Rio Ferdinand urges Ratcliffe and INEOS to make this next “brutal” and “bloody” decision after axing Ashworth

    rio-ferdinand-urges-ratcliffe-and-ineos-to-make-this-next-“brutal”-and-“bloody”-decision-after-axing-ashworth

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS to be as brutal with the current squad of players as they were when axing Dan Ashworth.

On Sunday, a bombshell report by The Athletic revealed that sporting director Ashworth had parted ways with United after just five months at the club.

It was stated that separation was instigated by United, with Ratcliffe in particular playing a pivotal role.

A subsequent report revealed further details of what went down behind the scenes, indicating that there were tensions between Ashworth and some of the other executives including CEO Omar Berrada, INEOS chief Sir Dave Brailsford and even Ratcliffe himself.

Reacting to Ashworth’s shocking dismissal, Ferdinand said, “Confusion is the first thing that comes to mind.”

“I just hope that they’re this brutal as they have been with the staff that have been there for years and that they’re culling.”

“I hope they’re this brutal with the s— players that are there. If there are any s— players that are there, and ones that have either been there too long or the ones that just aren’t good enough, be as brutal as they’ve been.”

“Get them the f— out quick.”

“I hope they’re like that. For better or worse, at least they’ve made a bloody decision. That’s the way I think about it. But you look at the things that are going on.”

“I think there’s a lot of noise around the club. Ticket prices are now going up, there’s been laying off of 250 plus staff and again, they’re very definitive.”

Ferdinand added, “They’re like, ‘We’re doing this. We don’t care about the noise.’”

INEOS need to be as brutal with the players…

United confirm fresh dates for three key matches after latest round of PL fixture changes

      united-confirm-fresh-dates-for-three-key-matches-after-latest-round-of-pl-fixture-changes

Manchester United have confirmed that three of their February 2025 Premier League matches have been moved, as part of the latest round of fixture changes.

Earlier on Monday, the Premier League announced the television broadcast selections for February’s games.

The league also relayed the revised schedule with matches receiving fresh dates due to European football, as the respective competitions enter their next stages.

United kickstart their February with a home meeting against Crytal Palace.

Oliver Glasner’s men were initially set to make their way to Old Trafford on Saturday 1 February, but the contest has now been changed to a 14:00 GMT kick-off on Sunday 2 February.

This amendment is a result of United’s Europa League game with FCSB in Romania the preceding Thursday.

United vs. Palace will not be shown live on TV in the UK.

Ruben Amorim’s side will visit Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium two weeks later, with the match rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday. It will now kick off at 16:30 GMT on Sunday, February 16, and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Finally, United’s match against Everton, originally set for 15:00 GMT on Saturday, February 22, has been moved forward to a 12:30 GMT kickoff.

Proceedings will be broadcast live on TNT Sports.

The game is one to look forward to, as it will be the last time the Red Devils play the Toffees at Goodison Park before they move to their new grounds on Bramley-Moore Dock.

The Everton vs. United match could still be rescheduled if United are involved in Europa League action during the preceding midweek. In that case, the game will be played on Sunday instead.

Man Utd: One Ashworth act ‘infuriated’ Ratcliffe as INEOS felt ‘unimpressive’ ex-director ‘lacked’ two things

        man-utd:-one-ashworth-act-‘infuriated’-ratcliffe-as-ineos-felt-‘unimpressive’-ex-director-‘lacked’-two-things

According to reports, Dan Ashworth’s comments about former Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag ‘infuriated’ Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

At the start of this year, Ratcliffe purchased a minority stake in the Premier League giants to become a co-owner. He took control of footballing matters at Man Utd as part of this deal.

The British billionaire has had a busy few months as he’s moved to appoint the best in class in various departments. He has overhauled their recruitment team and acquired sporting director Ashworth, technical director Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada.

Ashworth left Premier League rivals Newcastle United to join Man Utd, who had to pay a compensation package of around £3m to secure his services.

Ratcliffe and Co. have had to make big decisions in recent months. They initially stuck with Ten Hag in the summer, but he was sacked at the end of October.

READ: Manchester United have backed Ruben Amorim at Dan Ashworth’s expense – now it better pay off

The Dutchman was fortunate to keep his job after Man Utd finished eighth in the Premier League last season. He was dismissed after their disappointing 2-1 loss against West Ham left them 14th.

On Sunday morning, Ashworth’s departure from Man Utd was announced. A report from The Daily Mail claims his ‘comments’ about Ten Hag ‘infuriated Ratcliffe and paved the way for the United sporting director’s shock exit after less than five months’.

        The report claims.

‘In early September the sporting director, who left the club on Sunday morning after less than five months in the role in a stunning development, gave an interview with chief executive Omar Berrada to a number of media outlets.

‘Within it, both pointed out that the decision to retain the Dutchman – which ended up backfiring spectacularly – was not theirs and was taken prior to their arrivals.’

‘Insiders have disclosed that those comments subsequently went down ‘like a lead balloon’ with co-owner Ratcliffe, who appeared to set the record straight in his own interview a month later, with the club faltering badly and Ten Hag heading for the exit.

‘In an appearance on his yacht in Monaco, the billionaire petrochemicals magnate told the BBC that the decision on Ten Hag’s future was ‘not my call’ and when asked if he still had faith in the Ajax boss he added: ‘I don’t want to answer that question’.’

ESPN have revealed a couple of reasons why Ratcliffe ‘quickly became unimpressed’ by Ashworth.

‘One source told ESPN that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United’s minority owner and principal decision-maker, had quickly become unimpressed by Ashworth, believing he lacked the personality and skill set to do the job.

‘So rather than allow an unsatisfactory situation to deteriorate, a decision was made to act now in a dramatic damage-limitation exercise.

‘Sources said that relations between Ashworth and Ratcliffe had been “rocky” for weeks, but that the swiftness of the decision to part company on Sunday morning has surprised many at the club.’

Leading Euro club “putting pressure” on world-class star to sign new deal before planned meeting with United – report

          leading-euro-club-“putting-pressure”-on-world-class-star-to-sign-new-deal-before-planned-meeting-with-united-–-report

Bayern Munich are reportedly putting pressure on Alphonso Davies to sign a new deal before he meets with Manchester United in January.

The left-back position is believed to be an area of the pitch United are eager to strengthen either in the winter transfer window or in the summer.

Davies – who is set to be a free agent in June – has emerged as one of United’s top targets.

Other stars thought to be on the Red Devils’ radar include Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth), Antonee Robinson (Fulham), Alvaro Fernandez Carerras (Benfica) and Theo Hernandez (AC Milan).

Bayern remain in talks with Davies to try and reach an agreement over a new deal but it’s understood there are tensions between the Bundesliga giants and the player’s camp.

Last week, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that amidst the ongoing uncertainty over Davies’ future at Bavaria, United asked for a January sit-down with the defender and his agent, presumably to try and convince him to seal a blockbuster switch to Old Trafford.

BILD journalist Christian Falk now reveals that Bayern are pushing Davies to commit his future to them before he has the opportunity to meet with interested parties like United and Real Madrid.

Falk wrote on X, “FC Bayern is putting pressure on Alphonso Davies (24) to sign a new contract before Christmas.”

“The club would like a decision before Davies has the opportunity to meet with Manchester United and Real Madrid in January.”

“Davies’ side is still hesitating and is considering continuing negotiations in the new year.”

Amorim sends message to one Man Utd star after he snubs Red Devils fans against Arsenal

            amorim-sends-message-to-one-man-utd-star-after-he-snubs-red-devils-fans-against-arsenal

Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim has called upon Marcus Rashford and the rest of his players to acknowledge fans after every match.

The Red Devils lost their sixth game of the season in a 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday with Amorim’s side dropping to 13th in the Premier League table.

Nikola Milenkovic put Forest ahead in under two minutes with a brilliant header before Rasmus Hojlund got Man Utd back on level terms on 18 minutes.

Morgan Gibbs-White then nudged the visitors back in front just after half-time with a long-range shot which Man Utd goalkeeper Andre Onana should have saved.

Nottingham Forest were soon 3-1 up when Chris Wood headed in after a mix-up between Lisandro Martinez and Onana before Bruno Fernandes swept in a 61st-minute strike to make it 3-2.

However, Man Utd could not get the equaliser in another poor performance and it’s evident Amorim will not be the quick fix that many fans had hoped.

Man Utd also lost their previous match 2-0 to Arsenal in midweek and Rashford came in for some stick after appearing to walk towards the tunnel as his team-mates were clapping the supporters.

And now Amorim has urged all his players to make sure they acknowledge fans, he said: “Of course, we have to do it, especially when we lose. Not when we win, when we lose.

“We’re going to do that and everybody has to do it. It’s going to be like that.”

When asked if he shared Erik ten Hag’s frustrations with Rashford’s inconsistency, Amorim said: “I prefer to focus on the whole squad.

“We have a lot to improve, not just Marcus. All the team can improve in every aspect of the game.

“Like I said before, I think the way we sprint back and sprint forward, the way we fight. It’s something we have to be very clear with the team.

“This is the first point we have to address. And then the technical and tactical aspect will come later. So it’s not just Marcus. Everyone has to improve in that area.”

On a “tough” match against Nottingham Forest at the weekend, Amorim said: “It was a really tough game. We started really badly. The first play, we suffered a goal. They scored in difficult moments for us so it was difficult to pass on to the players the job we have to do.

“We controlled the game and created some chances and then we tried to work something for the second half. When we suffer two goals like that, it’s really hard in this context to help the players, to put some calm into the players.

“They try it until the end, with not a lot quality, more heart than quality, but we couldn’t do it, [get] another goal to gain at least a point.”

Neville destroys Man Utd in 248-word Ashworth rant and demands to be ‘punched in the face’

              neville-destroys-man-utd-in-248-word-ashworth-rant-and-demands-to-be-‘punched-in-the-face’

Man Utd legend Gary Neville has called on the club to “punch” him and other fans “in the face” by revealing the reasons for Dan Ashworth’s departure.

The Red Devils released a short statement on Sunday to reveal that sporting director Ashworth had left the club after a morning of speculation.

It was shocking news for the Man Utd fanbase after the Red Devils spent months chasing the transfer king from Newcastle, who were demanding millions in compensation after putting Ashworth on gardening leave.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe saw Ashworth as a key piece to transforming the recruitment setup at Old Trafford but after just five months Man Utd have cut ties.

The statement on Sunday read: “Dan Ashworth will be leaving his role as Sporting Director of Manchester United by mutual agreement. We would like to thank Dan for his work and support during a transitional period for the club and wish him well for the future.”

Despite the insistence from Man Utd that it was a “mutual agreement”, there have been several reports claiming that is not the case with Neville in agreement.

Speaking on NBC Sports, Neville commented on Ashworth’s departure at Man Utd, he said: “Something like that can’t be mutual.

“We all knew when INEOS came in, there would be huge changes, there has been massive redundancies in the club, a complete overhaul of the executive in the club, CEO, CFO, sporting director, technical director, manager just recently as well.

“You would have expected large changes but not for this position. Dan Ashworth was headhunted for many, many months, he was chased for about 10 months, he was on gardening leave for four or five minutes, he was paid millions of pounds for, I worked with Dan Ashworth at the FA and he’s been successful wherever he has gone.

“I’m really shocked this morning that this has happened this morning and it’s going to need a lot of explaining. The statement that the club has put out is really poor.

“Manchester United haven’t had a voice for 10 years. They lost their authority, their boldness, I think they’ve been getting it back in the last 12 months but what is clear is that there’s a fracture here, something has happened.

“You can’t bring someone at the level of Dan Ashworth, lose him after five months and I think something hasn’t gone wrong.

“Fans are going to be asking the question of what’s gone wrong, they’ll speculate, it’ll leave huge voids and I think it’s better to punch us in the face when it is so obvious that something has gone wrong between the personalities of Dan Ashworth, Omar Berrada, Sir Dave Brailsford.”

Better than Salah: stats show swashbuckling United attacker is creatively ahead of league’s top scorer

                better-than-salah:-stats-show-swashbuckling-united-attacker-is-creatively-ahead-of-league’s-top-scorer

Amad Diallo has been the one unqualified success story of Manchester United’s turbulent season so far.

The tricky Ivorian has had to be patient for gametime at Old Trafford, but he is repaying the faith shown in him eventually by Erik ten Hag, then by Ruud van Nistelrooy and especially now by Ruben Amorim many times over.

The 22-year-old has scored three goals and assisted six times in 21 games in all competitions this season, but has only completed the full 90 minutes five times.

And in those five matches, all in the Premier League, he contributed all six of his assists with at least one coming in each game.

It’s left him top of United’s assisting charts, ahead of club captain and creative spark Bruno Fernandes, and joint third in the Premier League.

His six assists leave him equal with Cole Palmer, behind only Mo Salah on eight and Bukayo Saka on 10.

But in another metric, identified by Statman Dave, Amad ranks ahead of every winger in the league save for Saka.

Amad has 10 goal-creating actions having started just eight games, putting him ahead of the likes of Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

He ranks fourth overall, with creative midfielder James Maddison just ahead of him on 11, and is joined on 10 by Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Mikkel Damsgaard.

In the Premier League this season, Bukayo Saka (21) is the only winger with more goal-creating actions than Amad (10). This is despite the #MUFC man having started just eight games in the competition so far.

The sky is the limit for him. 🌟 pic.twitter.com/31jR2Ydykk

                — Statman Dave (@StatmanDave) December 9, 2024

As per FBref, a goal-creating action is defined as one or both of the two actions directly leading to a goal. These actions can include passes, take-ons and drawing fouls.

Viewed per 90 minutes his stats are finer still, with his score of 1.13 putting him ahead of everyone but Saka (1.64) and, conflictingly for United fans, Red Devils loanee Jadon Sancho (1.65).

It is, of course, easy to get carried away by stats and away from what’s happening in front of you on the pitch, but Amad is consistently a top performer for Amorim’s side.

Mostly deployed at right wing-back, the youngster is constantly looking to get forward and is one of the few men in red to get the crowd on their feet regardless of what’s happening elsewhere.

Joe has spent more than half his life writing about football and all of it following United. As a child he told a doctor his name was ‘Paul Scholes’, but could never pick a pass like him no matter how much he tried.

Greedy Man Utd among those who MUST stop exploiting loyalty

                  greedy-man-utd-among-those-who-must-stop-exploiting-loyalty

Ticket prices are a long-time issue with fans feeling exploited and at last they are liaising with other clubs and getting their protests organised.

At a time when the Premier League has secured a 17% increase in TV rights over the next three-year cycle, their stupid actions have triggered protests, especially at a time of financial largesse of unbelievable proportions for players who do not strike many observers as obviously worth the money, or being in any way exceptional. Quite the reverse.

The feeling is that clubs, especially but not exclusively in the Premier League, are being run by people who simply do not care and see only spreadsheets. And yet, if that were true, they don’t seem to find financial fault with clubs endlessly lashing out money on players who, by any measure, are a waste of wages. Or overpaying good players who are lavished as though they are world beaters. Financial irresponsibility is legion and at almost every level. So much so that they have to try and balance the books by putting up prices.

If the clubs were actually run on financially sane principles, maybe they would have an argument, but asking fans for an average of 6.7% more so that they can pay that klutz of a right-back another 10 grand is taking the pish. As one West Ham fan said bitterly on hearing of price rises for concessionary tickets: “The amount of money they will save would cover Danny Ings’s wages for a month.”

Crystal Palace are the only non-promoted club not to lift their prices. As I said, the rise includes concessionary tickets. As if to be young, old or disabled is to be exploited by these vampires, just so you can pay a player five grand more a month.

I warn you not to be young, I warn you not to fall ill. I warn you not to grow old if you follow a Premier League club. Why those smart-suited, sharp-hair-cutted ghouls would think, even in their cruel exploitative world, that pricing the loyalty of these fans out of the market is a good idea, shows the shallow depth of their intellect.

Clearly, financial regulations are having an impact with many clubs trying to generate more cash rather than do the obvious thing and have some control on spending and stop playing the wage inflation game. But equally clear is the establishment of a new strategy which sees what the pointy-shoed, hair-waxed, bearded, coke-snorting establishment dullards would call ‘legacy fans’ as less important than tourist visitors who spend more cash on everything.

They know the price of everything, but the value of nothing. It’s always the same with this economic model. It’s a losers’ mentality and those who propound it will eventually themselves suffer, despite them thinking they’re masters of the universe. If life doesn’t teach you that being selfish and cruel and exploitative is a recipe for unhappiness, then you’re not paying attention.

Football is love. And nothing good comes from abusing love. As one banner put it: ‘Local lad Sir Jim charges £66 for OAPs and juniors. Stop exploiting loyalty.’ They would probably think this is communism, they are so out of touch with life as lived by the people whose support they exploit. I suspect Covid taught them how unimportant fans are to revenue streams at most clubs.

While big clubs like Manchester United or Spurs might make more than £100m from ticket sales across a season as part of a £600m-plus turnover, by the time you subtract policing costs, operational costs and other expenditure, it will be much less. Buy one fewer malfunctioning midfielder and you are not much worse off playing in front of nobody. If you recall, the players didn’t seem to mind and celebrated like the ground was full.

Smaller clubs like West Ham only took £52m gate money from £236m revenue. One or two players’ transfer fees and wages would cover that and no one can tell me every single one of the 23-man squad and eight loan players is crucial to finishing 12th.

They don’t need us, so if they piss a few thousand off with price rises, do the maths; it doesn’t really matter.

Years of passion, emotion and daily involvement just exploited like it’s nothing. That’s their very modern attitude, as though a football club is a regular business, albeit one that gets £150m of free money just for taking part, in a decidedly non-capitalist move. Subsidy is a dirty word to these thrusting executives, except when the Premier League dishes out the money.

They seem confused. They love to think they’re at the cutting edge of free-market liberalism and late-stage capitalism, draining the life-blood out of supporters for an extra few quid profit, but are propped up by the annual Premier League donation of free money, like they’re a communist collective.

It should be said that not everyone at every club are completely stupid b**tards, Brentford announced a policy to subsidise away tickets for under-18s so they will pay no more than £10. Away fans will also benefit from reduced prices for kids at the Gtech Community Stadium. So it can be done. A football club is a simple, usually quite small business. You’d have to be smoking some bad stuff to get it wrong. People turn up in thousands even if your product is rancid. In very few businesses can you churn out dross and retain customers. If I wrote dysfunctional, boring novels, I’d soon know about it and unlike these mohair-suited fools, I don’t get propped up with free money just for existing.

Brighton and Wolves backed down on increases under fan pressure. There’s only so much pish-taking clubs can do and relying on tourist trade over regular fans is a terrible long-term decision. I’m astounded they can’t see that. Undoubtedly, they are trying to follow an American model without realising it’s very different here, but these people are evidently so culturally blind, they can’t see it.

Broadcast rights are everything. We are nothing. If playing to empty stadiums doesn’t impact broadcast revenues, they’ll happily play to nobody. Though if the presence of fans means something financially, cross-club fan organisations have some power to shake these brain dead execs out of their capitalist self-delusion and pay respect to the people that effectively keep them in work. Push people too far and some will rise up and start putting hooks on lamp posts. Judgement day is coming for you shiny-suited cretins, don’t doubt it.

Man Utd trio join ‘braindead’ Tottenham star in Premier League worst XI with Newcastle, Chelsea players

It was a dire weekend for Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United; six of their struggling stars feature in the Premier League’s worst XI for matchday 15.

This team is based on WhoScored’s player ratings…

GK: Andre Onana (Manchester United) – 4.37
The Cameroon international has been one of Man Utd’s better performers over the past 18 months, but he remains prone to the odd disasterclass and the loss to Nottm Forest was a match to forget for the goalkeeper.

He was wrong-footed for Morgan Gibbs-White’s goal, but the shot was still directed at the middle of the net and should have been saved. Then him and Lisandro Martinez had a ‘mare when failing to deal with Chris Wood’s looping header which needlessly found the bottom corner.

RB: Tino Livramento (Newcastle United) – 5.98
Eddie Howe’s side succumbed to homebodies Brentford, who piled the pressure on the fifth-favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked. The England newbie made a weak attempt to prevent Kevin Schade’s late goal in his side’s 4-2 win as the right-back’s slip made the winger’s task of putting the game to bed much easier than it should have been.

CB: Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace) – 5.73
                    With a ban potentially looming
, captain Guehi did not help Palace in their 2-2 draw against faltering Manchester City. Erling Haaland beat the centre-back in the air as the striker – who has reportedly ‘agreed a secret clause’ for a new contract – headed home to end his three-game Premier League goal drought. So, the freakish forward remains ridiculous.

CB: Leny Yoro (Manchester United) – 5.74
United’s summer signing is gradually getting up to speed after returning from injury and was subbed after 66 minutes against Forest. The move for the aforementioned mess of Gibbs-White’s goal started as Bruno Fernandes failed to find the centre-back with a misplaced pass. Afterwards, shortly before coming off, the teenager did not get close enough to Wood for his headed winner.

LB: Marc Cucurella (Chelsea) – 5.03
Cucurella had his blushes spared by his attackers as Chelsea fought back from behind to hammer another nail in Ange Postecoglou’s coffin. Two slips resulted in two goals inside the opening 15 minutes for Spurs, who sprinted into an early lead thanks largely to the full-back’s now-binned boots.

CM: Yves Bissouma (Tottenham Hotspur) – 5.91
There was a comedy of errors from Spurs as they let another 2-0 lead slip. They did so by gifting Chelsea two penalties, which were cooly dispatched by Cole Palmer. The first was awarded after Bissouma took out Moises Caicedo with a reckless challenge, which pushed an exasperated Jamie Carragher to call the centre-midfielder “braindead” on co-commentary.

CM: Pape Sarr (Tottenham Hotspur) – 5.83
Sarr (i.e. stupid Spurs midfielder No.2) is included after he barged into the back of Palmer in the penalty box to hand Chelsea the opportunity to seal another win at Tottenham with their fourth goal. The England international could not believe his luck after playing for a foul and proceeded to embarrass stand-in goalkeeper Fraser Forster with a brutal panenka from the spot. Little wonder Postecoglou has become a bit of a d*ck…

RW: Kasey McAteer (Leicester City) – 5.93
As he did against West Ham
, new Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy showcased his ability to make positive in-game changes as his side scored two late goals to salvage a much-needed point. Jamie Vardy – who grabbed a goal and an assist – is unsurprisingly loving life under the Dutchman, while McAteer was one of the players dragged off with half an hour remaining after struggling to make an impact.

CAM: Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United) – 6.08
Starting alongside Fernandes as one of Ruben Amorim’s No.10s, Garnacho was comfortably the weakest of United’s attacking players and was subbed after 58 minutes. He had a one-on-one saved by Matz Sels before Rasmus Hojlund netted the rebound and Rio Ferdinand may be right in saying he does not “fit” into the head coach’s preferred system.

LW: Jordan Ayew (Leicester City) – 6.07
Ayew was taken off at the same time as McAteer. His best moments this season have come as an impact substitute and Vardy was the only Leicester starter with fewer touches than the 33-year-old, who had a blocked shot before half-time and that was about it.

ST: Evanilson (AFC Bournemouth) – 5.87
Bournemouth’s club-record £40m signing has done okay since replacing Dominic Solanke – who has been one of Tottenham’s bright sparks this season – but he struggled against Ipswich Town. He only had a measly 16 touches and after he failed to hit the target with his three shots, he was subbed and not involved as Andoni Iraola’s side completed a dramatic late comeback.

European giants confident United will sell £45m star against Amorim’s wishes – report

                      european-giants-confident-united-will-sell-45m-star-against-amorim’s-wishes-–-report

Manchester United are expected to entertain lucrative offers for Diogo Dalot, who is reported to be on Real Madrid’s radar.

Ruben Amorim has only managed five United fixtures so far and he already has a lot on his plate. The Red Devils have had a mixed start to the Amorim era and back-to-back defeats have led to question marks over his decision making.

Sporting director Dan Ashworth’s abrupt exit has further complicated his task, as it remains unclear what positions United plan to strengthen and who will be shown the exit door in the upcoming transfer windows.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Amorim had “made it clear to Dan Ashworth, Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada he wants time to judge his current squad.”

However, amid Real’s interest in Dalot’s services, the former Sporting boss may not get a say in his full-back’s future at the club.

It is understood that Los Blancos are exploring the market for a new right-back to replace veteran Dani Carvajal in 2025, and Dalot is one of the options they are considering. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Pedro Porro, Juanlu, and Jeremie Frimpong have also been linked with the Spanish giants.

GMS add that Real have been following the United star since January 2024, and have already initiated “exploratory contact”.

Diogo Dalot is highly valued at Manchester United

The 25-year-old has been one of United’s most consistent performers over the past few seasons and his versatility has proven to be very crucial amid injury crisis at left-back.

With Luke Shaw sidelined, Amorim has preferred to use Dalot as the left wing-back in his early days at the helm.

Further, the Portugal international only recently extended his United contract, which now runs until 2028, leaving the Mancunians in a very strong negotiating position. Dalot isn’t also actively looking to depart Old Trafford.

Interestingly, it is claimed that United “sources insist Dalot is not for sale, but those close to Real believe an offer in the region of £45 million might change their mind, even if Amorim is reluctant to lose the Portugal international.”

Real’s search for a new right-back has intensified following Carvajal’s injury. Accordingly, Dalot’s surprise exit can’t be ruled out.
