United talent lands fantastic international breakthrough after award-winning season

Manchester United rising star Tyler Fletcher has landed fantastic international news after his superb season. Award winner Fletcher has made great strides this season, the highlight of which saw him earn his first-team debut for United. The midfielder made his senior bow in February, when interim head coach Michael Carrick introduced him as a late substitute in the home win over Tottenham Hotspur. Prior to that, Fletcher had originally been named among the substitutes for the Boxing Day fixture against Newcastle United. He subsequently appeared in the matchday squad an additional 11 times in the Premier League, in addition to the Emirates FA Cup tie versus Brighton & Hove Albion. Fletcher’s excellent performances at youth level during the campaign saw him win the 2026 Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year award. He was a regular and prominent presence for the Under-21s in Premier League 2. Additionally, Fletcher turned out for the side against Lincoln City, Barnsley, and Notts County in the EFL Trophy prior to the end of the year. There has also been the experience of facing continental opposition in the Premier League International Cup, including an outing at Old Trafford against Real Madrid Castilla in April. As a further reward for his efforts, it has been confirmed that Fletcher will join Scotland’s training camp in preparation for their World Cup campaign this summer. International boost Scotland have confirmed that Fletcher is one of four youngsters poised to join the senior squad next week at Lesser Hampden. He is joined by James Wilson (Heart of Midlothian), Liam McFarlane (Heart of Midlothian) and Luke Graham (Dundee United). An opportunity for the next generation 👏 James Wilson, Liam McFarlane, Luke Graham and Tyler Fletcher will join the senior Scotland squad for training next week at Lesser Hampden as preparations step up for the @FIFAWorldCup.#FIFAWorldCup — Scotland National Team (@ScotlandNT) May 20, 2026 Discussing the decisions, Scotland boss Steve Clarke said, “When I announced the squad, I made reference to a few young players joining us for training at Lesser Hampden.” “It’s helpful for us, because it boosts our numbers for training – given the staggered arrivals of those who are still playing domestically – and it allows us to take a closer look at some boys who are on our radar.” “It should also be a very positive experience for the players themselves, who will get an insight into what we look for in the senior squad environment, surrounded by top professionals.” “Liam will meet up later in the week and will travel to America with the squad as a training goalkeeper.” Before they make their way to the USA, Canada and Mexico for the World Cup, Scotland have friendlies against Curacao and Bolivia. United set for blockbuster bidding war with Arsenal for magnificent PL superstar, INEOS need to go all guns blazing – report

Manchester United’s hunt for Casemiro’s replacement will be far from straightforward. Their primary target, Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest, seems to prefer a move to Manchester City, while his asking price is no joke either. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is not regarded as a stylistic fit, while Carlos Baleba’s inconsistent form and Brighton’s asking price are creating major roadblocks. Mateus Fernandes of West Ham remains an option, as does Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali. The Italian was previously expected to return to Serie A, but a change in stance is expected. Sandro Tonali set to leave Newcastle That is because his wages and the Magpies’ asking price will prove beyond the reach of Italian clubs. United were also wary of meeting those exorbitant demands until reports emerged of a possible discount. Tutto Juve have an update in this regard. They have claimed Newcastle, desperate to raise funds in order to steer clear of Financial Fair Play concerns, will look to trigger a bidding war for the former AC Milan star. Apart from the Red Devils, Arsenal are also interested in the 26-year-old and Eddie Howe’s team will open the bidding at £69 million. “Failure to participate in European competitions has inevitably impacted the club’s strategies. The English club must meet the financial parameters imposed by the Premier League, and this could lead to the sale of some key players. Among these is Tonali, one of the key players in Newcastle’s development. United have to contend with Arsenal to win the race for Sandro Tonali “The former AC Milan player’s performances have not gone unnoticed by major English clubs. Arsenal and Manchester United have reportedly already been informed of the financial demands required to begin negotiations. “Newcastle have reportedly set a price tag of around €80 million, a very high figure but considered consistent with the player’s value. Newcastle are aware that any offers from Arsenal and Manchester United could turn into an auction capable of further increasing the value of the deal.” Whether United can outbid the Gunners remains to be seen, given their financial might following their Premier League triumph. Hopefully, INEOS can be ruthless when it comes to player sales in order to raise enough cash to win the race for Sandro Tonali, who would be perfect for Michael Carrick‘s style of play. Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is close to striking a deal to sign for Inter Miami as his time in England draws to a close, according to a new report. Até a Morte After four years in a red shirt, Casemiro bid a heartfelt farewell to Old Trafford during Sunday’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest. A special banner was unveiled as the two teams walked out for kick-off, depicting the Brazilian behemoth alongside the message: “Até a Morte” — meaning ‘Until Death’ in Portuguese. Casemiro was clearly moved by the gesture, which was followed by a full outpouring of emotion as he and his family were serenaded by the Theatre of Dreams after the final whistle. While there have been calls for ‘One More Year’ from fans, both the player and club are happy with their decision to part ways at the end of a resurgent campaign for the 34-year-old superstar. With a Carabao Cup and FA Cup added to a glittering trophy cabinet, he leaves having returned the Red Devils to the Champions League and is fully vindicated in disproving the assertion that the ‘football had left him’. It will be a tall order for United to replace Casemiro this summer, as he remains, even at this late stage of his career, one of the finest defensive midfielders of the 21st century. The American Dream While there has been interest from Serie A and Saudi Arabia in agreeing a free transfer, Casemiro’s focus is on chasing the American dream, specifically in the Latino city of Miami. Fabrizio Romano reports the São Paulo native is at the “final stages” of agreeing a deal to sign for Inter Miami, the MLS club with Lionel Messi as their flagship superstar. 🚨🔜 Inter Miami have been at final stages of deal to sign Casemiro for months, as reported since March. Casemiro wants Miami as next destination, with clear expectation to sign soon. The Brazilian wanted to finish season at Man Utd then sign with Inter Miami. pic.twitter.com/2IbpI8ts1r — Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) May 20, 2026 Tweet: “Inter Miami have been at final stages of deal to sign Casemiro for months, as reported since March. Casemiro wants Miami as next destination, with clear expectation to sign soon. The Brazilian wanted to finish season at Man Utd then sign with Inter Miami.” The Athletic corroborates Casemiro’s desire to sign for The Herons, with the prospect of playing alongside Messi understood to be a major attraction. However, in a bizarre twist, the simple fact that the United star is locked in negotiations with Inter Miami “runs afoul of MLS rules.” The report states: “The LA Galaxy hold the priority right to negotiate with Casemiro, a mechanism called ‘discovery rights,’ and were hoping to convince him to come to Los Angeles. Sources indicate the Galaxy and Casemiro or his representatives had numerous conversations, including multiple contract offers by the Galaxy. The discovery rules are meant to avoid these very scenarios in which multiple MLS clubs are negotiating against each other. “Typically, these sorts of discovery right disputes are settled by one team compensating the other in a trade for the discovery rights. Two summers ago, a similar situation unfolded with Marco Reus. He ultimately signed for the Galaxy, but Charlotte FC had his rights and was trying to sign him, even offering more money than the Galaxy were. Reus still chose the Galaxy, who paid Charlotte $400,000 in General Allocation Money for those rights.” The Athletic notes this discovery rights issue has “not yet been resolved”, though well-placed sources indicate that a “deal is expected to be reached” as a compromise will ultimately be reached amongst all parties. Already played his last game? Thanks to his return to form for United and his former manager at Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, taking charge of Brazil, Casemiro is set to play a key role for his country at the World Cup in North America this summer. With the tournament fast approaching, Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte claims the midfielder has agreed to sit out United’s final game of the season, away to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday. Instead, he will rest and report to “Granja Comary next Wednesday, when the national team begins its preparations for the World Cup.” The report also states a three-year contract with Inter Miami, who are the reigning MLS champions, has already been agreed. Final Thoughts While the idea of an experienced veteran remaining in place next season as two younger midfielders arrive is a comforting one, it is always best to depart on a high — and few could have predicted this triumphant goodbye for Casemiro as he trudged off the pitch in the 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park two years ago. The five-time Champions League winner will enjoy the relaxed nature of MLS football, as well as the weather and culture in Miami, but only once he attempts to reach a pinnacle he has never reached with his country at the World Cup. If he has played his last game for United — an uncertain prospect, given Brazilian media has a chequered history with these types of updates — then he leaves with his head held high, and Manchester United etched into his heart. Manchester United could be about to take a shocking decision regarding one of their long forgotten stars. Jadon Sancho has spent the last two and a half seasons away from Old Trafford, with his last Premier League appearance coming back in August, 2023. A falling-out with then-manager Erik ten Hag saw him banished from the first team, before he re-joined former club Borussia Dortmund on loan for the second half of the 2023/24 campaign. Despite reaching the Champions League final, the German giants decided against purchasing the winger on a permanent basis, and INEOS quickly sent him packing to Chelsea on a loan-to-buy deal. Another disappointing loan for Jadon Sancho The Blues were obligated to buy the Englishman, but opted to pay a penalty to send him back to United, so unimpressed was Enzo Maresca. Now, at Aston Villa on another season-long loan, the Premier League side are reportedly open to keeping him on board permanently despite a poor individual season following their Europa League triumph. Dortmund are still not out of the hunt, while Turkish clubs are also keen. Given the competition for the 26-year-old’s signature, the Red Devils have sensed the possibility of earning a small transfer fee. The England international‘s deal with United is up this summer, but the 20-time English league champions have the option of triggering a one-year extension. Numerous suitors ready to snap up Jadon Sancho on a free They were expected to waive it off, but according to SportBild, United’s co-owners are eager to earn a fee for a player the club paid £73 million for in 2021. “For months, speculation about Jadon Sancho’s (26) return to Borussia Dortmund has been rife. But now, signs are increasingly pointing to the fact that the “prodigal son” will NOT be returning to the Ruhr region for a third time. “Dortmund’s sporting director Lars Ricken (49) is said to have been surprised to learn that the attacking star, currently on loan at Aston Villa, has allegedly expressed a desire to move exclusively to Dortmund. “According to reports from SPORT BILD and BILD, this supposed request from Sancho has not yet reached the club directly. United desperate to earn a fee from the sale of Jadon Sancho “Furthermore, there is still speculation in the Borussia Dortmund management as to whether the disgraced superstar will actually be allowed to leave Manchester United on a free transfer at the end of the season. “The reason: The Premier League club is reportedly planning to extend Sancho’s expiring contract at short notice via a clause, thus potentially demanding a transfer fee.” Jadon Sancho has a current market value of £17 million as per Transfermarkt, and INEOS would do well to earn anywhere close to that amount for one of United’s worst buys in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era. Manchester United have Senne Lammens to thank for their third-place finish in the Premier League this season. The Belgian arrived as a breath of fresh air, dominating the box during set-pieces and looking assured when handling the ball under pressure. Compared to Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, the 23-year-old appeared a class apart, and INEOS were right to send the Cameroonian away on loan and elevate the former Royal Antwerp ace to the No.1 spot. The African shot-stopper has found his level at Trabzonspor, and naturally, the Turkish side are eager to keep him on board for longer. Trabzonspor want Onana on another loan United had bought the 30-year-old for £47 million, and Trabzonspor do not have the financial firepower to match United’s asking price. They are planning another loan offer, as revealed by their club president Ertuğrul Doğan to HTSpor: “We want to loan Onana for one more year. Our coach’s opinion is also positive. 💥 Ertuğrul Doğan: Onana için bir yıl daha kiralamak istiyoruz. Hocamızın da görüşü olumlu. Arkasındaki genç oyuncuların gelişimine çok iyi destek olan bir oyuncu. Niyetimiz bu yönde, belli maliyetlere de katlanacağız. pic.twitter.com/THv1nfa9co — HT Spor (@HTSpor) May 20, 2026 “He’s a player who provides very good support for the development of the young players behind him. Our intention is in this direction, and we will also bear certain costs.” SportsBoom have now revealed that, while the 20-time English league champions would have preferred to sell him outright, they are open to accepting another loan deal. United set one condition The catch is that they want the Turkish side to pay the goalkeeper’s full wages. It must be remembered that Andre Onana is due for a wage hike now that United are back in the Champions League. “SportsBoom understands the Cameroon international has effectively been frozen out of United’s long-term plans and is now heading towards the exit door on loan again for next season. “United splashed a massive £47million to land the former Inter Milan keeper in 2023, and Trabzonspor have little chance of matching anything like that fee. “Instead, SportsBoom understands they are exploring another season-long loan move and are willing to cover the stopper’s wages as part of the package. Fresh details emerge on two big clubs that launched ambitious loan attempts for Shea Lacey – report

A fresh report has indicated that two big European clubs launched attempts to sign Manchester United youngster Shea Lacey on loan during the January transfer window. Decision looming Widely considered one of the brightest young talents to emerge from Carrington in recent years, Lacey has seen his stock rise meteorically within United’s youth ranks. He made his first-team debut under Ruben Amorim but has not featured since he was sent off in the FA Cup exit at the hands of Brighton in January. Lacey has been named on the bench for a few matchday squads but has yet to get a taste of senior action under interim head coach Michael Carrick. Since returning from injury, he has turned out for the youth sides, but there is a belief that he will play a part on Sunday when the Red Devils play their final game of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion. United are expected to field a heavily-rotated side with a number of youngsters. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Jim Thwaites and Godwill Kukonki are also in contention to make their senior bow. In terms of Lacey’s future, it’s said that United are facing a decision ahead of the summer. It’s understood that a loan exit is on the cards, with several Championship and League One clubs keen on his signature. Official approaches for Lacey are expected to arrive soon. According to reliable X source Academy Scoop, Lacey was attracting interest back in January, with two major clubs especially keen on him. Lacey revelation Academy Scoop wrote on X, “I understand approaches were made to sign Lacey on loan in January, which were complicated by an injury he suffered at the time.” “Celtic in particular were keen on signing Lacey on a 6-month deal and held talks to explore a move.” “Marseille were among the other interested clubs.” I understand approaches were made to sign Lacey on loan in January, which were complicated by an injury he suffered at the time. United’s Elliot Anderson pursuit hanging by a thread after crushing Man City development – report

Manchester United’s hopes of beating Manchester City to the signing of Elliot Anderson are growing slimmer ahead of the summer window. Anderson battle It’s an open secret that United are eyeing midfield reinforcements this summer as they prepare to play Champions League football and mount a Premier League title challenge next season. There have been suggestions that United have set aside as much as £150m to spend on midfielders alone. Anderson is United’s priority target. He has enjoyed another superb campaign despite Nottingham Forest primarily battling relegation. The all-action midfielder is expected to part ways with Forest over the coming weeks and United have been named as a potential next transfer destination. The England international passed his United audition emphatically over the weekend with a sensational display, even though he ultimately came up just short as Michael Carrick’s side clinched all three points. City have emerged as United’s chief competitors in the frenzied race to snap up Anderson. There has been a feeling that City are frontrunners for the 23-year-old. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United have not given up on signing him. Raging speculation that Pep Guardiola will leave City at the end of the campaign may have left United a bit optimistic about their chances of luring Anderson to Old Trafford, but The i Paper reveals that this is not the case. Enzo Maresca is poised to replace Guardiola at the Etihad and the Italian has given the green light for City to pursue Anderson. Crushing Anderson blow According to the news outlet, City remain firmly on track to sign Anderson ahead of United. “Insiders believe a deal for Elliot Anderson is well advanced and Guardiola’s departure will not disrupt the transfer, even though Manchester United intend to make a serious play for the England international.” “The player is understood to be keen and Maresca is said to be on board with the signing. A marquee midfielder is inevitable, with Bernardo Silva following Guardiola out the door.” Pete Hall and Mark Douglas explain that City are planning a 200m spend on three transfers, with Anderson one of them. Only time will tell if this development makes United step up their chase or just give up and look elsewhere. A huge transfer window is fast approaching and rumours are already beginning to swirl regarding which players may be joining Manchester United this summer. It is sure to be a summer of transition at Old Trafford, with at least three new signings expected, although fans will be hoping for even more. With Champions League football secured for next season, the Red Devils will have to play at least eight more games next season. For United to stand a chance of competing on all four fronts, a much deeper squad will be required, allowing head coach Michael Carrick to rotate the team from game to game in an effort to improve his already exceptional win percentage. Unfortunately, United have suffered an early blow in their pursuit of a promising Premier League midfielder in Joao Gomes, as a Atletico Madrid have struck first, according to a new report. A midfield target With Casemiro set to depart at the end of the season and Manuel Ugarte failing to prove he is up to the standard required, United are understood to be looking to sign at least two central midfielders this summer. It will be particularly difficult to replace Casemiro, with the Brazilian international taking his game to a new level this season. United need to find a player with attributes that will complement Kobbie Mainoo’s game, with the talented academy graduate recently committing his future to the Red Devils by signing a new long-term contract. A number of huge names, such as Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, have been linked to Old Trafford, but one player now seems very unlikely to be wearing a United shirt next season. A season to forget for Wolves Wolverhampton Wanderers have endured a miserable Premier League campaign. The club are set to finish at the bottom of the table and their relegation to the Championship was confirmed a long time ago. As is often the case with demoted clubs, other sides are looking to sign their best players, knowing they will likely be available at a bargain price. United have been linked with two Wolves players as the club look to increase their squad depth. These players are Mateus Mane and Joao Gomes, and while the Red Devils are actively scouting Mane, they seem to have been beaten to Gomes’ signature. The Brazil international has been one of Wolves’ few standout players this season. He has made 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and registering three assists. Known for his tenacity and intensity, Gomes is a fierce tackler and excellent passer of the ball, possessing all the attributes needed to make him a success at Old Trafford. A move to La Liga Unfortunately, though, it seems as if the 25-year-old enforcer will be playing his football in Spain next season. According to Sky Sports, Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal in principle to sign the Rio de Janeiro native. A fee of £39 million has been agreed between the two clubs and work is now being done to ensure Gomes is an Atleti player when the transfer window opens next month. Diego Simeone’s side will be hoping to build on their fourth-placed finish in LaLiga next season, and clearly they see the Wolves star as the player required to help push them up the table. Summer plans Talk of INEOS’ plans for United this summer has many believing a left winger signing is firmly on the agenda. There is a clear need to add a left winger to this squad, a void left by Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Jadon Sancho‘s departures on permanent or loan deals last summer. The 20-time English champions now hope to finally replace the trio with a brilliant winger this summer. Rafael Leao links Some deadly wingers are already being linked, but of those mentioned, Rafael Leao now looks unlikely to be the one Manchester United pursue. Leao is widely expected to leave AC Milan this summer. After a stunted few seasons at San Siro, he never bloomed into the Ballon d’Or-worthy winger many tipped him to become. A fresh start elsewhere appears inevitable. The Portuguese winger, dubbed “unstoppable” by Athletic Club when he gets going, has been heavily linked with a move to M16. However, as per Sport Italia, there may never have been anything to those links as far as the 20-time English champions are concerned. Milan stunned Milan had hoped for an offer from top clubs, but so far, nothing has come. The Italian outlet reveals: “Leao has also recently been offered to Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United, but they haven’t found any approval or willingness to pursue the matter further. “The same can be said of Barcelona, who also monitored him for months but then decided not to proceed in any way.” Surprising to pass up chance to sign Leao Passing up the chance to sign a player of Leao’s calibre, once feared for his explosive acceleration and elite dribbling in one-on-one situations, will leave many fans stunned. After all, as Ousmane Dembele’s renaissance at Paris Saint-Germain showed, a fresh start can be enough to reactivate a player’s brilliance. Either way, for the Old Trafford faithful, it is reassuring that better options are on the menu. With intriguing left winger targets such as Mika Godts and Mateus Mane still in the picture, it is very much a case of wait and see what INEOS have planned for United’s left wing.
