Chelsea star drops Garnacho transfer hint as Man Utd receive ‘offer’ from the Blues

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has dropped a hint that Man Utd winger Alejandro Garnacho could join the Blues after he ‘liked’ an Instagram post about their attempts to sign the Red Devils star.

The Red Devils are now reportedly entertaining offers for Garnacho as the Argentina international looks set to leave before the end of the transfer window.

Despite his obvious talent, Garnacho is struggling to fit into new Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim’s formation and style of play, although he delivered a lively performance in their 2-1 win over Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Napoli, who have sold Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain, have been particularly keen on Garnacho and some reports in Italy claim they have made two bids for the Man Utd winger.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Napoli are also looking at a deal for Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi as their attempts to sign Garnacho stall, while Chelsea have firmly entered the race.

Romano wrote on X on Thursday: ‘Chelsea are set to approach Man United for Alejandro Garnacho, as expected. Napoli remain keen but no agreement at €50m package, rejected by Man United; now also working on Adeyemi deal as revealed. Chelsea spoke to player’s camp and will now discuss with Man United.’

Before later adding: ‘Chelsea and Alejandro Garnacho, official approach plus formal bid to follow as reported earlier. Man United insist on €70m fee, not an easy one but Chelsea plan to try.’

However, TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edu wrote on Thursday that Chelsea have now ‘made an offer’ for Garnacho and that his priority is to stay in the Premier League.

Edu wrote on X: ‘Chelsea have made an offer for Alejandro Garnacho. He wants to stay in the Premier League.’

And Chelsea defender Cucurella ‘liked’ a post from Romano on Instagram on Thursday which said that Chelsea are ‘now set to approach’ Man Utd for Garnacho.

Man Utd boss Amorim did little to dampen the speculation surrounding Garnacho on Thursday night by refusing to rule out the Argentinian leaving.

Amorim said: “I’m focused on the games and he’s here.

“He’s a player for Manchester United. He was really important for us today and let’s see in the next days.”

On Garnacho, Amorim added: “I think he’s improving in every aspect of the game.

“You can see it until 90 mins he’s always there recovering and helping, sometimes showing some frustration and that is good because he wants more. I think he has potential to be so much better in every situation in the game. What I can say is he understood what I was trying to do, was really clear, I just want to help them but in the end it’s them that do the job.”

Mikel Arteta plays things a little too safe at Arsenal and Manchester City have their own ‘mentality problem. Both could learn plenty from Liverpool.

      All-time worst pundits
Cracking finish to the United Rangers game last night
, but can we please agree that Rio and Ally make the worst punditry team and are the ones most likely to force you to switch off the sound.

Almost no tactical insight (Rio’s only ever insight in every game is “They’re going man-to-man all over the pitch” – well no sh*t Sherlock), highly annoying extreme accents, ridiculous bias throughout and the never-ending repeating of the same tired cliches.

Starting every sentence with “You know what…” well no, I don’t know what you’re gonna say but for Pete’s sake just say it – you don’t need the preface every time. The other most annoying piece is “To be honest” or Allys “I’ve got to be honest with you” – well what the f$&k are you doing the rest of the time – lying?

FFS – can the broadcasters at least invest in some basic elocution and English lessons for their chosen pundits – it won’t cost much and will stop them ruining the sporting spectacle. I understand the desire to dumb down the commentary to appeal to the masses, but this is getting ridiculous.
      The Big P

      Bah humbug
To gloss over our struggle to victory over mighty Rangers, let’s talk about City instead.

Apparently, having learned nothing from their 130 charges and general rule breaking, they’ve not only tapped up a young player from Spain but, having been knocked back by the club, actually encouraged him to pay the funds to cancel his existing contract so he can join them for free.

      So that’s nice.

Btw if we sell Garnacho for £45m we have enough – thanks to the daft way football finances work now – to buy both Dorgu and Alvaro, as well as Edwards, Angel Gomes and Inacio to add depth to defence. We just need to get this done and stop haggling for £5m because without those additions, nothing will improve.

      The big problem for Arsenal
After reading recent mailboxes and seeing the saturation of opinions on Arteta, I thought what was clearly needed was yet another mail on the topic (from an objective fan of a direct rival).

Generalising for a second, I feel that a number of arguments from the ‘Arteta Out’ camp have at their heart a slightly unrealistic comparative stick which they chose to beat him with.

Sure, he may not be Kenny Charisma and can at times come across quite coldly in interviews (as does Pep), and yes, Lego do manufacture his hair. However, I feel it is wrong to frame as complete failure the fact that he hasn’t managed to win the premiership in his 5 years in charge.

What he has managed to do is embed Arsenal in the discussion about who should be the favourites each season and that shouldn’t be sniffed at, particularly when considering where the club had regressed to towards the end of Wenger’s reign. I live within a mile of the Emirates and can count a number of Arsenal fans as close friends and although frustrations are aired, they overwhelmingly appreciate that it’s great to be back in the mix with all the exciting ups and downs that it brings.

Arsenal certainly can’t be accused of being ‘soft’ now and you get the sense that the dressing room are fully on message re what they are trying to do.

Good player purchases have been made – Rice being a prime, if expensive example, alongside Timber and Raya – but I very much recognise the frustration held in some circles of not having an out-and-out goal-scorer up top – I don’t think Havertz is ‘an ashtray’ but nor do I think he is ‘the answer’.

However, any perceived failing to address the goal scorer point should be directed at the club more than the manager – we simply don’t know how much Arteta has been pressing behind the scenes for a top top forward.

But can he get them over the winning line in the prem ?

This is where I can see something that in my mind is holding him / them back.

I’m a believer that in order to walk away with the prem title, you have to go out there and grab it. It has been quite telling to me that when Arsenal were in the early season cycle of finishing games with 10 men, that they weren’t exactly kicking the door down to try to get 3 points. Man City away is a completely acceptable draw – Arsenal were really good that day – but the other games felt like he would have taken the 1 point if immediately offered after the red card. That’s the wrong mindset for me. Also, it didn’t feel that Arsenal were really going for it in Liverpool’s league visit to the Emirates this season (admittedly with a slightly weakened team).

One of the most fascinating and enjoyable games I’ve watched for Liverpool this season was the home draw against Fulham where Robertson was sent off early doors. That is the day Slot went a long way up in my estimations (he was at a pretty decent level in my mind already if the truth be told).

He (and his coaching staff) identified how Liverpool could play the game and create situations that gave us numerical advantages in areas of the pitch, whilst still having cover at the back, all with a man down – so clever. Effectively it boiled down to have 1 in midfield when we had the ball and relying on incisive passing from the back to create overloads up top.

The point is ‘he went for it’.

So the race continues to be the one team to get over the winning line in the title race. (….showing my age here) it’s a bit like the ‘It’s a Knockout’ game where you had a number of giants fighting to get through one small opening in a wall – plenty of jostling, some getting knocked over along the way (“.. and here come the Belgiums !”), but what I don’t recall seeing is anyone win it who was playing it safely.

You get the parallels I’m trying to make here.

There is so far to go in this title race – the most exciting rides have dramatic ups and downs, the faster the better (.. and preferably not bumbling around with the handbrake on).

      Regards,
Sparky (LFC) (Random player chants – “Philogene is not my lover….” (…struggling with the second line though if the truth be told))

      High over-performance
I saw an interesting snippet from Ian Graham’s (Data geek at Liverpool) book, “How to win the premier league”. It looked at manager over performance.

The thing that stood out was that it said Ancelotti teams never over performed whereas Klopp ones did. That was part of the recruitment analysis that went into us hiring Klopp (and perhaps Slot too).

What I have been wondering as Pep opens the chequebook is do his teams actually over perform? Or is it just a billion pound squad broadly performing as expected? I realise spending money isn’t strictly easy so I’m not denigrating that either; think what Man Utd would give for a manager who spends money with some level of competence.

I’m always drawn to how his transfer dealings at Barcelona actively made them worse. At Bayern he really didn’t achieve anything of note and at Man City he’s spent ludicrous sums to win lots of league titles but very little in Europe. For the money spent is the team over/under performing and if he’s such a good coach why is he spending £100m this January instead of coaching the team better?

I’d love to see what Ian’s model thinks of Pep the manager as opposed to Pep the assembler of expensive football teams.

      Nobody wins forever
It wasn’t that long ago I wrote a mail arguing that perhaps pep isn’t as good a manager as people believe and that he isn’t the kind of manger who can get a good tune out of a bad violin in the same way that fergie, klopp or Brian Clough could.

Take away his expensive toys and he struggles. He had lost one game at the time when I said it and people (rightly? ) said I was premature in predicting cities struggles. When I said that I didn’t base it on cities results I based it on their performances.

What I said then is still true now, and while he did pick up a couple of big wins he didn’t do it in the trophy that counted (champions league) and saw his side crumble and throw away a lead again. That’s not injuries, when you’re ahead and lose it that’s a mentality problem.

Towards the end of his time with both Bayern and Barca the same thing was happening (particularly in Europe) and he was also falling out with players and staff members (at Bayern the club doctor and Barca the club president).

Someone else a while ago said maybe klopp had the last laugh because he left when he realised his tank was empty and so isn’t suffering the embarrassing fall that guardiola is. There some truth to that but not entirely , for a start I don’t think klopp will ever be laughing at peps trophy cabinet no matter how timely his exit was. Secondly even if pep lost every game and got relegated he’ll leave city as the greatest hero in the clubs history (assuming none of it is stricken from the books )

Every team has their day. Every manager does too. Some know when to get out and retain their dignity. Some hang around too long and become bitter as their success becomes more rare. Pep isn’t there yet, but he seems to be on that path.

      The Spurs dream
Not sure if you didn’t do Spurs because it’s daft to imagine Spurs doing a transfer but here would be my semi realistic hope for a dream window:

      Sell/Send Back: Richarlison, Bissouma, Werner….Romero

Bissouma has 18 months remaining and is not good. Richarlison is injured. A lot. And is not very good. The club would have to pay the remainder of Werner’s wages for the season but given he’s also injured, and proper shite, send him back – shouldn’t have ever returned in the first place. A joke that he was.

Romero’s value isn’t increasing, and he’s probably the one player the club could turn into a profit.

Sign: Delap, Dibling, Tomori, and Douglas Luiz.

City signing Marmoush and the contract extension of Haaland means it’s highly unlikely they’ll activate the return clause of Delap. Ipswich would be mad to sell him but equally they’d be mad to not look at, say, a £20m mark up on a player they just bought.

Dibling is perfect to replace the worryingly poor Johnson, who looks better as a replacement rather than starter. Dibling is injured too, so will fit right in. Saints can keep him for the remainder of the season.

Tomori would be ideal in so many ways. Home grown. Londonder. So that won’t happen.

Douglas Luiz – loan to buy. We’ve done this with Juve before, successfully. Luiz is superb, and something just hasn’t clicked at Juve, would be welcome…

Do that, and watch Tottenham secure premier league survival with a whopping three games to spare.

Oi Daniel of Cambridge! Are you having a laugh?

United are robbing Napoli of 50 million. Garnacho is worth about 15, tops. The guy couldn’t beat an egg. Had a strong start to his career off the bench, a worldie against Everton and that’s about it. You know who else scored a worldie? Tony Yeboah. Was he any good? Not really.

Just thank your lucky stars that Napoli see your rejects and think oh I’ll have some of that crap please. 70 million my arse!!

      Some thoughts
Jason Soutar, F365—that inclusion of Tsimikas in the worst prem players by club seemed harsh and borderline criminal, but I do understand by metric he’s been our lowest rated on the season.  I myself don’t particularly rate the Greek scouser, but he’s the only one on your list closer to a 7.0 than 6.0, and he’s probably had his best ever season in red whatever that’s worth.

Rob, South London—cannot envision another Crystanbul with this edition of Liverpool side, but know better than to tempt fate.  That Ted Lasso ground does often provide for tough sledding.  If you’re doing the Poznan deep into 90′ that day, sadly I’ll probably recollect your email with spite.

Peter G, Pennsylvania—had a good mate (I’ve since lost touch with) who was die-hard LA Rams; when Warner won them that ring with St Louis he was made up nonetheless, geography be damned.  Re NFL though, what do you make of a corollary I’ve floated here before, that Tottenham Hotspur = LA Chargers of the prem.

Eden Hazard, somewhere—I do reckon you were a superior footballer to Mo Salah (on pure talent, tekkers, flair, wow factor), but to be fair you probably have higher cholesterol numbers than the Egyptian king don’t you.

      Tickers
      Boss/Folks

I have always liked the work of Mr Tickner. His gallows humour as a Spurs fan is entirely understandable and probably mirrored by most of his mates, but on your site we see his very entertaining take on it – a take which I recall was basically plagiarised by Jonathan Liew in the Graun a few weeks ago, discussing the “unseriousness” of Spurs like it was a revelation. I was going to write in to highlight it, but I think I went to the pub instead.

Any which road up, I had always assumed that the 365 team was stacked with high-flying 20- and 30-something journo stars (with the obvious exception of Eeyore’s stunt double, Johnny Nic, who I assumed existed mainly to find a cloud anywhere anybody detected a silver lining. I should also say that is by no means a criticism…).

So by a long roundabout route, I come to the point. I read Mr Tickner’s article tonight and see a reference to Yazz and the Plastic Population and their (her?) hit “The Only Way is Up”, released in 1988 when I was 15 and most contributors to this site were not even glints in their parents eyes, or at best the screaming offspring of a post-pub romantic moment.

So my question is, is Dave Tickner a late 80s/early 90s retro freak, or is he an old bugger like me (and Nicholson) who hides it better than most?

      Would be interested to know

      Cheers

Ferdinand picks out ‘non-existent’ Man Utd player in the Red Devils’ win over Rangers

Ferdinand picks out ‘non-existent’ Man Utd player in the Red Devils’ win over Rangers

Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand claims summer signing Joshua Zirkzee was “non-existent” in the Red Devils’ 2-1 win over Rangers.

Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers equalised in the 88 minute at Old Trafford on Thursday night after a Jack Butland own-goal had given Man Utd the lead.

But Bruno Fernandes struck in the second minute of injury time to give Man Utd a valuable three points as they look to automatically qualify out of the Europa League group stage.

The Red Devils have been having a poor season with Ruben Amorim’s side currently 13th in the Premier League table after 20 matches.

One of the reasons for their lowly position in the Premier League is their terrible goals output with only Crystal Palace, Everton, Ipswich Town and Southampton scoring fewer than Man Utd this season.

Much of that blame has been put on the strikers with Marcus Rashford – who wants a “new challenge” away from Old Trafford – Rasmus Hojlund and Zirkzee all struggling to score consistently.

Zirkzee, in particular, has come in for stick after signing from Bologna for £36.5m in the summer transfer window, with the Netherlands international scoring just four goals in 32 appearances in all competitions.

The Man Utd forward endured another indifferent match against Rangers with the Dutchman having just four touches in the opposition’s box.

Commenting on Zirkzee’s performance, former Rangers striker Ally McCoist said on TNT Sports: “I think he’s done alright Zirkzee but I’ll say it again: I think from Manchester United’s point of view you’d like to see more of a goalscoring threat as well as he played.”

But Ferdinand was a bit harsher, claiming that Zirkzee was “non-existent” in the first half before being substituted on 88 minutes by Ruben Amorim.

Ferdinand added: “I thought he was non-existent in the first half to be honest but I thought he improved in the second half.

“He still wasn’t a real threat on the goal but they got their goal in the end.”

“He has got to bring that belief and that confidence out of himself. In football, there is always another game and a next opportunity.

“Josh came on against Arsenal and really changed the game for us and to score that winning penalty probably gave him a lot of confidence and belief that he belongs at this football club.

“The fans have been brilliant with him. We have amazing fans that stick with us through thick and thin. When times are tough they really get behind you and support you.

Man Utd ‘prepare first offer’ for Real Madrid man as Red Devils ‘lead race’ for Arsenal star

Man Utd are preparing an offer to sign Real Madrid winger Brahim Diaz ahead of the January transfer deadline, according to reports.

The Red Devils are crying out for reinforcements after Ruben Amorim branded his squad as “maybe the worst team in the history” of Man Utd.

Amorim’s comments came after Man Utd lost 3-1 to Brighton at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday with the Red Devils 13th in the table after 22 matches.

Despite encouraging performances against Liverpool and Arsenal earlier this month, the signs have not been good in their last two matches that Amorim’s players are understanding what their coach wants from them.

And now Man Utd are clearly attempting to bring in new players that will compliment Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation and start helping the Red Devils move forward.

Man Utd winger Alejandro Garnacho has been the subject of interest from Napoli and Chelsea with the latter reportedly putting a bid in for the Argentina international on Thursday.

And that has led to the Red Devils to look for a replacement who fits into Amorim’s tactics with a report in Spanish website Fichajes claiming that Real Madrid’s Diaz – who can play on the right, left or centre of attacking midfield – is now a target.

The report claims that Man Utd ‘want to sign’ Diaz and are ‘preparing first offer’ for the Morocco international, who has been used sparingly by Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti this season.

Man Utd see Diaz ‘as the ideal player to bring creativity to the team, especially in the offensive area, where they are looking to strengthen their squad’.

‘Interest from Man Utd ‘is not new, but talks could accelerate in the coming days’ with Amorim valuing ‘the player’s versatile profile, capable of adapting to different positions in attack and creating imbalance against tight defences.’

Another player who could be arriving at Old Trafford is Arsenal talent Ayden Heaven with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano insisting Man Utd are ‘leading the race for the youngster.

Romano wrote on X: ‘Manchester United have made contact to Arsenal for 18 year old talent Ayden Heaven. Man United are leading the race to sign Heaven while Eintracht Frankfurt and Barça have made approaches. Arsenal have also offered new deal.’

Former Man Utd defender Denis Irwin insists it’s “going to take time” for the Red Devils to be able to challenge for the Premier League title again after a decade of poor recruitment.

Irwin said on Stick to Football: “It’s been a difficult ten years [post-Sir Alex Ferguson]. Everyone kind of knew it was going to be a difficult period after Sir Alex left. They’ve had a lot of experienced managers – Ole [Gunnar Solskjær] as well – that have looked like they’re going to do something, but that light has just closed.

“They’ve won cups, like Liverpool did in their quiet period, but not been anywhere near the league in the last ten years. It’s going to take time. I’ve said before, it’s down to the players.

“The manager can organise [the players], he likes a 4-3-3, but it’s literally down to the players. You wouldn’t say [Manchester] United’s recruitment over the last ten years has been great either – that’s the biggest problem.”

Ruben Amorim ‘blocks’ Man Utd winger departure despite ‘agreement in place’ for transfer

Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim has blocked Real Betis’ loan move for Antony while they are still light in attacking areas, according to reports.

The Red Devils, who lost 3-1 to Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday, have been having a terrible season with Amorim’s side currently 13th in the the table.

Antony, who signed from Ajax for £85m in 2022, has played 407 minutes in all competitions this season over 14 appearances, three of which have been in the starting XI.

His time in the team has slightly improved since the arrival of Amorim as manager but it was understood that the new Man Utd head coach is unlikely to stand in the way of his exit from Old Trafford.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano gave his “here we go” to a loan deal, as Real Betis agreed a temporary transfer until the end of the season with Man Utd for Antony.

Romano wrote on X on Monday: “Antony to Real Betis, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties with Man United too.

“Documents being checked; then time for travel and medical tests. United will let him leave on loan deal with 𝐧𝐨 buy clause. He’ll be formally back to United in June.”

However, Spanish publication Diario de Sevilla (via Sport Witness) claim that Man Utd ‘haven’t sanctioned a move because of Ruben Amorim’ despite all parties agreeing to a loan deal.

It’s claimed that Man Utd boss Amorim wants to secure a replacement before he allows Antony out on loan, Diario de Sevilla adds: ‘This shortage of attackers, precisely, is what motivates Amorim not to unblock Antony’s definitive departure.’

Antony came off the bench for six minutes as Man Utd lost to Brighton at the weekend and he was in Amorim’s squad again as the Red Devils beat Scottish side Rangers 2-1 in the Europa League group stage on Thursday night.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian, who moved to Real Betis in the summer, insists that Antony’s potential new team-mates “will be here to help him” if the deal gets over the line.

Adrian told Marca when asked about the Antony speculation: “If the move ends up happening he will be come to help the team and show the best version of himself.

“The doors are open to him and we will be here to help him all the time.

“There is no doubt that he can contribute with the magic that he has. We saw this version of him when he was playing for Ajax.”

Ruben Amorim ‘not fully aware’ of Man Utd financial issues with boss ‘frustrated’ over transfer ‘inactivity’

Man Utd did not make Ruben Amorim fully aware of their financial situation as the Red Devils boss becomes ‘frustrated’ over lack of January transfer activity, according to reports.

The Red Devils could lose more than one of their academy products in the January transfer window with Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho all linked with moves away this month.

Garnacho has seemed closest to an exit with reports that Man Utd are ready to accept a bid from Napoli if the Serie A club bid €65m for the Argentina international, while Premier League rivals Chelsea are also keen.

Rashford is more likely to leave on a loan deal, rather than a permanent transfer, because of the Red Devils’ asking price and his high wage demands. Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Monaco and Marseille are among the clubs reportedly interested in signing Man Utd forward Rashford in the January window.

The possibility of these players moving on has come with Man Utd dangerously close to breaking the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. Man Utd sent a letter to Red Devils fans The 1958 fan group in which it wrote that the Premier League club are ‘in danger of failing to comply with profitability and sustainability rules/financial fair play requirements in future years’.

And now the Manchester Evening News claims that Man Utd boss Amorim has become ‘frustrated’ at the ‘inactivity so far in the winter transfer window‘. The report adds:

‘Sources have suggested Amorim was not fully aware of United’s financial issues when he agreed to take over as head coach in November. United sources have denied that and insist Amorim was given a full and transparent breakdown of the club’s financial realities when it was outlined that the days of spending £200million+ every summer were over.’

Amorim arrived at Man Utd, who are currently 13th in the Premier League table, in November to replace Erik ten Hag – who was sacked by the Red Devils board at the end of October – and results and performances have been just as mixed under the Portuguese head coach as his predecessor. The report continues:

‘Amorim was informed by the United hierarchy that they would have to sell to finance any incomings this month. However, United are adamant that they would only sell players out of choice and there is no pressure for a fire-sale in January. ‘United remain open to offloading players this month and could be forced into a cut-price sale of Alejandro Garnacho, recently valued at £73.76m by the CIES Football Observatory.’

“One to watch in closing days”: Deadline day exit for United superstar not ruled out as gigantic offer remains on the table – report

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim decided to hand Toby Collyer his first European start on Thursday against Rangers despite Casemiro’s presence in the matchday squad.

The 21-year-old did quite well against the Scottish giants and is likely to get more chances down the line, which does not bode well for the Brazilian.

The former Real Madrid superstar’s last start under the Portuguese tactician came almost four weeks ago and in most of his appearances under Amorim, he has failed to provide the intensity that the new coach demands from all his players.

The five-time Champions League winner has started only four games under the ex-Sporting Lisbon boss but is yet to complete 90 minutes.

Casemiro’s prospects do not look good under Amorim

There were talks of the 32-year-old jumping ship and moving to Saudi Arabia to reunite with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr.

However, his contract demands seemed to have scuppered a potential exit with recent reports even going as far as to say that the Saudi Pro League side are no longer interested in the Brazil international.

Which is why Casemiro has also shifted his focus to America with the defensive midfielder attracting plenty of interest from Major League Soccer clubs as relayed by The Peoples Person.

🚨 The Saudi central offer for Casemiro was tabled some weeks ago, however, nothing was agreed or signed, despite the Saudi’s pushing.

However, social media account Sam C who has proven to be a reliable source of inside information from United has claimed that the offer from the Middle East still stands and a deadline day exit remains a possibility.

“The Saudi central offer for Casemiro was tabled some weeks ago, however, nothing was agreed or signed, despite the Saudi’s pushing.

Saudi offer remains on the table

“Understand that Al-Nassr would prefer to get a playmaker midfielder in, rather than a defensive-minded one (like Casemiro) despite Cristiano Ronaldo pushing. One to watch in closing days,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

There was speculation that the Brazilian ace had been offered a £650,000-per-week contract by Al-Nassr. Whether there is any truth to that, only time will tell.

INEOS are desperate to move him on due to his humongous wages of £350,000 gross per week (via capology), which makes him the club’s highest earner.

It makes no sense to keep hold of a bit-part player who earns so much. But whether an exit materialises in the coming days remains to be seen.

United splashed £60 million for his services a couple of years ago and it is safe to say that they will only recoup a fraction of that amount upon his departure. A timely warning not to green light such deals in the future.

“Frustrating”: Ruben Amorim irritated with Ratcliffe and Ineos, the cracks are beginning to appear – report

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has reportedly been left unhappy with the club’s slow movements in the ongoing winter transfer window.

United are yet to make a signing this month and have only sanctioned loan exits for some academy graduates including Ethan Ennis, Joe Hugill and Ethan Williams.

Despite the team’s challenges on the pitch, the hierarchy has yet to provide Amorim with any reinforcements as he strives to guide the club to a strong finish this season.

The Portuguese coach has lost seven of his first 16 matches in charge while trying to implement his preferred 3-4-3 formation.

Now, Samuel Luckhurst of Manchester Evening News reports that Amorim has not been impressed with United’s inactivity in the market so far.

According to Luckhurst, “Ruben Amorim is frustrated by Manchester United’s inactivity so far in the winter transfer window.”

“Sources have suggested Amorim was not fully aware of United’s financial issues when he agreed to take over as head coach in November.”

“United sources have denied that and insist Amorim was given a full and transparent breakdown of the club’s financial realities when it was outlined that the days of spending £200million+ every summer were over.”

It’s understood that Amorm was informed that United would have to sell before recruiting players this month.

However, the Red Devils could be in for a busy few days as the February 3 transfer deadline rapidly approaches.

Antony is on the brink of completing a loan move to La Liga outfit Real Betis after failing to nail down a spot in Amorim’s set-up.

There is also a chance that Marcus Rashford will depart Old Trafford, with a number of clubs including Barcelona, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund interested in signing him on loan.

Additionally, Alejandro Garnacho continues to be strongly linked with an exit, with Napoli and Chelsea pursuing his signature. Meanwhile, United remain in talks with Lecce over a transfer for Patrick Dorgu after their second bid for him was rejected on Friday.

Man Utd transfer: Chelsea ‘raise offer’ for Red Devils star as ‘blockbuster betrayal in the PL is complete’

Chelsea have made an offer of £60m for Alejandro Garnacho as his Man Utd ‘betrayal’ edges closer to completion, according to reports.

The Red Devils are apparently dangerously close to the edge of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) with the Man Utd hierarchy having to be clever to do business in the January transfer window.

Man Utd would have hoped for a quiet transfer window in January but, with things not going as hoped under Ruben Amorim, the Red Devils are entering the market.

Lecce wing-back Patrick Dorgu and a forward player seem top of their shopping list but, in order to do business, it looks like the Red Devils will have to move players on too because of their PSR status.

Garnacho seems like the main player that they could sell for a big fee in this transfer window with Napoli apparently making offers for the Argentina international.

And more recently Chelsea have apparently been weighing up a bid for the Man Utd winger with reports in Spain now claiming the Blues have put a bid in.

It is understood that Chelsea have ‘raised the offer’ put in by Napoli to £60m as they look to complete a ‘blockbuster deal’ for Garnacho in January,

Napoli’s initial offer was said to be around €45m (£38m) and now Premier League side Chelsea have ‘taken the lead with an offer close to £60m’ with the report claiming that ‘the betrayal in the Premier League is complete’.

The report continues: ‘Chelsea’s interest has created tension in the player’s entourage, as a possible arrival at Stamford Bridge would be seen as a “betrayal” by Manchester United fans.’

Former Man Utd defender Paul Parker is now of the view that he “would like” Garnacho to “leave” as he claims “everything has gone to his head”.

Parker recently said: “I have obviously seen that Garnacho is linked to Chelsea. I don’t like Garnacho as a person, but you can’t deny he has some sort of talent. For me it looks like everything has gone to his head and it’s not a good look for a young player.

“He will compete against 37 wingers at Chelsea, and he doesn’t seem like someone who likes competition, so I don’t know what he is on about.

“Obviously, I would like him to leave, and for Man United, it’s fantastic to see that Chelsea wants him, as they usually pay a lot of money for players. It’s great news really, but I don’t expect him to do very well. Why should he change just by going to London?

“He doesn’t stand for pressure, and he is only showing something when being subbed on. Best of luck to him, he needs it. He really needs it, and I hope he gets his head straight very soon.”

According to reports, Manchester United have been ‘offered’ the chance to sign Ajax forward Brian Brobbey amid interest from two Premier League rivals.

The Red Devils were consistently linked with Brobbey while former head coach Erik ten Hag was in charge as they previously worked together at Ajax.

However, this move has yet to come to fruition and other Premier League sides are in the race to sign the forward this month.

The 22-year-old shone last season as he scored 18 goals in his 30 Eredivisie appearances, but his form has dipped this term. He has only netted three goals in his 29 outings in all competitions and could be Premier League-bound.

Following the appointment of Graham Potter, West Ham was initially mooted as his most likely destination as they are in the market for a new forward.

The Hammers could face a fight with Spurs, though. On Friday afternoon, Fabrizio Romano revealed: “Understand Tottenham have also asked for Brian Brobbey loan deal conditions.

“He’s one of the options being considered while West Ham are already in direct talks with Ajax for loan + obligation.

“West Ham remain in contact, Spurs also made an enquiry to be informed.”

A move to Man Utd is also a possibility as a report from GiveMeSport claims they have been ‘offered’ the forward.

                      The report explains:

‘Manchester United are contemplating whether to fight off competition from West Ham United and other Premier League suitors for Ajax star Brian Brobbey after key figures at Old Trafford were offered the chance to pounce as the transfer deadline approaches, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

‘Manchester United could make a last-gasp decision to beat West Ham to the acquisition of Brobbey in a significant transfer twist, according to GMS sources, after both sides joined Tottenham Hotspur and Everton in being contacted by intermediaries in a bid to discover the level of interest heading into the final days of the winter window.

‘Although the Hammers have opened discussions over a temporary move, as Potter aims to bolster the squad he inherited from London Stadium predecessor Julen Lopetegui earlier this month, Amorim has an opportunity to pounce because Ajax are only interested in selling the striker or sanctioning a loan which includes an obligation to buy.

‘The Eredivisie title-chasers’ stance could play into Manchester United’s hands as their preference is to recruit a new marksman on a permanent basis. Ajax are in a strong negotiating position as the Netherlands international still has two-and-a-half-years remaining on a contract.

‘Manchester United are set to switch their attention towards bringing in a new frontman after initially prioritising the acquisition of a left wing-back, GMS sources have learned, and they are among a host of sides to have found out more about Brobbey’s availability as the transfer deadline edges closer.’
