Ten Hag and Rashford could be reunited as United star closes in on January loan deal – report

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford’s future up remains in the air with Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona currently fighting over his signature.

AC Milan have seemingly exited the race due to the lack of a response from the Mancunian’s camp and have since moved on to other targets.

While the Englishman’s heart seems to be set on a move to Spain, the Catalan giants have found it hard to come up with an acceptable financial solution to land the versatile forward due to Ansu Fati’s reluctance to leave Camp Nou.

That has meant the Bundesliga giants are in the lead and as recently relayed by The Peoples Person, a medical could be on the cards as early as Thursday.

    Dortmund in pole position

Interestingly, the Carrington graduate could reunite with a familiar face at the Westfalenstadion if Dortmund continue their poor run of form.

Nuri Sahin’s job is in danger with the German giants losing Saturday’s league game to Eintracht Frankfurt which has meant they are currently languishing in 10th place.

They have lost three on the trot and should they lose to Bologna in the Champions League on Tuesday, Sahin could be shown the exit with former United boss Erik ten Hag favourite to take over.

As per SPORT, the Dutch manager is not against the idea of bringing in Rashford despite their sometimes rocky relationship at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag feels the United No 10’s behaviour can be corrected and that his arrival could galvanise the squad and give them renewed optimism ahead of the second half of the campaign.

“Dortmund are concerned about the current form of the team. They are currently in tenth place in the Bundesliga with three consecutive defeats to Leverkusen, Kiel and Eintracht.

“In Germany, there is already talk of an ultimatum for Nuri Sahin, their current coach, and they have chosen his replacement, Erik Ten Hag.

    EtH-Rashford reunion on the cards

“Sahin will be sacked if Dortmund lose the Champions League at Bologna on Tuesday. If they lose again, Dortmund could announce on Wednesday the signing of Ten Hag, a coach with whom Dortmund advisor Matthias Sammer has a very good relationship.

“Ten Hag coached Rashford at Manchester United and, despite having also had problems with him , he believes that his behaviour is correctable and would have a great impact on the rest of the group in order to get their heads back on track.”

United are hoping to reach a resolution as early as possible so that they can earn a loan fee and clear up significant space in the wage bill even if they are to cover a portion of the forward’s wages.

And if Rashford can regain his form at Dortmund just like Jadon Sancho last season, it would be a win-win for INEOS as they can then recoup a larger fee from his sale and all of it would constitute pure profit.

United scouts spotted in stands as powerful striker who terrorised De Ligt sees red – report

United scouts spotted in stands as powerful striker who terrorised De Ligt sees red – report

Manchester United had scouts present for Porto’s 1-3 defeat at Gil Vicente as the club looks to enter the January transfer market finally.

Sport Witness cites a report from Portugal that claims United had scouts in the stands to watch the match. The report specifies that they were watching players from Porto, not the triumphant hosts.

The scouting trip followed a 1-3 loss for United – with the feeble display at home to Brighton and Hove Albion underlining just how desperately Ruben Amorim needs reinforcements.

The Portuguese spoke bluntly following the defeat, calling his side “maybe the worst team in the history of Manchester United” as they sit in 13th place just ten points clear of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile Porto boss Vitor Bruno was sacked after the Gil Vicente game with his side third in the league, which is still topped by Amorim’s former side, Sporting Lisbon.

The report did not specify which players were being looked at, but Sport Witness explain that “this is not the first time that officials from the Old Trafford club have watched Porto recently.”

United’s scouts were joined in the stands by representatives from Southampton, Marseille, Bologna and Mallorca.

Sport Witness note that two likely players up for consideration were Brazilian winger Galeno and towering centre-forward Samu Aghehowa, both of whom “have been linked with a host of clubs in the past few months.”

The 20-year-old striker is known all too well to United’s defender and especially Matthijs de Ligt, who was run ragged by his pace and power during the 3-3 Europa League draw in October last year.

He has bagged 18 goals in 24 games so far this season, and could be a great option for Amorim who needs goals and also values physicality.

However, he fluffed his lines yesterday in front of United’s scouts, drawing a blank in front of goal while receiving a red card in the 101st minute.

Galeno has 12 goals and 3 assists from 28 matches, operating as a left-winger and left-back, so could be viewed as an option for United’s painfully understaffed left wing-back position.

Earlier this month it was reported that the Red Devils were interested in Porto’s 17-year-old attacking midfielder Francisco Moura, who featured for around 20 minutes against Gil Vicente.

Newcastle star would leave for Man Utd ‘without a doubt’; Amorim tipped to make ‘two big signings’

Teddy Sheringham “wouldn’t be surprised to see two big January signings” arrive at Man Utd with Newcastle star Alexander Isak the “perfect” transfer.

The Red Devils are hoping to bring in some reinforcements in the winter transfer window to help Ruben Amorim turn things around at Old Trafford.

Their 3-1 defeat to Brighton saw Man Utd remain 13th in the Premier League table with Amorim’s side losing for the tenth time in 22 matches this season.

Man Utd haven’t currently got the players to make the most out of Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation and the Portuguese head coach will be hoping for players who will embrace his philosophy and style of play.

And former Man Utd striker Sheringham reckons the Red Devils will have a couple of “big” January transfers up their sleeve with rumours players like Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho could be on their way out.

Sheringham told BoyleSports: “I wouldn’t be surprised to see two big January signings at Manchester United. I think United need to rebuild, but it’s hard to get big names and proper players in the January window.

“I think it’s a time to work in the background and look for players to start next season. I’d like to see big signings but it’s going to be difficult.

“United just need an overall upgrade. They have good players but not top players. People were picking combined XIs with Liverpool last week with not a single United player in there.

“That is unheard of when you think about the last 30 years. When top players became available, United used to go out and break the bank to get them.

“That isn’t the case at the moment. There is a massive rebuilding job to do.”

Newcastle striker Isak has contributed 17 goals and five assists in 24 matches in all competitions this season for the Magpies and he’s been linked with a number of clubs.

Arsenal are thought to be particularly keen on a move for the Sweden international but Sheringham reckons Isak would “without a doubt” sign for Man Utd if they are interested.

Sheringham added: “Manchester United is still a massive draw for any player and playing for the club is still a highlight of anyone’s career.

“Would Alexander Isak consider joining United if a bid came in? Without a doubt. I’m not saying a deal will get done but he would be the perfect signing for United.

“He can lead the line and score goals and could be a statement signing for the new regime. He is full of confidence at the moment and could lead by example.”

Spanish international’s refusal to “accept his exit” has “complicated” matters for La Liga giants in their race for Rashford – report

Manchester United are plotting to move Marcus Rashford on this January after the forward revealed his desire to leave and try a new adventure.

AC Milan, who were in pole position not too long ago, have since moved on to other targets leaving Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund to fight over the Mancunian.

And while the Englishman’s heart is set on a move to the Catalan giants, Barca are not finding it easy to come up with funds owing to La Liga’s 1:1 rule.

Which is why they would prefer to move on Ansu Fati in order to make room for the United No 10. But so far, the Spaniard has refused to leave, thereby complicating matters for the Camp Nou outfit.

Barcelona struggling due to Ansu Fati’s reluctance to depart

As revealed by SPORT, Barcelona are in a hurry to figure out a way out of this conundrum because Dortmund are advancing very fast with their negotiations with the England international.

Rashford, who has not played a single minute since being dropped from the Manchester derby squad, is desperate for action which is why he is pushing for an early resolution.

However, while Barca could drag this process till February 3, Dortmund are ready to offer a loan proposal and tie up matters by this week itself.

“FC Barcelona cannot afford to rest on their hands in their attempt to sign Marcus Rashford. His arrival at the Blaugrana club could be very complicated if the operation is delayed too long.

“The reason for the urgency for Barça is the great interest shown by Borussia Dortmund in securing his loan for the second half of the championship.

            Dortmund in pole position

“Barça do not want to rush and the first intention is to close the exit of Ansu Fati so that Rashford can take his place in the team, but as long as the striker does not accept the exit, the arrival of a name that Hansi Flick likes very much becomes complicated.

“Rashford does not want to be out of action for any longer. Barça is the best option at all levels, but the club must ensure financial fair play to sign him.  It all depends on whether Rashford wants to wait for FC Barcelona until February 3 or opt for Dortmund this week.”

Hansi Flick is a great admirer of the Carrington graduate but unless Barca can get their finances in order, Dortmund could be the one to take advantage.

While United would prefer a permanent solution, Rashford’s humongous wages and his asking price means a loan exit is the only possibility at this stage of the season.

INEOS hope the Manchester-born star can regain his form during the loan spell and in the process, be sold for a high fee in the summer that will count as pure profit owing to his homegrown status.

Trouble on the cards: PL rivals ready to “hijack” United’s deal for Dorgu, INEOS will need to act fast – report

Manchester United suffered yet another humiliating Premier League defeat at home on Sunday, this time to bogey team Brighton and Hove Albion.

After the game, Ruben Amorim claimed this is the worst United team in history and warned fans that things will get a lot worse before it eventually improves.

That message seemed to wake up INEOS with the Red Devils linked with a sensational move for Patrick Dorgu of Lecce on Monday.

It has been clear for quite sometime now that left wingback is an area of concern with right-back Diogo Dalot forced to play in that position due to Luke Shaw’s injury-enforced absence while Tyrell Malacia has struggled since his return from long-term injury.

              INEOS spring into action

The Netherlands international is expected to depart soon and thankfully, the new co-owners seem to have finally realised the importance of helping the head coach in this window with the club staring at a relegation scrap.

The Serie A side are looking to earn as much as €40 million from the Danish star’s sale with United looking to complete a deal for around €10 million less.

However, it will not be a straightforward deal to complete if TBR Football are to be believed. They have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are also eyeing the 20-year-old and are ready to “hijack” United’s proposed deal.

“Manchester United have been assessing left-wing backs this month and Patrick Dorgu might be the chosen option with talks having commenced, sources have told TBR Football.

              Spurs also looking at Dorgu

“The Red Devils are set to face competition for his signature though as Tottenham Hotspur are one of several clubs who have also shown an interest.”

The defender is eager to move to the Premier League and could be the perfect fit for Amorim’s 3-4-3 system. He already has three goals and one assist for Lecce this season.

The Denmark international has the experience of playing as a wingback for his current club and is very versatile and also capable of playing on either flank.

There has been a lot of interest from within Italy as well as from England and it would be quite the coup if the Red Devils can pull this deal off.

Man Utd transfer: ‘Secret agreement’ for January signing as Amorim demands incomings before sales

Man Utd transfer: ‘Secret agreement’ for January signing as Amorim demands incomings before sales

Patrick Dorgu and Lecce have a ‘secret agreement’ in place as Man Utd look to get a deal for the left-back over the line, according to reports.

The Red Devils are hoping to bring in new faces before the end of the January transfer window with rumours they could have to sell before they can buy.

A 3-1 defeat to Brighton on Sunday highlighted the need to provide Ruben Amorim with reinforcements with his squad not set up to get the most out of his formation, philosophy and style of play.

That has led to rumours that the Man Utd boss sees left-back as a key position that needs strengthening with Tyrell Malacia potentially leaving, while Luke Shaw is extremely injury prone.

Despite links to Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, it appears that the Red Devils’ top target is Lecce’s Dorgu.

Both respected journalist David Ornstein and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano have confirmed talks between Man Utd and the Serie A club over a potential January transfer.

Romano also revealed that Dorgu wants to join Man Utd, he wrote on X: ‘Manchester United are set to open formal talks with Lecce for Patrick Dorgu, no bid has been sent so far.

‘As exclusively revealed two weeks ago, he’s high on list as Kerkez and Nuno Mendes are still too expensive. Dorgu, 100% keen on move… Lecce want around €40m.’

And now GiveMeSport (via UtdDistrict) claim that there is a ‘secret agreement’ in place between Dorgu and Lecce as Man Utd are told what they need to do to make a deal happen in January.

Despite Romano’s claims that Man Utd might have to pay €40m (£34m) to land Dorgu, UtdDistrict claims:

‘According to GiveMeSport, the new contract that Dorgu signed in October 2024 came with a secret verbal arrangement between the player and his Serie A outfit that, should a big club come calling, they would not stand in his way.

‘Provided that an offer came in that Lecce would find acceptable, which seems to sit at around £30 million, they would let him leave without much of a fight.

‘Dorgu is currently on a wage of around £10,000 a week, but should he move to United, this would likely increase by a significant amount.’

There is no doubt that Man Utd need to sell players to fund any incomings this month but Amorim is demanding that the Red Devils try to get players in before letting bodies leave.

                The Daily Mail claims:

‘Amorim is keen to strengthen his options before letting players out with United facing Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday and still in the FA Cup.’

Shearer claims Man Utd are ‘worse’ under Amorim than with Ten Hag: ‘The players just can’t do it

Shearer claims Man Utd are ‘worse’ under Amorim than with Ten Hag: ‘The players just can’t do it

Premier League legend Alan Shearer claims Man Utd are “worse” under Ruben Amorim than they were with Erik ten Hag after their 3-1 loss to Brighton.

The Red Devils lost 3-1 to Brighton on Sunday with Amorim’s side remaining in 13th position in the Premier League table after another disappointing performance.

Man Utd had given fans hope they were about to turn their fortunes around under the Portuguese head coach with impressive displays against Liverpool in the Premier League and Arsenal in the FA Cup.

But their win against Southampton in midweek and their loss against Brighton in their last two matches have set alarm bells ringing again among the Old Trafford faithful.

Shockingly, Amorim even admitted that his Man Utd side are “the worst team maybe in the history” of the club in his post-match interview.

Amorim said: “We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United.

“I am saying that because we have to acknowledge that and change it. Here you go: your headlines.

“It’s unacceptable to lose so many games. For any Premier League club, so imagine Manchester United?

“The opponents are better than us in many details. I am just here to help my players, but we need to understand we are breaking all the bad records.

“In 10 games in the Premier League, we won two. I know that. Imagine what this is [like] for a United fan. Imagine what this is [like] for me. We are getting a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. I have full knowledge of that.”

And former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer reckons Man Utd are “worse now than they were under Ten Hag” after the Dutchman was replaced by Amorim in November.

Shearer said on The Rest Is Football podcast: “They’re actually worse now than they were under Ten Hag because of what this manager wants to do with his system.

“They can’t play the way he wants to play. The players just can’t do it.”

Marcus Rashford leaving Manchester United during the ongoing winter transfer window is looking increasingly unlikely, reports Sky Sports.

Rashford has not featured in United’s last nine games across all competitions, having publicly stated that he is “ready for a new challenge” away from Old Trafford.

He was once again left out of the squad on Sunday as United suffered a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion.

After the final whistle, Ruben Amorim told reporters that it was Rashford’s own decision not to be part of the squad. Amorim also insisted that he would not reinstate a player he does not believe to be “the best for the team.”

Rashford has not been short of suitors, with the likes of AC Milan, Juventus, Napoli, Como, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur all thought to be interested in signing him on loan this month.

However, his hefty £325,000-per-week wages have ensured that any transaction is not easy to get done.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Dortmund are leading the race for Rashford, with a medical even possibly taking place later this week.

However, Sky Sports have now suggested that Rashford may not get his desired move before transfer deadline day on February 3rd.

According to the news outlet, “A deal for Marcus Rashford to leave Manchester United in this window is looking increasingly difficult.”

“Borussia Dortmund will continue to push but the finances remain a big issue as they would require United to contribute a substantial percentage of his wages.”

“United are understood to be relaxed over the situation.”

A deal for Marcus Rashford to leave Manchester United in this window is looking increasingly difficult: the club are understood to be relaxed 😌

Alan Shearer claims Manchester United have become worse since the arrival of Ruben Amorim

Manchester United’s disastrous season hit another low this weekend with Brighton comfortably dispatching Ruben Amorim’s side at Old Trafford.

Goals from Yankuba Minteh, Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter sandwiched a Bruno Fernandes penalty, giving Fabian Hurzeler a fine away win in Manchester.

The defeat leaves United in wretched run of form that has seen them win just one game in their last eight, discounting the shootout success in the FA Cup against Arsenal which came after a backs-to-the-wall 1-1 draw.

INEOS made the decision to cut ties with Erik ten Hag earlier in the campaign after a poor start left United in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

However, fortunes haven’t changed since the arrival of Ruben Amorim with United winning just three league games since the Portuguese coach was appointed.

As reported by The Mirror, Premier League legend Alan Shearer has provided a damning verdict of United’s recent form, claiming they have got worse under their new head coach.

Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, Shearer says United have failed to improve under the new regime and feels the players are simply not suited to Amorim’s system.

“They’re actually worse now than they were under Ten Hag, because of what this manager wants to do with this system. The way he wants to play, the players just can’t do it,” he said.

Amorim was, himself, scathing in his assessment of his sides recent form, claiming they ‘maybe the worst in the history of Manchester United’ with Shearer also left dumfounded by the up-and-down nature of United’s recent showings.

“It’s so unusual that you’ve got one of, if not, the biggest club in the world and the manager is coming out and saying ‘this is the worst side in their history’ because of where they are and some of their performances.

Last week and the week before, we were saying how well they performed at Arsenal and how well they performed at Liverpool. Yet, a week later, he is coming out and saying they are the worst in their history, it’s incredible,” said Shearer.

The former England striker added that given the off-the-field chaos taking place at Old Trafford Amorim is on a “free pass” until the end of season where he will be expected to make major changes to his first team squad.

However, United’s form must improve in the meantime, otherwise they will spend the rest of the campaign embroiled in an embarrassing fight to stay in the division.

United are next in action this coming Thursday, as Rangers travel to Old Trafford for Matchday 7 of the Europa League.
