Conversations are ongoing:” Fabrizio Romano provides crucial update on Kobbie Mainoo’s future with Chelsea and Real Madrid circling

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has found himself in the thick of a heated transfer battle as Ruben Amorim looks to keep the rising star at Old Trafford.

Earlier this month, The Peoples Person relayed that Chelsea have emerged as a favourite to sign Mainoo should he choose to leave Man United.

This speculation came amid the England international’s contract stalemate with United. It was reported that Mainoo is seeking a £200,000-a-week pay rate, which may prove challenging for the club to meet.

To add fuel to the fire, Bayern Munich allegedly joined the race to sign Mainoo, putting more pressure on United to close a deal swiftly.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed where Mainoo stands with regards to his future, revealing what his fate may be as United look to keep him at the club.

“We’ve had many stories in recent days about the future of Kobbie Mainoo at Manchester United. He remains an important player for the club, which Ruben Amorim has confirmed publicly in his recent press conference,” Romano commented in his Daily Briefing.

“So, why this situation with Mainoo’s contract still not being signed? Already one year ago, January-February 2024, Man United tried to extend Mainoo’s contract, but then the whole structure changed. There have been plenty of changes internally at Manchester United, which means it’s different people negotiating the contract. This can be complicated when there are still important details to clarify and finalise,” Romano explained.

“There have been plenty of changes internally at Manchester United, which means it’s different people negotiating the contract. This can be complicated when there are still important details to clarify and finalise.”

“Still, United are relaxed about the situation. They are negotiating and they believe everything is under control, even if there are points to clarify in this new conversation.”

Finally, Romano confirmed the midfielder’s frame of mind: “Overall, Mainoo is happy at Manchester United and not desperate to leave at all, so conversations are ongoing to resolve his future at Old Trafford.”

Having broken into the first team last season under Erik ten Hag, Mainoo has become a staple member of United’s starting 11, with current manager Amorim placing a lot of importance on him.

Most recently, he played a pivotal role in leading United to an impressive penalty shootout win away at Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Still, his consistency over the course of the season is indisputable. Mainoo has completed 87% of his passes in the Premier League and 69% of long balls while averaging 2.4 tackles and 4.4 ball recoveries per game, proving his willingness to track back and support his defence. (Sofascore)

United will surely be hoping to keep him at the club as Amorim looks to build a promising squad that will secure United’s success over the long-term future.

Man Utd transfer blow as ‘failed medical’ sees ‘deal collapse’ as player ‘not ready for action’

Man Utd could face a delay in AC Milan’s interest in Marcus Rashford after Noah Okafor failed a medical at RB Leipzig, according to reports.

Rashford made it clear last month that he is ready for a “new challenge” away from Old Trafford after failing to hit good form over the last 18 months.

The England international was left out of the squad for the Manchester Derby by Ruben Amorim before Rashford announced in an interview with journalist Henry Winter that he is likely to leave Man Utd.

Despite coming back into the squad for the 2-0 loss to Newcastle on December 30, Rashford has not played a single minute since the Red Devils beat Viktoria Plzen on December 12.

A report four days ago insisted that Milan were pushing for Okafor to join Bundesliga side Leipzig in January ‘to allow them to go all in for Rashford’.

Transfer Fabrizio Romano wrote on X over the weekend:  ‘EXCL: RB Leipzig and AC Milan have agreed on loan deal for Noah Okafor plus buy option clause worth over €25m.

‘Loan with salary covered by Leipzig, buy option clause not mandatory — around €25/28m based on several factors. Travel and medical scheduled tomorrow.’

But now Sky Germany reporter Philipp Hinze has revealed that RB Leipzig have ‘cancelled the transfer’ after the results of his medical showed that Okafor is “not ready for action”.

Hinze wrote on X: ‘Exclusive: RB Leipzig have stopped the Okafor transfer! The results of the medical check showed that Okafor is not an immediate help. The Swiss player is not ready for action. As a result, Leipzig have cancelled the transfer. Okafor will not move to Leipzig! Deal collapsed.’

The news comes a day after Sky Sports reported that AC Milan are ‘expected to formally approach’ Man Utd ‘over the signing’ of Rashford.

      Sky Sports added:

‘Milan adviser – and Rashford’s former team-mate – Zlatan Ibrahimovic has spoken publicly about wanting to speak to Rashford about a move.

‘Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the player but it is thought a move could prove too problematic for them due to the wages. However, United have maintained a positive relationship with Dortmund having loaned Jadon Sancho to them last season.

‘Sancho’s move worked for all parties – he performed well for Dortmund and it is understood United recovered all of his wages during his spell there.

‘Rashford’s camp have spoken to a number of European clubs to explore the conditions of a deal. As it stands, it is believed United’s preference remains a straight loan, if they are to allow him to leave.’

Which major future transfers have been arranged for summer 2025 and 2026? Chelsea are busy

        which-major-future-transfers-have-been-arranged-for-summer-2025-and-2026?-chelsea-are-busy
Which major future transfers have been arranged for summer 2025 and 2026? Chelsea are busy

Chelsea have two teenage South American forwards lined up, Tottenham will welcome a new giant centre-half soon and Dortmund have a summer 2026 deal sorted.

The 2025 January transfer window is fun and all, but teams are using the opportunity to pre-arrange transfers years in advance now to steal a march on their rivals.

Chelsea are chief among them but plenty of other sides are indulging in the practice. These are the upcoming transfers sorted for future windows involving clubs in the top six European leagues.

        Summer 2025

Estevao Willian (Palmeiras to Chelsea, £29m rising to £51m)
There are more obviously silly numbers involved – 19 goals ad 12 assists in 50 games this past season is daft – but a 17-year-old signing what is expected to be at the very least a seven-year contract to join a club littered with equally young and similarly gifted forwards should not be overlooked. Mauricio Pochettino played an important role in Estevao’s capture and it will be interesting to see whether Enzo Maresca can last long enough to at least oversee his first steps at Stamford Bridge.

Nicolas Gonzalez (Fiorentina to Juventus, £27.7m)
Once the subject of interest from Brighton and Spurs as well as a club-record Brentford bid, Gonzalez’s big move was a little different when it finally arrived. A season-long loan at Juventus contains what many have called an obligation to buy but is actually an option the club themselves have described as ‘subject to the achievement of certain sporting objective during the season 2024/2025’. Twelve games, seven starts and three goals for a team in Champions League qualification contention should really be enough.

Gabriel Carvalho (Internacional to Al-Qadsiah, £18.5m)
There is absolutely nothing more Modern Football than a Saudi club pre-signing a South American forward and Premier League target in a move which will go through when he turns 18 in the summer.

Kendry Paez (Independiente del Valle to Chelsea, £17.2m)
There is substantially less Chelsea hype surrounding Paez but his future move further underlines their commitment to pursuing the best young players in world football, with South America the current hotbed.

Manu Kone (Gladbach to Roma, £15.1m)
Remember when he was supposed to be one of the answers to Liverpool’s midfield problems? Kone has instead ended up in another of those temporary loans with an obligation to buy dependent upon certain clauses, which are almost certain to be activated as he is a regular Roma starter.

Michele Di Gregorio (Monza to Juventus, £12m)
A gold star to the accountancy team at Juventus, who might well have forgotten by now that they set a ticking timebomb to go off next summer with a series of delicate loans and obligations and such.

Luka Vuskovic (Hajduk Split to Tottenham, £12m)
Seven months after making his senior debut as the youngest player to feature in the Croatian top flight, Vuskovic was snapped up by a Tottenham side declaring dibs almost two years in advance. The 6ft 4ins 17-year-old is spending his final season before moving to north London permanently on loan in a Belgian relegation battle as Westerlo’s joint top scorer.

Ismail Jakobs (Monaco to Galatasaray, £6.7m)
Galatasaray themselves have called it a ‘mandatory purchase option’ and the left-back’s minor role in another unstoppable title charges does nothing to change that.

        Summer 2026

Justin Lerma (Independiente del Valle to Borussia Dortmund, £8.4m)
The Independiente factory continues to churn out potential gems for their European counterparts to poach and polish and few teams are bettered equipped in that regard than Dortmund, who bagsied midfielder Lerma ready for after his 18th birthday when his career consisted of just 65 first-team minutes.

“Don’t see any movement”: January exit ruled out for major United star – Fabrizio Romano

Manchester United will reportedly not sell Luke Shaw in the January transfer window.

The England international has had a terrible couple of seasons with injury as he has missed copious amount of game time.

In the last campaign, he only played 15 matches in total and this season he has managed just 68 minutes of Premier League action.

At 29 years old, it is highly unlikely that his medical issues will ever change and it is clear that the club is no longer betting on him in the long term.

Shaw had been linked to a move to SSC Napoli in January and United are clearly in the market for a new left wing back either now or in the summer, with the likes of Nuno Mendes and Milos Kerkez often discussed as potential replacements.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano however, Shaw’s future will not be settled until the summer at least.

“I don’t see any movement for Luke Shaw in January, it’s quiet at the momen,” the transfer guru said.

“In the summer there could be changes, but now it’s quiet. In any case, Man United are looking for a LWB because Shaw and Tyrell Malacia had many problems so that position could be covered.”

The Englishman has two years left on his deal and wages of €200,000 a week.

These figures could certainly prove prohibitive to their desire to sell the injury-ridden star.

United could turn to another source of revenue to fund their left back purchase however, as Tyrell Malacia has been reported to be of interest to Italian side Como 1907.

Romano has also claimed that it is possible the Dutchman may leave United this month, which could free up some valuable funds to make a much-needed signing for the left wing back position.

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘accepts offer’ with ex-Man Utd star to ‘receive £168m’ after ‘requesting reunion’

According to reports, former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has ‘accepted an offer’ to renew his contract with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo left Man Utd at the end of 2022 as his contract was terminated by mutual agreement after he butted heads with head coach Erik ten Hag.

The 39-year-old scored 18 goals in 30 Premier League games in the 2021/22 season for Man Utd, but he slipped in the pecking order following the appointment of Ten Hag, who preferred to select younger alternatives.

This did not sit well with Ronaldo, who spat his dummy out and burnt bridges en route to leaving the Premier League giants.

Ronaldo was also unhappy after United failed to qualify for the Champions League, but he snubbed interest from Europe to join Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo has 75 goals and 18 assists in his 84 appearances for Al-Nassr, who are currently third in the Saudi Pro League.

The former Man Utd star has been linked with an exit in recent weeks as his current contract is due to expire at the end of this season.

Earlier this month, a report claimed Ronaldo has ‘offered himself’ to Chelsea as he eyes a return to Europe, while he’s reportedly ‘requested a reunion’ with Man Utd star Casemiro to remain at Al-Nassr beyond this summer.

However, a report in the Middle East claims Ronaldo has ‘accepted an offer’ to renew his contract until 2026 as he’s set to ‘receive £168m’ (around 200 million euros).

Former United star set to sign sensational “mega deal” to extend career to 2026 – report

Former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo is set to sign a new deal at Al Nassr worth €3.8 million a week.

Ronaldo spectacularly re-joined United in 2021 and despite a successful first season, where he scored 24 goals, it fell to pieces in his second.

The Portuguese never really saw eye to eye with Erik ten Hag and in November 2022, he gave a now infamous interview with Piers Morgan.

He criticised the club, the owners and incredibly his own manager despite still being a paid member of the squad.

As a result, both United and Ronaldo agreed it was best to part ways and the Portugal legend signed a lucrative deal with Saudi Arabian club, Al Nassr.

According to reports from Saudi media Al Khabar (via AS), “the Portuguese, who will turn 40 in February, will extend his contract with the Saudi club for one season.”

“Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly accepted Al Nassr’s offer and is close to signing a multi-million euro renewal with the Saudi club.”

The deal is believed to be worth €200 million and will extend until June 2026.

“Cristiano was already the highest-paid footballer in Saudi Arabia, with a salary of €200 million, plus another €60 million in image rights. With this renewal. Cristiano Ronaldo will remain the highest-paid footballer in the world.”

He will reportedly earn an eye-watering €3.8 million a week and more than half a million euros a day.

The 39 year old has been in outstanding goalscoring form for Al Nassr since his arrival, scoring 75 goals in 84 matches.

With 917 career goals to his name, the extension for one more season and a half could see him get tantalisingly close to his objective of 1000 strikes.

In addition, it should also be noted that his deal will finish just in time for the World Cup in 2026, which will surely be his final international tournament.

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeping target Lucas Chevalier.

Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir’s form has been under the microscope for some time at United and it has been reported that the Red Devils are looking for an upgrade in their goalkeeping department.

Bayindir was in sensational form versus Arsenal in the Cup on Sunday, making two penalty stops and keeping Ruben Amorim’s side in the game, as they defended valiantly with ten men.

Nonetheless, one swallow doesn’t make a summer and United are unlikely to have abandoned their pursuit of a new keeper on the basis of one performance.

The Red Devils have been linked to keepers such as Senne Lammens, Zion Suzuki, Illan Meslier and Mads Hermansen as potential recruits in this department.

Another keeper they have shown interest in before is LOSC Lille’s young keeper Chevalier.

Sports Zone report that Paris Saint-Germain have now also shown major interest in the Frenchman.

“Paris Saint-Germain wants to make a move for Lucas Chevalier next summer,” the outlet claims.

Chevalier has been described as someone who “embodies the modern keeper” as he is a great shot stopper but also excels with his feet.

“An unexpected turn”: Barcelona defender’s injury could scupper Rashford’s dream move to Spain – report

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford’s move to FC Barcelona could have been ruined by an injury to FC Barcelona’s Íñigo Martínez in the Spanish Super Cup.

The Basque defender went down in the first half of the match which saw the Catalans triumph 5-2 against old rivals Real Madrid.

It had been reported that Barcelona were hoping a deal to sell Ronald Araujo to Juventus would generate the funds and space in the squad needed to sign Rashford from United.

The two clubs were slated to meet in the near future to try and thrash out a deal for the Uruguayan centre back but the medical issue for Martinez, which will see him out of action for at least eight matches, has put a spanner in the works.

Spanish newspaper AS report “the injury to Íñigo Martínez, who could miss the next eight games, has put the Uruguayan centre-back’s (Araujo) transfer to Juventus on hold.”

It “should be remembered that Araújo has an offer from Juventus on the table to leave this January, but the club has always been very reluctant to accept a proposal that is not higher than €50 million.”

“The Turin club had the support of Araújo himself, who was willing to leave the Catalan club, as he did not agree with the amounts offered to him for a renewal of his current deal at Barcelona.”

Nonetheless, the unexpected injury to Martinez has seen Barca left short in defence and “Ronald Araújo’s future could take an unexpected turn in the next few hours.”

Without the lucrative sale of Araujo, it is difficult to see how Barcelona can sensibly generate the funds or comply with the 1:1 rule in Spanish football which would need to see a player leave before they brought Rashford in.

Nonetheless, the United forward has been linked to a move to Serie A with AC Milan seen as the big favourites in Italy but with Juventus now unable to spend the money on Araujo, their priorities could well change again.

The Old Lady have been linked with a move to Rashford in the last few months and they could conceivably turn their attention to him once more.

United will be hoping to conclude a deal soon for Rashford as it seems clear he is no longer part of Ruben Amorim’s plans moving forward and the club will surely want to make their own moves with less than three weeks of the window remaining.

Man Utd transfer: Rashford boost hampers Walker as Euro giants decide ‘preference’ with ‘formal approach’ incoming

According to reports, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been handed a transfer boost amid interest from Serie A giants AC Milan.

Rashford has attracted interest from AC Milan after he announced that he’s “ready” for a new challenge away from Man Utd. He could soon join our list of the 20 biggest January transfers.

The Red Devils star has been blasted for his poor performances over the past 18 months as he’s massively declined since scoring 30 goals during the 2022/23 campaign.

It was hoped that the appointment of Ruben Amorim would boost Rashford, but his struggles have continued and it is the right time for him to move elsewhere.

AC Milan are among the leading contenders to sign Rashford, but they are also interested in Manchester City defender Kyle Walker, who is also expected to leave the Premier League this month.

READ: Ruben Amorim repeats Sir Alex ploy as Marcus Rashford gets ‘message’

Serie A rules permit AC Milan from signing the two England internationals this month, but a report from Sky in Italy claims their ‘preference’ is Rashford over Walker.

‘Rashford is Milan’s priority over Kyle Walker in the January transfer window, according to Sky in Italy.

Pep Guardiola confirmed over the weekend that Walker and his representatives are “exploring” his options after informing outgoing sporting director Txiki Begiristain that he wants to move abroad.

‘According to Sky in Italy, AC Milan sounded out the defender some time ago in case Fikayo Tomori left the club, but his transfer was blocked by the arrival of new manager Sergio Conceicao

‘It remains to be seen whether this time could be different and whether the Rossoneri will try to land his signature with Bayern Munich having also been interested in the past.’

Sky Sports are also reporting that the Serie A giants are ‘expected to make a formal approach’ to sign Rashford.

‘AC Milan are expected to formally approach Manchester United over the signing of forward Marcus Rashford.

As it stands, it is believed United’s preference remains a straight loan, if they are to allow him to leave.

‘While United accept they will have to pay a substantial portion of Rashford’s wages, they will look into incentivising the structure to ensure the deal works for them.’

Treble-winning coach “endorses” United superstar’s signing as CL giants issued transfer deadline – report

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford’s future continues to dominate headlines with plenty of Europe’s elites chasing his signature.

The Mancunian, after being dropped from the Manchester derby matchday squad, dropped a bombshell when he claimed he was ready to try a new adventure away from Old Trafford.

The interview did not please his head coach nor the dressing room with the 27-year-old missing the subsequent seven games. INEOS have backed the head coach‘s stance and are now open to his departure.

However, his price tag and massive wages have meant not too many permanent offers have come United’s way with the Englishman already rejecting the riches of the Saudi Pro League.

Rashford’s future up in the air

Currently, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are among a trio of clubs eyeing an initial loan deal with the 27-year-old preferring a move to Spain.

And as per Spanish publication SPORT, Barca manager Hansi Flick is a huge admirer of the England international and had even tried to sign him when he was at Bayern Munich.

The German Treble-winning coach values his versatility, believing he can add value both on the left and up front as an alternative for Robert Lewandowski with the games set to come thick and fast.

However, not everyone at the club is convinced as the United No 10 is prone to bouts of inconsistency while off-field problems have also often plagued his career.

Flick is an admirer of Rashford

“The Catalan club is closely following his (Rashford’s) situation and Hansi Flick has already endorsed the signing of the striker.

“Marcus Rashford is liked by the German coach. In fact, he already tried to get his services when he was coaching Bayern Munich. Flick values his versatility very positively, since he can play both on the left wing and as a centre forward.

“In this way, he would gain a guaranteed replacement to rotate Lewandowski for the second half of the season, in which the Culers will have a tight schedule full of high-demand matches.

“The club’s sporting department is not unanimous regarding the Manchester United player, as there is some debate as to whether he is the type of striker the team needs.

Not everyone is convinced, 15th Jan deadline set

“In addition, Rashford’s inconsistency throughout his career and some problems in his personal life also make the Catalan club doubt, as they are looking for a player who can perform immediately.”

It must be remembered that the Spanish giants cannot afford Rashford’s £300,000 per week wages (via capology) and the player is likely to reduce his wage demands while United also have to contribute a major portion.

Barca want to acquire the England international on an initial loan deal and it remains to be seen whether there is an option to buy in the summer.

The report further outlined that Rashford has asked Barca to respond within 15th January regarding proceeding with the deal or else, he might look at AC Milan and other suitors.

“In any case, Barça are only considering signing the English player on loan until the end of the season. The player is prioritising Barcelona, but has set the 15th of January as the deadline for the Catalan club to give a definitive answer regarding his signing.”
