Three United academy magicians set for loan exits despite Carrick’s need for quality in midfield – report

Despite Manchester United’s struggles to bring in that elusive third midfielder, Michael Carrick has space for only one midfield wonderkid heading into the new campaign. Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have been signed, while Mason Mount can also operate in a deeper role. The likes of Dan Gore, Jacob Devaney, Tyler Fletcher, and Jim Thwaites are just a few of Carrington’s finest hoping to catch the head coach’s eye in pre-season. The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international did impress the new boss against Wrexham, while Tyler is keen to stay and fight despite loan interest from Scotland. Jack Fletcher started in the first half but failed to grab his chance Jack Fletcher was handed the opportunity to start with the big guns against the Red Dragons, with his versatility seen as an asset by the club. However, he is unlikely to be playing in Manchester next season, as per The Daily Mail, with an EFL loan looming on the horizon. Carrick may have called up plenty of academy graduates to his pre-season squad in the absence of his World Cup stars, but quite a few have also been left at home. That includes Jack Moorhouse and Sekou Kone, both of whom are set to leave on loan as well. The Mancunian has generated interest from League One and abroad. Jack Moorhouse set for another temporary exit Interestingly, the Malian might not have even returned from his spell with FC Lausanne Sport and is set to continue his development in the Swiss league. “Sekou Kone (Lausanne), Jack Moorhouse (countless options across League One, as well as abroad), and Jack Fletcher (lots of EFL loan interest) are expected to play elsewhere.” It makes sense to loan youngsters out instead of playing them at the Academy level, which often ends up stagnating the growth of a young player. Playing senior football is what will aid young stars, and a good loan spell can help them return to Manchester with renewed vigour, or they can put themselves up in the shop window.
