Disgusting conditions at Old Trafford get even worse as club suffers unhygienic infestation – report

Manchester United’s struggles both on and off the pitch continue following a report that the club has been hit with a mice infestation at Old Trafford.

Mike Keegan of The Daily Mail reports that mice droppings were discovered by hygiene inspectors during a recent visit to the club’s grounds.

This led to United’s hygiene rating being slashed to just two stars, significantly short of the maximum five that other Premier League clubs enjoy.

It’s understood that the hygiene inspectors found evidence of mice presence in a ground level corporate suites and in a kiosk that sells food to fans on a concourse.

United have been ordered to make improvements as soon as possible.

Keegan adds that the mice infestation problem is a result of Old Trafford being located in between a canal and a railway line.

A club spokesperson said, “Manchester United implements a robust pest-control system throughout Old Trafford.”

“Multiple weekly checks are made in all catering areas and stringent measures are taken to ensure levels of hygiene and cleanliness are high wherever food is stored, prepared and served.”

“If incidences of this nature do occur at the stadium, immediate and appropriate action is taken.”

A spokesperson for Trafford Council remarked, “Our environmental health officers gave a food hygiene rating of two following a routine visit.”

“We are now working closely with Manchester United to ensure it complies with the rating and carries out the necessary improvements.”

Three weeks ago, a dead rat was spotted under a fan’s seat at Old Trafford. This came after claims that a United-themed cafe was forced to close down due to a rat infestation.

A supporter, who attended the Europa League clash against Bodo/Glimt, posted an image of a dead rodent underneath his seat.

United’s mice infestation is just the latest setback to hit the stadium. After the Red Devils’ defeat against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, Ruben Amorim’s press conference was interrupted by a leaking ceiling.

The water dripping from the roof necessitated that at least one journalist move from their seat.
