Manchester United got a first-hand look at Elliot Anderson’s abilities during the game against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, 17 May, at Old Trafford. While the West Bridgford side succumbed to a 3-2 defeat, the English midfielder stood out and left a lasting impression. Anderson won nine of his 15 duels, completed 71 of his 80 attempted passes with an 89% passing accuracy, and set up both of his team’s goals. He created two big chances, played three key passes, and attempted eight long passes, four of which were accurate. The 23 year old has been one of the finest midfielders in the Premier League this season and is already on the Red Devils’ radar ahead of the summer. United are looking for a replacement for Casemiro, who will leave at the end of the season as a free agent. The Red Devils are already eyeing several candidates to fill the Brazilian’s boots, and club legend Gary Neville has now given his thoughts on the matter. United need a younger version of Casemiro Speaking on The Gary Neville podcast after Sunday’s game, Neville insisted that his former club now need a younger version of Casemiro. He said: “Manchester United now need a 25 to 26-year-old version of Casemiro, but the problem is that it costs you £100m nowadays. His heading and aerial ability in both boxes will be very difficult to replace.” “Casemiro was signed in a panic after the Brentford defeat away from home. They overpaid and they overpaid on salary. Manchester United today in their current format and leadership won’t go and do another deal like that.” The former United skipper, however, was quick to praise the Brazilian for his recent efforts, adding: “In this last six months, he’s been exceptional in terms of getting Manchester United into the Champions League.” “They will miss him from a personality and character perspective, physicality, aerial presence and he’s good on the ball as well. Casemiro’s brought some value because he’s like a captain really. You don’t find many players like that.” Anderson perfect replacement for Casemiro Neville went on to explain why Anderson would be the perfect replacement for Casemiro, stating: “Manchester United need to look at players that are either very young and have a hunger to grow or Premier League-ready players and Elliot Anderson is that.” “What I like about Anderson is the fact that he looks forward and he contributes. The two crosses for the goals, were exceptional.” The former United skipper went on to state that Anderson’s ability to pick out forward passes makes him a good fit at Old Trafford, adding: “I see too many crabs playing central midfield. You can’t have too many people who play five-yard passes back and sideways. You need to put players in there who are going to look forward and punch passes through the lines and have their head up.” “Elliot Anderson can do that. He can take set-pieces. So for me, he would be an outstanding candidate to come here. But if you believe what you hear, Manchester City also want him, so if it’s a straight fight between the two Manchester clubs, it’ll be interesting to see who he chooses.” Elliot Anderson Stats: 2025/26 Season CompetitionAppearancesStartsGoalsAssistsYellow CardsRed CardsMinutes Played Premier League3736448-3,270′ UEFA Europa League128-131833′ Total4944451114,103′ Source: Transfermarkt. Offer submitted for “exceptional” United star who has enjoyed brilliant season – report
Manchester United could not keep a clean sheet in their 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest, but Senne Lammens still managed to impress. Lammens could do little about the two goals Forest scored, but the Belgian made a couple of good saves to ensure United picked up all three points in their last home game of the season. The 23-year-old, who moved to United from Royal Antwerp, has firmly established himself as the club’s number one goalkeeper following the loan exit of Andre Onana. Offer launched for Andre Onana It has previously been reported that Andre Onana was hopeful of returning to Manchester United to compete with Senne Lammens, but he is not in the club’s plans. The 30-year-old has enjoyed an encouraging campaign in Turkey with Trabzonspor, who are keen to extend his stay. According to HT Spor‘s Hasan Tüncel, who broke the story of Trabzonspor’s move for Onana last year, the Süper Lig outfit have now made offers to both United and the Cameroon goalkeeper ahead of the summer. However, it remains unclear whether the offer is regarding a permanent transfer or another loan deal. Recently, The Daily Mail suggested the most likely option at the moment is that Onana stays there on loan. Other clubs are also expected to show interest in Onana, who played a pivotal role in Inter Milan reaching the Champions League final in 2023. At the time, Pep Guardiola labelled him as an “exceptional” ball-playing goalkeeper. Similar concerns in Barcelona Marcus Rashford is another high-profile United loanee facing an uncertain future ahead of next season. Akin to Onana, Rashford has had a solid campaign away from United, having been directly involved in 28 goals for Barcelona across all competitions. However, Barcelona are reluctant to trigger the £26 million buy option to keep Rashford permanently at Camp Nou. It is believed the two clubs are set to reopen negotiations in hopes of finding a compromise. Controversial United Women legend on cusp of return to England with WSL side optimistic over deal – BBC

Former Manchester United Women goalkeeper Mary Earps could be about to return to English football. Earps’ United career The England goalkeeper had a very successful time at Manchester United. She helped the side win their only trophy to date, the FA Cup in 2024 at Wembley. Earps joined the club in 2019 and spent five seasons at the Leigh Sports Village. The goalkeeper played a total of 125 matches for the club and won the Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper award in 2022 and 2023 while representing United. Move to France Earps left United on a free transfer in the summer of 2024 and joined French side Paris Saint-Germain. She has played 22 times for the French side this season, conceding 18 goals. Earps has also kept an impressive 12 clean sheets for the Parisians. On the move The BBC report that Earps could well be on the move, with a return to England and the Women’s Super League back on the agenda. The news organisation reports that, “former England goalkeeper Mary Earps is edging closer to a return to the Women’s Super League, with London City Lionesses showing interest.” The article continues, “the 33-year-old was on the bench for Paris St-Germain in their 1-0 play-off semi-final defeat by Paris FC on Saturday, and is likely to leave the French club when her contract expires in June.” London City Lionesses have not yet agreed a deal with Earps but appear confident that they have the capability of doing so. Earps made a return to Old Trafford earlier this season when her Paris Saint-Germain side lost 2-1 to United in the Champions League phase in November. The former goalkeeper also caused controversy with the release of her book last November. Manchester United had two players in loan action on Sunday. To find out where all of Manchester United’s loanees are plying their trade this season, click here. Rasmus Hojlund The Dane helped Napoli secure a 3-0 away win over Pisa to consolidate their place in next season’s Champions League. Hojlund scored a goal and provided an assist as he also sealed his permanent switch to Italy. After officially claiming their spot in next season’s Champions League, Napoli were obligated to trigger their permanent move for Hojlund. He grabbed an assist in the 21st minute when he casually laid the ball off for Scott McTominay to sweep into the bottom corner in style. Hojlund then sealed a great performance with a goal in the 91st minute of the contest. The striker showed great instinct to twist his body to guide a fierce cross into the back of the net for the Southern Italians. He only completed six passes in the game, though, and no accurate crosses. The Dane also only won one of his four ground duels. Hojlund sent a farewell message to Manchester United fans after the game on social media to personally confirm his exit from the club. 100% aerials duels, 2 key passes, 89% pass accuracy: United star shows class in last Old Trafford display

Manchester United defeated Nottingham Forest to finish their home season in the best possible way. Pleasing farewell to Old Trafford for 2025/2026 The 3-2 win saw Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha join fellow new signing Benjamin Sesko on 10 Premier League goals for the season. Bruno Fernandes also equalled the Premier League record of 20 assists in a season and has one game against Brighton and Hove Albion to break it next Sunday. Casemiro Brazil midfielder Casemiro also said goodbye to Old Trafford when he was substituted off after 81 minutes. The Stretford End unveiled a dedicated banner to acknowledge Casemiro before the game, and the fans regularly sang his song throughout the match. The midfielder played two key passes in an overall very attacking display from the Red Devils, who had a total of 29 shots on goal. He also completed 89% of his passes in an impressive effort. Casemiro had three shots on goal, two of which were blocked. He almost got the perfect send-off when his poked effort almost found the back of the net in the first half but unfortunately dribbled just wide of the post. The former Real Madrid man did win 100% of his aerial duels but was only able to win three of his eight ground contests. It was not a perfect session for him, though, as he failed to complete any crosses, win any tackles, and was dribbled past three times. He also made an error which led to a shot at goal but luckily it did not end up in a Forest goal. Next step Casemiro is likely to play his last game on Sunday against Brighton and will then go to the World Cup with Brazil before entering free agency. He has been heavily linked with a move to join Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in the United States, and Manchester United fans will surely track his next move with interest. United hold secret meeting with PL side over summer transfers, three of their stars are on INEOS’ radar – report

Manchester United won their final home Premier League game of the season over Nottingham Forest 3-2 on Sunday. One last away game against Brighton remains for Michael Carrick‘s team , and after that, the focus will shift to preparing for the next campaign. As reported by CentreDevils, INEOS have already got in on the act, opening discussions with a Premier League side who boast three stars wanted by the Red Devils. “This summer will therefore offer Carrick his first opportunity to work with the recruitment team to sign players that could improve the squad ahead of the new season. United meet with Bournemouth over potential summer transfers “CentreDevils can now exclusively reveal details about conversations between Manchester United and representatives from Bournemouth relating to player transfers. “We understand that the two parties have held preliminary talks about the possibility of The Red Devils signing players from the South West club. We do understand that these talks happened within the last week.” Bournemouth are on course to play in Europe for the first time in their history, and three of their stars have enjoyed fantastic campaigns. As a result, United are interested. Two midfielders, Alex Scott and Tyler Adams, are on United’s radar, as well as red-hot forward Eli Junior Kroupi. Three Bournemouth stars wanted by United The 20-time English league champions are looking to add as many as three midfielders, and both Scott and Adams have enjoyed fine campaigns. The Englishman can play both as a No.8 and defensive midfielder and has quite an eye for goal. The American, on the other hand, is more experienced and solely a defensive midfielder. As for Kroupi, his price has skyrocketed as a result of his heroics in his debut campaign in the English top flight, which might make him too expensive for United at present. However, a future move cannot be ruled out. Marcos Senesi is another Cherries ace admired by INEOS. However, since he is soon to become a free agent, no club-to-club talks are needed to sign the Argentine. INEOS planning ahead It is heartening to see United preparing the groundwork to go ahead and complete deals as quickly as possible, instead of waiting till deadline day. Whether the Old Trafford side sign any Bournemouth players this summer remains to be seen.
