Picture: Another major oops moment for United star as he causes social media storm, Amorim will not be pleased

    picture:-another-major-oops-moment-for-united-star-as-he-causes-social-media-storm,-amorim-will-not-be-pleased

Manchester United succumbed to an embarrassing 0-3 defeat against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday, a similar scoreline to what had transpired last season.

Ruben Amorim’s decision to sub off Manuel Ugarte to go all out in an attacking sense in the second half did not work out as it allowed the Cherries to score twice in the second half.

The hosts missed a glut of glorious opportunities with both Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho guilty of spurning gilt-edged chances.

For the second game running, the Argentine was brought on as a second-half substitute and on both occasions he has flattered to deceive.

    Accidental mistake from Garna?

Amorim had decided to drop the 20-year-old for the Manchester derby, something which did not please the academy graduate, and he is yet to regain a starting berth.

Garnacho has already been linked with a shock exit with Atletico Madrid and an unnamed club vying for his signature but so far, Amorim has not taken a concrete call on his future.

He had called out the youngster for his training and off-field habits and it seems the forward has once again caused a storm on social media.

Garnacho’s poor track record with Social media

As revealed by MEN, following United’s disappointing 2-3 loss at the hands of Nottingham Forest, the Argentina international ‘liked’ a social media post criticising his compatriot Lisandro Martinez for being outjumped by Nikola Milenkovic.

📸 – Unfortunately Lisandro Martínez got beat in the air. pic.twitter.com/KdDtkFNvPm

    — TheEuropeanLad (@TheEuropeanLad) December 7, 2024

While it would be easy to term it as an honest mistake, Garnacho’s track record is not that rosy in this regard.

He had ‘accidentally’ liked a post in which Cristiano Ronaldo had criticised his former manager Erik ten Hag but eventually, all was forgiven.

Amorim has already shown how ruthless he can be and it will be interesting to see how the youngster is treated in the coming weeks and whether he can atone for his errors and win back his place in the starting lineup.

Man Utd lucky to have only one clown in worst Premier League XI of weekend

      man-utd-lucky-to-have-only-one-clown-in-worst-premier-league-xi-of-weekend

Man Utd were rotten v Bournemouth but there were enough genuine thwackings elsewhere to keep them down to just one man in the worst XI.

Tottenham are obviously well represented but Ipswich’s lack of attacking quality without Liam Delap was exposed.

      GOALKEEPER: Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace)
Not directly responsible for any of Arsenal’s five goals but if you ship five from six shots on target then you are going to find yourself in the worst team of the weekend. Quite how Danny Ward evaded this fate is a mystery.

      RIGHT-BACK: James Justin (Leicester City)
Was given the E for Error by Opta after a failure in communication with Danny Ward for Wolves’ second goal but was pretty rotten for all of the 52 minutes he stayed on the pitch, completing only 57.7% of his passes.

      CENTRE-BACK: Archie Gray (Tottenham)
He’s 18, he’s playing out of position and he is playing alongside the erratic Radu Dragusin. But Gray was given the E by Opta for one of Liverpool’s six goals, though nobody watching would blame him for the clown show.

      CENTRE-BACK: Noussair Mazraoui (Manchester United)
Made a ridiculous braindead challenge to concede a penalty against Bournemouth, though he might reasonably argue that he had been shifted wide when he committed that atrocity. United are lucky to have only one representative on this list, saved by the thwackings suffered elsewhere.

      LEFT-BACK Keane Lewis-Potter (Brentford)
Robbed by Anthony Elanga for Nottingham Forest’s second goal; it was not his first or last heavy touch of the afternoon as the Bees’ lack of a natural left-back continues to cause issues.

CENTRAL MIDFIELD: Jens Cajuste (Ipswich Town)
Ipswich Town’s best midfielder this season but he called for the ball in the box, got dispossessed by Bruno Guimaraes, and ensured the game was over by half-time.

      CENTRAL MIDFIELD: Yves Bissouma (Tottenham)
A poor game all-round as he was entirely outclassed by Liverpool. In truth, Dragusin and Pedro Porro were more culpable than him or Gray, but Bissouma did nothing to stem the tide.

RIGHT WING: Wes Burns (Ipswich Town)
When this comes from an Ipswich fan…

Wes burns is the worst footballer the premier has seen by the way. Fucking useless

      — Jack (@campoitfc) December 21, 2024

ATTACKING MIDFIELD: Omari Hutchinson (Ipswich Town)
A sobering day for all in blue, with Hutchinson contributing basically nothing in defence or attack before being substituted at half-time to save him for Friday night’s daunting trip to Arsenal.

LEFT WING: Sam Szmodics (Ipswich Town)
See above except he lasted 77 minutes.

      STRIKER: Yoane Wissa (Brentford)
Was probably no poorer than those around him in an oddly toothless Brentford attack – shackled expertly by that Forest defence – but picked up a booking along with his one off-target shot.

“Already in contact”: United trying to pull off blockbuster signing of “force of nature”, will instantly transform team – report

        “already-in-contact”:-united-trying-to-pull-off-blockbuster-signing-of-“force-of-nature”,-will-instantly-transform-team-–-report

Manchester United succumbed to yet another embarrassing 0-3 defeat in the Premier League at the hands of Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday. Last season, the Cherries had won by a similar margin and are turning out to be a bogey team of sorts.

Ruben Amorim decided to hand Joshua Zirkzee a start after his impressive cameo last week against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup but he failed to threaten the visitors’ goal while also being culpable for the opening goal conceded.

Rasmus Hojlund, brought on as a second-half substitute, was not too good either and with Marcus Rashford already announcing his desire to leave his boyhood club, it is clear that the head coach needs help.

Victor Osimhen remains one of the club’s top targets with the Nigerian scoring 12 goals in 15 games for loan outfit Galatasaray across all competitions while registering five assists

        Osimhen release clause

Napoli are desperate to move him on and with the Turkish outfit struggling to find sponsors to fund a permanent move for the sharpshooter, United could take advantage.

The former Serie A winner, termed a “force of nature” for his incredible exploits,  has a release clause of €75 million and the Red Devils are prepared to pay it next summer but they are not the only clubs in the race.

Fichajes have claimed that Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the Nigeria international and a three-way battle is set to ensue once the season concluded.

“Victor Osimhen has become one of the most coveted names in European football following his outstanding performances in Serie A and his recent loan move to Galatasaray.

“The Nigerian striker, who is currently in Turkey, has attracted the interest of three of the continent’s most powerful clubs: Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

“All three teams are willing to pay the €75 million listed in his release clause, which has sparked a real battle for his signature.”

A January exit seems unlikely given Gala’s own ambitions of trying to win the Turkish league, which they are currently comfortably leading.

        In touch with Osimhen

United have held talks with the player’s representatives as per Sacha Tavolieri but convincing Napoli and Galatasaray will be the hard part.

“Already in contact with his representative, Manchester United will have no trouble reaching an agreement on personal terms with the 25-year-old Nigerian.

“The hardest part will be convincing the president of the Neapolitan club, Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is expected to demand up to 75 million euros, with eighteen months to go until the end of his contract.”

INEOS are not exactly flush with cash and a lot of departures will need to occur for the club to afford Osimhen’s mammoth asking price.

Barca boss gives green light to Rashford swap deal that would be “perfect” for both parties – report

          barca-boss-gives-green-light-to-rashford-swap-deal-that-would-be-“perfect”-for-both-parties-–-report

FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has reportedly given the green light to a swap deal between Ansu Fati and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

The English forward has recently found himself out of the team with Ruben Amorim citing his lack of effort in training as the reason he has been omitted from the squad.

Rashford is said to be unhappy with the situation and admitted that he is ready for a new challenge.

FC Barcelona are reported to be one club who are interested in the 27 year old and have reportedly discussed a swap deal involving Frenkie de Jong.

Reports from Spain via football365 report that United might pursue another player for Rashford in a player exchange, however.

“Deco, the club’s sporting director, is already working on a swap deal that could shake up the team: the arrival of Marcus Rashford and the departure of Ansu Fati.”

“The operation has the approval of Hansi Flick, who believes that the Englishman could bring more versatility and effectiveness to the Barça attack.”

With Rashford’s situation at Old Trafford judged as far from “ideal”, an escape to Barcelona can be seen as “perfect” for both parties.

According to the reports, Fati has not convinced Flick so far as he has failed to live up to the high expectations he set when he was younger.

The Spaniard needs a change of scenery and “regain confidence and show his potential.”

“United, who are looking to rejuvenate their squad and bet on players with potential, could be the perfect destination for him.”

Whilst it looks like United would love to get Rashford off the wage book, their interest in Fati is unclear. The club have had historical attraction to the player but severe injuries and poor form have dramatically decreased his reputation in football.

He has only played seven games all season for Barcelona, failing to register a goal or an assist. Moreover, whilst on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion last season, he hardly set the world alight, only scoring four goals in 30 appearances for the Seagulls.

“Poor. poor decision”: Michael Owen rips in to United’s stand-out defender after “stupid” mistake vs Bournemouth

            “poor.-poor-decision”:-michael-owen-rips-in-to-united’s-stand-out-defender-after-“stupid”-mistake-vs-bournemouth

Former Manchester United star Michael Owen has ripped into Noussair Mazraoui after he gave away the penalty for one of Bournemouth’s goals on Sunday afternoon.

United were beaten 3-0 by the Cherries at Old Trafford.

The visitors’ goals were grabbed by Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo. For a second consecutive season, Andoni Iraola’s side have recorded a 3-0 away victory against United.

The result left the Red Devils in 13th position in the Premier League table going into Christmas.

Speaking after the match Owen was far from impressed with Mazraoui, who brought down Justin Kluivert for the penalty that gave Bournemouth a two-goal advantage.

When asked whether Mazraoui’s challenge on Kluivert was a “rash” one, Owen replied on Premier League Productions [via Manchester Evening News], “You’re being kind. A little rash?”

            “A little stupid, more like.”

“What on earth are you [Mazraoui] doing? Two players are waiting for him [Kluivert], he’s not going to score from there and he dives in.”

“Just stay on your feet and usher him away. It’s just a poor, poor decision. The sad thing from Manchester United these days is they go 1-0 down and you never really think they’re going to come back.”

Owen added, “They’re not a good team. Ruben Amorim needs to be watching that game and ensure these players that are not performing do not put on the shirt again.”

“He needs to be that brutal and that ruthless.”

In his post-match press conference, Amorim admitted that things are currently hard as he continues to implement his playing style.

United are back in action on Boxing Day when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium.

Man Utd dressing room ‘so angry’ as Lisandro Martinez insists Red Devils ‘playing so well’

              man-utd-dressing-room-‘so-angry’-as-lisandro-martinez-insists-red-devils-‘playing-so-well’

Lisandro Martinez remarkably believes Man Utd are “playing so well” despite a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth and explained what the dressing room is “so angry” about.

After a dramatic comeback win over Manchester City last time out in the Premier League, Amorim’s side produced a dismal display as goals from Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo secured a comfortable 3-0 win for the visitors.

Amorim has now won four, drawn one and lost four in a brief United tenure in which the task at hand has been made clear.

But Martinez feels as though he and his teammates are “playing so well” and picked out the one thing they need to work “especially” hard on moving forward.

“I always say in this kind of situation we have to show personality and character,” said the Argentine defender after the loss. “We are playing so well and unfortunately, we couldn’t score today. We have to believe. At this club, we have to win every game and we know that.

“We are so angry with this kind of situation. We have to work on set-pieces especially. I believe a lot in this team and staff. if they don’t score their first goal from set-pieces then it is a totally different game. We missed many chances today. We have to score. We know what we have to do and we have to change quickly.

“We know how big it is at this club. The expectation is very high, it’s a process and you can see we are playing so well but we also concede goals and we have to work on that. I know the fans are impatient with us. We are the only ones who can change it.

“It’s football and we have to accept it. We are 100 per cent confident that we will get success in this club. It’s a process, I don’t want to point the finger at one player. We win together, we lose together. It is a big pressure but we love that. I believe a lot in this group.”

Amorim claimed the scoreline did not reflect the game and was frustrated by his side’s failure to take chances and poor defending from set-pieces.

“Everybody saw the game. You cannot speak about fair in football because they scored and we didn’t, but we didn’t give anything [away] until the set-pieces and then we were so near [to scoring] the goal,” he said.

“But I think everybody felt a little anxious, not just the players but also the fans. It’s a very difficult moment for our club, you can feel it every game and especially at home. Two goals, like against Tottenham, very quickly, so you want to respond but you cannot do it because you suffer another goal, and then we suffer until the end of the game.

“I felt we created a lot of situations for our opponent [to deal with] but they managed to score and I think that makes the difference.”

He added: “It’s so much easier to pass on an idea when you’re winning and you’re scoring and you’re not conceding. But it’s also a great privilege to be here, so we have to continue now.

“Nothing bad lasts forever and nothing good lasts forever, so we have to continue again and be very strong in our ideas, especially in the bad moments. We will do it and try to win the next game.”

Amorim pulls no punches about who is responsible for Marcus Rashford’s recent issues

                amorim-pulls-no-punches-about-who-is-responsible-for-marcus-rashford’s-recent-issues

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has raised concerns about the decision-making of Marcus Rashford’s camp after he gave a controversial interview in which he revealed he is ready for a new challenge.

Rashford stunned supporters last week by stating he was prepared to leave United in search of a fresh adventure.

The forward has been in the limelight over the past few days, amidst suggestions that United are keen on selling him as early as January when the winter transfer window commences.

Rashford’s revelation came just two days after Amorim dropped him from the matchday squad that beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad.

He has since been excluded from the two subsequent squads for matches vs. Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup and Sunday’s meeting with Bournemouth.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Rashford is unhappy with United after learning the club sounded out potential buyers without his knowledge.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Amorim questioned the “choices” of people surrounding Rashford, while offering his support to the 27-year-old.

Amorim said, “It is a hard situation. I understand that these players have a lot of people around them, making choices that are not the first idea from the player.”

“I am always here to help Marcus as another player. I have to do what I have to do. They chose to do the interview as it is not just Marcus. I understand that.”

“As a coach I focus on performance and the way you train. The rest, it is better for me and the club to deal with that when the time comes.”

Amorim added, “At the moment I focus on improving Marcus and we need a talented guy like Marcus.”

“I forget the interview now and see what I see on the pitch.”

United return to action on Boxing Day when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium.

Man Utd swap deal given ‘OK’ with Old Trafford seen as ‘perfect destination’ for ex-Brighton star

                  man-utd-swap-deal-given-‘ok’-with-old-trafford-seen-as-‘perfect-destination’-for-ex-brighton-star

Marcus Rashford could be given a way out of Man Utd at Barcelona if the Red Devils can agree a deal that would see Ansu Fati move in the opposite direction, according to reports.

Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim dropped Rashford and his team-mate Alejandro Garnacho from his squad for their 2-1 victory over arch-rivals Man City in the Manchester Derby eight days ago.

That decision came after a week of speculation that the Red Devils are open to ‘top offers’ for the England international with Man Utd looking to cash in to help Amorim improve his squad.

Garnacho returned to Amorim’s squad for their 4-3 defeat to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup in midweek but Rashford was absent again after admitting he was ready for a “new challenge” away from Old Trafford in an interview with journalist Henry Winter.

An even clearer sign was given on Sunday that Rashford’s time at Man Utd is up when Amorim left out the 27-year-old for a third time as the Red Devils lost 3-0 to Bournemouth.

And now reports in Spain claim that Barcelona boss Hansi Flick ‘gives the OK’ for the Catalan giants to use Ansu Fati in a swap deal to sign Rashford from Man Utd.

Barcelona sporting director Deco is ‘working on a swap deal that could shake up the team’ with Flick believing that ‘the Englishman could bring more versatility and effectiveness to the Barca attack’.

Fati, who was on loan at Brighton last season, ‘has not convinced’ Barcelona boss Flick and ‘the irregularity in his performance have put his future in doubt’.

For Barcelona ‘the exchange operation would be ideal to reinforce a key position’ with Rashford possessing the ‘ability to adapt to various positions in attack is one of the reasons why Flick believes he would fit perfectly into his system’.

Man Utd ‘could be the perfect destination’ for Fati to ‘to regain confidence and show his potential’ but ‘negotiations will not be easy’ for Barcelona.

The La Liga side ‘see it as feasible to close a deal before the end of the winter transfer window’ and some at Barcelona are ‘already dreaming of seeing’ Rashford play at the Camp Nou.

Former Premier League winger Shaun Wright-Phillips insists that Rashford and Garnacho are the two biggest casualties of Amorim’s formation change.

When asked the three players Man Utd should build around, Wright-Phillips said: “Obviously, Bruno. I would say Amad as well because I quite like him, his work rate. The way he wants to play, those two suit those midfield areas. I’m not sure if he knows the rest of his midfield.

“I’d also say Mazraoui. He seems to play a lot, and he seems to play the way Amorim wants to play.

“Other than that, I still think he’s still trying to find out who he likes and who he doesn’t like.

“I think, not because of talent, but Rashford and Garnacho have got a problem because they’re not used to playing that 10 position, both of them are used to being very wide.

“He doesn’t play wide wingers; he plays with wingbacks, and I don’t think either of those two could be a wingback.

“I think they’re going to find it hard to get into Amorim’s team in terms of attacking positions because I don’t think he knows his front two or three yet.

“Amorim has tried Zirkzee and Rasmus, and both are completely different sort of strikers. He messes around with the two number 10s, but I don’t think it is going to work for all of United’s attacking players unless he teaches them how to play that role. I can see Amorim bringing in a few of his own players in the summer or even in January if he can get them.”

United give unsatisfactory response to controversial issue that sparked fan anger

                    united-give-unsatisfactory-response-to-controversial-issue-that-sparked-fan-anger

Manchester United have released six “key takeaways” from the recently held Fans’ Forum.

The meeting was reconvened for the second time this season on Monday 16 December.

The Fans’ Forum is an excellent initiative that amplifies the voices of supporters, providing a crucial platform for them to express their opinions, share concerns, and engage directly with United’s executives.

Initially dismissed as a token gesture by the club, its perception has evolved significantly over time.

Earlier today, United confirmed that they sat down with fan representatives to deliberate on operational matters that affect supporters on matchday.

These issues that were discussed include ticketing policing and concessions, season-ticket renewals, redevelopment of Old Trafford, charity contributions and fan engagement initiatives.

Ticket pricing and concessions in particular have been a thorny issue in recent times although United have seemingly not budged on this.

Here are the six key takeaways from the Fan Forum:

                    1. Ticket concessions remain in place for cup fixtures and season tickets forwarded to United Members. Concessions will only be removed from unsold or returned tickets for confirmed non-balloted games (three per cent) in addition to seats cancelled by Season-Ticket holders prior to games.
                    2. A dedicated European away collections sub-group will be formed to review ticket distribution and credit options for 2025/26.
                    3. Season-Ticket renewal communications, including deadlines and pricing, will be issued following consultation with fan bodies in the new year.
                    4. Stadium findings from the mass fan survey, focus groups and town halls have been submitted to the Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force to inform the options report to the board and owners. Fans will have further opportunities to input into the project as it progresses.
                    5. United supporters have raised over £310,000 already this season for Manchester United Foundation via Season-Ticket donations, and over £1.5 million since the scheme began; thank you for helping to support young people from disadvantaged areas across Greater Manchester.
                    6. We’ve introduced new fan activations at Leigh Sports Village for Women’s Super League home weekend games; Junior fans can have a pre-match kickabout on a 3G pitch, try their luck against Fred the Red in a half-time penalty shootout, and apply for post-match player meet and greets.

United are currently facing a challenging period, with three losses in their last four Premier League matches. The Red Devils have been beaten by Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth in that period, having beaten Manchester City at the Etihad last weekend.

Ruben Amorim’s men currently lie in 13th position in the Premier League standings, having gained just 22 points from a possible 51.

United are nine points adrift of Nottingham Forest, who are fourth.

The 20-time English champions return to action on Boxing Day when they make their way to Molineux Stadium to take on a resurgent Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manchester United’s struggles both on and off the pitch continue following a report that the club has been hit with a mice infestation at Old Trafford.

Mike Keegan of The Daily Mail reports that mice droppings were discovered by hygiene inspectors during a recent visit to the club’s grounds.

This led to United’s hygiene rating being slashed to just two stars, significantly short of the maximum five that other Premier League clubs enjoy.

It’s understood that the hygiene inspectors found evidence of mice presence in a ground level corporate suites and in a kiosk that sells food to fans on a concourse.

United have been ordered to make improvements as soon as possible.

Keegan adds that the mice infestation problem is a result of Old Trafford being located in between a canal and a railway line.

A club spokesperson said, “Manchester United implements a robust pest-control system throughout Old Trafford.”

“Multiple weekly checks are made in all catering areas and stringent measures are taken to ensure levels of hygiene and cleanliness are high wherever food is stored, prepared and served.”

“If incidences of this nature do occur at the stadium, immediate and appropriate action is taken.”

A spokesperson for Trafford Council remarked, “Our environmental health officers gave a food hygiene rating of two following a routine visit.”

“We are now working closely with Manchester United to ensure it complies with the rating and carries out the necessary improvements.”

Three weeks ago, a dead rat was spotted under a fan’s seat at Old Trafford. This came after claims that a United-themed cafe was forced to close down due to a rat infestation.

A supporter, who attended the Europa League clash against Bodo/Glimt, posted an image of a dead rodent underneath his seat.

United’s mice infestation is just the latest setback to hit the stadium. After the Red Devils’ defeat against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, Ruben Amorim’s press conference was interrupted by a leaking ceiling.

The water dripping from the roof necessitated that at least one journalist move from their seat.
