Rashford’s Serie A escape route could get blocked after winger’s failed medical – report

Manchester United continue to face stumbling blocks in their attempts to offload Marcus Rashford, as per reports.

Ruben Amorim refused to provide much detail when asked about Rashford’s absence from his matchday squad to face Arsenal in the FA Cup.

It’s been more than a month since the Englishman last featured for the Red Devils and multiple reports have suggested United are open to listening to offers for him amid concerns over his off-field antics.

The 27-year-old has attracted interest from a number of clubs but his wages, thought to be north of £300k-a-week, have proven to be a huge obstacle for his suitors.

AC Milan, who are advised by former United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, have shown the most determination to sign Rashford so far.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Milan were working to offload Noah Okafor to create space for the England international.

RB Leipzig showed interest in signing Okafor this month but now it has emerged that the move has collapsed as the Milan winger failed to prove his fitness during his medical tests.

This development could potentially scupper the Rossoneri’s transfer plans, including their hopes of landing Rashford.

Similarly, Barcelona’s pursuit of Rashford has also become trickier after Iñigo Martínez suffered an injury in the Spanish Super Cup.

This may force the Catalan giants to keep Ronald Araujo at Camp Nou.

Juventus are allegedly keen on signing the Uruguayan and his sale could potentially help Barca sign Rashford as a winter sale would help the club comply with the 1:1 rule in Spanish football.

Alejandro Garnacho is another United player to have attracted interest from elsewhere. It is believed Napoli are pushing to sign the Argentine, having already made a bid to secure his services.

Ferdinand tips ‘unhappy’ Man Utd star to leave in January after Amorim decision vs Arsenal

Ferdinand tips ‘unhappy’ Man Utd star to leave in January after Amorim decision vs Arsenal

Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand thinks Casemiro will leave before the end of the January transfer window after their win over Arsenal on Sunday.

The Brazilian has flopped since joining the Red Devils from Real Madrid in a £70m deal in the summer of 2022 when Erik ten Hag was manager.

Casemiro has started four times in his six appearances under new head coach Ruben Amorim but has not played a minute in their last two matches after his poor display against Newcastle.

21-year-old Toby Collyer was preferred to Casemiro as Man Utd boss Amorim substituted Kobbie Mainoo ahead of extra time in the Red Devils’ penalty shootout win over Arsenal in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.

Casemiro has been linked with moves away from Old Trafford in this transfer window and now Man Utd legend Ferdinand doubts the Brazilian will be happy and reckons he will leave before the deadline for deals.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand said of Casemiro’s situation at Man Utd: “Is the player happy to be on the bench?

“I don’t think Casemiro will be happy. At any point in his career he’s never been on the bench.

“So if he’s on the bench now, if an offer came in, he’d listen to it, but also the club, you can see now they are bringing on Toby Collyer.

“If they get an offer they require, that they want, I don’t think it will be something that will be difficult to happen.

“If he wants to go and play football, who are we to stand in his way at this stage of his career.”

Ferdinand added: “Toby Collyer was excellent when he came on. The energy levels were huge, through the roof. Testament to him.”

Harry Maguire, who was stripped of the captaincy during Ten Hag’s time at Man Utd, is back in favour under Amorim and delivered another good display in a back three.

On Maguire, Ferdinand continued on his YouTube channel: “Harry Maguire again, he was outstanding in the centre of that back three. He was dominating in individual duels, he looked composed. What he isn’t doing, it seems now, he’s not questioning himself.

“He’s got a manager who gives him a bit of belief, a bit of confidence, and what that does for a player, any player, some good communication behind the scenes, does so much.”

“Supporters will burn the stand down”: United insider provides Mainoo update amid Chelsea’s growing interest

“Supporters will burn the stand down”: United insider provides Mainoo update amid Chelsea’s growing interest

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown seems convinced that Kobbie Mainoo will remain at Old Trafford this January despite a heavy barrage of transfer rumours.

Given the stagnation in contract talks between Mainoo and Man United due to the player’s wage demands, rumours have been swelling about whether or not the England international would be willing to remain at the club in the foreseeable future.

Chelsea were named as an interested party, as were Bayern Munich.

In fact, The Peoples Person relayed earlier today that Chelsea would be willing to pay as much as £70 million in order to sign Mainoo.

Still, even with the reported interest in Mainoo, Brown is of the opinion that none of it makes a difference when it comes to United’s stance on the matter.

“If they sell Kobbie Mainoo, the supporters will burn the stand down,” Brown told Football Insider. “I don’t think there’s a cat in hell’s chance of that happening any time soon.”

“Definitely not if the ethos of Manchester United means anything because they’ve always had an academy player in the team, and that’s something to be proud of.”

“Mainoo came through at a time when they were desperate, established himself as a key player, and he’s gone on to earn a place in the England squad.”

The former chief scout then pointed out how crucial Mainoo is to the team: “He’s still a very important part of Amroim’s team and will continue to be in the future. If the club are even going to think of selling people like that, then you’re entitled to question what direction the club is heading in.”

“As far as I’m aware, there are a host of players the club would open to selling before they let Mainoo go,” Brown concluded. “So the short answer is no, I wouldn’t expect United to sell Kobbie Mainoo under any circumstances.”

While the mentality of the club may certainly be brought into question should Mainoo be sold, it appears as if Brown’s intuition may be correct, meaning that a transfer is not on the cards.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed earlier in the day that Mainoo is expected to sign a new contract.

No matter the size of the offer that potentially comes in for Mainoo, there are few circumstances under which it would make sense for United to part ways with the 19 year old.

After all, his undisputed talent and youth make him a valuable asset that can benefit the club over the long-term future, helping manager Ruben Amorim to build his ideal squad.

Serie A giants hold secret meeting with young superstar’s camp but United have issued “chilling” response – report

Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Arsenal came under difficult circumstances with the team having to play for over an hour with 10 men. They had to dig deep to take the game to penalties and eventually triumphed 5-3.

Apart from the solid display from the backline, two unlikely heroes in the form of Altay Bayindir and Alejandro Garnacho emerged, and Ruben Amorim must have been pleased with the Argentine’s display.

The FA Youth Cup winner was dropped from the Manchester derby matchday squad and questions were raised about his application in training and off-field activities.

The head coach was reportedly unimpressed with his lack of effort out of possession, and demanded more hard work and consistency from the 20-year-old.

          Garnacho’s struggles under Amorim

There were murmurs that Garnacho was not a natural fit in the new coach’s 3-4-3 system and as a result, the winger was linked with a sensational exit with INEOS reportedly on the hunt for pure profit.

His former club Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were named as suitors but the most serious interest was coming from Napoli, who were looking at the academy graduate as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli met with Garnacho’s camp and spoke to the Red Devils and were met with a firm response, with the English club valuing their young superstar at €80 million, something the Serie A outfit wound find hard to pay.

“Napoli has already sounded out Manchester United for Alejandro Garnacho, 20 years old, one of the best talents of his generation.

          Napoli cannot afford Garnacho

“The answer was chilling: 80m million is needed. A big discount is needed, which is why Manna then landed in Barcelona last night, to speak with the player’s agents and understand the feasibility of the deal.”

The report further claimed that Conte’s side are also looking at Karim Adeyemi of Borussia Dortmund as well as a loan move for Timo Werner.

There have been murmurs of interest in Marcus Rashford as well but one thing is certain, most teams would find it hard to acquire Garnacho mid-season.

The Argentina international’s two most recent displays have once again reminded critics of his talent with the versatile forward picking up two assists in as many games.

Against Arsenal, he did not shy away from the dirty side of the game and if he keeps it up, United will most likely refrain from selling him, just what the fans want.

Man Utd issue ‘chilling’ response to Napoli’s first offer for star as Red Devils reveal what ‘is needed’

Man Utd have issued a ‘chilling’ response to Napoli’s first offer for Alejandro Garnacho as the Serie A side look to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, according to reports.

The Red Devils have not had a good first half of the Premier League season with Ruben Amorim’s side currently 13th in the Premier League table after 20 matches.

However, Man Utd have put in back-to-back impressive performances against Liverpool in the Premier League and Arsenal in the FA Cup.

And Man Utd are hoping to help reshape Amorim’s squad so that he can get the best from his formation, philosophy and playing style.

In order to do that, Man Utd may have to sell players with Marcus Rashford already putting his hand up with the England international insisting he’s ready for a “new challenge”.

There has also been interest in Argentina international Garnacho with Napoli looking to replace Paris Saint-Germain-bound Kvaratskhelia.

There were rumours on Monday that Napoli had made their first offer for Garnacho with the bid coming in at around €45m (£38m).

However, Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claim that, with Kvaratskhelia ‘virtually a PSG player’, Napoli have prepared a ‘hastily organized blitz’ on targets to replace him, including Garnacho.

The Serie A side have ‘already sounded out’ Man Utd winger Garnacho and the ‘answer was chilling’ with the Red Devils demanding €80m to allow the Argentinian youngster to leave Old Trafford in January.

The report adds: ‘A big discount is needed, which is why Manna then landed in Barcelona last night, to speak with the player’s agents and understand the feasibility of the deal.’

Another Man Utd player who is in the sights of other clubs is Kobbie Mainoo with Chelsea reportedly ready to pay as much as £70m to land the young midfielder.

And transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has explained the situation surrounding the player, he said: “We’ve had many stories in recent days about the future of Kobbie Mainoo at Manchester United. He remains an important player for the club, which Ruben Amorim has confirmed publicly in his recent press conference.

“So, why this situation with Mainoo’s contract still not being signed? Already one year ago, January-February 2024, Man United tried to extend Mainoo’s contract, but then the whole structure changed.

“There have been plenty of changes internally at Manchester United, which means it’s different people negotiating the contract. This can be complicated when there are still important details to clarify and finalise.

“Still, United are relaxed about the situation. They are negotiating and they believe everything is under control, even if there are points to clarify in this new conversation.

“Overall, Mainoo is happy at Manchester United and not desperate to leave at all, so conversations remain ongoing to resolve his future at Old Trafford.”

Man Utd ‘faced with serious FFP issues’ as Chelsea ready £70m ‘offer’ for star

Chelsea are preparing a £70m offer for Man Utd midfielder Kobbie Mainoo as they look to take advantage of the Red Devils ‘serious financial fair play issues’, according to reports.

The Red Devils are struggling in the Premier League this season with Ruben Amorim’s side currently 13th in the Premier League table ahead of their match against bottom club Southampton on Thursday.

After a hard start to life at Old Trafford, Amorim seems to be getting a grip of things at Man Utd with the Red Devils putting in two promising performances against Liverpool and Arsenal in the last couple of fixtures.

Mainoo started in both those fixtures and is seen by Man Utd to be key to their future midfield but a report last week insisted a potential transfer to Premier League rivals Chelsea ‘has legs’.

And now Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has told Sky Sport that Chelsea are ‘ready to consider sending an offer close to £70m’ for Man Utd midfielder Mainoo.

              Tavolieri wrote:

‘Faced with serious financial fair play issues, the Red Devils have been reduced to accepting the unacceptable… a significant offer from a club, whether English or foreign, for any element of Ruben Amorim’s squad will have to be considered and negotiable. Kobbie Mainoo is one of them.

‘While discussions had already started with the Mancunian management with a view to extending his contract at the beginning of the summer of 2024, the current dynamic could therefore completely change the future of the English prodigy at Old Trafford.

‘Already informed of this situation, Chelsea Football Club took the opportunity to come and sound out Mainoo’s entourage and representatives. Still with this idea of recovering the best youngsters in Europe in order to make them grow within the London club, the Blues would even be ready to consider sending an offer close to seventy million pounds to convince Omar Berrada and the United board.

‘Under contract until June 2027, to which is added an option year, Kobbie Mainoo could quickly become annoyed by the lack of ambition within the Mancunian club and draw the necessary consequences.

‘At 19, the English midfielder is a child of the club and obviously gives it priority, but while we often praise the omnipotence of star players, increasingly prone to bending their clubs to the benefit of excessive desires, the situation could take a completely different turn here since it is Manchester United who could push the midfielder to accept the idea of a departure to save the finances of his training club.

‘Napoli’s priority to replace Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Alejandro Garnacho could also be that player if the clubs manage to find an agreement and therefore eliminate the option of Mainoo leaving… but will the Stockport native emerge unscathed from this rather disturbing episode?’

United Women set to face historic tie against free-flowing opponents in FA Cup fifth round

Manchester United Women will take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The current holders had to work hard out but eventually crushed West Bromwich Albion last Saturday evening.

The Red Devils came out on top 7-0 with Rachel Williams bagging a hat trick and Ella Toone scoring her first goal of the season.

The club’s official website reports that United will travel to face Wolves on the weekend beginning the 8th February, with the official date and time yet to be finalised.

“Next month’s match will be our women’s team’s first-ever competitive meeting with the Wanderers,” the report notes.

Like last round’s opponents West Brom, Wolves play their league football in the third tier of the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division.

The Black Country side are well positioned in the table, just one point off the top and have only lost one of their 11 league matches.

They have been in free-flowing form in the cup, “as they entered this season’s FA Cup in the first round proper and recorded high-scoring victories over Asfordby Amateurs (7-1), Sporting Khalsa (8-1) and Shrewsbury Town (14-0).”

They then later booked their place alongside United in the fifth round by beating Cheltenham Town 2-0 last weekend.

United Women are set to embark on a busy January where they will face Manchester City this Sunday evening in the league.

They will then host their city rivals at home in the league cup quarter finals just three days later.

Marc Skinner’s side will close out the month with a tough-looking home match against fifth placed Brighton and Hove Albion as they chase a Champions League spot via a top three finish in the Women’s Super League.

Despite securing progress to the FA Cup fourth round at Arsenal’s expense, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim still needs reinforcements to help the club back up the Premier League table.

There is a gaping hole up front with both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggling to find the back of the net while Diogo Dalot’s weakness at the back was exposed at the Emirates and it is clear that a left wingback is needed urgently.

However, years of poor transfer decisions by the Glazers, combined with the summer splurge and the compensation paid to Erik ten Hag and Sporting Lisbon have meant the club is grappling with PSR concerns.

While INEOS would prefer moving on high-profile players such as Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof, so far no concrete bid has arrived and they are unlikely to fetch too much money.

                  PSR concerns mounting

That is why the new co-owners are mulling over selling academy graduates in order to earn pure profit. Marcus Rashford’s sale could fix things buw owing to his humongous wages, a permanent exit is unlikely in January.

Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, both considered untouchable a few months ago, are no longer in that category with the midfielder and United at a stalemate regarding his contract extension.

That is why the Red Devils are reportedly open to moving the England international on with Chelsea, Bayern Munich among potential suitors.

According to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Blues are ready to pay ‘close to £70 million’ for the midfielder. Mainoo’s current deal is valid until 2027 but his wage demands have meant no new agreement has been reached thus far.

Chelsea willing to pay big to land Mainoo

“Faced with serious financial fair play issues, the Red Devils have been reduced to accepting the unacceptable… a significant offer from a club, whether English or foreign, for any element of Ruben Amorim’s squad will have to be considered.

“Kobbie Mainoo is one of them. It would be heartbreaking to see United move on academy wonderkids but anything is possible at this stage after years of inept Glazers rule. Whether INEOS opt to directly strengthen a domestic rival in the process remains to be seen.

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has found himself in the thick of a heated transfer battle as Ruben Amorim looks to keep the rising star at Old Trafford.

Earlier this month, The Peoples Person relayed that Chelsea have emerged as a favourite to sign Mainoo should he choose to leave Man United.

This speculation came amid the England international’s contract stalemate with United. It was reported that Mainoo is seeking a £200,000-a-week pay rate, which may prove challenging for the club to meet.

To add fuel to the fire, Bayern Munich allegedly joined the race to sign Mainoo, putting more pressure on United to close a deal swiftly.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed where Mainoo stands with regards to his future, revealing what his fate may be as United look to keep him at the club.

Finally, Romano confirmed the midfielder’s frame of mind: “Overall, Mainoo is happy at Manchester United and not desperate to leave at all, so conversations are ongoing to resolve his future at Old Trafford.”

Having broken into the first team last season under Erik ten Hag, Mainoo has become a staple member of United’s starting 11, with current manager Amorim placing a lot of importance on him.

Most recently, he played a pivotal role in leading United to an impressive penalty shootout win away at Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Still, his consistency over the course of the season is indisputable. Mainoo has completed 87% of his passes in the Premier League and 69% of long balls while averaging 2.4 tackles and 4.4 ball recoveries per game, proving his willingness to track back and support his defence. United will surely be hoping to keep him at the club as Amorim looks to build a promising squad that will secure United’s success over the long-term future.

Newcastle United transfers: Newcastle are the only club to ask about transfer of 13-goal star

Reporter Ben Jacobs has revealed the latest on the future of Brentford’s in-form forward Bryan Mbeumo amid Man Utd and Newcastle interest.

The 25-year-old is enjoying the season of his career to date under Thomas Frank, netting 13 goals in 20 Premier League games so far. It represents his best-ever return in the top flight and his form has begun to attract attention from bigger clubs.

His current deal expires in 2026 which suggests he could be set to leave across the next two windows, with this summer being a crucial moment for his career. One club that is said to be reportedly interested in a move is Newcastle United.

With Miguel Almiron seemingly heading for the exit, Howe only possesses Jacob Murphy who is a natural fit on the right wing and more depth is needed to supercharge their squad ahead of the second half of the season.

Ben Jacobs, talking to The United Stand, revealed that Newcastle are the only club to make a ‘concrete’ approach for Mbeumo this season – but it explained that it will be a hugely difficult deal to complete in the January window.

He said: “Brentford don’t want to sell, that’s the first thing. Newcastle are the only club that have made any concrete approach – No bid for January but they’re looking at Mbeumo over the summer.

“What we can say is when Dan Ashworth was still at Newcastle he was looking at Mbeumo.

“It’s logical to think when Ashworth was still at (Man United) he had put Mbeumo into the mix but I’m not aware that has been taken forward by Jason Wilcox, Omar Berrada or any of the recruitment team.

“Nothing on my radar with Manchester United and Bryan Mbeumo other than to point out that Newcastle likes him and they liked him when Dan Ashworth was still there.”

In terms of interest from elsewhere, earlier in the month saw reports that Manchester United were primed to consider a £40million bid to secure him during the January window. They too have been long-term admirers and he would no doubt be a significant boost to Ruben Amorim’s side.

However, that deal is more likely for the summer given they would need to offload both Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho to raise both the necessary funds and squad space.

For Newcastle to secure such a move in January feels unrealistic, as Brentford are unlikely to allow their star player to leave halfway through the season – especially given his brilliant run of form.

They already had a potential replacement for Almiron on their books during the summer but they allowed winger Yankuba Minteh to depart for Brighton for a fee of around £30m, which translated as a significant profit and helped them offset any PSR concerns – but it leaves them longing for an attacker such as Mbeumo.
