Rashford “extremely unlikely” to play for United again even if Amorim leaves, for this shocking reason – report

Marcus Rashford may have reportedly played his last game for Manchester United, with the forward not expected to line up for the club ever again.

On Sunday evening, United officially confirmed Rashford had completed his loan move to Aston Villa until the end of the season.

It’s understood that the loan agreement contains an option to make the transfer permanent at £40m. Villa will also cover around 75% of Rashfords hefty wages.

Rashford fell out of favour under Ruben Amorim and did not feature for the Red Devils since mid-December.

A January transfer seemed inevitable, with the likes of Barcelona, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona all mentioned to be an interest in him.

However, it was Unai Emery’s side who won the race for Rashford’s signature. It’s understood that Emery personally requested Villa chiefs to get a deal over the line.

Emery is a fan of Rashford and believes he can help the 27-year-old get back to his sensational best.

Over the weekend, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Rashford and Amorim clashed just days into the Portuguese’s appointment as Erik ten Hag’s replacement.

It was stated that Amorim accused Rashford of going on a night out – a claim Rashford denied, to the point of asking his manager to provide proof.

Now, The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson reveals that even if Amorim were to leave United, it’s unlikely Rashford will return to Old Trafford, as his relationship with the club is also almost completely broken.

Jackson wrote for the newspaper, “Marcus Rashford is extremely unlikely to play competitively for Manchester United again even if Ruben Amorim is no longer the head coach, with the relationship between the forward and his boyhood club near irreparable.”

“It is understood, too, that there is no call-back clause in the forward’s loan terms with Aston Villa should he start to score prolifically.”

Rashford may make his Villa debut on Sunday, when the club comes up against Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

“Discussions last week”: Amorim has identified his “prime target” to fix United’s attack but City stand in their way – report

Manchester United need a striker desperately with Ruben Amorim forced to play Kobbie Mainoo up top against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The huge selection gamble was necessitated due to Rasmus Hojlund’s poor form with the Dane not scoring in 12 games prior. Summer signing Joshua Zirkzee has fared little better.

The head coach kept both of them, brought for a combined £100.5 million, on the bench in a clear message to INEOS to try and strengthen the attack.

The new co-owners have already failed in their pursuit of Mathys Tel of Bayern Munich over their demand for making it a permanent switch while deals for Leon Bailey and Christopher Nkunku have also come to nought.

Delap identified as a “prime target”

The United recruitment team are at panic stations at the moment as seen from their late call to Juventus for Dusan Vlahovic.

Whether that can materialise remains to be seen but the Red Devils have also joined the race for Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap as per Express.

Despite the Tractor Boys’ struggles in the Premier League, the 21-year-old has excelled, netting nine goals while also registering two assists so far.

And United held a meeting about potential striker recruits and the England U21 international was identified as a “prime target”. Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada know all about him having worked at Manchester City before.

With Ipswich looking likely to get relegated, the 20-time English league champions could potentially get him on the cheap but cross-town rivals Manchester City could have the last laugh.

They hold a buyback clause worth £29.5million and could activate it and sell him to another club just to thwart the Red Devils.

      City could thwart United

“Manchester United have entered the fray for Ipswich’s sought-after striker Liam Delap. However, United’s pursuit of the Ipswich forward could be thwarted by their city rivals.

The Red Devils’ transfer committee, under the guidance of boss Ruben Amorim, has identified Delap as a prime target following discussions last week.

“The reigning Premier League champions hold a £29.5million buy-back clause on Delap and might choose to activate it, even if only to sell him on for a profit.”

Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are all interested in Delap and while a January window move is unlikely, the summer race looks to be heating up.

Man Utd make hijack attempt for ‘most likely option’ to replace Rodri at Man City

Man Utd make hijack attempt for ‘most likely option’ to replace Rodri at Man City

Man Utd are interested in bringing Man City target Douglas Luiz back to the Premier League on deadline day, according to reports.

The Red Devils are having a rubbish 2024/25 season in the Premier League with Ruben Amorim’s side currently 13th in the table after losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Amorim has struggled to get Man Utd going in the right direction since leaving Sporting CP to replace the sacked Erik ten Hag in November.

The Man Utd squad have struggled to adapt to his formation, playing style and philosophy, with Amorim hoping to bring in players on deadline day to suit his way of playing.

Patrick Dorgu joined from Lecce last week in a deal that will hopefully help the Red Devils on the left-hand side – but Man Utd have still been hopeful of bringing in at least a new attacker.

There haven’t been many midfielders linked with a move to Old Trafford in the winter transfer window but it’s definitely an area that needs improvement.

And chief football reporter for the Daily Mail, Sami Mokbel claims that Man Utd have ‘interest’ in bringing Juventus midfielder Luiz to Old Trafford.

Mokbel wrote on X: ‘Douglas Luiz anticipated return to the Premier League looking difficult. Manchester United have an interest but prospect of any agreement with Juventus not close.’

Man City have been heavily linked with Luiz in January as they look for a midfielder who can replace the injured Rodri for the rest of the season.

Football finance expert Stefan Borson reckons that former Aston Villa man Luiz will likely be added to Pep Guardiola’s side before the deadline.

“I still think the most likely deal of all of them is that Juventus at the 11th hour accept that they can’t get a fee for Douglas Luiz and City sign him on what’s known as a dry loan these days, with no obligation to buy,” Borson told Football Insider.

Also speaking to Football Insider, Paul Robinson revealed why Luiz would be a good asset both while Rodri is out, and why he could cause a positive headache once he’s back.

The former Tottenham and Leeds goalkeeper said: “It seems to be a no-brainer if that’s a position they want. He’s a player that knows the league and he’s a player of high quality. You look at the money that he left the country for.

“He knows the Premier League which is the important thing. He’ll know that midfield role and he’s the perfect fit for it. He’d relish coming back to the Premier League in all honesty.

“Manchester City are not going to get any worse than they have been, they’re going to be on an upward curve from now on, so it’d be a really good time for him to join.

“Also, when Rodri does get back fit, he gives Pep another option because he can play with both of them. He’d give Pep a problem when Rodri was fit as to how to fit him into the team, because I think he’d be a really good signing for them.”

United suffer another blow as loan move for “brilliant” option to solve midfield issues is ruled out – report

Manchester United remain interested in Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz but a deal on the deadline of the winter window will prove “difficult” as the two clubs are “not close” to an agreement, according to a report.

Sami Mokbel (Daily Mail) reveals the Red Devils “have an interest” in the 26-year-old, who joined Juventus from Aston Villa in the summer, but a deal remains an unlikely prospect.

Manchester City and Nottingham Forest have joined United in the hunt for Luiz as the Brazilian international has fallen down the pecking order in Turin under Juventus manager Thiago Motta.

Luiz previously thrived under Unai Emery at Villa Park, establishing himself as one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League last season.

This form earned him the £42 million switch to Serie A but, only six months on, the Old Lady were open to his departure. However, the Italian club were reported to only be considering a transfer or a loan with an obligation to buy.

United, as well as local rivals City, were believed to only be interested in loans with options to buy. This leads Mokbel to contend a deal late in the window will be “difficult” to agree.

“Manchester United have an interest but [the] prospect of any agreement with Juventus [is] not close,” the reporter concludes.

It constitutes yet another blow for United as the club look increasingly unlikely to be able to bring in a much-needed centre-forward before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

An upgrade in central midfield on Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, which Luiz certainly would provide, would have buttressed Ruben Amorim’s squad with energy and technical quality in the middle of the park.

It would also have enabled Bruno Fernandes to return to one of the attacking slots, after being deployed in midfield in recent weeks due to a lack of suitable options to partner Manuel Ugarte.

Luiz, on a loan , even if it was an expensive deal, would have helped provide a temporary solution to a major weakness in the United team, while the Brazilian’s new teammate – Randal Kolo Muani, signed on a loan move from Paris Saint-Germain – could have helped Amorim’s continued issues up front.

Fabrizio Romano says United have “turned down an approach” from Serie A side for their red-hot striking sensation

Manchester United have let go of three attackers in this transfer window and could have lost another if recent reports are anything to go by.

Marcus Rashford has already joined up with Aston Villa on a six-month loan deal while Antony has linked up with Real Betis on a similar contract.

The Mancunian’s loan arrangement includes an option to buy even though the forward wants to join Barcelona. The Brazilian is expected to return to Old Trafford in the summer.

Academy sensation Ethan Wheatley has also departed on a temporary basis, joining League Two side Walsall.

            Biancheri interest

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there was serious interest from Italian side Como for Gabriele Biancheri but the Red Devils have turned down their proposal.

“Understand Manchester United have turned down an approach from Italian side Como for 18 year old talent Gabriele Biancheri,” Romano wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Como have been on a spending spree since their promotion to Serie A this season but United gave them short shrift when it came to their deadline day ask for the talented Wales U19 international.

The 18-year-old, who is currently injured, has been on fire for the academy, netting 16 goals in 17 games across all age groups while also registering one assist.

United will not let him go so easily

The Welsh star has a hat-trick in the FA Youth Cup, as well as three goals in the UEFA Youth League. His form for the U18s has seen him receive increased game time for the U21s, and he has managed to score twice for them.

As relayed by The Peoples Person, Biancheri’s exploits have “already attracted the interest of Amorim and his coaches” and a call up to first-team training is surely on the cards once he returns from injury.

He signed his first professional deal with the club in September 2023 and United had secured his signature after fighting off interest from quite a few Premier League rivals.

Coaches have tipped him to reach the very top and United fans are very excited to see what he can produce once he does make his senior debut with Amorim crying out for help in attacking areas.

“Would only leave if…”: United youngster “set to remain” at Old Trafford in surprise twist – report

“Would only leave if…”: United youngster “set to remain” at Old Trafford in surprise twist – report

Harry Amass is “set to stay” at Old Trafford the remainder of the season despite a number of clubs expressing an interest in signing the Manchester United youngster on loan.

Amass, 17, was one of the breakout stars from the Red Devils’ pre-season tour of the US, starting a number of games for Erik ten Hag’s side due to the ongoing injury issues of senior fullbacks Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw

The defender demonstrated his quality on the ball and physicality off it without making any obvious errors, save for some positioning issues – a natural area any young defender will need to improve.

There had been an expectation this first-team berth could remain heading into the new campaign.

However, Amass returned to the U-21 and U-18 teams after the tour concluded, with Ten Hag preferring to switch Diogo Dalot into the vacant left-back slot. The 17-year-old was included in a few matchday squads, but only due to continued injury concerns in defence.

And this preference for Dalot has continued after Ruben Amorim arrived from Lisbon in November to replace the Dutch coach.

The Sporting CP manager has not included Amass in a single match-day squad while United have dipped into the market in this time to sign but one two young left-sided defenders.

Diego Leon, also 17, will arrive in the summer from Paraguay’s Cerro Porteño while Patrick Dorgu was signed last week in a deal worth a potential £30 million from Serie A side Lecce.

This adds another potential two options for the vacant left wing-back role in Amorim’s squad, though it’s unrealistic to expect Leon to be ready for Premier League football immediately.

But it does further limit Amass’ opportunities for first-team football, despite his excellent technical ability, which has drawn comparisons to his senior teammate, Shaw.

United were open to Amass’ leaving Old Trafford on loan this month if a suitable opportunity arrived which offered the correct environment for the 17-year-old to continue his development.

However, Steve Railston (Manchester Evening News) reveals, this did not materialise and the left-back will remain at the club for the rest of the campaign.

“Sources indicated Amass would only leave United if a suitable club could pitch a convincing plan for his development, and his situation will now be revisited in the summer transfer window,” Railston writes.

The reporter does reveal that Amass is “happy” at Old Trafford, however, and still “hoping to reach the first-team”, despite the arrivals of competition for his spot.

United contact Serie A giants over sensational deadline day deal for 13-goal elite striker – report

Manchester United’s need for a striker can be ascertained from the fact that Ruben Amorim was forced to play Kobbie Mainoo up top against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

It was damning to see both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, signed for over €100 million, sitting on the bench while the head coach picked a defensive midfielder over them.

While the experiment did not pay dividends, it was a clear message to INEOS to try and bring in reinforcements due to the lack of quality in forward areas.

It must be noted that the new co-owners have allowed three forwards, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Ethan Wheatley to leave on loan, thereby further depleting Amorim’s attacking reserves.

                Amorim needs strikers

It looked like United were trying to sign Mathys Tel of Bayern Munich but the Bavarian giants’ last-minute calls for a permanent exit meant the deal failed to materialise.

As relayed by The Peoples Person, Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey and Christopher Nkunku of Chelsea were also being looked at but those moves also have collapsed.

And United seem to be panicking and as revealed by TBR Football, they have contacted Juventus over possibly signing Dusan Vlahovic on deadline day.

The Serb has 13 goals in 28 games this season and with Randal Kolo Muani joining the Turin-based side this January, he has been forced to play a supporting role in recent weeks.

The Bianconeri have also failed to agree a contract extension with the 25-year-old whose current deal ends in 2026. Juve want the striker to agree to take a pay cut while Vlahovic does not intend to do so.

And the Red Devils could take advantage with Arsenal and Aston Villa also reportedly in the race. It is likely to be between United and the Gunners given Villa have already signed Rashford from the Old Trafford side.

                Vlahovic talks on

“TBR Football exclusively understands that both Arsenal and Manchester United have asked about Dusan Vlahovic’s situation at Juventus over the weekend.

“Juventus and Vlahovic have recently reached a stalemate in their talks of a new deal for the striker, which has alerted clubs in the Premier league.

“Juventus have already prepared for Vlahovic’s impending exit with the signing of Randal Kolo Muani.”

The report does not make clear the terms of the deal but owing to United’s PSR woes, it could be most likely a loan deal with an option to buy.

The Serbia international has experience of leading the line for clubs like Juventus and Fiorentina and Amorim could do with someone of his ilk. But whether a deadline day deal can be agreed remains to be seen.

“Never got close”: Romano shuts down January transfer saga as United miss out on another attacking option

Manchester United will not sign Christopher Nkunku on deadline day with the Frenchman never intending to leave Chelsea.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed reports surfacing earlier in the day from Sky Sports Premier League that Nkunku would not make a late switch to Old Trafford, closing off one of many January sagas involving the Red Devils and potential forward reinforcements.

Romano posted on X that “Christopher Nkunku never had any intention to leave Chelsea on loan in January.

“The only possibility was permanent move but never got close with Bayern or Man United despite interest. Chelsea always asked for £65/70m, no movements today.”

United’s attacking woes were laid bare over the weekend, with Marcus Rashford completing a loan move to Aston Villa as Ruben Amorim fielded a starting XI without a single natural striker.

Antony turning in an MVP performance on his debut for Real Betis, who he joined on loan in January, just rubbed salt in the wounds.

Nkunku, who at one point was said to be actively pushing for a move to United, is one of many forwards the club have been linked with in this transfer window.

But the 27-year-old now joins Bayern Munich youngster Mathys Tel on the list of exciting signings which will never materialise, after it was reported yesterday that talks with the German giants broke down.

A potential silver lining for United fans is that Alejandro Garnacho now seems unlikely to join Chelsea this month, as it was expected that Nkunku would be involved in any such deal.

But it does seem to leave Amorim desperately understaffed in the attacking department with just hours to go before the window slams shut.

On current form neither Rasmus Hojlund nor Joshua Zirkzee are at the level required to lead the United line, while Garnacho’s poor finishing means he offers no consistent goal threat.

Amorim will doubtless be dreading facing the rest of the season with his current motley crew of forward options, but there seems to be little movement towards any late signings so far today.

Christopher Nkunku will not leave Chelsea on deadline day despite interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United, according to reports.

France international Nkunku has been linked with Man Utd and German giants Bayern Munich this month.

He has only started three times in the Premier League this season but Chelsea insisted on their £65million price tag, which the Red Devils nor Bayern were willing to pay.

A loan departure was mooted but has not come to fruition with hours left of the January transfer window.

According to The Athletic correspondent David Ornstein, the former RB Leipzig striker ‘is staying at Stamford Bridge’.

Ornstein says Chelsea were willing to sell Nkunku for ‘around £65million’ but Bayern and Man Utd both ‘felt he is worth around £40m’ due to his lack of playing time.

The journalist also confirms the Red Devils ‘did contact Chelsea on Sunday’, asking about a loan deal for the 27-year-old.

Unfortunately for Ruben Amorim, ‘Chelsea did not want to let him go on loan and the player did not want that either’.

The permanent signing of Nkunku has been made even more unlikely after Man Utd failed to sell Marcus Rashford, only loaning him to Aston Villa.

Ornstein does add that Joao Felix could leave on loan on Monday amidst interest from Italian giants AC Milan.

News of Nkunku staying at Chelsea has also been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.

Romano says Nkunku ‘never had any intention’ to leave Chelsea for Man Utd this month.

He said: “Christopher Nkunku never had any intention to leave Chelsea on loan in January. The only possibility was permanent move but never got close with Bayern or Man United despite interest.

“Chelsea always asked for £65/70m, no movements today.”

Real Betis boss’ comments on Antony’s debut will leave United fans even angrier at lack of transfer business

Real Betis boss Manuel Pellegrini described Antony’s debut as “positive” as he backed the Manchester United winger to make his mark at the club.

Last month, Antony sealed a loan move to Betis until the end of the season, after failing to break into Ruben Amorim’s plans at Old Trafford.

On Sunday, he was named in the starting XI for a La Liga clash with Athletic Bilbao. The Brazilian quickly registered an assist as his saved effort was prodded home by a lurking Isco.

Betis twice took the lead and were twice pegged back, with the game finishing 2-2. However, it was a solid first outing for Antony, who was named Player of the Match and was awarded the La Liga MVP award.

During the time he was on the pitch, the 24-year-old managed 40 touches of the ball, an 83% pass accuracy and two key passes.

He also connected with both his long passes and one crossing attempt.

After the final whistle, Pellegrini said [via Manchester Evening News], “Well, I think it was a very positive debut. He’s a quality player.”

“I was talking to him just before the game. I think a good player doesn’t have to be constantly showing off his skills with the ball. He has to play a good game, make few mistakes and do two or three important things: a goal, a good pass, a good cross.”

“I think he was very involved today, especially with the second goal. He had just arrived a couple of days before and I think he’s going to contribute a lot to us.”

The United loanee also spoke to reporters and gave his verdict on his own performance.

“Very happy, very pleased with the first game. The fans, incredible. But a little sad about the draw, but we’re going all out for the next game, where we have to get the three points.”

On how it felt to line up for Betis, he replied, “Very good, I felt very good. Anxious, I was waiting all week for this game. I’m fine.”

He said about his assist for Iscos close-range opener, “Yes, yes, almost, but if any player on the team scores, it is very important for me. The important thing is that the team is well and happy, we are all together.”

“Isco is a star, we know the history he has, the quality he has. In training we are connecting very well. We have to work harder to make this connection grow.”

When asked what he and Pellegrini discussed, Antony answered, “The manager told me to stay calm, he had a lot of experience, we didn’t talk much, he’s a great coach.”

He called on his side to be wary of losing points from winning positions.

“Yes, I think that attention and concentration from set pieces, the details, we have to work on them and not make mistakes. We have to be focused for the 90 minutes to avoid a draw like that.”

Antony told Betis fans, “First of all, thank you very much for everything, to the players, the fans, the coach, the staff. They expect me to be at 100% in every game, I’m going to give my all, we have to work harder to avoid losing points like that.”

The winger could make his second appearance for the Seville outfit on Saturday, when they come up against Celta Vigo.

It’s encouraging to see Antony off to a strong start at Betis, though it may leave a bitter taste for United fans, as the club has yet to replace him or Marcus Rashford with only hours remaining before the transfer window closes.
