Borussia Dortmund are reportedly still “trying to sign Marcus Rashford” despite any move for the Manchester United forward posing a “very complicated situation” for the Bundesliga club financially.

A host of teams across Europe are vying to sign Rashford in the January transfer window after the 27-year-old publicly declared his desire to depart Old Trafford last month, revealing he wished to experience a “new challenge”.

Rashford has not featured for the Red Devils since that blockbuster interview with Ruben Amorim openly questioning the decision-making from the Englishman and his camp, having dropped the forward for the Manchester Derby.

The interview, which the club was unaware of, came just three days after the dramatic 2-1 win at the Eithad.

United are open to Rashford’s exit this month, though any deal will almost certainly be a loan move with the 27-year-old’s stock at an all time low following eighteen months of dismal form in a red shirt.

Rashford’s exorbitant wage packet – believed to be in excess of £300,000 a week – is a further obstacle to potential suitors.

Few clubs outside of Saudi Arabia would be willing to pay anywhere close to that salary, including Dortmund. And it was for this reason that the German side had appeared to rule out an approach for Rashford.

However, Florian Plettenberg (Sky Sports Germany) reveals Die Schwarzgelben remain in the hunt for the United star with a potential move having “gained momentum in recent days”.

⤵️⚫️🟡 As exclusively revealed this week: Borussia Dortmund are trying to sign Marcus #Rashford ✔️

Tweet: “As exclusively revealed this week: Borussia Dortmund are trying to sign Marcus #Rashford…as the topic has gained momentum in recent days, especially after the defeat on Friday. It’s a very complicated situation. AC Milan are determined to sign Rashford, but #BVB are also in the race.”

Dortmund are enduring a tough season with Nuri Sahin’s side currently languished in 10th place in the Bundesliga table.

Disappointing back-to-back losses over the last four days, including a 3-2 loss at home to Bayer Leverkusen, have ramped up the pressure on Sahin, with former United manager Erik ten Hag in attendance for the defeat, fuelling rumours he may be set to take over at Dortmund.

And whole Ten Hag and Rashford did not always enjoy the best of relationships, the best form of the 27-year-old attacker’s career undoubtedly came under the Dutchman during their shared time at Old Trafford.

Furthermore, German football expert Christian Falk contends Chelsea are “in talks to sign” Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi, while Napoli are also interested in a move for the 22-year-old this month.

This combination of a forward potentially leaving Signal Iduna Park and Rashford’s former manager arriving could be the spark which means Dortmund intensify efforts to strike a deal with United ahead of European competitors AC Milan and Barcelona.

Man Utd reject Euro giants bid for star forward as their No.1 target costs far more than offered

Manchester United have reportedly rejected an offer from Napoli for Alejandro Garnacho, as they feel he is worth far more than what has been offered.

Garnacho’s status at United has changed rapidly of late. He went from a promising youngster to a first-team regular in little time, and was seen as an untouchable asset just a short few months ago.

But Ruben Amorim removed him from his squad for December’s Manchester derby, and cost-cutting measures are being undertaken by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, meaning nobody is safe, Garnacho included.

He is seen as the No.1 target for Serie A side Napoli – following the exit of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – and according to the Mirror, they have lodged a bid for the United man, but it has been turned away.

The report states that the Red Devils rejected a £40million offer from Napoli, as they maintain that Garnacho is worth £60million.

There is a belief that Garnacho is willing to leave, but United are ready to play hardball to get the price they feel they deserve.

Whether Napoli intend to go back in with a better offer is not mentioned in the report. However, with Kvaratskhelia leaving for £70million, they would be able to pay what United want.

Whether they themselves feel that Garnacho is worth that remains to be seen. If the winger does leave, he’s unlikely to be the only player to do so in January.

It’s felt that a very small offer could be accepted for Casemiro in order to get his massive wages off the books. Marcus Rashford’s future remains up in the air, and other players could follow if the right offers come in.

United surprisingly ready to sell their star for €50m, ex-PL manager pushing to sign him – report

Manchester United’s asking price for Alejandro Garnacho has dramatically dropped, as per reports in Italy.

Garnacho has been the subject of interest from Napoli, who have agreed to sell Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 20-year-old Argentine has had a complicated, for lack of a better word, 2024/25 season so far. He has eight goals and five assists across all competitions — a good return for any young winger.

However, the United academy product has received backlash for his attitude and was even dropped by Ruben Amorim ahead of the Manchester derby last month.

The ex-Sporting CP boss has indicated he has high hopes for Garnacho but at the same time underlined that he needs to improve.

Amid this, Napoli have shown interest in luring him away from Old Trafford.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Partenopei have made a move for the South American, as he is Antonio Conte’s preferred choice to replace the outgoing Kvaratskhelia.

The report stated that United want around £60 million (€71m) for their left-winger.

Now Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) have suggested the Premier League giants have dropped their asking price and their ‘aim to get €50m’ (£42m).

INEOS want to balance the club’s books amid financial fair play concerns and are accordingly understood to be open to listening to offers for all players, including Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho.

However, it is unlikely United would accept a fee in the region of €50m for Garnacho, who is regarded as one of the most exciting young wingers in Europe despite some flaws.

He is tied to the club until the summer of 2028 so there isn’t any apparent desperation to resolve his future either. Italian media appear to be getting ahead of themselves concerning United’s stance on Garnacho.

Rashford ghosts front-runners for his signature as he sets his heart on a different club – report

After years of abject ownership by the Glazers, Manchester United are in a precarious position regarding their PSR situation, which is stopping them from going all gung-ho in the January window despite Ruben Amorim’s need for reinforcements.

The club is trying to move on high earners like Casemiro and Antony, but so far, no concrete approach has been made and their sales would do little to ease the club’s woes.

That is why INEOS are mulling over moving academy graduates on as their sales would represent pure profit. Marcus Rashford seems the favourite to depart this window after the Mancunian publicly revealed his desire for a new adventure.

There has been interest from all over the world but the England international does not wish to leave Europe for the riches of the Middle East and MLS and has already turned down numerous lucrative offers.

Rashford’s future to be decided this month

United’s new co-owners are unlikely to sanction an exit to a direct domestic rival with Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United among his suitors.

As per recent reports, AC Milan were in pole position with the United No 10 and his agent set for a meeting with the Rossoneri on Wednesday.

However, as revealed by SPORT, the Englishman’s dream destination is Barcelona, something Milan have figured out as well with the Catalan giants now looking favourites for his signature.

“Rashford has not wanted to respond to the offer made by Milan and, as confirmed by ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’, the Italian club practically gives up on the signing due to the player’s desire to wear the Blaugrana.

“Milan were waiting for the meeting that Rashford’s brother and agent held in the last few hours with Manchester United to find out if they were the chosen ones by both the English club and the player to move forward with the loan.

          Barca in pole position

“But there has been no response and in Italy it is very clear that Rashford wants to go to Barça and is willing to wait until the market closes despite United’s rush to get him off.”

Barca boss Hansi Flick is an admirer of the 27-year-old owing to his versatility with the United academy product capable of playing both on the wings and up front.

Now for either Rashford to reduce his wage demands or for United to subsidise his exit and the La Liga club are in business. They are in the midst of trying to free up their wage bill by agreeing to move a player on. Ansu Fati seems the favourite to make way for the English forward.

Hopefully, the loan exit will include a high buy clause so that United will not need to think about moving either of Alejandro Garnacho or Kobbie Mainoo on next time around.

Man Utd emerge as shock ‘main candidate’ for Liverpool star after £70m bid rejected

Man Utd emerge as shock ‘main candidate’ for Liverpool star after £70m bid rejected

Manchester United have reportedly emerged as the ‘main candidate’ to sign Darwin Nunez from Liverpool as the Red Devils look to strike a ‘symbolic blow’ to their bitter rivals.

Nunez – who joined the club for a £64m upfront fee that could rise to a club-record £85m – has never entirely convinced at Anfield and is enduring a particularly difficult third season under new manager Arne Slot.

He’s managed just four goals and four assists in 26 appearances across all competitions, and with Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota all impressing along with the indomitable Mohamed Salah, reports suggest Liverpool would be willing to listen to offers for the Uruguayan.

It was earlier this month that AC Milan were ‘preparing a bid’ for the striker, proposing a six-month loan deal with a £41.5m obligation to buy in the summer, but their interest in United star Marcus Rashford appears to have put that potential deal on the back-burner, with Sergio Conceicao replacing compatriot Paulo Fonseca at the helm another possible explanation for a change of tack.

But Spanish outlet Fichajes claimed earlier this week that Milan remain in the running for the 25-year-old, while Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are also thought to be keeping tabs.

Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal have reportedly made most progress over the deal though.

The Liverpool forward is said to have ‘an incredible contract offer to consider’ from Al-Hilal with the Saudi Arabian outfit ‘ready to pay Nunez around £400k per week if he moves there’, which equates to £20.8m per year.

Liverpool are said to have ‘rejected an extraordinary first offer’ for Nunez, worth around £70m.

It is noted that the ‘expectation was that he would leave Anfield at the end of the season if Slot couldn’t get the best out of him’, but his spell at Liverpool ‘could be ending this month’.

And that possibility appears to have caught the attention of Manchester United, who have ’emerged as the main candidate for his services’.

            The report adds:

‘For Manchester United, getting Núñez would represent not only a strategic incorporation, but also a symbolic blow in the transfer market. Incorporating a player from their maximum rival would be a bold move, a reflection of the ambition they pursue under the command of Rúben Amorim. In addition, the style of the Uruguayan seems to fit with the needs of the Dutch coach, who is looking for a striker capable of combining strength, speed and efficiency in front of the goal.

‘The future of the Uruguayan attacker could be resolved in the coming weeks, with the interest of United marking the course of the negotiations. Darwin Núñez, whose talent is undeniable, could be about to star in one of the most controversial and significant signings of recent times in English football. The possibility of seeing him dressed in red, but at Old Trafford, promises to intensify the rivalry between both clubs.’

Man Utd transfer: Garnacho sale green lighted with ‘good offer’ on the table as Amorim responds

Jamie Carragher believes Manchester United should sell Alejandro Garnacho if they receive a “good offer” for the winger.

Having previously been an ‘untouchable’ member of the squad, Garnacho could be on his way out of Old Trafford this month with United attracted by the idea of his ‘pure profit’ sale.

A report on Wednesday claimed Napoli has reached an ‘agreement’ with the Argentinian’s representatives, though the Serie A side aren’t willing to pay the €70m the Red Devils want for their prized asset.

Garnacho has started just half of United’s Premier League games this season and has struggled for minutes since being dropped by Amorim for last month’s Manchester derby, at which point rumours of his exit began

Fellow academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo has also been linked with a move away, with Chelsea ready to pounce amid a standoff between the 19-year-old and the United bosses over a new contract.

Carragher reckons United should keep Mainoo but should be open to Garnacho’s sale if a decent bid comes in for the Argentina international.

“Mainoo you’ve got to keep. Mainoo looks to me like he could be a really good player,” Carragher said on The Overlap.

“But Garnacho, I don’t know. If you got good money for Garnacho… I think if you got a good offer for him it wouldn’t be the end of the world.”

Arsenal hero Ian Wright tipped Garnacho to make a move to Italy, adding: “Garnacho has AC Milan vibes, he’s got those vibes. He’s got that look about him.”

United legend Gary Neville is uneasy at the prospect of Manchester United selling any academy players who are playing regular first-team football.

“I don’t like the idea of United selling academy players,” he said.

“I didn’t like it when Chelsea were selling there ones when they were in the first-team, I certainly don’t like the idea of United doing it.

“I get it if they’re on the cusp of playing but if they’re actually in the first-team, you can’t…”

Amorim addressed speculation over Garnacho’s future ahead of his side’s clash with Southampton on Thursday.

Asked if Garnacho had the talent to have a bright future at Old Trafford, Amorim said: “That is clear.

“He has talent. He needs to learn to play in a different position. He needs to play better inside. He improves a lot recovering (his) position when he doesn’t have the ball.

“But doing that, sometimes he’s not in the right place to make transitions like he was in the past because I prefer to defend and then build up with all the team to reach the final third.

“He’s finding the best way to play in this system. He’s improving during training. He started the last game. Let’s see (against Southampton).”

“His first choice:” sources identify Amorim’s priority transfer this January – report

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim appears to be determined to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Back in late October, The Peoples Person discussed Man United’s alleged interest in the Algerian left-back, who has proven to be a key player for Wolves this season.

Although talk of Ait-Nouri’s potential move to Old Trafford has since quietened down, it was reignited this morning, with Amorim believed to be viewing the Wolves full-back as a priority signing.

“With Luke Shaw’s injury record curtailing his career at Old Trafford, sources have indicated to CaughtOffside that Amorim wants to bring in Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri as his first choice left-back,” CaughtOffside reported.

The article added that Tyrell Malacia’s days at United may be coming to an end.

“It does appear that the injury prone and therefore unreliable Tyrell Malacia will also be allowed to move on before the end of the month. According to CaughtOffside sources close to Man United, Juventus have made enquiries about the 25-year-old who missed all of last season following knee surgery.”

“The Italian football giants are looking to loan the player until the end of the season and then make the move permanent in the summer. Importantly, sources have also advanced that the Bianconeri are ready to cover the bulk of Malacia’s £75,000-a-week salary,” the report concluded.

For Amorim, it makes sense to prioritise the purchase of a left-back during the January transfer window, given United’s lack of options.

Luke Shaw, whose career has been massively hindered by injuries, is currently sidelined with a calf, shin, and heel setback.

Given that United’s first-choice left-back has been largely unavailable in recent times, Amorim decided to give Malacia, who recently returned from a long absence himself, an opportunity to prove himself as a wing-back.

Unfortunately, he has largely disappointed, proving ineffective both in defence and on the attack.

In contrast, Ait-Nouri has been in fine form for the struggling Wolves, making 2.4 tackles per game and 4.7 ball recoveries. He also has an 86% passing accuracy in the Premier League.

While the Algerian has produced a fine defensive performance and proven his passing ability, he has been most impressive on the attack. With five assists and four big chances created, Ait-Nouri has shown that he has an ideal profile for the wing-back position in Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 formation. (Stats via Sofascore)

Given that Malacia is the only natural left-back apart from the injured Shaw, Ait-Nouri’s transfer this January appears to be vital, especially given his fine recent form.

Man Utd transfers: ‘Any fee’ to be accepted for high earner who Red Devils ‘just want gone’

Manchester United would accept “any fee” for Casemiro according to football finance expert Stefan Borson, as the club “just want him gone”, though they do have one route in mind above others.

Casemiro has started just half of United’s 10 Premier League games this season. What’s more, since Ruben Amorim took charge, the boss has shown a clear preference for Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte.

Casemiro is reportedly the highest earner at United, making £350,000 per week. That is a lot of money to pay somebody to sit on the bench.

As such, Borson believes the club would accept any sum to push him and his contract out of the door in January.

“Clearly, nobody wants to buy either an old player, an underperforming player or a player on high wages,” Borson told Football Insider.

“United have got a number of players who are a combination of all three of those. Those players are just going to be very hard to shift unless you effectively give them away or subsidise the moves.

“Clearly, Saudi is the answer to everything for a club like United, but there are few slots available for players in Saudi right now.

“If you look at Casemiro’s situation, United would love to sell him in January to Saudi. I’m sure they would sell him for any fee, £5million or whatever just to get him off the wage bill.

“But again, he’s another player on maybe £350,000 a week. They just want him gone at his age and they would write it off.

“Although they have got probably something like £15million book value-wise on him, so they have to be slightly careful because they don’t want to create an additional loss for PSR.

“But assuming somebody effectively gets them out from a neutral position from a PSR perspective, I’m sure they would want him out.”

Some feel that Casemiro will also want to leave given his current standing at United, such as former defender Ferdinand, who feels the change in his playing time is something he’s going to have to adapt to if he remains.

Man Utd ‘discuss €38m fee’ with Napoli as report confirms Garnacho exit desire

Manchester United and Napoli are still some way apart in their valuation of Alejandro Garnacho after ‘discussing a €38m fee’ for the winger.

Having previously been an ‘untouchable’ member of the squad, Garnacho could be on his way out of Old Trafford this month with United attracted by the idea of his ‘pure profit’ sale.

A report on Wednesday claimed Napoli has reached an ‘agreement’ with the Argentinian’s representatives, but the Independent now claim negotiations aren’t quite that advanced, though personal terms aren’t expected to be an issue.

                    The report states:

‘Napoli have already started some work on a potential deal, and Garnacho is understood to be open to a move to the Italian club, although personal terms are yet to be agreed. The player’s pace fits manager Antonio Conte’s ideal for how he wants the team to play.

‘While it is anticipated the personal terms would not be an issue should it get to that stage with Garnacho, there may have to be considerable negotiation on fee.’

It’s claimed ‘the two clubs have discussed a €38m fee suggested by Napoli’, but United are holding out for a similar fee to the €70m Paris Saint-Germain paid the Serie A side for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Garnacho has started just half of United’s Premier League games this season and has struggled for minutes since being dropped by Amorim for last month’s Manchester derby, at which point rumours of his exit began.

Jamie Carragher claims United should accept a “good offer” for the 20-year-old and Gary Neville says he “wouldn’t be surprised” if the club sanctioned the exits of both Garnacho and fellow academy graduate Marcus Rashford as Amorim looks to “wrestle control” like legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Hammer blow: United’s prolific star set for significant time on the sidelines ahead of vital tie

Manchester United academy star Gabriele Biancheri looks set to be on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.

He signed his first professional deal with the club in September 2023.

The 18 year old has been in prolific form this season, scoring 16 goals in 17 matches.

The Welsh under 19s international stole the headlines when he scored a hat-trick in a Youth Cup match against Coventry City last month.

It looks like he won’t be involved in Friday night’s match against Preston North End in the fourth round of the Youth cup however, according to a post on his social media.

The youngster uploaded a picture to his Instagram stories reel showing he had undergone surgery on an unspecified injury.

In the photo, it can be seen that Biancheri’s arm is in a cast, and he claimed that he would be “back soon”.

Whilst the injury looks like it will allow him to play again this season, it is a hammer blow to the academy team as their season is about to start up again after the winter break.

In addition, it will surely end any chance the youngster has of going out on loan in search of senior football in this campaign.

Gabriele Biancheri’s coaches at the club believe that the Welsh striker has the talent to go “right to the top” and he has already trained with the first team last season when Rasmus Hojlund was out injured.

What’s more, it has been reported that the youngster has caught Ruben Amorim’s eye with his outstanding displays at youth level, so he might be in line for a senior call up before the season is done.

With Biancheri’s goals out of the question for the next few weeks at least, all eyes will be on summer recruit Chido Obi to take on the burden of scoring the goals to keep the academy team firing in the league and cup.
