Solskjaer confirms Besiktas’ transfer stance on signing United duo who have fallen out of favour under Amorim

Solskjaer confirms Besiktas’ transfer stance on signing United duo who have fallen out of favour under Amorim

Former Manchester United manager and current Besiktas boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed he is currently not pursuing Marcus Rashford or Casemiro.

The two United stars have been linked with exits this month, having fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim.

Rashford has not played for United in their last nine games across all competitions after openly admitting he is prepared for a new challenge away from Old Trafford.

The England international is widely expected to seal a loan move amidst plenty of interest in his services, although his massive wages are proving to be a hindrance in getting a deal over the line.

Meanwhile, Casemiro was mentioned to be on the radar of Saudi Pro League outfit Al Nassr but the rumours seem to have gone cold over the past few days.

United are open to letting him leave before deadline day on February 3, in an effort to offload his hefty salary from their books.

Solskjaer – who had been out of work since leaving United in 2021 – made his return to professional football over the weekend as he was appointed the new manager of Besiktas.

Naturally, his arrival at the Istanbul club has sparked speculation that he could turn to his Old Trafford connections in a bid to bolster his squad.

Speaking to reporters [via Metro], Solskjaer was asked about potentially signing Casemiro or Rashford this month. The Norwegian replied, “There’s always a lot of speculation about Manchester United players, always a lot of speculation around me.”

“Casemiro, Marcus, two very good players, but I have not spoken to any of them.”

He added, “We are looking at possibilities for transfers in a few different positions.”

“Serdar [Topraktepe], at the moment, is helping us a lot, he’s helping us a lot.”

“It feels like the group, the energy, they are gelling well together, the coaches, the assistants, him and me.”

Solskjaer’s first game in charge comes in the Europa League against Athletic Bilbao this Thursday.

Man Utd transfer disaster exposed by wing-back perfect for Ruben Amorim in crazy Barcelona win

Manchester United have been lightly criticised for letting Alvaro Carreras Fernandez go but it has largely gone under the radar. He proved for Benfica against FC Barcelona that he is the perfect left-wing-back for Ruben Amorim in Tuesday’s ridiculous 5-4 Champions League classic; for 45 minutes anyway.

The Red Devils are not averse to a transfer market blunder – it is actually something of a specialty. Selling adventurous attacking left-back Carreras is another amateur decision made by the Man United transfer team, especially when you consider they only received £5million.

They were switched on enough to include a buy-back clause but are probably too stubborn to exercise it six months after letting him leave on the cheap. Reports suggest the release clause is either £16m or £25m.

Erik ten Hag pushed Carreras out on loan to Granada in 2023 because he wanted Premier League experience. The player he brought in was Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon, whose loan was terminated months later. United did not owe Carreras anything when they made that decision but it cannot have sat well with the young Spaniard, who was clearly good enough to be Luke Shaw’s back-up with Tyrell Malacia out for the season.

He played a decent amount but not regularly enough for Granada and switched loan clubs in January 2024, joining Benfica for the second half of the season with a buy option included in the deal. Benfica obviously exercised that option and what a decision that was, in contrast to another example of Man United acting like transfer novices.

Carreras and Benfica – managed by ex-Wolves boss Bruno Lage – are loving life together and we suspect the Red Devils might have registered an interest by now if the 21-year-old was not a player they sold months ago, but some shiny new toy valued at £40m.

The young Spaniard’s latest impressive performance came against Barcelona on an absolutely mental Tuesday night in Lisbon. His assignment for the night was some kid called Lamine Yamal but Carreras was more focused on attacking in the first half, dealing with the 17-year-old impeccably when needed.

Benfica changed their mentality after the break but his start was absolutely electric, providing an assist after two minutes for Vangelis Pavlidis, who would go on to score a 30-minute hat-trick.

The fast start set the tone for what would go on to be one of the best, most ridiculous games you will see all season.

Barcelona No. 9 Robert Lewandowski equalised from the penalty spot after Carreras’ fellow full-back, Tomas Araujo, fouled Carreras’ opposite left-back Alejandro Balde in the box. They weren’t level for long.

Pavlidis’ second came after a catastrophic error from Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who crunched Balde when trying to play sweeper ‘keeper. If he committed that assault on an opposition player, he would have been sent off. Not because he was last man, but because it bordered on GBH.

The Greek striker was there to score into an empty net and Szczesny’s evening somehow got even worse when he gave away a penalty for a foul on Kerem Akturkoglu. What a shambles as Pavlidis converted from the spot to complete his hat-trick and give the La Liga giants a mountain to climb.

They went for it though and were given a helping hand by Benfica goalkeeper Anatolii Trubin, whose wayward kick bizarrely bounced off Raphinha’s head and into the back of the net.

Minutes later, a different Barca player decided to put their name in the hat for d**k of the day. Ronald Araujo beat Szczesny and Pavlidis to a front-post cross to restore the hosts’ two-goal advantage, which would soon disappear.

On an evening full of silly mistakes, Carreras decided to get in on the act as well, conceding a penalty for a foul on Yamal, which we found to be incredibly, incredibly harsh. Lewandowski didn’t care as he scored his second spot-kick to make it 4-3.

Speaking of Man United, a man they are relying on to be sold by Barca so they can afford to sign Marcus Rashford scored the eighth goal of the game. Eric Garcia’s close-range header levelled things up again and on the counter deep into injury time, Raphinha scored his second to win the match for the Catalan giants in the most dramatic way imaginable. Carreras getting nutmegged by the match-winning shot was far from ideal.

But his first half performance was world class, it should not have been a penalty and we are still impressed. The young Spaniard would be perfect in Ruben Amorim’s system, especially for the reported buy-back clause. Forget Patrick Dorgus and Nuno Mendes, bring the boy back… if he even wants to return to the leaky graveyard that is Old Trafford.

Carreras registered an assist, created two big chances and defended very well against one of the best attackers in the world before an already chaotic match became completely psychotic and got away from him and his colleagues.

Here’s hoping Amorim did not break his own television watching that first-half performance from Carreras. On second thoughts, it probably works better for us if he didn’t see what happened after the break…

Another goal for Chido Obi but young defender was outstanding for u21s despite loss

Manchester United u21s ended their Premier League International Cup campaign with a 1-3 loss to FC Nordsjælland which sees them finish in 7th place out 8, only ahead of Liverpool.

Here are our player ratings for the match. Read the detailed match report of all the action here.

(A score of 6 is around average)

Tom Myles – 5 – Started well with a good save and getting off his line quick to cut off the angles in two 1v1 situations but made a mistake for their second goal, passing straight to the forward to score.

Habeeb Ogunneye – 4.5 – A night to forget for Ogunneye, his wayward back pass set Nordsjælland through for their first goal and he struggled under the physicality of their press in possession. The few times he ventured forward, his delivery into the box was also poor.

Louis Jackson – 5.5 – Struggled a bit under the press in possession and with Nordsjælland’s quick transitions and runs in behind but was strong in the air.

Godwill Kukonki – 5.5 – Could have possibly done better with his goal line clearance, which immediately preceded their first goal and moved the ball too slowly in possession.

Harry Amass – 7.5 – One of the only players who looked capable of playing to the tempo of the opposition and handling their press. He held the ball well, made some incisive runs, and provided a good cross to Obi late in the match that could have been an assist. He also held his own defensively with some good 1v1 challenges.

Sekou Kone – 6 – A decent performance as he comes back from injury, particularly his defensive output and tracking of runners. On the ball he had some neat touches but wasn’t assertive enough to gain to control for United and couldn’t pull off his passes when he tried to play more expansively.

Jack Moorhouse – 5 – Was overrun in midfield and wasn’t able to play through Nordsjælland’s press, who gave him no time on the ball to turn and run.

Ruben Curley – 5.5 – Played one good cross into the box that threatened but generally wanted too many touches on the ball and wasn’t able to carve out many openings.

Ashton Missin – 6 – Tried to create a few openings on the right wing with his change of pace but never really got into a rhythm.

Chido Obi – 7.5 – Didn’t see the ball for the opening half hour but suddenly came alive with a thunderbolt of a shot off the crossbar before looking threatening every time he saw the ball. Scored one and could have had another if he could have sorted his feet a bit quicker, but was generally let down with the service supplied to him throughout.

Sam Mather – 5 – A near non-identity, he had little impact on the match which is far too often his problem.

        Substitutes

Jack Kingdon – 6 – Solid defensively and moved the ball a bit quicker on his introduction.

Finley McAllister – 7.5 – An incredible assist for Obi to score, cutting through the entire Nordsjælland side from back to front with an eye of the needle pass. Also offered a lot of fight in midfield to match their intensity, helping gain a foothold in the match late on.

Jayce Fitzgerald – 7.5 – Transformed the midfield on his introduction with good ball manipulation and body feints to dodge challenges and open up the pitch to play forward which the starting midfielders failed to do. His ability to touch into space and quickly release the ball allowed United to gain some control in the second half.

Amir Ibragimov – 6 – Provided more energy further up the pitch and linked with the ball decently but wasn’t overly threatening.

Malachi Sharpe – 6 – Was a willing runner in the final stages of the match.

Man Utd told to ‘sack Ruben Amorim this morning’ as ‘mad’ boss is ‘trying to get the boot’

Man Utd should sack Ruben Amorim “this morning” after his post-match comments against Brighton, according to beIN Sports presenter Richard Keys.

The Red Devils are having a terrible season with Amorim’s side currently 13th in the Premier League table after 22 matches and only seven wins.

Their latest defeat came against Brighton over the weekend with goals from Yankuba Minteh, Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter putting Man Utd to the sword as the Seagulls ran out 3-1 winners.

Amorim did not defend his side after the match on Sunday, instead deciding to label them as the “worst team maybe in the history” of Man Utd.

That has drawn some criticism from pundits, while former Man Utd defender Wes Brown defended Amorim’s decision to throw his players under the bus.

But Keys reckons Amorim is trying to get himself sacked at Man Utd, with his comments after the Brighton match now convincing the former Sky Sports presenter that he wants the boot.

Keys wrote on his blog: “What the hell was Ruben Amorim thinking when he said [his side were the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United]?

“Is he mad? Why would you do that? Isn’t he the man charged with making things better?

“Trust me – I really didn’t want to talk about United today, but how can I not? ‘We’re the worst side in United’s history’ screamed the Mail’s back page.

“No criticism of them. Every other outlet did the same – whether it was the socials, radio, tv or the rest of the newspaper world. I still can’t fathom what Amorim was trying to achieve. We know United are bad.

“That’s why you’re there Ruben. It’s your job to fix it – not tell us ‘I only have one way’ and follow up by telling the world your players are s*** – the very same players you need to help you out of this mess.

“I said a couple of weeks ago I thought he was trying to get the sack. I’m even more convinced now. If I was his boss I’d call him in this morning and give him his wish.

“Not only does every other team now start on the front foot knowing he believes that – but he’s actually saying to fans – already ripped off by Sunny Jim’s price rises – ‘you mugs – we’re taking your money under false pretences’. My goodness. How bad is it going to get at Old Trafford?”

United want to “get rid” of star midfielder as coaching staff is “fed up” with his performances – report

Manchester United have been left disappointed by Casemiro’s impact this season, as per reports.

Marcus Rashford’s fallout with Ruben Amorim has received plenty of media attention over the last few weeks.

The new United gaffer reportedly dropped the Englishman from his matchday squad for the Manchester derby in mid-December after his subpar performance in training.

Rashford hasn’t been handed a single minute of football by Amorim since then and is expected to exit Old Trafford this month, having reportedly already agreed personal terms with Barcelona.

The ex-Real Madrid midfielder arguably has had an even worse campaign on the pitch, having looked a shadow of his former self.

According to Fichajes, United are “fed up” with Casemiro’s poor level of performance this season.

He hasn’t featured for the Red Devils this year, having been left as an unused substitute in the side’s last four outings.

It is claimed the 32-year-old has “generated disappointment in the board and the coaching staff.”

Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte have become regular starters under Amorim. Meanwhile, for rotation, Amorim has placed his trust in academy midfielder Toby Collyer, who has appeared a lot more composed in possession than Casemiro and has also done well out of possession.

The Spanish outlet claim that “everything points to the club having already decided to get rid of the player in this transfer market.”

However, an imminent exit appears unlikely due to very limited interest in Casemiro’s services. His astronomical wages, believed to be north of £300k-a-week, have also made United’s attempt to offload him difficult.

Al-Nassr were heavily linked with a move for him early this month. However, on Tuesday, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming “a January deal is off the cards” as the Saudi Pro League outfit now have different priorities.

Unstoppable Chido Obi scores for u21s again after taking part in first team training

Manchester United u21s took on FC Nordsjælland in the Premier League International Cup on Tuesday night.

With United already knocked out of the competition with no way to advance, the match was one to gain experience from against a strong Danish side who had already defeated Liverpool and Norwich.

After late confirmation of the venue, it was a small crowd of 334 on the night but fans were able to tune into the away side’s live stream of the match as United decided not to provide coverage on MUTV.

The visitors took early control on the pitch with Levy Nene forcing some early interventions from Tom Myles in the United goal.

Araphat Mohammed eventually gave Nordsjælland the lead just before the half hour mark. Habeeb Ogunneye’s wayward back pass set Nene through on goal to dink over Myles. It was initially stopped on the line by Godwill Kukonki but Araphat followed in to open the scoring.

Nene then got his name on the scoresheet just a minute later. Another mistake at the back from United saw Myles, under the pressure of Nordsjælland’s high press, pass the ball straight to Nene to quickly finish low into the goal.

The 18 year old Malian forward, who was a stand out on the night, is the younger brother of Dorgeles Nene of RB Salzburg who has recently been linked with a move to United. And after this performance, Levy will certainly have had his name highlighted alongside his brother’s by the United scouts.

United enjoyed a short spell late in the first half. Chido Obi saw his first involvement on the ball, which allowed the youngster to drive 30 yards before smacking it off the crossbar from the edge of the box.

Obi then had another two attempts before the break, the first of which forced a good save from the opposition keeper before volleying over the bar from Ashton Missin’s cross that came to him at an awkward height.

As a result, Nordsjælland held their 0-2 lead going into the break.

Early in the second half, Levy Nene doubled his tally from a corner. The ball was delivered into the box for him to head in off the hands of Myles, who could only swat it into the goal.

After losing the midfield battle for much of the opening hour of the match, a triple substitution in midfield for United saw the introduction of Jayce Fitzgerald, Finley McAllister, and Amir Ibragimov. The trio immediately brought an improvement to United’s play.

Fitzgerald in particular was instrumental in United gaining a foothold in the match in the latter stages but it was McAllister’s defence splitting through ball that set Obi free to pull one back for United with a side footed finish.

Despite the improvement, it was too little too late for United. The final whistle came with the score 1-3 to give Nordsjælland the three points which puts them top of the group.

Travis Binnion’s u21s now turn their attentions back to Premier League 2 where they will travel to Brighton on Saturday looking to continue their three-match winning streak in the league.

United: Myles, Ogunneye, Jackson (c), Kukonki (Kingdon 45), Amass, Kone (McAllister 62), Moorhouse (Ibragimov 62), Missin (Sharpe 70), Curley (Fitzgerald 62), Mather, Obi

Manchester United’s former deputy football director Andy O’Boyle has reportedly applied for the job of loans manager at Liverpool.

O’Boyle was appointed at United in 2022, making his return to the club 16 years after he served as an academy coach.

He left his role as head of elite performance at the Premier League to support ex-football director John Murtough at Old Trafford.

O’Boyle worked with Murtough in efforts to drive United’s football strategy across the first team, academy and women’s team.

However, in September last year, he became one of the multiple executives who left the club as part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’ restructuring of the senior hierarchy.

O’Boyle played a crucial role in the transition period following Ratcliffe’s £1.3billion investment, which made him a co-owner of the Red Devils.

He was also heavily involved in United’s summer transfer window, in which a sum in excess of £200million was splashed on acquiring Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte and Sekou Kone. He also oversaw a number of departures.

Now, the Daily Mail report that O’Boyle has submitted his application to become the next loans manager at Liverpool.

The newspaper notes that the Northern Irishman previously worked as a first-team fitness coach at Anfield, so working for the Merseysiders won’t be a new experience for him.

It’s understood that INEOS offloaded O’Boyle because his role “was no longer required” after the new leadership team was set up.

Meanwhile, United are back in action on Thursday when they face Scottish outfit Rangers in the Europa League.

                Kick-off is at 20:00 GMT.

Old Trafford capacity could be reduced should United fail to address “persistent” problem – report

The capacity of Manchester United’s iconic home, Old Trafford, is at risk of being reduced amidst concerns over the number of fans standing during games.

This is according to the Daily Mail who report that the Sports Ground Safety Authority, the Government’s advisor on sports stadia in the UK, has “forced” United to “take stronger action” over the issue.

According to the newspaper, “United are coming under increasing pressure from a government body to clamp down on ‘persistent standing’ inside Old Trafford – and risk having the capacity reduced if they fail to do so.”

“The SGSA has the power to close parts of Old Trafford, and while there is no suggestion that tipping point has been reached, sources say United’s hands are tied and have been left with no choice but to be more proactive.”

“The group has outlined its concerns with the number of fans standing in certain parts of the ground, including the Stretford End.”

This development comes after footage emerged online after the defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion, of stewards taking photographs of fans who were standing up.

The stewards were urging fans to sit down, but it is understood that their approach did not sit well with some sections of the fanbase, who viewed the act of taking photos as a “drastic measure.”

The Mail note that United are adamant they have never recorded any injuries arising from persistent standing.

The Red Devils have been left “surprised” by SSGSA’s directive as they believe they’ve done everything possible to comply with the body’s rules and requirements.

In July 2023, United confirmed the addition of a further 2,100 safe-standing seats at Old Trafford, bringing the total to 6,000.

The extra rail seats were added in the south west quadrant of the stadium, adjoining the Stretford End and the home of the Red Army fan group.

United first introduced safe standing at the Theatre of Dreams in January 2022, when the stadium was one of five chosen for a trial period, which began with 1,500 rail seats in the north east quadrant and 2,500 in the away end.

Ruben Amorim and his players are back in action on Thursday when they face Rangers in the Europa League.

Rashford issues ultimatum to Barcelona, threatens to “activate other options” – report

Marcus Rashford’s future has continued to dominate headlines for the best part of a month with Manchester United desperate to move him on this window.

Despite AC Milan‘s overtures, the Mancunian’s heart seems to be set on a move to Barcelona with their coach Hansi Flick a big admirer of the United No 10.

However, owing to La Liga’s 1:1 rule, the Catalan giants can only afford a deal for the Englishman should they manage to make space for him in the squad.

As previously relayed on The Peoples Person, Ansu Fati’s reluctance to depart Camp Nou was holding up the move despite the forward agreeing personal terms.

                    Meeting between Rashford and Barca

Borussia Dortmund are intensifying their interest in the Carrington graduate and as a result, La Liga club are trying to hurry up proceedings.

As revealed by SPORT, Rashford’s camp and Barca officials met in Lisbon, where Barcelona are due to face Benfica in the Champions League, with the England international’s agent making it clear that Rashford would prefer an early resolution as he is desperate to play football again.

Barca are trying to move on Eric Garcia with Girona interested but until and unless the transfer goes through, Rashford’s future could remain in limbo.

Which is why he has informed the Spanish giants that if they cannot agree on an exit in the coming days, Rashford will look at alternate options.

“According to this newspaper, there was a meeting in Lisbon on Tuesday between Barça and the Manchester United striker’s agents.

                    Rashford wants Barca to hurry

“Although the British player’s preference is to end up at Barça – the truth is that Marcus is beginning to be in a hurry to resolve his situation.

“This means that if the Blaugrana club cannot arrange an exit in the next few days, the attacker will activate other options.”

Alternate options include moving to Dortmund while staying at United for the rest of the season has also not been ruled out.

Ruben Amorim might not afford too many chances to Rashford should he stay and United would prefer an exit so that the player can regain his form and maximise his transfer value, all of which would constitute pure profit.

Marcus Rashford ‘shock u-turn’ as Man Utd employee not on strike

Marcus Rashford ‘shock u-turn’ as Man Utd employee not on strike

The big Marcus Rashford news is that he is not refusing to play for Manchester United, who pay him £300,000 a week.

                      Rash decision
Marcus Rashford’s camp have been busy briefing journalists that their man has been doing extra training sessions and is more than ready to play for Manchester United this Thursday and beyond after Ruben Amorim intimated it was the beleaguered forward’s ‘choice’ not to play for the club.

So the Daily Mail tell us that Rashford has ‘no issue’ with Ruben Amorim and he is ‘ready to give 100 per cent to the team’, which sounds suspiciously like a message to Barcelona and other suitors that he does not have an attitude problem.

The Guardian say he is ‘ready and available’ to play for the club that pays him £300,000 a week, so that’s a massive tick in his favour. So the big story is essentially that Rashford will not go on strike.

The Sun of course get it slightly arse about face and claim he has done a ‘dramatic u-turn – and now wants to play for stricken Manchester United’. We will patiently wait for somebody to point out exactly when and where Rashford said he would not play for United, stricken or otherwise. No? Nothing?

It’s really not that complex; Rashford would quite like to leave Manchester United but his wages are an issue. In the meantime, it is absolutely in his best interests to be available to play for the club that pays his those wages, if only to make him more attractive for a possible summer transfer.

There has been no ‘dramatic u-turn’, ‘remarkable u-turn’ (TEAMtalk) or ‘shock U-turn’ (Metro).

But there is so very many clicks to be mined from pretending that Rashford is on his way.

Goal tell us that ‘Marcus Rashford in line for shock Mason Greenwood reunion as Marseille make transfer approach for Man Utd outcast’.

‘In line’, you say. That is one hell of a leap from L’Equipe writing that ‘OM has also inquired with Manchester United for Marcus Rashford (27 years old, under contract until 2028), lacking playing time in the Premier League and one of the hottest files of the European transfer window’.

                      It’s practically nailed on.

In the Manchester Evening News, we get this belter: ‘Marcus Rashford Man United transfer in doubt as major medical update given.’

The implication – perfectly manufactured – is that Rashford has failed a medical. The truth? Rashford has not passed a medical, failed a medical or even taken a medical; the story here is that Kyle Walker will have a medical in Milan, thus putting an end to any faint rumours that Rashford might be Milan-bound.

We can obviously all agree that is a ‘major medical update’.

And presumably this ‘major medical update’ absolutely justifies the MEN headline of ‘Man United transfer news LIVE – Garnacho hint, Dorgu talks, Rashford medical’ that magically changes when you click through to the site…

                      Shaw thing
There are other potential exits from Manchester United too, with GiveMeSport claiming an exclusive that ‘Amorim ‘Could Sell’ £200,000-a-Week Man Utd Star in Summer’.

First, it’s an ‘exclusive’ guys; who are you quoting? Oh. Yourselves, is it? Fine.

Second, of course ‘Ruben Amorim has refused to rule out the possibility of offloading Luke Shaw in the summer’; it would be a bigger story if he was desperate to keep a player who has played 98 minutes of football all season and started just 12 Premier League games in 2023/24.

The real fun will be finding somebody to buy Shaw. Brace yourself for a ‘u-turn’ from all concerned when nobody steps forward to match his massive wages.

                      POUNDland
But obviously the really big story in football is that Pep Guardiola’s wife has ‘broken her silence’ following her split from the Manchester City boss. And how do we know she has ‘broken her silence’? Well, our friend Gerard Couzens has been earning a small fortune with updates for…

The Sun: ‘PEP GUARDIOLA’S wife has broken her silence following her split from the Manchester City manager to insist she’s “feeling great”. Cristina Serra looked a picture of happiness as she shopped alone in Barcelona a week after news of the couple’s shock break-up emerged.’

The Mirror: ‘Pep Guardiola’s wife has broken her silence following her shock split from the Manchester City manager – and insisted she’s “feeling great”. Cristina Serra looked a picture of happiness as she shopped alone in Barcelona a week after news of the couple’s shock break-up emerged.’

MailOnline: ‘Pep Guardiola’s wife has broken her silence following her split from the Manchester City manager to insist she’s ‘feeling great’. Cristina Serra looked a picture of happiness as she shopped alone in Barcelona a week after news of the couple’s shock break-up emerged.’

At least maybe tweak a few words, fella. Every kid who has ever copied homework knows you should at least mix up the adjectives.

But oddly enough, the ‘pretty brunette…refused to say why they broke up’ when approached on the street in public by a total stranger.

But obviously ‘Cristina’s first words about her feelings following the break-up showed her apparent determination to continue with her life as normal instead of holing up in the £8.4million home in the upmarket Barcelona neighbourhood of Pedralbes the couple purchased in 2021’.

Because that’s a normal sentence, made all the funnier because somebody at MailOnline did not quite catch that Couzens does not have a £ sign on his Spanish keyboard. Hence:

‘Cristina’s first words about her feelings following the break-up showed her apparent determination to continue with her life as normal instead of holing up in the POUNDS 8.4 million home in the upmarket Barcelona neighbourhood of Pedralbes the couple purchased in 2021.’

Couzens is earning the best POUNDS of his life.
