Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall as they look to reinforce the left-back position before the start of the new season. The Red Devils are in the market for a new full-back after parting ways with Tyrell Malacia, who departs as a free agent. Luke Shaw is the preferred choice for the left-back position at Old Trafford, but his contract expires at the end of next season. The Englishman, meanwhile, will turn 31 next month and the Premier League giants have to consider succession plans. United are expected to put all their efforts into upgrading their midfield before the start of the new season. INEOS have reportedly secured the signature of Atalanta’s Ederson, although further additions are expected before the end of the summer. However, the left-back situation could also tempt the Red Devils to allocate some resources to strengthen the position. A previous report relayed by The Peoples Person has suggested that Hall has been identified as an answer to United’s woes. A long-term replacement for Shaw Shaw is coming off an impressive campaign, during which he started every Premier League game. He initially operated as the left-sided centre-back under former head coach Ruben Amorim before being reinstated in the left-back position by Michael Carrick. However, with United set to fight on four fronts next season after qualifying for the Champions League, the Englishman’s position has now come under scrutiny. Hall is proven in the Premier League and fits the age profile recently targeted by INEOS. The 21 year old registered one goal and two assists in 47 appearances across all competitions in the 2025/26 season and is under contract until 2029. Hall spent part of his formative years operating as a midfielder and is extremely comfortable on the ball. He is blessed with pace and attacking eagerness, but does not shy away from defensive responsibilities. A previous report relayed by The Peoples Person states that Jason Wilcox is a fan of the Englishman, who is open to a move to the Theatre of Dreams. An update on the situation has now arrived from acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano. United in talks for Hall Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said that United have been in contact with Hall’s representatives in the past two to three days. He said: “Over the last two-three days, Man Utd have maintained active contact with those close to Lewis Hall.” “They have a genuine interest in the player. Left-back remains a position they want to cover, and Hall is a player they really, really love at United.” However, the Italian journalist warned that prising the Englishman away from St James’ Park will not be easy, especially if Sandro Tonali also ends up leaving. He added: “Then this depends on Newcastle’s stance on Sandro Tonali. Selling Hall after already selling Gordon and Tonali could be too much, so it could become a difficult deal to make.” The Red Devils have previously been linked with a move for Tonali, although it appears that the Italian could be on his way to the Etihad. Final Thoughts Hall is a generational talent who will only get better with age and experience. He has all the attributes to solve United’s left-back crisis, and INEOS should look to secure his signature this summer. United set for huge unexpected relief as Ruben Amorim closes in on AC Milan job – Telegraph
Manchester United are set for a major financial boost as former head coach Ruben Amorim closes in on becoming the next AC Milan boss. Return to management Amorim has been out of work since January, when he was dismissed by United after a turbulent 14-month spell. Brought in to replace Erik ten Hag, Amorim never really got going as he struggled to implement his controversial 3-4-2-1 system, which made it hard to attain consistent results and performances. He did well to tame the dressing room, yet his on-pitch performance wasn’t enough. Matters were made worse by his public disputes with senior figures, most notably Jason Wilcox, which ultimately decided his fate. Michael Carrick was appointed, initially on an interim basis, to succeed Amorim. Carrick masterminded a brilliant run that saw United finish in third place and secure Champions League football after a two-year absence. Carrick took charge of 17 games. He won 12, drew three and lost two. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Amorim is a leading candidate to be the next Milan boss after the Serie A giants parted with Massimiliano Allegri. Amorim had been in the running for the Benfica job after Jose Mourinho’s return to Real Madrid, but Benfica finally opted for Fulham’s Marco Silva. Now, The Telegraph reveal that United will save millions in compensation payments if Amorim ends up at the San Siro. Financial boost James Ducker writes, “United revealed in an accounting report in February that they faced a compensation bill of up to £15.9m to cover Amorim’s exit and that of his staff, including coaches Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro and Jorge Vital.” “However, that figure is expected to be slashed now that Amorim is primed to take over at Milan following the sacking last month of Massimiliano Allegri.” It’s said that Milan had identified Andoni Iraola as their top managerial target but their plans were scuppered as Liverpool moved in quickly to secure the Spaniard’s services. If Amorim’s move to Milan materialises, a tasty reunion with United awaits, with the two sides set to meet in a pre-season friendly on August 15 in Warsaw, Poland. Amorim’s record at United stands at 24 wins, 18 draws, and 21 losses in 63 games across all competitions. He managed a measly win rate of just 38.1%. His tenure included a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in 2025. “I would go running”: Former United captain explains he’d to return to the club to work with Carrick

Former Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia has expressed his admiration for the work of newly appointed permanent manager Michael Carrick. Teammates Valencia joined the club in 2009 and spent nine years as a teammate of Carrick before the Englishman retired. The Ecuadorian played 339 matches for the club and scored 25 goals. He captained the United side in his final season and departed the club in 2019. The winger-turned-full-back then joined LDU Quito before moving to Mexican side Querétaro F.C. for the 2020-2021 season. Post playing days Valencia is currently working for Telemundo Deportes as a pundit in their coverage of the FIFA World Cup. The Ecuadorian has also kept contact with United, recently playing in the club’s legends match against Southampton. The former winger was discussing Manchester United’s season in comments covered by The Mirror. Carrick praise The 40-year-old was very positive about the job his former teammate has done so far. Commenting on Carrick’s time at the club so far, he stated, “I sent him a message wishing him success. Carrick is someone I respect and care about a lot. I wished him success as a coach, and I think it has gone well for him.” He continued, “things have worked out, and it makes me happy that he is going into another season on the bench.” Potential return Valencia revealed that he would love to return to the club in some capacity in the future. He asserted, “Yes, I would go back. Manchester United is a club that gave me so much. My family was very happy there. I would work for Manchester United in any role, out of passion. It is a club I love a lot. I think everything they are doing is going well. But if they called me, I would go running.” The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. Video: 88% pass accuracy, 7 duels won, 5 clearances: United veteran locks down La Liga star in stunning World Cup performance

Manchester United had two players in action during Saturday’s World Cup. Noussair Mazraoui Mazraoui put in a stunning performance for Morocco as they held Brazil to a 1-1 draw to open their group. The Moroccan kept Raphinha quiet for most of the night as he kept him on lockdown. He played 80 minutes of the encounter, winning three of his five tackles. He made five clearances and impressively won seven ground duels as the experienced fullback. Mazraoui also showed off his versatility by completing two dribbles and making an impressive 88% of his passes. Matheus Cunha Cunha was named on the bench for Brazil and came on in the 61st minute of the match, but had little impact on the game. He failed in both his dribble attempts and did not manage to get a shot on goal during his half an hour on the pitch. Cunha was not able to make any key passes in the match and also failed in both his cross attempts, as he was regularly frustrated by a stubborn Moroccan defence. The Brazilian was also only able to complete 56% of his passes. He did win both his tackles and three ground duels as he worked hard for his nation off the ball. Casemiro Former United midfielder Casemiro also had a tough day at the office and was substituted at half-time after receiving a yellow card in the first half. He often looked sluggish in midfield but did complete 94% of his passes, making one key pass. Casemiro also made three clearances and one interception during his time on the pitch. He did win his only aerial duel but, disappointingly, lost six of his eight ground battles. New signing Ederson was also left on the bench for Brazil. Altay Bayindir was an unused substitute in Turkey’s 0-2 loss to Australia, and Tyler Fletcher was an unused substitute in Scotland’s 1-0 win over Haiti. Ex-United boss confirms big update on his future after failed talks with Euro giants
Former Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has made a big call on his future after a proposed switch to AC Milan failed to materialise. Collapsed talks A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Rangnick had been in talks over potentially succeeding the sacked Massimiliano Allegri at Milan. He engaged in talks with Milan, who were keen on having him in the dugout, but the discussions did not bear fruit. United appointed Rangnick after Ole Gunnar Solskjær was dismissed following a poor run of results and performances that left United struggling in the Premier League. He arrived to much expectations, owing to his reputation as a pioneering coach and sporting director with the Red Bull network, but this did not translate to United. His stint at Old Trafford was underwhelming, to say the least. Rangnick’s record from 29 matches: 11 wins, 10 draws, eight losses. That’s a poor win rate of just 38%. He regularly called for radical change at United, insisting the team was not good enough and needed open heart surgery. After leaving United, Rangnick took up the role of Austria national team head coach. Big decision Shortly after it emerged that Rangnick would not be taking charge of Milan, Austria confirmed that he has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal that runs until at least UEFA EURO 2028. It is an important signal of unity and shared sporting goals.” “The clarity now achieved is of particular importance for the team.” “My special thanks go to Ralf Rangnick. The fact that he has chosen Austria and his team shows how important this project is to him. It is a true matter of the heart for him.” Rangnick remarked, “I said from the beginning that for me, the contract extension was a fundamental decision, where many factors played a role. Including the fact that some members of my coaching staff would remain.” “Everything that has happened here in the last four years is at least 50 percent thanks to the entire coaching team. I can now sit here and say with a really good feeling that I will remain with the national team even after the World Cup.” Rangnick and Austria kick off their World Cup campaign on Wednesday, June 17, when they face Jordan. Premier League forced to change the rules following controversial red card to United star last season – BBC

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez was involved in an incident during the 2025/26 season, which has now prompted the Premier League to make a major rule change. Martinez incident In April, Martinez was shown a red card as United fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Leeds United. Martinez was given his marching orders after referee Paul Tierney judged that he had tugged the hair of Dominic Calvert-Lewin while the pair were engaged in a duel. In real time, there was nothing. Then the game stopped, and Tierney dashed to the pitchside monitor to look at the incident. Martinez looked bewildered as he made his way off the pitch. Replays strongly suggested that Martinez only made contact with Calvert-Lewin’s hair, enough to undo his bun, rather than any deliberate or forceful hair pull. After the final whistle, a fuming Michael Carrick branded the decision “one of the worst” he had ever seen. United appealed the decision but they were unsuccessful. Martinez subsequently served a three-match ban. Carrick further said, “It’s not a pull, it’s not a tug, it’s not aggressive, he touches it and gets sent off. Worst of all is he was sent to overturn it as a clear and obvious error. It’s shocking. He’s off-balance because of that, he half touches the back of his hair which pulls the bobble out and leads it to look like – I don’t even know what it looks like.” Now, the BBC report that the Premier League have changed how they judge hair pulling next season. Rule change Dale Johnson writes, “Officials will also be asked to place a greater emphasis on grappling and holding inside the area after it became commonplace on corners and set-pieces.” It’s understood that this modification was agreed at the Premier League AGM earlier this month after consultation with the game improvement advisory group. Apart from Martinez, Everton’s Michael Keane and Sunderland star Dan Ballard were all shown red in 2025/26 for hair-pulling. The managers of the two teams were equally frustrated, much like Carrick. Johnson adds, “However, the new guidance does not mean hair pulling will suddenly be tolerated. Referees will be told to look for a ‘clear and deliberate action’ which has ‘excessive force and/or brutality.’ It’s said that Martinez’s red card would be considered a borderline case and therefore open to interpretation. Video: “Go up another level”: United duo back 21yo to explode under Carrick next season, no wonder INEOS have changed their minds

Manchester United have been forced to tweak their transfer plans due to red-hot form shown by one player under Michael Carrick. Initially, the Red Devils were expected to address the glaring lack of left wingers in the squad, following the departures of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho. When the former midfielder took over from Ruben Amorim, he changed Patrick Dorgu’s position from a wingback to a winger and the change paid immediate dividends. The Dane scored three goals and registered two assists since the Portuguese head coach departed, and INEOS were delighted with what they saw from the former Lecce ace. Patrick Dorgu: great impact down the left So much so that they are now not looking to bring in a left winger and instead are focusing on bringing in a left-back to support Luke Shaw. Not only the co-owners, but even the Denmark international‘s teammates have been left impressed with what they have seen from the 21-year-old. Mainoo and Yoro were asked: Who is the one to watch for #mufc next season? 👀 via @ViaplayFotball pic.twitter.com/em1BXaAnzc — utdreport (@utdreport) June 13, 2026 Both Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro were asked about who they felt would be the United player to watch out for. Both unanimously named Patrick Dorgu. The midfielder revealed to ViaPlay, “I’d say Patrick [Dorgu]. I’d say he can go up another level again. In training, some of the stuff he’s doing, you can see him really pushing.” Yoro and Mainoo tip Patrick Dorgu to explode next campaign The centre-back added, “Patrick Dorgu [one to watch next season]. Sometimes he plays as a winger as well. In this position, he is really dangerous for the opponent.” The stats back up the duo’s call. In 283 minutes under Carrick, the United No. 13 has managed four goal involvements, averaging one every 71 minutes. He has carried that form onto the international stage, scoring against Ukraine recently in a friendly. With Denmark not qualifying for the World Cup, Patrick Dorgu will return fresh for pre-season and will have extra time on the training pitch to work with Carrick. Fans will be excited to see what Patrick Dorgu can do next season.
