Manchester United and Newcastle are currently embroiled in a heated battle for Benjamin Sesko’s favour, but Nicolas Jackson has been proposed as an alternative.
The two Premier League sides are both eager to bring in a new centre-forward this month. The Red Devils want a top-notch striker who can guarantee goals following Rasmus Hojlund’s shortcomings last season, while the Magpies have been forced to enter the market, as Alexander Isak is determined to join Liverpool this summer.
Therefore, both clubs have identified Sesko as their primary target, setting up the stage for an old-fashioned transfer tug-of-war.

Newcastle have emerged as the stauncher suitor, as they’ve already submitted two formal bids for Sesko, offering RB Leipzig a transfer fee that could reach €90 million.
On the other hand, Man Utd haven’t made a concrete offer, only informing the Bundesliga side that they’re willing to table a bid should the Slovenian star decide to choose them as his preferred destination and close the door on the Geordies.
In the meantime, Chelsea are looking to bank on the two clubs’ dire need for a striker. According to TalkSport, the Blues have offered the services of Jackson to Man Utd and Newcastle, in addition to Serie A giants AC Milan, are equally desperate for attacking reinforcement.

The West Londoners are hellbent on selling as many out-of-favour players as they can in order to raise funds for additional signings like Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho.
Jackson was a regular starter for Chelsea in the last two campaigns, but is now considered surplus to requirements following the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

However, the Club World Cup winners are refusing to sell the Senegalese striker on the cheap, setting their asking price at £80 million. Nevertheless, they are open to sending him away on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
Nevertheless, one would imagine that neither Man United nor Newcastle will give it a thought, with the Sesko battle coming to a head. Yet, Jackson could be a fallback option for whoever misses out on the Slovenian star.
