The agent of Bournemouth forward Antonine Semenyo has reportedly confirmed that Manchester United have opened talks for the player’s signing.
Semenyo has been in outstanding form this season, playing a key role in boosting Bournemouth’s ambitions for European football.
The Ghanaian has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 28 Premier League appearances. Across all competitions, he has found the back of the net nine times.
Unsurprisingly, Semenyo’s performances have alerted a number of clubs to his availability. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Tottenham were set to rival United for the 25-year-old’s services.
It was also previously claimed that United were preparing to make a move for Semenyo, and now an update has been provided indicating that the Red Devils have reached out to Bournemouth.
According to Africafoot, Semenyo is one of United’s priorities for the upcoming summer transfer window and the club are “working behind the scenes” to secure his signature.
The news outlet adds, “According to information from his agent relayed by Africafoot, the Red Devils have already begun discussions with Bournemouth.”
“The Mancunian club is reportedly ready to make an offer of €40 million, while the Cherries are demanding €50 million. United are considering a five-year contract with an optional year.
In addition to Ruben Amorim’s side, Chelsea have also inquired about the situation of Semenyo.
With Antony likely to depart United amidst Real Betis’ desire to make his stay in Spain a permanent one, Semenyo coming in as a replacement for the Brazilian makes sense.
