The Benjamin Sesko transfer saga is accelerating with Newcastle tabling an official offer for Manchester United’s primary target.
The Red Devils have been linked with several strikers in recent months, but after missing out on Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike, they have now identified Sesko as the ideal profile to lead their line next season.
This move is reportedly orchestrated by United’s head of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, even though Ruben Amorim is said to prefer a centre-forward with Premier League experience, like Ollie Watkins.

Man Utd’s interest in Sesko set the stage for a showdown with Newcastle who are equally keen to land the 22-year-old RB Leipzig star. The Magpies accelerated their attempts to land the player after learning about Alexander Isak’s intense desire to leave the club this summer.
But while MUFC have only contacted Leipzig to express their interest in Sesko, as they currently lack the financial means to submit an offer, their rivals in the race went a step beyond.
According to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie, Newcastle have submitted a formal bid worth circa £70 million (£65.5m + £4.3m).

Can Man Utd still land Sesko?
The source reveals that Sesko is still reflecting on the situation, as he’s open to joining either Premier League side.
Hence, it remains to be seen if the Slovenian international would be willing to wait further for Man Utd to sort out their accounts and launch an offer, or simply accept Newcastle’s proposal and join a club that would provide him the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season.
The Red Devils still have so much work to do before raising funds for this costly operation. They have already sent Marcus Rashford to Barcelona, but Amorim’s other outcasts remain at Carrington, namely Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia.
