“Significant potential”: Serial winner lauds on loan star, hints United were the problem

Rasmus Hojlund has enjoyed a successful start to life on loan at SSC Napoli from Manchester United.

Strong start

The Danish international has scored three goals in five appearances for the Serie A side.

This included an opening goal on debut versus David de Gea’s Fiorentina.

Hojlund was in spectacular form during midweek when he bagged a Champions League brace against Sporting CP with two classic number nine goals.

His new teammate Kevin De Bruyne, who assisted both his goals on Wednesday claimed, that Hojlund reminds him of his former partner in crime, Erling Haaland.

The Italian media also lapped up Hojlund’s contribution labelling him a “sniper” and commenting on his strong goalscoring record in Europe.

Antonio Conte impressed

The Italian manager in charge at Napoli has also been impressed by his new striker’s form.

Commenting after the match, Conte is quoted by getfootballnewsitaly.com as stating, “Rasmus is a 22-year-old player with significant potential. We’ll let him find it because he’s a serious player.”

The former Chelsea manager also suggested that Hojlund is far from the finished player but that he still has “significant room to grow” as a player.

Conte also added that he feels the forward is already improving his game and opined that “he’s starting to understand the right positioning, how to attack the depth.”

The Serie A winning head coach also claimed that is side were missing their “great asset” Romelu Lukaku, who is currently out injured, but hinted that Hojlund is helping with that loss.

The Danish international will look to add to his goalscoring record this weekend when Napoli host Genoa on Sunday evening.
