Manchester United enjoyed a goalfest at Molineux Stadium, winning 4-1 against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount and Bryan Mbeumo all got on the scoresheet on Monday night, taking full advantage of the 20th-placed side’s shaky defending. But it was a frustrating return to the Midlands for Matheus Cunha, who lacked incisiveness around the goalmouth. Cunha scored 15 times in the Premier League for Wolves last season, but he has just one goal to his name at United. If the Brazilian left winger continues to underwhelm, United might be compelled to bring in another left-sided attacker to strengthen their ranks. Manchester United planning to use Marcus Rashford in swap deal Before Amorim arrived, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho competed for the starting spot out on the left at Old Trafford. However, the pair fell out with the Portuguese. The Red Devils sent Garnacho to Chelsea in a permanent deal. Rashford, meanwhile, was loaned out to Barcelona. The La Liga giants do have an option to buy the Englishman but their transfer strategy remains uncertain. The England international is thriving at Barca, leading to long-term admirers Paris Saint-Germain reigniting their interest in his services. According to Fichajes, United are considering using Rashford to secure the signature of a PSG left winger. Man United want Bradley Barcola The Spanish outlet claim United are interested in Bradley Barcola and are “seriously” planning to sign him next summer. The 23-year-old Frenchman is known for his dazzling dribbling, lightning-fast feet, and versatility. His profile fits perfectly with the Premier League giants’ emphasis on young and dynamic players. It is understood United are considering a swap deal involving Barcola and Rashford. The France international has 31 goals and 33 assists to his name in 121 appearances for PSG. However, he has struggled for regular starts following the arrival of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Further, negotiations to renew the €70m-rated forward’s contract at PSG have allegedly stalled. Accordingly, United are looking to capitalise on Barcola’s situation. INEOS will need to find a replacement in this key position after a mere six months of making a change – report
Manchester United are set for another change behind-the-scenes as per the latest reports. Jonny Evans, who hung up his boots at the end of last season, was named Head of Loans and Pathways. He was tasked with finding temporary homes for Carrington wonderkids. “I am looking forward to working with the next generation of talented players to support them to reach their potential. “Having had experience of loans myself, I know the crucial role that they can play within a player’s development. I am excited to help further develop the pathway to our first team and continue the legacy of young players thriving at Manchester United,” he had said after being given the position. Crucial role The role is a crucial one, as the head decides which young stars are in need of a move away, and monitoring their progress when they are away from the club. However, as per Training Ground Guru, the Northern Irishman is all set to depart from his role after six months as he wants to spend more time with his family. The 37-year-old will decide his future course of action after the break. As for the Red Devils, they will now begin the hunt for a replacement. “Jonny Evans has stepped down from his role as Head of Loans and Pathways at Manchester United after six months. “The 37-year-old took on the pivotal role at the end of June after retiring from playing. Jonny Evans resigns “However, he has now decided to take the opportunity to spend more time with his family and will take a break before deciding what to do next. “His departure is amicable and United will now begin the process of looking for a replacement, TGG understands.” After playing at the top level for 20 years and making 536 senior appearances, serving five different clubs, nobody can begrudge him for wanting to take time off. The Carrington graduate played 241 times for the 20-time English league champions across two stints, winning the Champions League, three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and two League Cups. United star joins exclusive club after dazzling display versus Wolves
Manchester United came away from Molineux yesterday with an impressive 4-1 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Red Devils took the lead but managed to allow an equaliser just before half-time. Three unanswered second-half goals gave United the victory, which saw them move up to sixth in the table. Star of the show United had numerous impressive performances on the night, including Mason Mount. Nonetheless, it was their captain, Bruno Fernandes, who stole the spotlight with two goals and an assist. The Portuguese midfielder followed up a strong month in November, during which he was nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award. Impressive statistic Fernandes’ evening was even more impressive as he joined rare company in Premier League history. TalkSPORT report that, “the Portugal international became just the fifth player ever in the Premier League to assist a goal in five consecutive away matches.” Fernandes’ streak began in the away victory at Liverpool, when he crossed for Harry Maguire to head home the winner in front of a stunned Anfield crowd. He also set up Casemiro against Nottingham Forest and Matthijs de Ligt for a late equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur. Fernandes also created Mason Mount’s goal away to Crystal Palace and, of course, provided a delicious cross for the Englishman last night. The only other Premier League players to assist in five consecutive league games are Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Gerard Deulofeu for Everton in 2015, Cesc Fabregas for Chelsea in 2014/2015, and Muzzy Izzet for Leicester City in 2003. He will have a chance to register an assist in six consecutive away games when United travel to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa on Sunday, 21st December. Fernandes is now the Premier League’s top assist maker for this season, and only Michael Olise and Lamine Yamal have created more goals this season in the European Assist rankings. “I’ve had to be patient”: United star reveals how he feels after finally earning Amorim’s trust
Manchester United turned up the heat in the second half to thrash Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 at the Molineux on Monday. The win catapulted the Red Devils to sixth in the Premier League, within touching distance of the Champions League places. The visitors did take the lead through Bruno Fernandes, but the hosts equalised on the stroke of half-time, their first league goal since October. But Ruben Amorim’s half-time pep talk did the trick, as the away team scored three times in the space of 30 minutes through Bryan Mbeumo, Mason Mount, and another strike from the skipper to ease past the bottom team in the English top-flight. Ayden Heaven has had to bide his time The win was never guaranteed given the team’s recent form, and the fact that the head coach was missing several key stars due to injury. Matthijs de Ligt did not recover from his knock, as Amorim had hoped for, and there was yet another start for Ayden Heaven at the heart of the back three. Against West Ham United, the 19-year-old lasted only 45 minutes before he was taken off. There has already been rumours of the 20-time English league champions being open to loaning him out in January. And with Leny Yoro waiting in the wings, plenty would have wanted the ex-Sporting CP boss to turn to the Frenchman instead. However, Amorim kept faith in the former Arsenal academy graduate, who put in a much improved display against Wolves. This was only the England U20 international’s third start of the campaign, and he was grateful for Amorim’s trust under trying circumstances. He told MUTV after the game, “I’ve had to be patient and I feel the manager trusts me more now. Whenever I’m playing, I’m doing better each time. I want to keep developing and show what I can do. “There’s nothing better than winning. The win means we are going up, near the top. It is a great feeling.” The team purred in the second half Following a drab first half and the poor recent results, the Red Devils needed a solid response. And as per the left-footed defender, not only did the team respond, they also did it in style with a scintillating second-half display. “We needed a reaction given we dropped points in the previous game. We did that today and I’m really proud of the team’s performance. “I feel great. It’s good to get another win. We’re going to take this confidence into the coming games. When we play like this, not many teams can beat us.” Hopefully, Ayden Heaven can keep this form up amid no update on De Ligt from Amorim. If he continues to take his opportunities, it might become difficult to dislodge him from the starting XI. Video: Garnacho gives blunt one-word response when asked if he regrets controversial United exit
Chelsea star Alejandro Garnacho made his feelings perfectly clear when questioned about whether he regrets how his Manchester United exit occurred. Garnacho’s acrimonious United departure Having joined United from Atlético Madrid in 2020, Garnacho wasted no time establishing himself as one of the brightest talents to emerge from the club’s famed academy. He earned praise for his explosive pace and flair-filled style of play. The Argentine finally made his senior United debut in April 2022 during a 1-1 draw with Chelsea. Garnacho would go on to establish himself as a key first-team player under Erik ten Hag. Over three full seasons, he helped the Red Devils win the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, scoring in the final for the latter against Manchester City at Wembley. However, his United career ended in controversial circumstances amid tensions with current boss Ruben Amorim. Angered by Amorim’s decision to name him on the bench for last season’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Garnacho publicly slammed the manager. Amorim responded by telling the forward to look for a new club as his services were no longer needed at Old Trafford. Garnacho was part of the infamous ‘bomb squad’ before a £40million move to Chelsea got over the line. He has turned out 14 times for the Blues across all competitions, contributing two goals and as many assists. He spoke to the media ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League meeting with Atalanta and was asked about how he left United. Garnacho speaks on United exit Asked if he had any regrets how it ended, he bluntly replied, “No.” Pushed on if he was sad about the separation, he answered again, “No.” 🚨🙅🏼♂️ Any regrets on Man United? Alejandro Garnacho: “No”.@BeanymanSports 🎥 pic.twitter.com/WVG9lUkG7n — Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) December 8, 2025 He added, “I came here to play my football and show people the player I am.” “Sometimes in life, you have to change things to take a step forward or to improve as a player. I think it was the right moment and the right club. So it was an easy decision.” “I wanted to stay in the Premier League because I think it’s the best league in the world. I spoke with the manager (Enzo Maresca) before I came here and he explained to me the project, he convinced me and I’m really happy to be here.” “He explained to me everything and now working together, we are doing well. We are going to improve with time, it’s just three months together, and he trusts me and that is the most important thing for confidence, and I want to improve.” Garnacho made 144 appearances for United. PL star delivers his honest take on Mainoo after fresh Amorim snub in win vs. Wolves
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has given his verdict on Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo after he was left out of the starting XI yet again by Ruben Amorim for Monday’s meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers. Mainoo’s woes Mainoo has yet to start a Premier League game this season, with the player seemingly not featuring highly in Amorim’s plans. The Carrington academy graduate asked to leave United on loan during the transfer window – a request that was rejected. Mainoo’s situation hasn’t improved since then and rumours are rife that a January exit is firmly on the cards. He continues to be linked to the likes of Napoli, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Barcelona. Mainoo was unsurprisingly named on the bench for Monday’s 4-1 victory over Wolves. Before the contest, Amorim made it clear that he would only start the 20-year-old if he truly believed he was the right man to go out and win the game. These comments sparked a harsh response from club legend Paul Scholes. When Mainoo was introduced at Molineux, he was greeted with a huge roar from the travelling United fans, who made their feelings about his situation known. He enjoyed a positive cameo, completing more passes (12/13) and winning more fouls (2) than any other midfielder during the brief period he was on the pitch. Kobbie Mainoo completed more passes (12/13) and won more fouls (2) than any other midfielder on the pitch during his appearance vs. Wolves. A fantastic reception. 👏 pic.twitter.com/afC6Y20rHP — Statman Dave (@StatmanDave) December 8, 2025 Speaking on Sky Sports, Maddison backed Mainoo to rediscover his form and get his career back on track. Maddison issues Mainoo verdict Asked whether Mainoo still has a bright future, Maddison said [as quoted by the Manchester Evening News], “Yeah, definitely. It wasn’t that long ago he was starting in the Euros for England.” “I remember Kobbie’s first start for England was a game I came on as a sub in and I was very impressed with how composed he was and the occasion just didn’t get to him at all.” Maddison continued, “He is good on the ball and calm. A player with that much quality and assurance on the ball.” “I don’t see any way how he doesn’t get back to a really high level.” United currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League table, level on points with Chelsea in fifth and just one point adrift of Crystal Palace in the final guaranteed Champions League spot. “That’s what we can do”: United hero opens up on what the team did brilliantly in the second half vs Wolves
Manchester United rode on a superlative second-half showing to dismantle Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux on Monday to climb to sixth in the Premier League table. The visitors did take the lead in the first half through a scrappy Bruno Fernandes effort, but were pulled back when the home side equalised on the stroke of half-time. Ruben Amorim must have gone berserk at his players during the break, and that certainly fired up his stars as they came out with purpose in the second half. Bryan Mbeumo rediscovered his scoring touch soon after, before a brilliant volley from Mason Mount made it three for the away side. The skipper then rounded off the scoring from the spot. Scintillating stuff at times as per Mason Mount Apart from the goals, some of the link-up play, especially between the Englishman and the club captain was delightful to watch. The former Chelsea ace alluded to the same in his post-match interview. “I thought some of the combinations going forward were crisp, were sharp and that’s what we can do,” he said. “We know we can do that. It’s about us creating as many chance as we can as forward players and trying to get on the scoresheet. “I thought going forward we were solid, and as a defence it’s about defending as a team and not letting them have any chances to get back into the game.” Considering recent results, a win against bottom-of-the-barrel Wolves was far from guaranteed. And that certainly looked to be the case at the end of the first half. Amorim’s words made an impact Amorim’s words did make an impact, as per the England international. “It was an important win for us. Obviously, [in the] first half we let them back in it before halftime and we go into the changing room frustrated and disappointed with the end to the first half. “The manager had a few things to say and we come out there and it was down to us to attack with purpose and finish our chances we were creating. “We’re happy with the second half, parts of the first half as well. Overall, very happy with that.” The 20-time English league champions cannot afford to relax, with their next game against bogey-side Bournemouth next Monday. With AFCON departures looming it will be a tough fixture to crack. 3 chances created, 4 shots on target, 4 final third-passes: United star overcame shaky start to rock Wolves in the second half
A superb second-half showing saw Manchester United destroy bottom-of-the-barrel Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 at the Molineux on Monday. It was the visitors who took the lead through Bruno Fernandes, but their joy did not last long as the home side equalised right at the stroke of half-time. Ruben Amorim’s half time team talk seemed to have fired up the Red Devils, who emerged full of purpose in the second half. It did not take them long to retake the lead as Bryan Mbeumo returned to scoring ways. Goals from Mason Mount, and a penalty from the skipper made matters sure, as the away side climbed to sixth in the Premier League table. Bryan Mbeumo looked low on confidence in the past couple of games The Cameroonian, who had scored five times while providing one assist in the first 11 league games, had gone three games without a goal contribution following the November international break. He started slowly against Wolves as well, frequently getting caught out with the ball while generally looking short on confidence. StatNumber Total touches69 Defensive contributions10 Touches in opposition box5 Passes into the final third4 Shots4 Shots on target4 Chances created3 Goals1 stats via Statman Dave But the head coach’s pep talk must have worked on the ex-Brentford ace, as he looked much more up for the fight in the second 45 minutes. Apart from the goal, he also contributed three key passes, while also completed four passes into the final third. He had a total of four shots in the game, with all of them making the keeper work. Rediscovered his scoring boots The Cameroon international received the ball five times in the opposition’s penalty box, and he successfully dribbled past his man once. The 26-year-old worked his socks off defensively as well, making a total of 10 defensive contributions. He completed three tackles, while also recovering the ball seven times. The United No.19 won six of his duels (all stats via fotmob), and his return to goalscoring ways will please Amorim ahead of the key contest against Bournemouth on Monday. The 20-time English league champions will certainly miss his goals and his link-up with Amad when the duo leave for AFCON sometime next week. 3 fouls won, 96% passing, 100% long balls: United’s whirlwind wideman too much for Wolves
Manchester United waltzed past Wolverhampton Wanderers to get back to winning ways. The Red Devils trotted out 4-1 winners at Molyneux, where they showed what they were capable of in a strong performance against dismal opposition. Mount on the scoresheet Ruben Amorim will be frustrated at the goal his side shipped in the last seconds of the first half which brought the hosts level, but has to be happy with the overall scoreline as United went about improving their goal difference. Bruno Fernandes bagged a brace and Bryan Mbeumo was on target once again but the best goal of the night came from Mason Mount, who had one of his best performances for United. Lining up on the left, the attacking midfielder made it 3-1 with a sweet volley from a Fernandes cross. The Englishman also saw two shots blocked. Pinpoint passing Mount’s performance caught the eye and he was awarded Player of the Match by Sky Sports, and some of his stats were seriously impressive. The 26-year-old recorded 96% passing accuracy, finding his man with 26 of his attempted 27 passes, although that’s fewer than half of the number made by Fernandes. He didn’t manage a key pass but was on target with both of the long balls he attempted. Mount only lost possession seven times, the least of any starting United attacker. Mount was also willing – if not always successful – in the duel. He contested 14 in total, but only came out on top three times. He also failed with both attempted dribbles but was United’s most-fouled man, showing that he caused the home defenders a headache.
