Fabrizio Romano delivers great news regarding United’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen, fans will be overjoyed

Manchester United’s top priority in the summer will be to recruit a ruthless finisher, given Rasmus Hojlund’s struggles this season.

While Liam Delap seems to be the favourite to arrive at Old Trafford, plenty have opined that the Red Devils need more than potential at this stage and should be trying to land the finished article.

Victor Osimhen fits the bill perfectly, with the Nigerian netting 31 goals and registering eight assists in 36 games for loan club Galatasaray, with a goal involvement every 72 minutes.

His parent club Napoli are even open to offering the 20-time English league champions a discount in order thwart domestic rivals Juventus in their bid to land the ex-Lille hotshot.

Osimhen’s wage demands revealed

However, as recently relayed by The Peoples Person, INEOS are reluctant to pay the 26-year-old around £300,000-per-week to sign on the dotted lines as they are looking to trim United’s bloated wage bill.

Which is why Osimhen’s camp was reportedly looking at a Saudi Pro League move with Al-Hilal among the clubs willing to pay him big money to join.

But Fabrizio Romano has now indicated to Givemesport that these reports are wide of the mark and that the Napoli ace is willing to accept just under £200,000-per-week.

Given Mason Mount earns £250,000-per-week (via capology), the new co-owners ideally should not have any problem in matching Osimhen’s demands.

United should have no problem paying that

“He just wants his current salary (around €12m net, £10.2m per season) to be respected, nothing different. Same as one year ago.”

Apart from the Nigerian ace, Amorim would also love a reunion with his Sporting CP protege Viktor Gyokeres and reports have indicated a move is back on.

All United have to do is win the Europa League but the head coach is not too pleased with the Swede’s demands and it remains to be seen if United can get past Athletic Club in the semi-finals.

Other striker targets include Patrik Schick, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Dusan Vlahovic just to name a few. All eyes on INEOS and who they ultimately sign.
