“Here we go”: Fabrizio Romano confirms Amorim will take charge of Euro giants, sets up spicy United reunion

Former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is set to become the next head coach of Serie A giants AC Milan, the reliable Fabrizio Romano has confirmed. New adventure Over the past few days, rumours surfaced that Amorim was in talks with Milan over potentially replacing Massimiliano Allegri, who was sacked after a poor 2025/26 season in which the club missed out on Champions League football. Amorim has been out of work since January, when he was dismissed by United after an extremely turbulent 14-month spell. Milan explored a number of different candidates including Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner, but opted to advance talks with Amorim’s camp. Now, Romano has announced that an agreement is in place for the Portuguese coach to become the next Milan gaffer. According to Romano on X, ” BREAKING: Rúben Amorim to AC Milan as new head coach, HERE WE GO!” “Verbal agreement done on deal valid until June 2028 plus option until June 2029.” “Amorim has accepted all conditions and will sign this week as new Milan manager.” 🚨🔴⚫️ BREAKING: Rúben Amorim to AC Milan as new head coach, HERE WE GO! 🇵🇹 Verbal agreement done on deal valid until June 2028 plus option until June 2029. United stint Amorim was appointed by United in November 2024 after Erik ten Hag’s departure. He arrived to much hype, fanfare and expectations, but his spell was underwhelming to say the least. He led the Red Devils to a 15th-placed finish and a Europa League final loss to Tottenham Hotspur. United struggled to attain consistent performances and results as he went about trying to implement his controversial 3-4-2-1 system. Despite calls for him to modify in an effort to accommodate the crop of players at his disposal, he stubbornly stuck to his principles. His bust-up with the hierarchy and in particular director of football Jason Wilcox, ultimately sealed his fate. Amorim oversaw 63 games at United. He won 24, drew 18 and lost 21. His win rate stands at a measly 38.1%. He is set to face his old club in pre-season, with Milan due to take on United in Wroclaw, Poland on 15 August, a week before the Premier League begins. United told 28m will be enough to secure bargain PL signing that could solve Carrick’s defensive headache – report

Manchester United’s summer spree is expected to centre around improving Michael Carrick’s midfield options, with quality additions needed in the engine room to be able to cope with competing on multiple fronts next season. INEOS are working hard behind the scenes to get deals done as quickly as possible for the newly appointed permanent head coach, with Atalanta’s Ederson all but confirmed as the first through the doors. Although the middle of the park is clearly the priority position to fix, United will certainly have their eye on other areas of the pitch in need of an upgrade or additional cover, given the bumper schedule ahead. Left back wanted Left-back would undoubtedly fall into that category, with rumours of Premier League stars rife to come and bolster Carrick’s options in defence. The Peoples Person recently relayed United’s interest in Fulham’s Antonee Robinson, who is currently enjoying a fine start to the World Cup in his homeland, the United States. As explained by The Mirror, United are now aware of the fee it could take to get him out of Craven Cottage, and it looks to be decent value given the state of the market at present. It’s claimed the London club “could sanction a sale” for a bid of £28 million, which is significantly cheaper than the fees discussed for primary left-back target, Lewis Hall. Despite enjoying a fine season last time out, current first-choice option Luke Shaw is not expected to cope with the demands of the extra games next year, but still has the quality to operate at the highest level, meaning Robinson could come in as a perfect understudy to the Englishman. Robinson himself has gathered plenty of experience whilst at Fulham and would reportedly welcome the interest from United as he looks for that big move in the prime of his career at 28 years of age. Plenty of game time expected However, should United decide Robinson is their man, he would be playing second fiddle to Shaw, who, given his ability, would command the number one spot unless he picks up an injury. Incredibly, Shaw started every Premier League game for United last season but still is highly susceptible to a long-term lay-off, meaning Robinson would almost certainly get game time at Old Trafford. The American would undoubtedly back his ability to perform under the pressure of the Theatre of Dreams should Shaw miss any chunk of the schedule, with the view of permanently replacing him in Carrick’s starting XI. At £28 million, the US star certainly represents outstanding value in the market and, with funds tight at United, could well prove to be one of the bargains of the summer should INEOS strike a deal in the coming weeks. Barcelona pushing to sign United teenage sensation, teammates have already bid farewell – report

Barcelona are looking to snap up a Manchester United youngster this summer. Much has been written about Barcelona’s desire to renegotiate terms with United for Marcus Rashford, with the La Liga giants keen to sign him on another loan deal. United have so far indicated that they will not let Rashford leave for less than €30 million. However, they are powerless to stop another academy product from moving to Camp Nou. Barcelona eyeing Manchester United goalkeeper According to Football Insider, Manchester United youngster Darlington Osuchukwu is set to leave the club this summer. The 16-year-old goalkeeper, who moved to Manchester from Spanish outfit Gazte Berriak when he was 13 years old, has reportedly decided that he will leave Manchester United despite being a key figure for the under-16 side. Osuchukwu has featured on the bench for the U18s at times as well as trained with the first team on several occasions. Yet there has been no agreement over a first professional contract at United. It is claimed the Spain under-17 international is being chased by a host of clubs from across Europe, with Barcelona, Reims, Eintracht Frankfurt and Anderlecht all keen. The report states: “The young stopper had been earmarked for a huge future with the Manchester giants, but could now return to his homeland with Barcelona.” In May, teammates Jaume Camacho and Josep Camacho shared farewell messages for Osuchukwu. On Instagram, Camacho posted a picture of the pair with a message: “End of an era bro, hasta pronto”. Manchester United want to replace Altay Bayindir There will be changes in the senior goalkeeping department at Old Trafford as well. It has been widely reported that United are prepared to let Altay Bayindir leave this summer. The Turkey international is attracting interest from Süper Lig clubs. Meanwhile, the Red Devils are considering bringing in Sam Johnstone from Wolverhampton Wanderers to provide cover for Senne Lammens. Johnstone, 33, is a product of United’s academy. Amad gave Manchester United fans a reminder of his qualities against Ecuador on Sunday, 14 June, in the group stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Ivorian winger is coming off a mixed campaign for the Red Devils, during which he was not at his productive best in the final third. Amad started the 2025/26 season as a right wing-back in former head coach Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system and was quite impressive. The 23 year old did occasionally play higher up on the pitch, but made the permanent switch to the attack following the arrival of Michael Carrick. Amad ended the season with two goals and four assists in 33 appearances across all competitions. The Ivorian’s future has been subject to speculation ahead of the summer, but a previous report relayed by The Peoples Person states that United have him firmly in their plans. Amad is part of the Ivory Coast’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and he ensured a fantastic debut in the mega tournament this week. Amad started from the bench Amad was on the bench for Wednesday’s group stage tie, with manager Emerse Fae opting to start Bazoumana Toure ahead of him. The Hoffenheim man is reportedly a target for the Red Devils, who are looking to upgrade their attack this summer. However, it was Ecuador who looked the stronger side in the first half and even hit the crossbar twice within the first 30 minutes. The Elephants did look threatening in parts, with Yan Diomande, who also has admirers at Old Trafford, regularly stretching the opposition backline but lacking the end product. Elye Wahi came close to scoring for Ivory Coast after the break, with his attempt also hitting the crossbar, before Fae opted to bring on Amad in place of Toure. The Red Devils man helped spark fire into his team and ultimately proved to be their saviour. In the 90th minute, Amad side-footed Wilfried Singo’s square ball into the back of the net to send his team into frenzied celebrations. The result ended Ecuador’s 19-game unbeaten run and also ensured that the 2026 FIFA World Cup is yet to see a 0-0 draw. While Yan Diomande won the man of the match award for his performance, it was Amad who proved to be the game changer. The United forward will now be pushing for a place in the starting XI for the upcoming group-stage tie against Germany. Stats prove Amad’s importance for United Fae had moved Diomande to the right wing to accommodate Toure on the left, but the RB Leipzig star was reinstated in his favoured position once Amad entered the game. The United man was a livewire against Ecuador and left a mark during his first 34 minutes on the pitch at the World Cup. Amad registered two shots on target and attempted seven dribbles, six of which were successful. He did not shy away from his defensive duties either, winning one tackle and seven of his nine ground duels. He registered 30 touches of the ball, completing 15 of his 17 attempted passes with an 88% success rate. The Ivorian also managed two long balls, both of which reached their intended target, and registered one key pass. Former Manchester United star Lou Macari has received a well-deserved honour. Man United career The Scotland international left Celtic for Manchester United in 1973. He spent 12 years at Old Trafford, experiencing the lows of relegation and the highs of lifting the FA Cup at Wembley. The winger played 404 times for the club, scoring 97 goals in all competitions. Macari also represented Scotland 24 times. He spent two seasons at Swindon Town before retiring at the end of the 1985-1986 season. The Scot would then go on to manage numerous teams before leaving his last job at Huddersfield Town in 2002. The former player currently owns a chip shop close to Old Trafford and is a regular on the club’s in-house media channel, MUTV. Honours The club’s official website reports that, “former Manchester United star Lou Macari has been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours.” He “was awarded an MBE by King Charles for his work to tackle homelessness and his services to football.” Since 2016, Macari has established the Macari Foundation to help tackle homelessness in the city of Stoke, where he currently lives. Speaking to the BBC about the work of his foundation, he explained, “I walk through Stoke these days and when people stop me they don’t want to talk about football or the World Cup, they want to talk about the homeless situation.” He went on, “at this stage of my life, and as an ex-footballer, this gives me great satisfaction. It’s not about winning and losing. It’s a complicated environment, and people recognise that you’re doing your best, and that’s all you can do.” Finally, commenting on the award, he said, “hopefully this honour will help increase awareness because although we are still trying and having some success, none of us have found a way to get rid of the problem.” The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. Former Manchester United star Sir David Beckham has received yet another accolade in a star-studded career. Man United career The former England captain made his name at Manchester United. After Eric Cantona retired, Beckham bore the responsibility of wearing the number seven on his back, playing 394 times for the club and scoring 85 goals. He was also sensational in the treble-winning 1998-1999 season, finishing second in the Ballon d’Or rankings. Beckham left United for Real Madrid in 2003 after falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson. The midfielder spent four seasons in the Spanish capital before moving to Los Angeles Galaxy. He then spent two loan spells at AC Milan before retiring at Paris Saint-Germain during the 2012-2013 season. Post football career Since the 1990s, Beckham has been a pop and fashion icon, but he has also had a successful business career. Beckham has been part-owner of Salford City with former teammate Gary Neville and is also the owner of the increasingly successful MLS franchise Inter Miami. Latest success The Manchester United official website has highlighted the latest reward for the United legend. The site states, “former Manchester United star Sir David Beckham has had his name added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.” It is also explained that “the Walk of Fame sees icons from various industries have their name imprinted in a star and laid on Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, and has become a key attraction in Los Angeles.” Commenting on the success, Beckham explained, “I’ve experienced some amazing moments in my career. But to be here in Los Angeles receiving a star on the world-famous Walk of Fame is truly incredible. I’ve always been a dreamer, but I could never have imagined that an honour like this would come to a working-class English soccer player like me. I grew up in the east end of London, a long way from Hollywood.” Beckham continued, “as a young boy, I loved soccer more than anything and it was all I ever wanted to do. I always loved America, though, and its TV shows.” Feature image Rich Storry via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. Manchester United’s Matheus Cunha made his World Cup debut on Saturday night. Brazil match Cunha has played 25 times for the Brazilian national team, making his debut in 2021. He has only scored once, against Argentina in World Cup qualification. Cunha started on the bench alongside new United signing Ederson for their match against Morocco but did enter the fray just after the hour mark. Fellow United teammate, Noussair Mazraoui put in a spectacular showing and was widely praised by the Moroccan media. Whilst Cunha had a much quieter match, he was still singled out as one of Brazil’s better performers by the local media. Praise from nation Brazilian outlet Globo commented on their national team’s 1-1 draw with Morocco to open their 2026 World Cup and praised the contribution of United’s number 10. They explained, “With the exception of Matheus Cunha’s efforts to regroup and connect the midfield to the attack, Brazil was practically ineffective from the attacking midfield.” Globo also stated that, “even with the number 9 on his back, he didn’t play as a centre forward, but rather on the left side of the attack.” The media outlet singled out one action in particular when they described, “at 32 minutes, he made a great pass to Vinicius Junior, which resulted in a dangerous play. He was also important without the ball, frequently dropping back to defend.” ESPN Brazil were also quick to praise the efforts of Cunha. The sports network added, “of those who came off the bench, he was the one who performed best. He moved out of the box, helped in marking, and showed enough to deserve more playing time.” Cunha and Brazil will take on Haiti next on Saturday morning at 01:30 BST. Manchester United’s 2025 summer business has been lauded by everyone, but one player could not make the impact he would have liked. Diego Leon was signed from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno and he had claimed he would “kill it” at Old Trafford last season. However, after four matchday appearances under former head coach Ruben Amorim, the 19-year-old failed to make the bench any more and was restricted to Under-21 games only. The Paraguayan did make 20 appearances for United’s Under-21s, including a fine goal against Tottenham Hotspur, but it was a season of acclimatisation for the left-back, with a January loan offer rebuffed. Diego Leon mainly restricted to Under-21 games Now, with a season in England under his belt, the expectation is that he will kick on, and according to The Manchester Evening News, he will be given a chance to impress Michael Carrick. The head coach will take the South American on United’s pre-season tour and with the Red Devils eyeing a successor for Luke Shaw, there is an opportunity up for grabs. Should he fail to take his chance, the next logical step is going out on loan, like Harry Amass did last summer. “Diego Leon will feature for Manchester United in pre-season before a decision is made on his next steps. Pre-season chance beckons “United decided to keep Leon with the Under-21s to give him time to improve different areas of his game. He will now get a chance to show what he can do in pre-season before a plan is formed for him next season. “Leon was challenged by U21 fixtures this term, so leaving on loan in the January transfer window was not realistic, but doing so in 2026/2027 would be the logical next step for his development.” With moves for Nathaniel Brown and Lewis Hall running into trouble, both Amass and Diego Leon have a golden chance to stake their claim for a first-team spot. Whether they can impress the head coach remains to be seen. The 20-time English league champions still feel the wonderkid has first-team potential, hence the patient approach. Manchester United have announced that Jadon Sancho will be departing after his five-year contract comes to an end in June. There were suggestions that the Red Devils could trigger his one-year extension option in order to earn a small fee from his sale but INEOS decided the player was not worth the hassle. Of those five years, two-and-a-half years have been spent out on loan, with two of those clubs refusing to sign him on a permanent basis. That just shows how poor his performances have been, and the £73 million arrival from Borussia Dortmund easily ranks as one of the worst signings in the club’s history. Jadon Sancho has proven to be an abysmal signing for United The Englishman is only 26, and he will have to find a new club for himself at a time which should be considered his peak years. 💥Beşiktaş, Jadon Sancho için harekete geçti. 👀 26 yaşındaki futbolcu için Siyah-Beyazlılar tarafından önümüzdeki günlerde teklif yapılacağı bilgisine ulaşıldı. 🚨 Devre arasında da listeye giren Sancho’nun önceliğinin Premier Lig olduğu bildirildi. pic.twitter.com/yOzZJyymMf — Fanatik (@fanatikcomtr) June 12, 2026 Not too many teams have come up with proposals, but that could change according to Fanatik, who have claimed that Besiktas are preparing a contract offer for the England international. However, as things stand, the winger is likely to turn down the offer as he has eyes on staying in the Premier League. “Beşiktaş has taken action for Jadon Sancho. Information has been received that the Black-and-Whites will make an offer in the coming days for the 26-year-old footballer. Besiktas preparing summer offer “It has been reported that Sancho, who was also on the list during the mid-season window, prioritises the Premier League.” Several English top-flight sides are interested in the soon-to-be free agent, who is reportedly keen to stay back at Aston Villa, who are yet to take a firm call. His former club, Borussia Dortmund, stepped away due to concerns about his form and his humongous wages. It is clear that Jadon Sancho will have to lower his wage demands if he wants to stay in England. Otherwise, Türkiye or even the Saudi Pro League seem like his best options at the moment. Manchester United’s aggressive move for Mateus Fernandes has alerted several top clubs, seemingly forcing them to change their plans. Earlier today, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming that Real Madrid expect United to sign Fernandes. As such, they are not going to make a formal move for the Portuguese gem, who is thought to be admired by Jose Mourinho. Arsenal have also cooled their interest in Fernandes, and they are not the only Premier League rival prepared to look elsewhere. Manchester United set to “steal” Mateus Fernandes According to Anfield Watch, Liverpool expressed “genuine interest” in signing Mateus Fernandes. It is understood that the West Ham midfielder is viewed as a “serious prospect” and one who could “develop into a star at Anfield.” However, Liverpool were reportedly hoping to pay significantly less than the £80 million figure now quoted at West Ham. The report states: “It’s understood that Liverpool felt their valuation was realistic until the likes of United expressed a willingness to pay more, driving the asking price much higher.” Accordingly, Liverpool are out of the race for the signature of “a fantastic midfielder and exactly the kind of player that the squad lacked last season – someone who can consistently win the ball back.” Manchester United in talks to strike agreement for Mateus Fernandes In a separate report, Fabrizio Romano claimed that United have no intention of paying “completely crazy money” for the 21-year-old star.
