Solskjaer favourite’s contract terminated, 25-yo Englishman now free to find new club – report

Former Manchester United star Brandon Williams has suffered another major career setback following a disappointing spell with Hull City. Frustrating Hull tenure Having come through the ranks at United’s famed academy, Williams made his senior debut for the club in 2019 when he came on as a substitute during an EFL Cup victory over Rochdale. He enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2019/20, which saw him make 36 appearances across all competitions. However, competition for places and fitness struggles eventually limited his playing time at the club. While contracted to United, Williams went out on loan to Norwich City in 2021/22 and then Ipswich Town in 2023/24. Williams parted ways with the Red Devils in the summer of 2024 upon the expiry of his contract. In May last year, Williams was handed a suspended prison sentence for a serious driving offence. The Englishman ended his long wait for a club last summer, joining Hull City following a successful trial. His performances during that period also earned him minutes in their pre-season fixtures. The Carrington academy graduate put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months, but things haven’t quite gone according to plan. Williams has only made one Championship appearance for the Tigers this term, which came in August. The 25-year-old was included in the matchday squad just six times by manager Sergej Jakirovic. Now, Hull Live reveal that an agreement has been reached for Williams and Hull to part ways, just six months after the player joined the club. Williams setback Hull Live report, “Hull City have come to an agreement with Brandon Williams to terminate the defender’s contract to enable him to secure a move away from the MKM Stadium.” “Despite optimism that the 25-year-old could revive his career, Williams struggled to get to a level of fitness where he could compete at Championship level.” “Williams had been playing in the Under-21s as part of a plan to get him up to speed, but it has been decided his short stay at the club will now come to an end.” The news outlet adds that Williams has been managing a calf injury in recent weeks. His immediate focus will now be on achieving full fitness and securing a new club to get his career back on track.
