Manchester United are preparing to welcome their first signing of the Michael Carrick era, having all but wrapped up the signing of Ederson. Last week, Fabrizio Romano claimed that Ederson had undergone “unofficial” medical ahead of a move to United. However, the Italian journalist suggested that the Atalanta man still needs to undergo formal medical tests in Manchester and put pen to paper on his contract with the Red Devils. The initial plan was for Ederson to fly to England after his holidays. However, a new development in Brazil will force United to change their plans. Manchester United to meet Atalanta on Tuesday Brazilian midfield dynamo Ederson has received a late call-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad following an injury to Wesley. Meanwhile, Manchester United continue to work behind the scenes to finalise the finer details of his move. According to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola (via Sport Witness), Atalanta and Manchester United have scheduled a decisive meeting for Tuesday. It is understood that meeting should settle the final details of the operation. The journalist also spoke to André Cury, Ederson’s representative. Cury allegedly told him everything is already agreed in principle between the clubs. Only small details remain and those are expected to be sorted by Tuesday, allowing Ederson to become a Red Devil. Details of Manchester United’s deal for Ederson It is believed United have agreed a deal worth up to €48m (£40.5m) with Atalanta for the 26-year-old combative midfielder, who moved to Bergamo from Salernitana in 2022. Ederson’s former manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, once insisted the player is destined for the top, stating: “In terms of physicality, regains and the timing of his runs, Ederson is definitely an extraordinary player, one cut out for teams at the very highest level.” The Guardian claims United will pay the Brazil international approximately £70,000 a week at Old Trafford. United optimistic of beating City to Anderson deal, contract terms already decided – The Guardian
Manchester United are reportedly growing more optimistic about their chances of beating cross-town rivals Manchester City to the signature of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. Anderson chase Heading into the summer transfer window, bolstering the midfield is believed to be United’s top priority. Already, United have secured the services of Ederson, having struck an agreement with Atalanta for £34m (€40.5m) plus £3.8m (€4.5m) in potential add-ons. Ederson was expected to seal his move to United early next month but the date to officially get it over the line has now been pushed back by a few more weeks due to his shock late call-up to Brazil’s World Cup squad after Wesley sustained an injury in the camp. Anderson is believed to be United’s top target after another sensational season at Forest, despite the side battling relegation for most of the campaign. But City are widely seen as favourites to land Anderson. There have also been suggestions that the Etihad is his preferred destination, although United remain hopeful that they can lure him to the red side of the city. Last week, City had an opening bid of £80m for Anderson rejected by Forest, who are said to be holding out for around £120m. Earlier today, Fabrizio Romano reiterated that City are the clear frontrunners to win the race for Anderson. However, according to The Guardian, United are optimistic that they will ultimately usurp City for Anderson. The newspaper has also hinted at the amount of money the England international stands to net at either club. Anderson update Jamie Jackson of The Guardian writes, “Manchester United remain intent on signing Elliot Anderson, with the club’s executives optimistic they can beat Manchester City in the race to acquire the 23-year-old midfielder, who is valued at about £100m by Nottingham Forest.” “United believe he can be persuaded to move to Old Trafford.” Anderson currently earns around £100,000-a-week at Forest and Jackson states that he is guaranteed at least a 50% pay rise if he joins either United or City. While United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains determined to trim the wage bill, he is prepared to meet Anderson’s wage demands. Another option on the table for United is West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes. West Ham are demanding £80m for the Portugal international but there is little chance of them receiving such an offer following their relegation to the Championship. United running out of time to strike deal for PL talisman Wilcox is “dreaming” of signing – Fabrizio Romano

Manchester United are running out of time to launch a hijack of Manchester City’s pursuit of Elliot Anderson, according to the latest update from Fabrizio Romano. Making a Serious Play The Red Devils are intent on signing an elite No. 6 to replace the departing Casemiro, whose contract expires this month and who is close to joining Inter Miami. Anderson is the primary target to take the reins from the 34-year-old Brazilian, having established himself as one of the best young midfielders in Europe since arriving at the City Ground in 2023. The Whitley Bay native possesses a unique skillset with virtually no weaknesses and is capable of dominating matches across all phases of play. While some of the other options on United’s radar are strong out of possession, such as Carlos Baleba, or offer excellent playmaking abilities like Adam Wharton, Anderson does both. The Forest talisman, primed to play a key role for England at the World Cup this summer, is outstanding on and off the ball and ranks highly across virtually every metric by which a midfielder is judged. When combined with his age, homegrown status, strong work ethic and personality — having taken on a leadership role in Forest’s dressing room this season — it is clear why virtually every top club in England has expressed interest. Personal terms are understood to have been agreed, leaving just a club-to-club agreement with Forest left to find. Running Out of Time United are refusing to give up hope, however, as INEOS intend to make a “serious play” to lure him to M16. Sporting director Jason Wilcox is said to be obsessed with the idea of Anderson becoming a Red Devil. Manchester City have already seen one formal offer rejected by Forest, who are holding out for a fee in excess of £100 million for their prized asset. Moises Caicedo’s £115 million switch from Brighton to Chelsea is seen as a benchmark. Now, Romano reveals, the Citizens are “preparing a new official bid” as they are “ready to go all in” to strike a deal. There is said to be growing confidence at the Etihad that an agreement is close. The Italian transfer expert confirms United’s hierarchy are still “dreaming” of signing Anderson, but concludes it is the noisy neighbours who are “leading the race”. Interestingly, were City to fail to agree terms with Forest, they would pivot towards Tonali – another top target at Old Trafford. Anderson is currently in the United States with the England squad preparing for the World Cup opener against Croatia next week. Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed members of his squad will be free to complete medicals should transfers between clubs be struck in England. Final Thoughts The window for United to make their “serious play” is rapidly narrowing, with a sense that a deal could be completed this week if City stump up the cash. There are few players in Europe who have the requisite skillset to succeed Casemiro, and virtually none who are not already plying their trade for a top club – but Anderson is a unicorn amid a stable of donkeys. Scarcity drives demand; demand drives price. United must act now and pay the piper, or forever hold their peace. United scouts blown away by 20yo Italian sniper, a swap deal could be INEOS’ best shot at winning transfer race – report

Considering Manchester United will be competing on four fronts next season, the squad will need to cope with three matches in a single week. For that, INEOS need to add depth to the squad with the attack, in particular, needing more quality. Currently, Michael Carrick only has Benjamin Sesko as an out-and-out striker. The Slovenian enjoyed a terrific debut season since the head coach took charge, but it would be a mistake to place the entire burden of scoring goals on the 23-year-old. His backup, Joshua Zirkzee, is not a reliable goalscorer, and while the Dutchman would love to stay, INEOS are keen to cut their losses. United scouts blown away by Pio Esposito The co-owners are looking to add another proven goalscorer to their ranks, and Teamtalk have revealed that club scouts have been blown away by Inter Milan striker Pio Esposito. They were in attendance to watch the 20-year-old in action for his country, as he netted against both Luxembourg and Greece with Italy claiming victories in each friendly. Scouts feel that, despite his young age, Pio Esposito is ready to make a step up in his career. His form for the Nerazzurri last season was equally impressive, as the striker netted 10 times in all competitions while registering six assists. Will not be easy to sign him Naturally, that has meant plenty of English clubs are interested, and United will not have it easy to acquire his services. “Manchester United were among the clubs represented in Greece on Sunday as they continued their assessment of highly-rated Inter Milan striker Pio Esposito, TEAMtalk can reveal. “The 20-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign for the Nerazzurri, notching 10 goals and six assists this season, and is rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting young forwards in European football. “Esposito’s performances have not gone unnoticed, and TEAMtalk understands the Italian international is attracting attention from across the Premier League, with Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea’s ownership group, BlueCo, all having monitored his development closely over the past 12 months. Swap deal opportunity opening up “Sources have told TEAMtalk that Man Utd scouts were present for Italy’s recent fixtures against Luxembourg and Greece, with Esposito starting both matches and finding the net in each. “The young striker’s displays only strengthened the belief among Man Utd’s recruitment staff that he possesses the attributes to develop into a top-level centre-forward.” There is one way the 20-time English league champions could potentially get ahead of the competition for the Italian’s services. Inter are interested in Zirkzee, and that could open up the possibility of a swap deal. The Inter striker is aware of the interest he is generating, but whether he will leave remains to be seen. His current deal is valid until 2030, and the Serie A giants see him as the cornerstone of their project, which makes it even more difficult for United. United don’t want 21-yo West Ham star, working on agreeing massive deal for his teammate instead – report

Manchester United are pushing to finalise multiple deals before the summer transfer window even opens. According to Fabrizio Romano, United and Atalanta have “completed all documents” to seal a deal worth €45m for Brazilian midfielder Ederson. Now, it has emerged that United have opened talks with West Ham United to find an agreement for their £80m-rated playmaker, Mateus Fernandes, who wants to move to Old Trafford. Manchester United not chasing El Hadji Malick Diouf In recent weeks, Manchester United have also been linked with West Ham’s El Hadji Malick Diouf. It has been widely reported that United are looking at the left side of their team during this window, but full-back seems the likeliest spot for an arrival amid concerns over Luke Shaw’s fitness. In that regard, Diouf could prove to be a shrewd acquisition. The 21-year-old left-back has impressed with his athleticism, attacking intent, and swerving crosses in his maiden season in the Premier League. With the Hammers desperate for sales, Diouf, who moved to London from Slavia Prague, might be available for a reasonable fee. However, according to club insider Sully, “reports that United are interested in full-back El Hadji Diouf are wide of the mark.” Have heard we have had talks w West Ham regarding Mateus Fernandes. Also reports on Diouf at the moment are wide of the mark. More information in the article w @SullyTalkz https://t.co/lRgIk1Sxw4 — Nad (@UtdNadd) June 8, 2026 Manchester United keen on Lewis Hall It seems Jason Wilcox and company are focused on Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall to strengthen the left flank. However, Newcastle are reluctant to part ways with the Englishman. Furthermore, following the sale of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona, they are no longer scrambling to raise funds through sales. It has been previously alleged that it would take an offer of around £70m to convince Newcastle to sanction Hall’s exit. In the event the Magpies refuse to budge on their valuation of Hall, United should definitely explore the possibility of signing Diouf from the relegated east London outfit. United strike gold in hunt for Zirkzee upgrade, unstoppable La Liga hitman now “prioritising” PL move – opinion

Despite spending big on a striker last summer, there is talk of Manchester United signing another one this summer. Joshua Zirkzee, who has not fully established himself at Old Trafford, is tipped to leave, with Serie A sides eager to land his services. Should the Dutch striker finally leave, INEOS would have little choice but to find his replacement. One suggestion is that the 20-time English champions could move for an experienced striker, with Robert Lewandowski and Danny Welbeck both linked. The idea is that alongside these strikers, Benjamin Sesko would not only share the striking workload but also benefit from their mentorship. While that route makes perfect sense, it would be wise for United to remain open to unmissable transfer opportunities such as the one Karl Etta Eyong is presenting them. In the first half of the season, United were heavily linked with the Levante striker. At the time, it was a straight race between United and Barcelona to land the clinical, physically robust, and tactically versatile 22-year-old. Barcelona, however, appear to have since dropped out of the race, and there was subsequently talk of CSKA Moscow attempting to sign him last January. While Levante accepted the Russian side’s offer and were ready to strike a deal, Eyong rejected the move. That decision cost him his place in the team. He barely featured in the second half of the season, mostly used from the bench, a situation that held him back considerably, with just one league goal to his name since the turn of the year. Eyong pushing hard for Premier League switch Eyong cannot continue at Levante, and with what Ben Jacobs is reporting, it appears he will not: “Etta Eyong is now prioritising a move to England. Two Premier League clubs have made approaches to Levante. “There is also active interest from Turkey. “Levante want €30m+ for Eyong and accepted an offer from CSKA in January. Eyong did not want to join.” That update presents an interesting transfer opportunity that United cannot afford to ignore. In fact, hopefully, they are one of the two English sides pursuing him. Eyong the perfect Zirkzee upgrade Eyong is a fine natural striker who looks built for the Premier League. An explosive, instinctual forward who relies on rapid acceleration to get in behind defensive lines, combined with lethal finishing and smart movement inside the penalty box, he could prove a real handful for Premier League defenders. It is also easy to attribute his struggles in the second half of the season to the difficult position he found himself in after snubbing a winter exit. United should take a chance on him. He could be the perfect rotation option alongside Sesko, and be everything Zirkzee should have been in a United shirt. A Zirkzee Serie A switch could realistically fetch INEOS upwards of £24 million. That money could then be channelled straight into signing Eyong, and together with Sesko, INEOS would have secured United’s attack for years to come.
