Unsettled 21-yo United star “set to leave” in January as talks already underway over permanent exit – report

Manchester United forward Sam Mather is reportedly in talks over permanently leaving the club during the upcoming January transfer window. Mather wants United exit Mather seriously explored a United departure during the summer but a move failed to get over the line. A transfer to Turkey was strongly mooted and at one point, it seemed like he was poised to get his wish. On Turkey’s deadline day in September, United and Kayserispor were in advanced talks for the player. Kayserispor were strongly interested in Mather, and key elements of a deal were agreed, including the fee, buyback clause and wages. It’s understood that United set a deadline for the deal but ultimately withdrew from negotiations, citing insufficient time to obtain final sign-off. A report covered by The Peoples Person noted that UAE club Al Wahda FC was a potential last-minute resort for Mather, but this too failed to materialise. He ended up staying at Old Trafford and has made four Premier League 2 appearances so far this term. The 21-year-old has contributed two assists in that period. According to the Manchester Evening News, Mather feels he has outgrown academy football and is desperate for first-team action. He is already planning for his immediate future, with talks already underway over a January transfer. Mather transfer update MEN reveal that Mather is “set to leave” next month. The news outlet adds, “Mather, 21, is keen to leave United in an effort to kickstart his career in the professional game, and he is attracting interest from clubs in Turkey, Germany and Greece ahead of January.” “Discussions have taken place regarding the youngster’s future, and United are willing to make concessions to allow Mather to leave as early as possible after his summer move collapsed.” Regarding why a switch to Al Wahda did not happen, MEN explain that the UAE club did not want the inclusion of a buy-back clause in the agreement between them and United. The Englishman’s contract expires in 2027. The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. Former United star announces surprising new business venture that “demands heart, sacrifice and teamwork” – The BBC

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has embarked on a surprise business venture. Man United career Pogba joined United’s academy from Le Havre in 2009 and was part of the 2011 FA Youth Cup winning side. He would leave United on a free transfer in 2012 and spent four successful seasons at Juventus, where he became one of the most sought-after midfielders in world football. The Frenchman made a sensational return to Old Trafford in August 2016 when the Red Devils splashed out £89 million on him. This fee is still the club’s record transfer spend in spite of it taking place almost a decade ago. Pogba spent six seasons at United, scoring 39 goals in 226 appearances during his second spell at the club. He left on a free transfer in 2022 and returned to his former side Juventus. Ban The 2018 World Cup winner suffered a serious injury during his first season back at Juve and was then given a doping banning of four years, which was later reduced to 18 months. Pogba eventually returned to senior action last month after signing for AS Monaco in the summer. New business venture According to The BBC, “Paul Pogba has moved into the sport of camel racing after investing in Saudi Arabia-based team Al Haboob.” The report adds, “the Monaco midfielder has become a shareholder and ambassador for Al Haboob – the world’s first professional camel racing team competing across the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf.” Speaking to BBC sport about this new endeavour Pogba stated, “I’ve watched my fair share of [camel] races on YouTube and spent time doing research in my spare time trying to understand the techniques and strategies. And what stood out to me is how much dedication it takes from everyone involved. At the end of the day, sport is sport. It demands heart, sacrifice and teamwork.” Pogba went on to discuss the value of how sport connects people and revealed that his dream is to own the world’s most expensive camel one day. Tean founder Omar Almaeena is delighted with Pogba’s involvement in the project and claimed, “his influence, leadership, and passion for cultural storytelling reflect exactly what Al Haboob stands for. This partnership is about more than racing; it is about sharing a heritage that deserves global recognition.” Paul Pogba career stats ClubAppearancesGoalsYears Active Man United302009-2012 Juventus178342012-2016 Man United226392016-2022 Juventus1202022-2023 Monaco302025- Source: Wikipedia Featured image Ed Sykes via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. Club bid farewell to former PL winning United star who have a bond that “will last forever”

Former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has suffered his latest career setback. United career The striker know as Chicharito joined the Red Devils from Mexican side Guadalajara in 2010. He took to English football like a duck to water, scoring 20 times during his first season in which United were crowned league champions. The Mexican would score a total of 59 goals in 157 matches for United, before leaving the club in 2015. Hernandez moved to Real Madrid on loan in 2014 before spending time at Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham United and Sevilla. After his career in Europe ended, he played four seasons for LA Galaxy in the United States before returning to his native Mexico in 2023. Nonetheless, he could not return to the goalscoring ways that defined the majority of his career, only finding the net three times in 31 matches over two seasons. Release Therefore, it probably comes as little surprise that the Mexican side have decided to release the now 37-year-old forward. Posting on the club’s official Instagram site they commented, “Club Deportivo Guadalajara announces that Javier Hernández Balcázar is ending his second spell as a Chivas player.” The Mexican side went on to state, “the bond between Chicharito and the club he loves, which trained him and helped him become a legend in Mexican football, will last forever.” The statement continued, “Javier is undoubtedly one of the greatest figures in Mexican football. With the Rebaño, he won the 2006 Apertura League title and the 2010 Bicentennial individual scoring title, before embarking on an international career that led him to success at several of Europe’s most important clubs.” The club also thanked him for his “dedication” and “passion” during his second spell at the club. Controversy The former United star found himself in hot water earlier this year after he made sexist comments online, which he later apologised for. His actions resulted in a fine and criticism from the country’s president. Bitter power struggle opens door for United star to bag unexpected major honour – report

Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo has received a major honour with Cameroon, even as the national team continues to be plagued by a bitter internal feud ahead of their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations. Cameroon chaos A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United goalkeeper Andre Onana, now on loan at Turkish club Trabzonspor, had received a shock call to play for Cameroon at AFCON. Onana was left out of the squad that was named by David Pagou, who was appointed interim head coach by Fecafoot (Cameroon’s football federation) president Samuel Eto’o. However, just two days out from the full squad submission deadline, Onana was included in Cameroon’s AFCON squad – but the one submitted by former head coach Marc Brys, who has refused to step down from the position despite being dismissed by Eto’o. Brys, backed by the Sports Ministry, maintains that he was never formally informed about his sacking and will therefore proceed with his preparations for AFCON. Mbeumo features in both Pagou’s and Brys’ squad lists. As the power struggle continues, L’Equipe 237 claims that Mbeumo is poised to captain the Indomitable Lions during AFCON. Mbeumo boost According to L’Equipe 237 [via SportWitness], the feud jeopardising Onana and Vincent Aboubakar’s tournament places has opened the door for Mbeumo to wear the armband for Cameroon. It’s a big honour for the 26-year-old, who has certainly embraced the pressure of playing for United since joining the club from Brentford during the summer transfer window. Mbeumo has been the Red Devils’ undisputed talisman. His strike against Wolves earlier this week took his Premier League tally to six goals. He also found the back of the net in the humiliating EFL Cup loss at the hands of Grimsby Town. Many big-money signings before him have withered under the crushing weight of expectations at Old Trafford but he appears to thrive – a trait that will help him as Cameroon captain, especially during a trying period. Mbeumo and United are next in action on Monday when they host Bournemouth. Official: United star set to miss up to a month of action after latest announcement

Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui has officially been called up by the Morocco national team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, which is set to kick off later this month. Mazraoui called up While it was largely expected that Mazraoui would be part of Walid Regragui’s plans for the competition, his place in the team was only confirmed on Thursday afternoon. He is part of a defensive group that also consists of Achraf Hakimi, Mohamed Chibi, Jawad El Yamiq, Romain Saiss, Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal, Nayef Aguerd, Adam Masina and Anass Salah-Eddine. اللائحة الرسمية لمنتخبنا الوطني المستدعاة للمشاركة في كأس أمم إفريقيا — المغرب 2025 🏆 The official squad list called up for our National Team for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations — Morocco 2025#DimaMaghrib 🇲🇦 | #AFCON2025 pic.twitter.com/t86rcbpdDp — Équipe du Maroc (@EnMaroc) December 11, 2025 Morocco are hosting the tournament and are undoubtedly one of the favourites to snatch the title from defending champions Ivory Coast. Mazraoui’s involvement will only strengthen the North African nation’s bid to emerge victorious. After his start to the 2025/26 season was derailed by an injury, Mazraoui seems to be back in top form, with his recent performances massively helping United. He was sensational earlier this week as United put Wolverhampton Wanderers to the squad in a 4-1 triumph at the Molineux. The 28-year-old has made nine Premier League appearances for United this term. United hoping to hold on to AFCON trio Ruben Amorim has been optimistic about United’s chances of keeping Mazraoui, Amad (Ivory Coast) and Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon) for a little longer before they are allowed to leave for AFCON. The United head coach confirmed that the club has been in negotiations with the respective federations over an arrangement that suits all concerned parties. Mazraoui, Amad and Mbeumo were all in training on Thursday ahead of Monday’s clash against Bournemouth at Old Trafford. This likely suggests that they will be available to face the Cherries. AFCON kicks off on December 21. United were handed a boost last week when FIFA ruled that players could remain with their clubs until later, otherwise, Mazraoui, Amad and Mbeumo would have left already. Amorim sweating as key United trio miss training ahead of Bournemouth clash – report

Three Manchester United stars were absent from training ahead of Monday’s home meeting with Bournemouth. United aiming to kick on Having triumphed over bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this week, United will undoubtedly be looking to make it back-to-back Premier League wins for just the second time this season when they host Bournemouth. The 4-1 victory over Wolves catapulted United to sixth place in the table and just one point below fourth-placed Crystal Palace. After a patchy start to the campaign, the Red Devils now appear to be on the right track and there is renewed optimism that a strong finish is firmly within reach. If United manage to sink Bournemouth and results elsewhere go their way, they will be in the top four by the end of the matchweek. Unfortunately for Ruben Amorim, he may have to find a way of doing this without three key players – Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire and Benjamin Sesko, who were all absent from training on Thursday. United trio miss training According to the Manchester Evening News, De Ligt, Maguire and Sesko were not spotted in training at United’s Carrington base on Thursday, fuelling speculation that they’re still not fit enough. MEN note about De Ligt, “De Ligt was absent against West Ham and Wolves due to his knock. Although the Dutchman did not participate in training on Thursday, he was present at Carrington and conducted external media duties.” Maguire has not featured for United since the 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in early November. Speaking to the media last week, Amorim confirmed that the England international was “still out” with a hamstring problem. Meanwhile, Sesko was expected to make his return from injury against Bournemouth. His agent hinted as much when he revealed that the Slovenian could be back a lot sooner than anticipated. Amorim will likely clarify the trio’s fitness situation in his pre-match press conference. The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. United snub golden chance to land Champions League winner at an absolute bargain – report

In a bid to support Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United project and ensure it prospers, INEOS remain intent on recruiting top-quality players. One such name who could have been an instant hit at Old Trafford, much like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, is Sergio Ramos. Ramos departs Monterrey Ramos has just left Monterrey as a free agent. The Mexican side were keen to retain him after an impressive stint, yet the four-time Champions League winner was determined to return to playing in Europe. Sergio Ramos Stats ClubAppearancesGoalsYellow CardsTrophies Real Madrid67110121822 Sevilla8710210 Paris Saint-Germain58663 Monterrey327100 Spain18023243 United transfer links Only the other day, reports suggested United had tabled an offer to sign Ramos on a free transfer in January. As speculation gathered pace, all eyes turned to the 20-time English champions to see if they would pull off the deal. Truth behind the links However, an interesting update has now dropped. According to ESPN, “Manchester United have no interest in signing Sergio Ramos as the former Spain international looks for his next club.” “He has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but United are not exploring a deal, and no talks have taken place.” United’s transfer priorities ESPN further revealed United’s plans: “United are focused on signing younger players… The recruitment drive is currently centred on strengthening the centre of midfield and increasing options at wing-back.” This revelation, dropping just as Ramos-to-United rumours began to gather steam, should effectively end speculation of a January switch for the 39-year-old. Long-standing pursuit of Ramos It remains a shame Ramos will never don United’s colours, despite the club’s repeated attempts to secure his services. Back in 2015, United reportedly lodged a £28.6 million bid, only for Real Madrid to reject it. Fast forward to 2023, and once again, United tried to lure him, but Ramos snubbed the approach. This time, however, it appears that United have turned down the opportunity. Defensive reinforcements still eyed Even so, while the immediate focus lies on midfield and wing-back reinforcements, there are still hints of United’s desire to strengthen at centre-back. Indeed, recent reports suggest Amorim has urged INEOS to pursue Elche defender David Affengruber, with the aim of pairing him with Leny Yoro in the heart of United’s defence. What Amorim has now done that’s left Mainoo convinced his United fate is all but sealed – report

As the winter transfer window fast approaches, one Manchester United player under the spotlight is Kobbie Mainoo. As talented and highly rated as he is, Mainoo has yet to secure a place in Ruben Amorim’s starting XI. The midfield prodigy has spent more time on the bench than on the pitch, which is now beginning to harm his development. Keen to change his fortunes and with hopes of earning a recall to the England national team as he targets Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad, Mainoo is reportedly considering a temporary move away from United in January. While a departure seems increasingly likely, the question remains: should Mainoo exercise patience, as Joshua Zirkzee has done? After all, Zirkzee was also heavily linked with an exit, but is now being given opportunities and is even keen to stay. Mainoo frustrated by Amorim’s latest decision Dean Jones, via Teamtalk, has made an intriguing claim about whether Mainoo thinks his situation could change at United. The transfer guru suggests that watching Zirkzee and even Ayden Heaven get their opportunities while he continues to be overlooked has only deepened Mainoo’s frustration. Jones explains: “Mainoo has had to watch on while Joshua Zirkzee and Ayden Heaven have started to become a more integral part of the first team recently. “There are mitigating circumstances, with Zirkzee’s chances arising due to Benjamin Sesko’s knee injury, for example, though it is believed to be seen as further proof to Mainoo that his own chances are not coming.” Zirkzee, who had also been struggling for game time, has now started three of United’s last four league matches. Meanwhile, Heaven, who has also been on the periphery, has forced his way in, starting the last two league games. Yet Mainoo has yet to make a single United league start this season, even as fans continue to push for him to be involved more. Amorim’s stubbornness, refusing to bow to pressure by playing Mainoo, yet handing opportunities to fringe players such as Zirkzee and Heaven, may well intensify the young midfielder’s desire to push for a January exit. Mainoo may have to force his way out Last summer, Mainoo requested a loan move but was denied. Now, Jones further admits: “Mainoo has been aware of Napoli’s interest for some time and realises he will have to play his own role in making any transfer come true.” “While there are no suggestions he’ll do anything drastic, it is believed he’ll push more forcefully for a move next month.” All eyes on Mainoo Former United stars Nicky Butt, Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes have all advised Mainoo to leave Old Trafford. Their counsel, combined with Amorim’s preference for Zirkzee and Heaven, has only weakened United’s hopes of retaining the wonderkid. It is undoubtedly a shame that things have not worked out for Mainoo under Amorim, especially after he showed such promise under Erik ten Hag. Whether he departs in January to rediscover his brilliance elsewhere remains to be seen. Club ready to get rid of “toxic” midfielder United have been chasing since summer – report

Manchester United are open to shuffling their midfield during the winter transfer window. Kobbie Mainoo is determined to leave Ruben Amorim’s squad, having failed to earn a single Premier League start this season. Given Amorim’s preference for physicality over technical prowess in his midfield, it would be best for United to let their gifted academy product develop elsewhere and bring in a new midfielder.  Manchester United interested in Jobe Bellingham It has been widely reported that United want to add an athletic midfielder to their ranks. Ahead of January, United have been linked with Borussia Dortmund youngster Jobe Bellingham, who has been on their radar since his days in the Championship with Sunderland, owing to his incredible athleticism.  In October, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are willing to make an offer for Bellingham, who has struggled to replicate the success of his brother, Jude, in Germany. Dortmund ready to part ways with Bellingham Bellingham, who became Dortmund’s record purchase last summer, has started just four games in the Bundesliga so far. According to Fichajes, Dortmund “regret” signing the Englishman from Sunderland in a deal worth around €30 million. Apart from his performances, Bellingham has received backlash for his attitude and “toxic” inner circle. In August, his father, Mark, allegedly confronted a Dortmund chief outside the dressing room after his son was subbed off at half-time. Dortmund are not happy with the situation and are prepared to cut their losses.  The Spanish outlet claim the German giants will not stand in the way of his transfer away from Signal Iduna Park next summer. They would be open to either a permanent or loan exit, with an option to buy. Dortmund have supposedly already given up on the 20-year-old midfielder, but it remains to be seen what United make of his tricky stint.  Feature image Dean Mouhtaropoulos via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. United set to battle bitter rivals for French sensation with 42 g/a last season – report

Manchester United are linked with attacking reinforcements in 2026, despite investing a small fortune in the frontline over the summer. The Red Devils parted ways with Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund in a major revamp of the attack after a disappointing campaign. In came Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko, with the Premier League giants spending over £200 million to secure the trio. While Mbeumo has hit the ground running so far, the same cannot be said for Cunha and Sesko. The Brazilian has managed just one goal in 13 appearances across competitions, while the Slovenian has scored twice in 12 games. The Premier League giants, as such, could revisit the position in 2026, and a recent report relayed by The Peoples Person has named Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward Bradley Barcola as an option. A fine choice for the left-forward role Barcola joined the Parisians in the summer of 2023 from Lyon and was outstanding last season. The Frenchman registered 21 goals and 21 assists for Luis Enrique’s side as they secured a historic treble. However, Barcola has struggled to replicate that form this campaign and has managed five goals and three assists in 19 appearances, which includes 16 starts. Bradley Barcola Stats: 2025/26 Season CompetitionAppearancesGoalsAssistsYellow CardsRed CardsMinutes Played Ligue 112512-765′ UEFA Champions League6-2–442′ UEFA Super Cup1–1-67′ Total 25/2619533-1,274′ Source: Transfermarkt. The situation has added to speculation regarding the player’s future and United are ready to take advantage. A change in scenario could help the 23 year old rediscover the form that made him one of the hottest properties in European football a few months ago. Meanwhile, Barcola’s pace and trickery could help address Amorim’s misfiring left-forward position. However, it now appears that the Red Devils will face competition from a familiar foe in the race. Liverpool want Barcola According to journalist Mark Brus, Liverpool have identified Barcola as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is expected to leave Anfield in 2026 following his public criticism of the club and Arne Slot. A source told the journalist: “Liverpool have already begun background work on replacing Salah. A player they really like, and have been following closely for some time, is Bradley Barcola.” The report, however, adds that PSG are not looking to let the Frenchman leave and could instead offer him a new deal. Barcola’s contract at the Parc des Princes runs until 2028, but a source told Brus that the player could be open to a new adventure. United, as such, will have to step up their efforts if they wish to beat their bitter rivals in the race for the Frenchman. Final Thoughts United have shown a preference for Premier League-proven targets of late, and recent reports suggest that they are already working to sign Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo in 2026. However, there is no doubt that Barcola could add another dimension to Amorim’s attack, so the Red Devils could keep a close watch on how his situation at PSG progresses.
