Ben Foster has offered some intriguing predictions about Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha. Judging by his numbers in front of goal, months into his United career, Cunha is yet to reach the top form many expected. Yet to reach Wolves’ heights Coming off a season in which he registered 15 goals and six assists for Wolverhampton Wanderers across 33 league games, it has been frustrating that in 12 Premier League outings as a Red Devil, he has managed just one goal and a single assist. Nevertheless, despite failing to deliver eye‑catching statistics, Cunha has been a joy to watch for United supporters. His ability to shield the ball and maintain possession, win fouls to relieve pressure, drive forward with intent, and inject Samba flair into United’s play has been nothing short of captivating. Watching him, one cannot help but feel it is only a matter of time before the 26‑year‑old rediscovers his goalscoring touch and his numbers begin to reflect the quality of his performances. Cunha lauded by Foster Discussing the weekend’s Premier League action on his Fozcast podcast, Foster took time to lavish praise on United’s No.10 while making a bold prediction about his trajectory. “Cunha is a player, by the way,” the former United goalkeeper admitted. “I went to West Ham the other night. Honestly, he is unreal. He just looks like he’s getting even better.” Foster spot on Few would argue with those assertions. Bryan Mbeumo and Cunha have already proven to be transformative signings for United. Just months into their Old Trafford careers, they have justified every penny spent to secure their services. Alongside Senne Lammens and Benjamin Sesko, they have laid the perfect foundation for Ruben Amorim‘s United project. Impressive against Wolves That said, while Cunha did not score Monday night, he did provide an assist as United thrashed his former employers, Wolverhampton Wanderers, 4–1. His performance was so commanding that he earned a place in WhoScored’s Premier League team of the week. Time to step up With Mbeumo and Amad Diallo, two of United’s most potent attacking threats, set to depart for AFCON duty in the coming weeks, Cunha will be tasked with stepping up and sustaining United’s attacking edge.
