.

        United progressing under Amorim

“I think it was the biggest difference from the Arsenal game. Although we had the control also, in my opinion, against Arsenal, it was just that lack of aggression in the final third. That lack of belief that we could score at any moment, even when we were 2-0 down, I think that it was the flipside of this for this game.

“We were completely the opposite. Even when we were losing 1-0 against City, we believed that we could score at any moment. And I think that’s the big thing, that was the biggest change. So you can see also progress from here.”

While progress has been seen ever since Amorim took charge, football is a results-oriented business and any team is as good as their next result. And United can send another powerful message to their rivals if they can make it to Wembley.

“But like I said, if you don’t do it in the next game, it doesn’t really feel the same way. So we have to keep this momentum and keep the same things for the upcoming games.”

26-year-old United star is better leader than Bruno Fernandes, claims teammate

          26-year-old-united-star-is-better-leader-than-bruno-fernandes,-claims-teammate

Amad Diallo has suggested Bruno Fernandes isn’t the best leader at Manchester United.

Fernandes has been one of the stand-out players during the early days of the Ruben Amorim era, with the United skipper stepping up on the pitch to lead his side by example.

He has been directly involved in four goals in five Premier League games under Amorim. The 30-year-old was also brilliant under interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy, managing two goals and an assist in just two league appearances.

However, Amorim has been forced to deal with multiple off-field issues, having entered a dressing room that certainly lacks accountability and leadership.

This also raises question marks on the captain’s leadership quality when it comes to keeping his teammates in check.

United legend Roy Keane has time and again insisted that it is the senior players’ responsibility to ensure the dressing room is disciplined.

In recent times, Amad has been one of the few United players who has impressed with his work ethic and discipline, both on and off the pitch. The winger has patiently waited for his chance and done well in the limited minutes he has been handed.

Recently, the in-form Ivorian was tasked with building his ultimate United player. He named Marcus Rashford when it came to right-foot and pace. For finishing, his preferred pick was Fernandes.

However, when asked about leadership, his pick was Lisandro Martinez, 26, ahead of the Portuguese maestro.

“Leadership?” Diallo was asked. “Leadership? Licha (Lisandro Martinez),” he replied.

To be fair to the 22-year-old, Martinez isn’t a very surprising selection, as the centre-back, fondly nicknamed the Argentine butcher, has established himself as an Old Trafford favourite, partly due to his aggressive approach on the pitch.

Amad also appears to be a big fan of former club captain Harry Maguire, as he revealed he would choose the Englishman’s heading ability and strength.

Man Utd: ‘Petty’ Ratcliffe’s ‘treatment making’ staff ‘quit’ with ‘bonuses scrapped’ for ‘lowest paid’ workers

            man-utd:-‘petty’-ratcliffe’s-‘treatment-making’-staff-‘quit’-with-‘bonuses-scrapped’-for-‘lowest-paid’-workers

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been accused of ‘making’ Old Trafford staff ‘quit’ as a result of his poor ‘treatment’ of certain workers.

At the start of this year, the INEOS chief completed his takeover of Man Utd, purchasing a 27.7% stake in the Premier League giants.

As part of this deal, Ratcliffe – who has ‘injected’ more funds to increase his stake – took control of footballing matters at Old Trafford from the Glazer family and he’s already made wholesale changes.

Ratcliffe‘s overhaul of United’s recruitment model has not gone entirely to plan as former sporting director Dan Ashworth recently announced his exit after just five months in the role.

The British billionaire has also sanctioned a brutal cost-cutting programme, which has seen him quickly become an unpopular figure at Old Trafford.

Some measures have been harsher than others, but he’s received backlash for hiking ticket prices, forcing mass redundancies, scrapping bonuses and taking away Sir Alex Ferguson’s global ambassador role.

READ: Marcus Rashford to Newcastle United ‘makes enormous sense’ but Arsenal touted too

Man Utd are currently six points adrift of the Champions League places and head coach Ruben Amorim has a ‘tight budget’, so more cuts should be expected in the coming months.

The i’s Sam Cunningham has interviewed former Manchester United steward Frank Robinson, who has revealed an eye-opening insight into how Ratcliffe has treated staff since arriving at Old Trafford.

Robinson worked as a steward at Man Utd for 24 years, but he claims Ratcliffe’s ‘treatment made him quit’ and the report reveals INEOS have ‘cut steward bonuses’.

‘The i Paper can reveal that stewards employed by the club – some of the lowest paid members of staff – have seen bonuses scrapped this season.

‘Stewards used to be given £100 for every 10 matches worked but will no longer receive it.

‘A steward of the week is also awarded and had been given a £50 bonus, but the cash prize has been cut.’

In the interview, Robinson hit out at Ratcliffe and INEOS’ “pettiness” as they are “pinching off people at the bottom of the ladder”.

“A lot of stewards are leaving since Ratcliffe came in,” Robinson said.

“Up until last year they used to get an attendance bonus. Every 10 matches we did, we got a £100 bonus. Now they said you’re not having that. So they stopped that completely.

“For many years you’d have a steward of the week, someone nominated or fans wrote in and said how well this steward had done. You got £50 for that. Now they still have steward of the week, but they have no award.

“It’s very petty for a football club. You’re pinching off people at the bottom of the ladder.”

The 67-year-old continued: “Supervisors and stewards who’ve been at United for years are packing it in.

“Some stewards in their 70s, they’re putting them into the top tier of the North Stand because they know they won’t like it and they’ll leave. They can bring more agency staff in. They’re trying to force them out.

“They are getting rid of stewards and replacing them with untrained, unqualified agency staff. There’s no overheads with agency staff, no training, no uniforms, nobody having to work wages and holiday out.”

Man Utd: Keane reveals ‘only warning’ for ‘distracted’ Rashford in verdict on whether he should leave

              man-utd:-keane-reveals-‘only-warning’-for-‘distracted’-rashford-in-verdict-on-whether-he-should-leave

Roy Keane has revealed his thoughts on whether Marcus Rashford should leave Manchester United after he revealed that he wants to move elsewhere in 2025.

Earlier this week, Rashford revealed he is “ready for a new challenge” and could leave Man Utd next year.

“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” Rashford said.

“When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. If I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse.

“I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave I’ll make a statement and it will be from me.”

Rashford has been heavily criticised for his performances and attitude recently and was left out of Man Utd’s squad for the Manchester derby on Sunday.

It remains to be seen who will sign Rashford but Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly ‘confirmed their stance’ on landing the forward, who is ‘attracting a loan offer’ from La Liga.

Responded to Rashford’s interview, Keane revealed his “only warning” for the wantaway Man Utd star as he suspects a deal could “work for everybody” and “do him a world of good”.

“I don’t actually mind what he said, although it’s a bit long, but it’s spot on,” Keane said on The Rest is Football.

READ: Marcus Rashford to Newcastle United ‘makes enormous sense’ but Arsenal touted too

“Sometimes a deal just works for everybody – it’s been going on for a year or two now. There’s obviously a bit of talent there and he’s been at the club since he was a kid.

“A change would probably do him a world of good, for him and his team and family to go abroad.

“My only warning for players like that – he [Marcus Rashford] has all those traits as a footballer. If you lose that hunger, it’s hard to get it back.

“We know that for great players, it’s nothing to do with money – it’s about the next challenge and your pride.”

He continued: “Marcus seems to have lost his way, and he’s lost his hunger.

“We’ve mentioned watches and all the stuff off the field, and if he’s a bit distracted by that, it might be hard to get it back.

“He might get it back with a change of club and scenery, but I don’t think he’ll get the hunger back at United.”

United head coach Ruben Amorim has admitted that he would have handled the situation differently to Rashford as he would have “spoken with the manager”.

“I would speak with the manager,” he said.

Amorim added: “It’s hard to explain what I am going to do. I’m a little bit emotional.

“I need to prepare for the game and then we will see. Let’s focus on the team, not individual players.”

3-4-3: Amorim to once again rely on surprise weekend hero to defeat Spurs in Carabao Cup quarter-finals – prediction

                3-4-3:-amorim-to-once-again-rely-on-surprise-weekend-hero-to-defeat-spurs-in-carabao-cup-quarter-finals-–-prediction

Manchester United will take on Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night, aiming to reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, where a juicy tie with one of Liverpool, Arsenal or Newcastle United awaits.

Altay Bayindir has played in the last two Carabao Cup matches but it seems unlikely that Ruben Amorim will risk not playing Andre Onana in such a big match, in spite of his shaky form of late.

Noussair Mazraoui had to be subbed off in the last game versus Manchester City and seems to be a major doubt for the match, so despite shining in a more forward role in recent matches, Amad Diallo will likely move further back into the right wing-back position.

Diogo Dalot will therefore likely continue as the left wing back due to the injury to Luke Shaw and the magnitude of the game for Tyrell Malacia, who is still in the process of regaining match fitness.

Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt have been staples of Ruben Amorim’s back three and were solid against City at the weekend, so it seems improbable Amorim will break up the duo.

The manager’s choice regarding the third centre-back will be interesting as he may be tempted to give Leny Yoro another chance after he got his first start against Nottingham Forest earlier in the month.

Nonetheless, Harry Maguire impressed against City, and afforded extra protection in a back three, he was one of the standout performers and is likely to get the nod again.

We expect Manuel Ugarte to keep his place in midfield after impressing in tough away fixtures versus Arsenal and City this month already. Kobbie Mainoo will likely start beside him as Amorim will demand energy in the middle of the park against a proactive Spurs side.

With Marcus Rashford out of the squad and Mason Mount injured, Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho are likely to be the two number tens.

The young Argentine will naturally be champing at the bit to play his part after being omitted for the derby last weekend.

Rasmus Hojlund will also likely take his place up front as he has been chosen to play away to Arsenal and City and is clearly Amorim’s first choice striker in big games.

With all that in mind, here is our predicted XI for tonight’s GMT 20.00 kick off.

According to reports, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has ‘injected’ another £79m into Manchester United and has increased his stake in the Premier League giants.

At the start of 2023, Ratcliffe purchased a 27.7% stake in Man Utd to become a new minority shareholder. As part of this deal, he took control of footballing matters at Old Trafford.

Ratcliffe’s arrival was met with immense positivity, but the INEOS chief has become an increasingly unpopular figure at Old Trafford in recent months.

This comes as he’s hiked ticket prices, sanctioned mass redundancies, reduced Christmas benefits for staff and taken away Sir Alex Ferguson’s global ambassador role.

While Ratcliffe has moved to cut costs, a recent report from The Daily Mail claimed Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim – who made a failed attempt to buy Man Utd before the INEOS supremo completed a deal – is ‘still there’ and could offer the Brit an ‘exit route’.

READ: 6th) Chelsea, 4th) Arsenal: Post-Man Utd moves for Rashford ranked on likelihood

                  The report revealed:

‘Perhaps, however, this is not the end of the story. ‘Sheikh Jassim is still a rich guy,’ explained one advisor.

‘‘He is still a United fan. He is not going to rush off and try another Premier League club.

‘If the opportunity to buy the whole of Manchester United arose again at some point in the future it is hard to see there not being a big level of interest. The plans are still there.’

However, journalist Ben Jacobs – who reported consistently on the Man Utd takeover process – has revealed that Ratcliffe has ‘injected a further $100m’ (around £79m) into the club to strengthen his position.

Jacobs has also commented on whether this deal could increase Ruben Amorim’s budget heading into the January transfer window.

He said: “Sir Jim Ratcliffe has injected a further $100m into Manchester United and now owns 28.94% of the club. This completes a planned $300m investment pledged at the time of purchase. $200m was paid back then out of Ratcliffe’s personal funds.

“Ratcliffe has always said he’ll put his money where is mouth it. Payment will strengthen the club’s finances and make funds available for investment in infrastructure. It’s not a January kitty.

“The recent focus on reducing costs and increasing revenues at #MUFC is aimed at getting finances in order so that the new capital is not swallowed up by operating losses.”

                    united,-city-set-for-transfer-battle-to-land-16yo-wonderkid-who-has-impressed-mourinho-–-report

Ruben Amorim does not seem to be too happy with his options in goal as per recent reports and is planning a revamp of sorts come the end of the season.

As relayed by The Peoples Person, Andre Onana’s recent mistakes have not impressed the Portuguese and he is looking at OGC Nice’s Marcin Bulka as his replacement.

The reserve keeper could also change with Altay Bayindir having grown frustrated with his lack of minutes since his move to Manchester in 2023.

Since he was signed from Fenerbahce, the 26-year-old has made only three appearances with two of them coming this term under former boss Erik ten Hag.

                    Goalkeeping revamp

He is yet to play a single minutes in the Premier League nor has he started a game since the former Sporting Lisbon boss took charge. He is simply too good to remain a backup and wants regular minutes.

Clubs in England and in his homeland are interested and surprisingly, the Red Devils could be about to sign yet another shot-stopper from Turkiye to replace the 26-year-old.

As per journalist Salim Manav, Adana Demirspor’s 16-year-old wonderkid Deniz Dönmezer is on United’s radar having scouted him extensively this season.

He made his first start in the Turkish league at the age of 15 earlier this season against ex-United boss Jose Mourinho, who is currently managing Fenerbahce, and has gone from strength to strength this season.

The Turkiye U16 international has started seven times this season, and apart from the 20-time English league champions, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Tottenham are also interested in his services.

“Deniz Dönmezer, who plays for Adana Demirspor, was followed by scouts from Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham from the Premier League and Juventus from Serie A.

                    16yo sensation being scouted

“Deniz Dönmezer has previously been on the agenda of Hull City and Fenerbahçe,” the journalist wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Juventus, Hull City and Fenerbahçe are also monitoring the player with his current deal valid until 2026.

He has a current market value of €300k (according to Transfermarkt) with Adana likely to demand a lot more should they be forced to part ways with the teenager.

With INEOS now at the helm, it is clear that the club will target only young stars instead of big-name superstars and it will be interesting to see if they can land the Turkish star.

Ratcliffe pumps in another £79m into United to increase his ownership stake – report

                      ratcliffe-pumps-in-another-79m-into-united-to-increase-his-ownership-stake-–-report

Manchester United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has increased the size of his stake in the club, signifying his interest in growing his influence at Old Trafford.

The Daily Mail reported today that Ratcliffe and his INEOS group have injected an additional £79 million into the club to increase their stake to 28.94%.

“A filing listed on the US Securities and Exchange Commission has confirmed the final payment of $100m (£79m) and a raise in shareholding to 28.94 per cent. It has also disclosed that ownership of those shares has transferred from Ratcliffe to Ineos,” the report read.

“Mail Sport understands that the £79m is not earmarked to go into a January war chest for new manager Ruben Amorim. The investment had been earmarked for infrastructure but will be used across the club,” the article continued.

Man United have undergone several significant changes since the arrival of INEOS at the club earlier this year, when Ratcliffe paid £1.2 billion for 27.7% ownership.

This includes the overhauling of the club’s leadership structure, with Omar Berrada taking over as CEO while Jason Wilcox was appointed as the new technical director.

While Dan Ashworth was recruited as sporting director, he was subsequently sacked, spending just five months in the role.

Of course, one of the most drastic changes made by INEOS was the replacement of Erik ten Hag with Ruben Amorim.

While life did not get off to an easy start for United’s new manager, Amorim has managed to pull off some impressive results since arriving at the club, including last weekend’s thrilling 2-1 win away at Manchester City.

But even as United appear to be undergoing a rebuild, Ratcliffe’s reign has not been without its controversies.

Following Ashworth’s departure, it was reported that a culture of fear was brooding over the club staff.

This wasn’t helped by INEOS’ previous cost-cutting decision to lay off 250 staff members.

Still, United do appear to be improving their fortunes on the football pitch during the INEOS era. Fans will no doubt be hopeful that Ratcliffe’s growing influence will help to accelerate the club’s rebuild to once again become an elite team that competes at the highest level.
