World class manager is set to leave Euro giants, Roy Keane wants him at United – report

Benjamin Sesko scored a late goal to beat Fulham at Old Trafford, ensuring a third consecutive win for Michael Carrick’s Manchester United. Carrick’s impressive start should strengthen his case for a long-term appointment; however, not for Roy Keane. The United legend believes the interim head coach should not be given the permanent job, even if he wins every game until the end of the season. Roy Keane wants Diego Simeone at Manchester United Last year, Keane said he would like Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone at the helm at Old Trafford and create a “good havoc”.  “I think he’d rock up to that place and say, ‘This is how you do things.’ No guarantee, but I just like to see his personality, even his track record,” said the former United midfielder. Simeone is certainly one of Europe’s best managers, having turned Atletico from a mid-table La Liga club to regular title challengers. The Los Rojiblancos have won two league titles and played in as many Champions League finals under the Argentine tactician. Diego Simeone set to leave Atletico Madrid However, after more than 14 years in charge of Atletico, Simeone is considering the possibility of leaving the club. According to Fichajes, Simeone is ready to close his historic chapter on his time in the Spanish capital.  It is claimed the relationship between the 55-year-old and the club’s new ownership has deteriorated due to a disagreement over the project’s vision.   Simeone is demanding more autonomy and a greater say regarding the long-term decisions at Atletico. However, the club’s hierarchy have different ideas. As such, the fan favourite, keen to avoid further tensions, has decided to exit the Metropolitano Stadium amicably at the end of the campaign. Simeone should be on United’s radar if Ineos are looking for an authoritative manager capable of instilling discipline and fighting spirit at Old Trafford.
